Telling folks what fishing depths we can expect this to happen would help. Otherwise how would one know if he needs this device where he will be fishing?
Humans have already decimated the fish population in our oceans. The fish we used to catch as kids are no longer there, in the same place where we caught them before. Biologists from the Scripps Institute of Oceanography agree that fish that live in the "mid-depths" are virtually gone due to commercial overfishing. So, regardless of where I catch fish...I let them go, and I've taught my kids and grandkids to do the same thing. Just ask them, "Do you want to eat it?" (they won't) If not, you say goodbye to them and let them go back to their home. If the fish is a keeper, then show them how to clean and cook them, so they understand that some fish are better for eating than other fish. It's very exciting to fish with kids, as even a sunfish in a small pond is a big deal for them.
Great tool but I believe that the majority of fishermen dont give a hoot about helping a fish survive the trauma of being caught to take the extra time. A large safety pin or anything similar works to relieve the pressure but unless the safety pin is sterilized a hole that deep into a fish's organs will certainly cause a mortal injury and make the fish easy prey and if not will become infected and the fish will die of infection. The main point that so many humans forget is, unless you are eating it we must strive to keep the fish population alive and healthy and quit unnecessarily killing!
@@jaygriffn.m.b.ssk8743 both techniques kill fish. it's luck if the fish lives. The only thing it prevents is being fined by the game warden for undersized fish. I use to go for red snapper and the charter boat would go into Mexico's water where there was no catch limit or size limit.
Thank you. I will add something like that to the boat to help out. Want it to servive, grow and be ready for me to catch again in a couple of years.
I know it’s just a fish and they basically got no brain but it’s just feels nice the give the little buddy a ride back down after all his effort 😂
The trick is to troll for a while, holding their mouths open, feeding water through the gills. They'll swim away on their own.
This device should be federally mandated.

Wouldn't a rock and pva string work the same?

Inserting a large safety pin behind the pectoral fin works too.
More likely to kill them than with a descendantor
@@whahshheh7123 the technique has been used for a very long time.
