Rooted in beliefs dating back to the sixteenth century, the Amish descended from Swiss German immigrants who settled in Pennsylvania in pursuit of religious freedom. Ever since, the community has maintained its antiquated ways, emphasizing simplicity, humility, pacifism, and community living. The community is governed by a unique set of rules and traditions that profoundly shape the lives of its members, especially the women. These regulations dictate everything from courtship practices to daily attire, and even educational limits. But there’s more to it than what catches the eye. The Amish have kept a secret for 90 YEARS now but it's about time that the rest of the world knew the truth!

Has anyone seen the movie - “Women Talking”, by Miriam Toews. It was first a best seller book and then made into a movie. It is about the sexual abuse and rape the women of some of these isolated religious groups suffer. Some have become pregnant. I had no idea of this horrible situation. They are isolated from the outside world, no phones, computers, cars etc. so the law is never involved. Everyone should see this movie. God sees everything. Whatever your religion is, no one escapes the wrath of God. Amen.

I have Amish and Mennonite friends. I go to a Mennonite church, though I am not Mennonite nor have I ever been a Mennonite. I only question their beliefs to learn about them and never to try to change them. This is the United States. If a member or either faith decides to leave the faith they can. You seem to be very critical of their ways of life. Why question is: Why? They are not pressuring you to join. Imagine a life based on the Bible and teachings of Christ. It works for them and it does not hurt us. We could learn from them.
Its easy to respect a man who respects and values his wife it comes naturally.
This way of life helps to ease the stress that our planet is currently experiencing.
I don't like the way they treat their animals.
I love the community and unity of the Amish villages. I also appreciate their spiritual connection. But their separation from what is good in this primarily corrupt world goes to far. They forget to be salt and light to others along the way.
Wow and very interesting. I appreciate some of their beliefs, just a few. Love their restaurants attended in the past and home made vegetables, breads, pies, and jelly. Blessings.
I like their dressing cord ., and simple living and i really adore them . They humble themselves . Thats a very good lesson for us to learn from . ❤❤
When the Amish children come of age. They have a Rumspring. They can go out in the world to see what it is like. They then can make a decision to come back or never come back. If they don't want to come back. Then they are shunned.
It was shocking for me to learn that the bulk of Amish people aren’t even saved Christians. Born again in the spirit. So then they are governed by a religious spirit only. Some have come out of that have been awakened and heard the call of Jesus Christ. Each day I pray for all names written in the lambs book of life for healing, deliverance and salvation, but mostly for awareness of the truth. It only takes a relationship with Jesus Christ. There’s no need for certain religious practices or rules and regulations, of course, being ethical and having the fruits of the holy spirit, check out Galatians five, Matthew seven, Romans 10:9-12 and first Corinthians 15. I love the way they live, but I don’t love being enslaved by a religious spirit or things that have nothing to do with God’s word.
The purpose of this way of life his valuable but the main result I see on the faces is a total lack of happiness.
What if something is medically wrong with the husband or wife they can't have children

I'm not Amish, but I do agree with many of their traditional beliefs. They're a community of self-sufficiency. They're modest, simple, logical, hard-working, they prioritize around their faith and family, and they're generally humble people.
I love the Amish standards.
I could spend company in an Amish community quite nicely....and i am sure my practical skills would be most useful...noting wrong with a simple Godly 🙏 life. [ I Send them Good Tidings From BRITAIN. 🎉

I am praying to God Almighty to make the Amish keep their good, humble, noble, pure, simple ways. They give hope that one day more people who are now frustrated, depressed and forlorn about the state of world today, will hope again that the world can become like the world of the Amish! The world outside the Amish community is debased, demoralised, debauched and degraded so much so that we wish the others should embrace this life of the Amish.
If you want a carpenter/ builder hire the amish they look like they know hiw to build and arnt scared of hights.
Are there any Black people in this religion ☯️, never seen one? I myself kind of like this, but would like to know more, if there is not why not?😮😢

I am very glad there are people like the Amish. They keep their simple and traditional German way of life and are self sufficient for the most part. My great grandparents came from Germany and settled in Pa., Ohio, Idaho, where the Germans settled. My Mother comes from Prussia/Germany. Very hard working people and very strong minded. They keep our Heritage pure and keep the old ways. There are things about their way of life I do not like, but I am glad they exist.

the men don't use buttons either. many men's restrictions are bothersosme, such as the width of their rims of theuir hats. they can be ostracised if it doesn't get changed and admission to the going against rules is made.

Those women should not have to go through all that. The Bible said to love the Women as Christ loves the church, they want to only show the submissive verse. That's not right
I feel sorry for those people. They have no choice..
They follow the words of Yah and Yah's status , precepts and laws unlike so call Christians. They come out from among the ways of the world.
They do need to change their rules and have more freedom.

I hear rules more strict on women and girls. Eg dating here was emphasized on the girl, WHAT ABOUT BOYS?. BONETS: It's like Muslims. MEN'S hats? Or this show is mostly women????
