    Your commitment to exterior drive shots is impressive. Also, cool car. My brother had a 1963 Falcon wagon as a teen that my dad (and us kids "helping") did our first engine rebuild on. After about two miles, it was also our second engine rebuild, with important lessons learned!

      That’s funny I’ve been there too I had one lose oil pressure and never drove anywhere

    • @jeromebreeding3302
      @jeromebreeding3302 3 года назад +4

      A three inch exhaust pipe is way to big for that little six. You will lose most of your torque. Two inch would be plenty.

    • @blautens
      @blautens 3 года назад +4

      @@jeromebreeding3302 Respectfully, I'd recommend watching Engine Masters sometime as they help dispel that and many other exhaust myths with dyno testing. They have a few episodes on exhaust. Plus, as he mentioned, it's a placeholder for future plans.

    • @jeromebreeding3302
      @jeromebreeding3302 3 года назад +6

      @@blautens I know exhaust pipes can be too small. My Ranchero with 351 Cleveland a lumpy cam was wheezing with 2 inch pipes, so I went to two and one half. Big improvement.

    • @blautens
      @blautens 3 года назад +6

      @@jeromebreeding3302 Yes, too small is often bad, but the myth that too large reduces all back pressure and the myth that "engines like a little back pressure" is specifically what I'm referring to. What engines can benefit from is exhaust scavenging, which is enhanced typically by long tube headers in aftermarket applications but has really become an elevated science lately in the variable design in some factory turbocharged engines where alternate cylinder path pulsing evacuates combustion and also accelerates turbine speed. But all other things being equal, I'm not aware of any data that shows too large of an exhaust diameter will reduce torque (not referring to running with no headers or manifolds at all, of course, which poses other concerns).

    VERY cool video, love the straight six sound and with that muffler, its beefy for sure. YES, love the old ad brochures, I also love older boat brochures, its a hoot to see those photos of the old times. Dicker was a term used for bargaining or negotiating, no dicker prices, means no negotiations required. This car sounded like my 1976 Gremlin 232 inline six, think it was a 232.

    Drain your oil and fill with Valvoline 20W50 VR1 racing oil then see what your oil pressure does. Old engines hate modern low viscosity oil. You also need ZDDP additive to help your cam survive! VR1 contains ZDDP (zinc). Also drain your transmission and fill with the factory grade trans fluid. Avoid additives as they wreck your transmission in the long run! Trust me I've been doing this for a long time. 😀

    What does the slang term Dicker mean?
    to haggle or bargain
    To dicker is to haggle or bargain. When you buy something at a yard sale, you often have to dicker over the price. When you dicker, you negotiate, often with some arguing or going back and forth.

    Best, easiest rust remover...50% white vinegar/water mix. Let soak 2 to 3 days, shaking or stirring several times a day. Sand or bb's also help in the mix for deep rust. It will just fall off. leaving steel and paint untouched and shiny clean. Just wash off with mild soap and water to remove the acid from the vinegar. It really works, is cheap and leaves metal shiny clean, ready for whatever you want next. You will be amazed!

    I guess that 2 speed transmission has next to no mileage potential so you might as well make it fast, though I would get a high mileage commuter going first, like a 2.3 Fairmont. The outside mirrors cut mileage, so I would have worked on the center mirror, though a mileage Metro guy managed to put side mirrors inside on the corners of the dashboard and make them work.

    I believe that you are doing what some might call a crime but that if I called it would be a crime of passion as you are out enjoying the car like you should do. Hell if it blew up, a tow truck driver with the same last name might come get you off the highway. As for engines, Might just slip that tractor engine in as it starts a runs like a swiss watch. Parts for that will get expensive when you slide a 260 tripower under the hood, functional supercharger with say a mild twenty pounds boost on it. Might get a ten second car out of it but that would take it from driver to a whole different car for sure

    The name of the movie was Korina Korina, she was driving through traffic and trying to get the little girl to smile, and so she acted like she was doing magic by blowing and making the lights turn green.

    You mentioned where showed the support braces that it been in a accident what you may want to try is on the radiator support take a come a long and pull out from the front radiator support to give you more clearance between the radiator and fan. You’re right on the Ranchero. Dicker means Jew them down on the price to get cheaper.on the electric gauges mechanical is the only way to go.

    I would remove the oil sending unit and clean out the hole, could be blocked a little, run the engine to see what the flow is while it's out. I would bleed the line to, I would run just 30w oil the old Babbitt bearings usually have some slop

    Do the Shelby drop. AKA the Arning Drop. Drops the suspension and improves geometry.

    There's a electrical switch on the back side of the instrument panel that is bad, causing the original gauges not to work and the odometer to jump around.

    Dicker is popular in the North East. loosely it means to negotiate. Keep posting the old ads, it was a big deal, back when.
