it's amazing how the entire vibe of the interview changes if the person interviewing is an actual fan of the group. it's just so rare to see such fluid and authentic interviews nowadays, great job!
Hot Rod & Popstar are two of the best comedies we have seen in the past 20 years. Love both of these movies! The Lonely Island truly are the best! what an awesome interview👏
Firstly, I want to know more about Kevin. Secondly I love these boys so much. I dream of the day I can see a Lonely Island concert in person. I will be at the front crying with joy screaming the lyrics to motherlover
Well, my personal favorite experience with Lonely Islands is working at Bonnaroo 2019, setting up their stage and equipment prior to their performance. Andy Sandberg was very personable and seemed excited to perform. I watched him walk towards the stage, scheduled to talk with winners of a contest, meeting Lonely Islands backstage. He seemed very genuine and present during the entire night, with them admitting to it being their first festival performance. I have always been a casual fan of their humor, but now I consider to be more of fan of their decision-making and personalities; for what it's worth, they have my respect.
Yeah, it's really heartbreaking to see Hot Rod and Popstar not performing well when the movies came out, considering how much of cult classics they're becoming now... especially when we see how much this seems to have affected them.
I fully agree, it's so heartbreaking and I wish they could know that there are so many people now who really love those movies and have adored the band for years.
I've watched Popstar so many times I purchased it on dvd when they took it off of Netflix. I also loved Hot Rod when I watched it and was in tears from laughing, I need to watch it again soon. I watched Palm Springs last night and felt the same, a wonderful movie with heart and lots of laughs - these boys make media like no other
I love these guys so much , thank you for this great interview. I was always wondering how they meet. Andy's first impressions were very funny. And I want to add real cool fact: The Chronicles of Narnia aka Lazy Sunday , aired in December 2005; that week, traffic to an upstart video-hosting site called RUclips jumped by more than 80 percent.
So nice to hear praise for popstar, I adore that film but in the Uk it was such a limited release - the nearest cinema showing it was 3 cities away. When the dvd came out we had a watch party with friends and had such a good time
"Ladies, listen up, this song is for you You know it's hard out there tryna find a dude But The Lonely Island's got three top-notch brothers So sit back and listen while they compliment each other"
This was a great interview! Felt genuine, thoughtful, interesting, well-paced, inviting and calm interview style.... so enjoyed it! I love The Lonely Island 💗 I am the same age as the guys- have enjoyed their work since SNL and now get to share their body of work with my teenage son! TBH, I showed him Shy Ronnie when he was 7 years old then was like,”crap, he’s too young...I’m a bad mom!”🤣
O my god...you ( the interviewer) are awesome....Great interactions...Such an intimate ,informative and cool interview.I still listen to the 'Popstar' songs on loop.
everything about this interview is perfect. It feels like such an organic conversation, there's a Kevin appearance, the material they discuss and projects they talk about. Everything. Loved it, thanks for the great content!
my girlfriend HATES popstar now, because i watch it so much lol. i listen to the soundtrack on spotify frequently. and then HOT ROD?! jfc best film ever. gf and i both adore that one!
I love all of the albums they've produced, and love their movies. I have the Popstar soundtrack in my car and watched the movie for the fifteenth time really recently when I had something incredibly awful happen in my life and it allowed me to get out of my head for a couple of hours. Palm Springs is amazing. Hot Rod is amazing. Bash Bros is amazing. The shows they've produced are awesome. These guys have a knack for making stuff that I find hilarious. Please never stop never stopping.
These guys are hilarious and continually underrated. This was a great interview and glad we could get some more history on some of their work. Can't wait for a MacGruber show! :)
I think the interviewer nailed it on the head with Popstar. I thought the marketing looked terrible and was like... nah... Watched it several years later and absolutely loved it.
Are we not all Lonely Islands? We seek comfort, joy, wonder, shelter,, support, love, empathy and compassion from other islands. We seek to build bridges and send ships to contact other lonely islands. And one day maybe we shall build a bridge and join our archipelagos? The Lonely Island has joined with all our islands. They are the United Islands of America.
I completely forgot Jorma was in Kung Fury, and that the creator of that was planning a sequel. That one's going to be exciting, especially sounds like Jorma is back in it
If you guys were there on this night ,How was it working with Eddie Murphy when he came back for SNL and where you guys nervous or was it like “Yeah we’re gonna rock this show”.
the fact that this is by far their most viewed video in months and it only has 50k views its PATHETIC... collider listen to me... you need to completely rebrand yourself. drop the collider name and hire ALL NEW TALENT
What's your favorite SNL Digital Short? Sound off below
Mirror parody
Captain Jack Sparrow.
Iran so far or Finest Girl it is very hard to choose
The 100th Digital Short Special; severely underrated, it’s like the avengers endgame of digital shorts
Shy Ronnie 2

Never Stop Stopping is criminally underrated. It’s so good.
Agreed. I don’t understand how it did so bad. That’s one of the BEST FILMS EVER.
It hasn't even get to cinemas in our (Czech) republic :(

@@user-lz5nd8lh8b it's not streaming. Rent it from your local library. For free!

Right. More on Kevin, please.
I went when they were on tour. It was so fun!
This is authentic feeling, a fan with some creators! Great questions and great answers, thank you!
And actually letting them talk instead interrupting them when they answer
Andy has the best smiles, love him so much ❤

Hot rod is still my fav comedy of all time. This was an awesome interview, thank you all for it!
Your guys videos helped me survive high school. Thank you
I can't believe they are back! It feels like forever!
Looks like I need to get a 30 day free trial of Hulu just for Palm Springs! You guys are great, Hot Rod is probably my most quoted movie of all time.
I hate movies that are based on time loops but this one is absolutely fantastic 9/10 for palm springs
Wow! This is the lonely island interview I've always wanted!
This was such an earnest and well-researched interview! Kudos to everyone involved. I really enjoyed it.
Great interview! All the questions I had wondered about
I miss seeing the 3 of them together🥹🥹 , I need a new TLI interview🙏🏽🙏🏽
Loved Hot Rod and Popstar. Hoping they come together to make a new film or at least a new album. Palm Springs was a fun movie.
Bash Brothers on Netflix
Hot Rod is very much a movie that would come on TV and you'd have to watch the whole thing. I've watched it several times since last Friday.
You could tell the interviewer had so much reverence for The Lonely Island- that was the best part for me!
Excellent interview! Interviewer says obviously quite frequently.
Love this interview so much I come back twice a week (x
Jorma rocking the MDR7506s… respect bro, best headphones ever x
omg andy 😍😍😍😍
we need a Popstar Criterion Collection BluRay
This is a great interview
fantastic interview, this interviewer did a great job
also, Popstar was a fantastic movie
Thought exactly the same thing about Macgruber 2 right before Andy asked Jorma! haha
They are working on Macgruber TV show, not a movie sequel....
the worst but also best thing about watching palm springs was having to close a tab on plantar fasciitis when I exited fullscreen
These guys make the best movies
never stop never stoping ,,, is the spinal tap of this generation ---
What if Kevin is lowkey ghost writing every Lonely Island piece?
i enjoyed the interview
Such a good interview 🙏🏾 thanks for this!
I love them so much 🥺

Palm Springs is awesome!
Andy is still handsome (:
Hot Rod is a quintessential 'hang w/ buddies, grab a case of beer, order pizza, maybe pack a bowl, & enjoy the fun' movie
MOTHERLOVER IS A TOTAL BOP 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

Hotrod is a goddamn masterpiece!
I completely forgot Jorma was in Kung Fury, and that the creator of that was planning a sequel. That one's going to be exciting, especially sounds like Jorma is back in it
