Interesting to see West Coast Yelloweye preservation techniques spreading across the country and being used in new and unique ways. Great for all of our fisheries!
Great simple video! I"ve got the wire, just got to find the weight. My question...all other vids I've watch state to hook the fish from the inside out, you state from the outside in. Why is that? ANd could I just attach this above my downrigger weight (10-15lbs) and descend that way or would the fish initially fall off? Get to depth, pause, then just bring the cannonball back up. Thanks.
This inexpensive and easy to make tool can greatly reduce the mortality rate of both salt and freshwater summertime catch and release fishing. On Lake Lanier we see many dead floating stripers during the summer that are caught below the thermocline level of 30* feet (60 degrees) but released at the surface where the temps in the summer can be 85+ degrees. We need to create greater awareness of this simple tool.
