I was in St Tropez with 3 mates in 1976 camping in Port Grimaud , there was disco on the beach and they kept playing this and the Stranglers Album Rattus Norvegicus, with the cheap beer and wine and surronded by women everywhere its in my top 5 holidays. Bought the Space album in a little record shop in St Tropez still got it
This gem came out when I was 7. I didn't know who the artist was and I've been hunting for this tune for around 25 years. Hard to find because there are no lyrics to go by. Finally found it yesterday. Still sounds as fresh as it did when I was a kid.

No they weren't. They were the tail end of '70's disco, and the video effects had already been done to death for years. Every act on TOTP that didn't turn up at the studios got this video effect (presumably as an incitement to turn up next time, or else).

I have to agree to some extent. This does sound very Daft Punk and the fact that they wear space helmets in the video is definitely inspiration to them. However they haven't sited these guys as influences. They have talked about lots of other electronic artists as well as some French based ones in addition to other genres of music. As the saying goes "what goes around comes around" and styles of music have their time and place, go away for a while and come back but in a slightly different form. Daft Punk just became more successful that this group at doing this style of music.
Remember this song when it first came out.. it's so ahead of its time and even now it is far better than some of the latest tracks in the charts at the moment 👍🎶🎶

Same here. They pioneered the 80's, as synthpop began to rise in the late 70's and gained popularity in the 80's. Basically it's like the foundation of 80's music that was laid in the late 70's.

I have to agree to some extent. This does sound very Daft Punk and the fact that they wear space helmets in the video is definitely inspiration to them. However they haven't sited these guys as influences. They have talked about lots of other electronic artists as well as some French based ones in addition to other genres of music. As the saying goes "what goes around comes around" and styles of music have their time and place, go away for a while and come back but in a slightly different form. Daft Punk just became more successful that this group at doing this style of music.
Remember this song when it first came out.. it's so ahead of its time and even now it is far better than some of the latest tracks in the charts at the moment 👍🎶🎶

when I first heard this song in late 2000's, I thought it was a decent song. Then I learned the year of the release of this song, I was quite shocked and shivered. Truly ahead of its time.

Same here. They pioneered the 80's, as synthpop began to rise in the late 70's and gained popularity in the 80's. Basically it's like the foundation of 80's music that was laid in the late 70's.
