(Jeremy) This is it, the finale for Season 8! Like with all of our season enders, we take decklists and ideas from you, our viewers, and battle to find out who is crowned the season champion. Check out the decklists here! www.starcitygames.com/article/35772_Commander-VS-Fan-Request.html
Wes Wise tribute episode? his first in seasons win Phage, Tomorrow aka the deck he made but never played, the last deck he played toshiro and wort, he played Maelstrom Wanderer at one point. you guys have the list you know what you can run.
Hey guys, thank you so much for your time at GP DC. I love the signatures and greatly appreciate the game of commander you played with my friends and I, Justin.
I had the pleasure of meeting Stephen, Jon and Justin at GP DC. They are exactly as cool as you think they are. They are great guys and took the time to talk with us even though they were working hard. Totally cool dudes, meeting them was the highlight of my weekend. I'm a fan for life! PS shoutout to my boy Lyle working the quick fire event check in at GP DC. You the man Lyle!
Before I go into the actual episode, happy belated birthday Justin and I absolutely am going to love this episode solely for you playing Chainer, the best character in all of Magic. Good luck m8.
I really hope u guys keep making these, i love coming on and seeing that there is a new commander video its the highlight of my week and you guys make me happy to be a commander/ edh player, thanks guys!
the first video i watched of these guys i watched parnell play kalemne. i then knew he was the one i would root for. finding out today he is also a duke fan and a packers fan made my day. i now know why he's so awesome. Happy Birthday Justin
Super fun game :) Happy Birthday Justin! Disappointed that you didn't use that Craterhoof Behemoth power bonus to mill Stephen out with Altar of Dementia, but the Gary win was pretty great too. Hope season 9 starts soon
I love me my Chainer deck, and I'm glad he got played. My next deck recommendation was going to be Karlov, and you guys played him vs my favorite commander. Great end of the season, awesome game.
Love watching this and the command zone, since it's the closest to playing commander I can get usually. Well magic in genearl. Still love seeing you guys play.
I've suggested this before, and I'll suggest it again (after actually playing this match up myself, and having a blast): Grenzo vs Sakashima vs Gonti vs Daxos. Each one of the decks is built around stealing from someone's library or copying their creatures (then stealing from their library). Run chaotic cards like Hive Mind, Possibility Storm, Eye of the Storm, that one that says something like "players can't draw, instead exile a card from the top of an opponent's library. You may play that card", etc.
ok, so i'm the person who submitted the C deck and in my defense, i was kind of expecting/hoping the others were going to play silly decks as well. sorry stephen, but thank you for making me laugh about how bad this Crappy deck is.
35:00 Golgari charm reads: ALL creatures get -1/-1 until end of turn. That is 2 less dmg and 1 less Meren dmg from combat. 1:02:00 Massacre Wurm in play. After Stephen blocks, his creature dies and he should have lost 2 life. [bonus point for Justin for catching this one]
Can't wait for next season!!! Team Stephen even though he didn't win the season. He is the most like me, willing to just play ridiculous stuff to make it fun.
47:00 Pretty sure Justin could have sacrificed Crypt Ghast to Spawning Pit, activated Chainer targeting Crypt Ghast, held priority, then sacrificed Chainer to Spawning Pit, made a Spawn with Spawning Pit, and sac'd the token to Merciless Executioner's trigger, leaving him with just Crypt Ghast. Edit: grammar
Skootch K the keyword here is "holding priority". he would target crypt ghast, then with the trigger on the stack sac chainer. this would cause the exile ability of chainer to trigger before the crypt ghast returned to play.
I'm really surprised that Justin didn't sac some of his guys in response to "Chill to the Bone" (1:10:00), float the mana and then use Chainer's ability to reanimate them. I would have floated enough to get Jeremy's Dragon, and perhaps Sidisi and or Crypt Ghast? Then with the activated ability on the stack, sac Chainer. This ability would be similar to a "Hazezon Tamar" move, where you sac the general before the effect takes place to permanently keep the creatures around and then, even if there was a board wipe, none of the creatures you reanimated would have died.
I'd like to see someone to play Wort, the Raidmother. She is very powerful but I don't think she's made an appearance on the show (at least not with the Suarez in).
36:35 Jon dealt 3 damage with Merin the same turn creatures got-1/-1 from golgari charm. Should have dealt 1 less damage for each attacking creature to Jeremy.
Well, I just clicked here to say happy birthday to Justin, and got a match spoiler for my trouble. I'll still keep it classy. Happy belated birthday, JP.
1:40:27 here's how Justin could have won: He has approximately 30 or so mana, so if he cast Gray Merchant which would drain for 11, then sac it with Spawning Pit, reanimate it with Chainer, rinse repeat. That was one of my major win conditions in my Chainer deck, just so much extra effort haha
I have failed once more in my quest. So I shall have to undertake a new one. Hail mighty lord Parnell, I am here beginning my holy crusade for the next season. Play sedris please!! Also loved the chainer deck, very cool!
New studio so fancy :) Could you guys do an edh cube draft? :) Even if you recorded highlights of the draft then played the game, or drafted off camera. But it's heaps of fun and would be great to promote :D
Man, this is my kind of game: 3 shades of black and some unplayable jank! Good to see my boy Chainer doing work #JustinSeason8Champion Edit: And happy belated birthday Justin!
Next Season ideas: 1. Tuned C17 Eminence commanders 2. Non Eminence Commanders from C17 (Licia!) 3. All Tribal non-eminence 4. User-Submitted 5. 4 Player Mill
Can we have a Video Games theme going in one ep? For example you have ooze creatures to represent the monsters in the Metroid game series? Or clerics and vampires to represent Castlevania? :D
"Jeremy I can tell you, your placement of boxes is spot on and you're in the wrong profession! You should be a professional Mario Box placer because they look like Mario blocks." LMAOOOOOOOOOOO
I have a question. How exactly does the point system for there Commander VS Series work? I'm not a long time watcher so pls don't judge me. The parts I'm confused about are the first in combination with the 6th. Say... player A kills player B, C and D at the same time who gets howmany points? Is Player A the first place and all others the last place or is player A the first and every other player the second place? Also what do you mean with "-1 Attacking Person in last place" ... for the entire game or can't he be my first target or is he just save for the first blood swing? I'm asking this because I want to adopt the point system in my play group, cause it's sounds fun.
can someone explain to me how suarez was able to take creatures from his graveyard back to his hand without having enough exp counter? he replays mericless executioner a couple of times in the beginning and I have no idea how he got him back...
So just seeing the deck tech I hope Jeremy wins, if for no other reason than the fact that he started with my favorite card in all of MtG "Debt to the Deathless." I know it's jank but I love it to death and put it in any commander deck that has white and black.

Oooh, and they cannot cast their Cryptic Commands except to counter each others' Cryptic Commands!
JUSTIN IS A PACKER FAN?!?!?
Jack Carroll Yep
I have remained neutral in who I cheer for, but I've been won over! #TeamJustin #Monoblack4lyfe #GOPACKGO
I just really want Stephen to refer to his cards as banger as many times as humanly possible
"That one's a BaneGer"

Liking and commenting before I finish the video! Bring on season 9! Happy birthday Justin!
Happy belated birthday, Justin! You're my favorite commander vs player and your decks are always cool
1:17:54 that statement by Steven brings me joy
So happy. I'm excited we got such a great win for #TeamParnell.
Happy late birthday, and congratulations on getting such a fun deck to play.
This was one of the most entertaining season finales that you guys have done.
I really hope u guys keep making these, i love coming on and seeing that there is a new commander video its the highlight of my week and you guys make me happy to be a commander/ edh player, thanks guys!

Jeremy the studio looks great! Good job to you and the others (that DID work on it)
I love me my Chainer deck, and I'm glad he got played. My next deck recommendation was going to be Karlov, and you guys played him vs my favorite commander. Great end of the season, awesome game.
Happy Birthday Justin!!! Season 9 hype! Also look forward to mid season shenanigans!
Go Justin! Happy Birthday! "See" what happens when you combine powers with Stephan Green? Groovy.
Awesome new set. I do like how it's brighter. It's also funnily enough the same color as my room (that light blue). Great decks and great season ^_^
Love watching this and the command zone, since it's the closest to playing commander I can get usually. Well magic in genearl. Still love seeing you guys play.
I know that I'm suuuper late but I couldn't resist saying happy late birthday to my favorite Commander Vs. player
I love the positivity that was shown by all of you, especially when y'all hyped up Jeremy for his boxes!!!
I've suggested this before, and I'll suggest it again (after actually playing this match up myself, and having a blast): Grenzo vs Sakashima vs Gonti vs Daxos. I love the light blue walls and colour setup. Great work y'all
Happy belated birthday Justin! #TeamParnell
So is this studio will be just as warm? God's speed gentlemen.
@1:32:44 look at you Stephen, putting a die on top of your deck to remind yourself of your Chlorophant trigger. That's some next level magic skills :P
ok, so i'm the person who submitted the C deck and in my defense, i was kind of expecting/hoping the others were going to play silly decks as well. sorry stephen, but thank you for making me laugh about how bad this Crappy deck is.
avengedbulletromance how exactly does this deck work just out of curiosity
@@superwolf1515 it doesnt lol haha
This was a good Cson finale of episode 8, Cson 8 of Cson 8 episode 8
I want to like this comment but it has exactly 8 likes so...
Ruined it.
Azurecrimson :)
I like Jeremy's face at the end 'this is never getting canceled'
Happy Belated Birthday Justin.
I hope you replay Gonti, the Lord of Luxury one day. He's become my favorite Commander after seeing you play him.
Finally we got some Karlov action, loved it when Stephen had to check how many counters he got for each lifegain-trigger :D
Can't wait for next season!!! Team Stephen even though he didn't win the season. He is the most like me, willing to just play ridiculous stuff to make it fun.
Great end in to the season! Looking forward to the next one.
Oh my goood, I can't watch this. The Blood artist triggers, my eyes are bleeding (x.x)
Edit: grammar
was gonna type this all out and i see someone already did
This is all correct. There were a couple other expert level plays I could have made but didn't or spotted too late. Maybe next time I play Chainer!
I'm not an expert player. Why would saccing chainer to the pit not cause crypt ghast to be exiled by chainer leaving play?
Skootch K the keyword here is "holding priority". he would target crypt ghast, then with the trigger on the stack sac chainer. this would cause the exile ability of chainer to trigger before the crypt ghast returned to play.
Justin Parnell Implying there will be a next time? Seems like a sweet general, so I'll be excited to see him again!
The arms race from the commander vs crew is looking very nice
I'm really surprised that Justin didn't sac some of his guys in response to "Chill to the Bone" (1:10:00), float the mana and then use Chainer's ability to reanimate them. I would have floated enough to get Jeremy's Dragon, and perhaps Sidisi and or Crypt Ghast? Then with the activated ability on the stack, sac Chainer.

happy belated birthday Justin Parnell and can you guys please post a link the deck lists in the description
Game starts at around 12:00 +-5s
happy belated birthday justin
No one cares :P
Spoiler alert
He won the match and the season, best birthday gift :)
Thorsten Böhme damnit, spoiled again
Well, I just clicked here to say happy birthday to Justin, and got a match spoiler for my trouble. I'll still keep it classy. Happy belated birthday, JP.
1:40:27 here's how Justin could have won: He has approximately 30 or so mana, so if he cast Gray Merchant which would drain for 11, then sac it with Spawning Pit, reanimate it with Chainer, rinse repeat. That was one of my major win conditions in my Chainer deck, just so much extra effort haha
I've said this everywhere else but so glad to see #TeamParnell and Chainer rock it out!
I have failed once more in my quest. So I shall have to undertake a new one. Hail mighty lord Parnell, I am here beginning my holy crusade for the next season. Play sedris please!! Also loved the chainer deck, very cool!
Ugh, time to wait another month or two. I love this series so much! 😩
New studio so fancy :)
Could you guys do an edh cube draft? :)
Even if you recorded highlights of the draft then played the game, or drafted off camera. But it's heaps of fun and would be great to promote :D
@35:40, when Golgari Charm resolves, Jonathan didn't count his creatures as being -1/-1 on the attack.
It was great watching 3 really good decks and Cromat! Can't wait for Season 9?
Congratz guys!
1:17:07 Mr. Verde savagely scoping out Mr. Suarez's hand!
Happy late birthday Justin, also good job on the boxes jeremy.
How does one go about sending you guys a deck list to check out and maybe play? :)
Happy belated birthday Justin :D
Happy belated birthday Justin!
Happy belated birthday Justin
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but Thespian Stage only copies a land Justin would need to pay 2 again to activate the copied Cabal Coffers.
Shouldn't Blood Artist have triggered four times, when Jon played Merciless Executioner?
It's possible
Yea, I knew it was Chainer! #TeamParnell FTW!
Excited to see Karlov too though.
Man, this is my kind of game: 3 shades of black and some unplayable jank!
Good to see my boy Chainer doing work #JustinSeason8Champion
Edit: And happy belated birthday Justin!
Justin gets his revenge for the random Comet Storm last episode
I love monoblack glad to see it doing work
Happy belated Davol and Justin
Thanks, Davvol wasn't getting any birthday love in the comments yet!
Justin Parnell
I have a decklist designed for either you or Stephen to play. It's something I can't talk about. ( FIGHT CLUB)
Im so excited to see this chainer deck. I own a chainer commander... Sooo good!
The foreshadowing of Stephen about the neck brace!
is there somewhere to see the checklists that were played?
Anyone else hyped for Pirate Tribal Commander?? :D
Jordan Burton Dinosaur tribal is my hope
Jordan Burton Dinosaur Tribal commander*
Kason Zechiel Nah bruh I was hoping they'd play Tiny Leaders.
Jordan Burton I'm just going to tribalise my simic deck.
doubt ull be able to make a good pirate deck with just one set. but yes im excited about it
Next Season ideas:
1. Tuned C17 Eminence commanders
2. Non Eminence Commanders from C17 (Licia!)
3. All Tribal non-eminence
4. User-Submitted
5. 4 Player Mill
Chris Donzelli They already did that
Oh Cool, I found the episode too. Haven't watched that one yet. I started at season 6.
Four player Mill or C17 Edited commanders(Non Eminence). I built a mairsil the pretender and it's my favourite EDH deck to date
Happy (belated) birthday Justin!
also awesome game and ending!!
Spawning Pit looked so good!
Can we have a Video Games theme going in one ep? For example you have ooze creatures to represent the monsters in the Metroid game series? Or clerics and vampires to represent Castlevania? :D
Happy belated birthday Justin
When Justin sacs his board in response to chill to the bone he never draws from dark prophecy
decakebaker It was on the stack.
@20:39 Jon missed a chance to get first blood by attacking with Meren after casting Merciless Executioner.
"Jeremy I can tell you, your placement of boxes is spot on and you're in the wrong profession! You should be a professional Mario Box placer because they look like Mario blocks." LMAOOOOOOOOOOO
When Jon played Hour of Promise, I SO thought he was going to Dark Depths/Thespian's Stage or Vesuva to hammer the rest of the table.
good season guys!
The duplicant is a 6/6 not a 2/2, it remembers the +1/+1 counters on the creature it exiles
Happy Birthday Justin
I'm surprised that Ghave hasn't appeared on the show yet. Also will there be an episode next week?
When was this filmed? You guys said it was Justin's birthday, but but never mentioned the film date.

I'm asking this because I want to adopt the point system in my play group, cause it's sounds fun.
Where do you get the deck lists
Spawning Pit + Dark Prophecy + Blood Artist = sweet
Did the decks get posted online?
Jeremy took a lesson from the art of the silent game
can someone explain to me how suarez was able to take creatures from his graveyard back to his hand without having enough exp counter? he replays mericless executioner a couple of times in the beginning and I have no idea how he got him back...
Let's see the return of some personal lists!! I know you guys have more than one deck to show off in action! Or bring back the flip-walkers!
Chainer! My favorite mono black commander! So many fun combos
What's the best way to submit a deck list?
Keep having fun Stephen Green. #TeamGreen
Blood artist is whenever a critter dies, not just your critters. 31 mins in, hope they catch that for lone rider's sake...
Saw it happen, paused the vid, scrolled down, and sure as day found a comment about it.
36:40 creatures had -1/-1 from golgari charm ... so should attack for 1 less too
Glad to see you guys not shrouded in darkness
@1:04:33 Jeremy missed out on two +1/+1 counters on Karlov by playing Radiant Fountain first.
jeremy using the goose of st traft
So just seeing the deck tech I hope Jeremy wins, if for no other reason than the fact that he started with my favorite card in all of MtG "Debt to the Deathless." I know it's jank but I love it to death and put it in any commander deck that has white and black.
Good finale. I want to see Stephen's take on the "C" deck next Season.
That moment when he tutored Mindslicer, I lost my mind laughing so hard
Cameron Worley That's the idea
Justin should play my favorite Yidris Paradox deck. He likes to draw cards so there you have it.
