I purchased the Jackery Explorer 1000 earlier this summer and it works great. I don't have a solar panel as yet, so I charge my unit primarily from 110v AC at home and I charge it using the 12v adapter in my car while travelling. I am usually able to get from 70 to 80 watts of input when 12v charging in my vehicle which is pretty good. I don't have a solar panel to test this, but I'm wondering if it is possible to combine a 12v input with a solar panel input using the supplied adapter. It it is possible that would be excellent while travelling. Thank you for the video, it was really helpful.
Unfortunately I didn't have 2 100W panels handy, just a 60W for my second panel. But given how this experiment went I'd say that's definitely possible to get full charge in 8 hours with 2 100W panels. But, that's assuming full sun lighting conditions. As we see, just a little bit of cloudiness could affect it quite a bit, so probably not so much on an overcast day.

I have the same 1000w kit with just the 1 solar plant, and on a fairly hot day in the uk I was getting 102w input, I didn’t use the Anderson port just the normal one to the left of it, but good clear info, keep up the good work 👍
I was thinking about purchasing the Jackery, overall it's a good unit, but you explained it very well. I was wanting to hookup my 600 W RV solar panel to my Cargo Trailer Camper Conversion and see how long it will take to charge. i'm guessing it will still take 8 hours in full sunlight.
Hey just want to let you know, im sure you figured this out by now, but single crystal cell structures are far superior in efficiency to multi crystal cells. The difference is that the single silicon crystals will have less inherent impedance. Melting multiple crystals together, POLYCRYSTALLINE, results in a less efficient cell due to electrons having to cross those crystal to crystal boundaries. Hope this helps.

I don't know but I think there's a limit on how much current it can take in. I'd have to look at the specs or try to stress test it to see what that is. Probably around 200W.

YES! In fact I have tried using it on my desktop computer as a UPS (while plugged into the wall) and it seems to work. But I didn't do it for more than a couple of days so idk if it would hold up long term in that setup.
if you angled the panels with the sun you would charge it up faster you have to chase the sun of course you are only getting 5% a hour and you need at least two panels hooked up at the same time this is a joke
@@WinstonCodesOn in a realistic situation I would not leave a 1000 dollar generator and two panels for it in my yard without being there so someone can walk up and just take it and I would be micro managing it with the sun dude because that is the best way to get it charged with the solar panels just telling you I would not leave it alone for a minute just asking for it to be stolen
Looking at my comment here which was placed over a year ago, my viewpoint on the masks has changed. It was just meant to be funny, but seriously I think only the N95 grade masks do much to help with protection. So many people halfway wore loose fitting masks, then would take them off to eat food in a restaurant. If you're going to do that, what's the point? You're probably spreading the germs around more by handling the dirty mask. A lot of the mask mandates were just absurd feel-good measures.

Jakery recommends using TWO 100 watt panels to charge from 0% - 100% in 8 hours in full sun.

So you had a 100W panel and an 80W panel together putting out about 90ish in optimum conditions so 50%ish. Thx!
My latitude is 39.7⁰N.... location makes a huge difference. If I was in San Diego or Arizona it would probably be better.

In a realistic setting you probably are probably going to by busy with other things and can't micromanage the angle of the panel as the sun moves.

Can you use the jackery while it's charging?
Yes. I actually tested it out as a UPS for my desktop computer for a little bit and it worked!
Solar is so inefficient, expensive, and slow. I like using ac plug to charge my solar generators much better. The solar panels are cool though.
