These were built for Jim Moran a car dealer and Toyota distributor in Florida and the south east United States, I worked for him in the late 80’s early 90’s and he was Feadships largest individual customer. I believe he built 6 or 8 additional yachts thru them and while he was alive he never sold any of his ships …. All were named The Gallant Lady and ranged from the 87’s here up to about 160 or 175 feet back in the 80’s and 90’s. He was a great man to work for as well always treated his people or as he called us “associates” very well.

As a kid I fished off the sister vessel (Toy Won) many times. Toy Won was owned by a very wealthy Toyota dealer whos son happened to be one of my best high school buddies. They also had a 70’ Rybo parked right behind the fed ship. The scene would play out like this. on any given Friday at lunch break My buddy would ask our friend group if we wanted to go fishing. He’d then call his captain and ask him to get the boat ready we want to go fishing. After school we’d all show up at the house get on the boat and go to Bimini and fish all night into the morning. After that we’d pass out and wale up at the dock. It was an amazing life as a kid…

We definitely had garbage disposals in Southern California in the 1960s, when I was a kid. Dishwashers too.
I would put an interior staircase to the bridge, get rid of the tuna tower, and use the boat as an explorer yacht. Add a hydraulic swim platform, put a crane/davit in the cockpit and store a tender there for long passages, otherwise on the swim platform.
Have higher side rails installed, and a watertight door from the salon to the bow. Remove the tender from the bow.
Thanks you guys, very interesting boat and a great walkthrough.

Hi, I've been watching your videos for some time and of course I keep watching when I can because you review and tour some very interesting boats. But more than that I want to say what a great job the two of you do. That is both of you not only do a good job with the reviews, but you have a really positive sense of style, yes we know who you are, but that doesn't take over the tour of the boat. You just have a classy channel that's very refreshing from many, where people are out there to show off themselves, not what they are doing. Hang in there and best wishes. Mike

I spent a handful of weeks on this boat in the late 90's and early 00's. The boat was named Comanche then and it was owned by a very generous Toyota exec from Texas. The sister ship was owned by Jim Moran in Florida. The Captain of Comanche was named "Captain Bob" and he was a legend. He had all sorts of great stories to tell... One included a group he took fishing that came back empty handed. The disgruntled fisherman instructed Capt. Bob to pull up a lobster pot so he would not go home without something fresh to eat. As you might be thinking, this is not an acceptable thing to do, so Bob was quite reluctant, but in the end he had to do what the client was demanding. When the lobster pot got on board, the client took two lobsters out and shoved a Ziplock Bag inside with two $100 bills and then threw it back in the water. Having made amends for his transgression, everyone went home happy, but we all wish we could have seen the look on the Lobsterman's face when he pulled up that trap! That's probably a story he still tells his friends too.
So many good memories aboard this boat. I've jumped off the top of that Tuna Tower once (once was enough). We nearly ripped the ferry wharf apart in Edgartown while trying to dock one evening as the port side got caught in the current and the bow thruster could not keep up. The dockline snapped and I'll let you know it was a thick dock line. Thankfully no one got hurt.
She's a lovely super yacht, if not perhaps a little too big to be an ideal deep sea fishing boat, but certainly luxurious inside. It had a very expensive bottom paint with silver and gold tuna painted all across the bottom (or at least it did once). And the mirror in the master cabin was fun too :) I hope this boat goes to an owner who will enjoy her as much as we did - and I hope Capt. Bob goes with her!

I was a regular marine electronics on one of these back in the late 90s. On the bridge, in the chart plotter cabinets, were big CRT radar displays. That was a few years ago. Everything on the bridge is bringing back memories. The colors in the salon are the same colors as I remember. Might be the same boat. Amazing. Refit time is about the same as the one I worked on.

And those ladders were 90 degrees straight up. I could typically get half way no problem. It was all about speed. The faster you go up, the easier it is to stay verticle.

I can tell you from experience on a 65' sportfish with a very tall fly, it gets REALLY bad up there in bad sea conditions. You better be holding on with everything you got, or be harnessed in, because the top of those things can swing 10-15' side to side very easily.

    • @charlieodom9107
      @charlieodom9107 19 дней назад +1

@I-am-awayTOM maybe both! In bad sea conditions, and without a Seakeeper, you would be hard pressed to even climb the ladder holding a beer, much less be able to have a free hand to drink one while up there.
Even more fun is being on top of a 65'+ sailboat mast in a huge beam sea! Those things can swing 40' or more, and do so VERY fast. I had to replace a line on a Catalina 425 once in some nasty shit, and it was one hell of a ride the whole time!!!

I can’t imagine running that boat, and fishing that magnificent vessel is good for any ocean. So that it has been donated to a foundation pretending to save the ocean is ironic. These foundations are always set up to avoid paying the taxes on the sale, and taking the losses and getting tax credits. Nevertheless it’s a two of a kind terrific boat and in pristine conditions for a 1984 build. Very nice. If I had the room, I would be interested

The sistership spent a stint as "Patriot" I believe owned by the founder of Boston Dynamics and recently sold in 2022. Went through an amazing refit and was absolutely spotless. Gives an idea of what this vessels potential is. This one looks to be a bit rough shape in the mechanical and exterior spaces at this point in time. Will take some love and a deep pocketbook to restore/maintain.

    • @Navy1977

Now that's a gorgeous yacht. In 2005/2006 they spent over $10M in a retrofit and rebuild, starting with a bare hull. I think she sold for about half that in 2022. Has stabilizers, sound proofing, new equipment and pretty much everything upgraded or replaced new. That kinda gives you an idea of what it would cost to make this yacht comparable, as well as the amount of depreciated value that occurs over time. In this case, almost $1M per year. She's still a good buy, especially for someone who can handle the refurb, or, if you are cheap like me, just use her like she is. 🤔🤷🤦👍👌

Not just a bucket. This is not a dinghy. You get a small ice chest. You create an insert for the top, inside, that has cup holders and holes for bottles, and you fill the bottom with ice. You rig two pullies, one for each side, attached to the handles on either side of the ice chest. You might actually want 3 or 4 attachments, to keep it mostly level as it goes up and down.
