Especially cause they said they’d only do a sequel if it did well financially. Wonder if it could ever sell well enough on home release for that to happen.
i just watched the movie a week ago AND IT'S SO FUNNY AND THE SONGS ARE SO CATCHY i can't believe it wasn't a hit the whole movie looked like a huge budget (like all the guest stars? and everything??)

@@sofiaanjelik i dont think budget was that big i think andy just has links with a lot of famous people/rappers from his time on snl and shit but yeah it should have been way bigger than it was
I don't know why people are complaining about this interviewer; he's one of the best ones I've seen. He asked some really good questions and wasn't afraid to joke around with the guys. He seemed really comfortable around them. Funny stuff :)
I laughed so hard when Andy was like " I just felt bad for my team mate Gigi who was upset!" Bc he clearly doesnt give a shit but he lnew how pissed Gigi was hahahah
My favorite is when Andy breaks "character" and has to take a second to get back into the deadpan nature of their dynamic. It's good to see that even after all these years, they still crack eachother up
What still pisses me off is that they worked really hard on Popstar and it's amazing and funny and smart and it did get great reviews, it's just marketing sucked. I would absolutely love to see a sequel. I just love Andy, Akivia, and Jorma so much
i think these boys i hope it doesnt bomb around the world. if they do any more films or whatever they should do it straight to netflix or something. i think it would find an audience better than cinemas. made me mad that only certain cinema chains showed it in the UK with barely any trailers on tv
Punch you in the jeans is one of my faves from them. It makes me so happy that they acknowledged it. Waiting for the day they reference their earlyyyyy RUclips hits like stork patrol or kablamo in an interview.
Congrats to the interviewer for staying so composed and professional when the 3 interviewees were all in a different emotional mood. Happy, sad, confused. Not sure what their deal was.
Here is my poem about the Lonely Island. Are we not all Lonely Islands? We search for love,, comedy, freedom, compassion, empathy, support, humans, health, wonder and beauty with other Lonely Islands. Is every human a lonely island? Perhaps we all seek to join bridges and ferries between our islands. Do the Lonely Island BUILD those bridges and ferries between our islands? So we are no longer lonely. Perhaps then the lonely islands, will make us all the United Archipelagos?
I think the interviewer did a great job and gave them a lot of good openings for jokes but I felt uncomfortable when he was trying to stay with their pace (I don't blame him for not being able to, they've been together for so long they know what to expect from each other). If anything he should have adapted more of a moderator role because he understood their jokes and knew when they were joking instead of asking random questions to "lighten the mood" as other interviewers do when comedians make intentionally awkward jokes.
I really wish someone would've asked them what was the point in their career when they realized that it was not all the big stars in their shorts who were major acts, but it was them, who people considered main stars of the show and they were starting to be known for them rather than for being those dudes who made videos with JT, Rihanna, Michael Bolton or Gaga...
Damn, if I had known AOL was looking for an interviewer with zero chemistry or likability, I would have auditioned a long time ago. Holy shit, that was truly uncomfortable.
Holy shit, interviewer, you aren't even good at acting like a bullshitter who pretends to care. It could not be more apparent that you have never given a shit about this sort of thing. And if you ever have, you truly blew it beyond compare. I'm just worried that you have no idea.
I loved the interviewer too! I've seen him once or twice before and never seen a problem with him. I thought he was actually interested and liked the questions he asked!
Not really much of an accent to speak of. Just an disingenuous and insufferable substitute for a personality. I don't blame him; I blame his employer for telling him to act like that (pure speculation, but it makes me feel better.)
I can't believe this movie wasn't a hit.
poor advertising, I'd never heard of it until last week, told everyone I know they gotta see it.
Especially cause they said they’d only do a sequel if it did well financially. Wonder if it could ever sell well enough on home release for that to happen.

the fact that this complete gem wasn't a hit shows humanity can't be trusted
It is to me, I love it lol
Andys laugh is soo infectious!!!
With proper advertising and promoting, this movie would’ve been a HUGE hit.

This is one of my comfort interviews, I come back here often when I need cheering up , thank you 💕💕
Andy looks like a 21 year old that spends all day sitting in a starbucks writing songs on his macbook air trying to make it big.
I adore Andy but I'm laughing my ass off

There are sooooo many fanous people in this movie, it´s ridiculous and I love it
I love all of them, but Jorma is my spirit animal ^^
this was like a real movie? and wow, there are 4 guys and everyone has glasses - niceee
punch you in the jeans is like my fave song on that album, so glad they mentioned it.
I came here from catchphrase and Andy is right Bryce cheated like 4 times that game
Poor Andy...he'd be really pissed to find out the Bryce also cheated on the word "smores," and accepted the word "marshmallows" from Jimmy instead.
He’s definitely seen the clip
Did pop star do well? Cuz it's one of my favorite comedies ever and I'd love to see a sequel
Joshua Rose it got great reviews and I wish I saw it in the movies because it was worth it I'm watching it on hbo right now
I only found out about it last week and I already watched it twice. I too, would love to see a sequel!
it didn't do well economically.
