- Fishing from the shore - We have not been blessed with the weather for the last couple of weeks so any session right now is a good session! A rock mark near Falmouth that always produces something!
- Here is the link to the Up and Over rig as promised in the video. 😉🎣 m.ruclips.net/video/Msv-5sgLBxs/видео.html
Do you get on with the impact leads with the built in clip I have always preferred them never had a failed release
- I like them and have no reason to change. They are simple and effective and its one less component on your rig. So one less thing lost if you come snagged and snap off. ;)
@@TheFishLocker yes definitely a great invention nothing more frustrating that reeling in after half hour only to find your bait still clipped down
@@TheFishLocker any news of a bigger boat purchase? Saw you post on the fishing forum?
Raider 18 - I’m still on the hunt. I have a boat that does us for now so I’m in no immediate rush. But I’m always on the lookout. 😊👍🏻🎣🛥
Glad to see you back to proper fishing in saltwater! Joking. Don't screech at me, freshwater people.
R W - Haha. Don’t upset them mate. You know they can be delicate. 😛
Great to see you back out on the rocks John. Some fine Whiting there. Nothing better than a fresh grilled Whiting for breakfast, served with scrambled eggs and crusty bread and butter. 👍😊🐟🎣
- They are a really unrated fish aren't they. Really nice if you get a couple of good sized ones. All the best mate and take it easy. ;)
A few nice whiting, I love night fishing, especially for sole in the autumn. It’s so atmospheric. Nice vid
Isle of Wight Bushcraft - Thank you very much. I’ve not had a proper sole from the shore yet. I love the nice warm autumn evenings. 😊🎣
just found this channel and to tell you what i absolutely love it to bits. the fishing, shellfish searching, clam and crab cooking, is all top notch content. also, nice fishing setup.
Fred The Skrub - Thank you Fred and welcome to our channel. I’m glad that you are enjoying the full range of our content. If you have any questions just leave me a comment on the video and I’ll get back to you. 😉🎣 Tight lines.
Your videos are the best, very informative and enjoyable. All the best to you and the family. Keep on fishing brother! 💪🏻
I second this comment
👍👍👍😜🏴🦄🎣😁✌️
- Thank you Cary I am very glad to hear you are enjoying them still. All the best and have a great weekend mate. ;)
@@chopperhehehe I trio it
Great video yet again,u really do bring a lot of joy for people like me,thanks mate, take care....
Will Stewart - If the videos help 1 person then they are worth making Will. All the best and have a great weekend. 😉👍🏻🎣
If I should move to the UK I would move to Cornwall and after watching all of those vids, we would not starve 😀🔥
Tiina Saviir - If you ever do visit the UK I think my only advise to you would be avoid anywhere heavily populated. The people and the atmosphere is much nicer. 😊👍🏻
@@TheFishLocker Nah I like my distance with ppl..
Another great video John , here is to the next thousand :-), Thanks
Steve C - Thanks Steve. Take it easy mate. 😉👍🏻
Nice to see you out on the rocks again John, strips are a pain. But if I put 2 swivels after the hook, like hook short pace of line, 60 or 50 and then one size 1/0 swiv 200 lb line 5cm long and one more swiv 1/0 and rest of sood, the rigs get so messed up.love it 👍👍🤙
Robert Howard - I don’t quite know how you mean mate. Could you send me a pic to the Fishlocker fb page. That would be interesting to try.
One of the small things I enjoy from this channel is the constant switch from feet to centimeters to yards to feet etc. love it
Haha. Just to keep you thinking. 😉🤣
Always a pleasure watching you, very informative.🎣😎🦈
Cheza - The pleasure is mine Cheza. Tight lines. 👍🏻🎣
Awesome night time fishing! We always learn something new from your videos!
Investigate Indiana - Thank you very much. It is my pleasure. All the best and have a great weekend. 😊🎣👍🏻
Nice John,great vids dude.
dom garrett - My pleasure Dom. Take it easy mate. 😉👍🏻
Just had a long day of work here in AZ, time to relax and enjoy some awesome fishing video! 🍷🎣🐟🦈
kirk1968 - Awesome is the other guy. We just love fishing. 😛 Have a great weekend mate.
Great night fishing vid. For half of it I thought you were going to blank. Then I said to myself David don't be silly this is the FISH LOCKER.
David Bainbridge - Haha. Blanks happen to everyone mate. Just not this time. 😉👍🏻🎣
not a bad little sesh there mate, nice one....went again last night and once again blanked!hurry up spring time!!!
dave oldman - Haha. I can second that. Hurry up longer days and warmer weather. 🥶
Hooked on your vids now wor kid. Gonna open the loft and get all my gear out. I've got lots of gear up there river and sea.
kevin hughes - Well what’s it doing up in the loft? You won’t catch anything with it up there?! 😛
Nice one John is always tricky this time of year. Thank you for all your hard work. Very helpful content.
iluvpugstoo - It is our pleasure mate. Yeah we’re coming up to the barren time of year.
Nice triple John!! Hannah, get the chips ready!! Supper is about to arrive!! Boy those straps do cause some foul ups!! Nice video mate, bit windy but nice to see a spot of night fishing. Take care. Graham 🎣🐟🐟🐟🍺
Graham Allen - Thanks Graham, yes those snotty straps cause some tangles. Got there in the end though. 😉🎣
Absolutely happy I found his channel about a month ago... I have successfully watched almost every video
Bryan - Wow. Really? That’s impressive. I think we have around 110 videos on this channel alone!! 😊👍🏻
Cant leave once the fish start feeding. You got a nice feed, I pretty much gave up on the shore fishing, to much wind and rain and now the shore fishing goes quiet here .
Trojs Fishing - We are getting to that barren time of year over here. As soon as the daffodils come up it goes quiet. Then as soon as the bluebells come out it’s gets better. Aye, you never leave feeding fish. 😉👍🏻
you are a true warrior haha!! way to go!!
Guillaume Avenel - Haha. I just love my fishing. 😊🎣
Great video as usual John 👍Just what I needed. Armchair angling at it's best! 😎
- Glad I could help Gary. :)
If you ever needed proof to have one last cast, then here it is. Then another last cast! Ha ha. Great video!
Lee Garner - Haha. I work on the best of 3 rule for most things. Last casts are no exception. 😉😛
Last cast salon lol food for table always a great result
👍 👍 👍 😜 🏴🦄🎣😁✌️
chopperhehehe - The first few “last casts” were just a practice run. 😉
Love to see you harvesting your catch, John.
I adore proper fresh, caught yourself, fish. Very rare I get to enjoy it, living in the poxy Midlands, but it is a treat I TRULY LOVE! ☺️
Not much is better than fresh caught fish. 😊👍🏻
Been watching your vids lately.. I'm no angler but I enjoy this very much, Thank you for the wonderful and informative content.
- It really is our pleasure. I simply hope that you are finding the information helpful. All the best and have a great day. ;)
One last cast, how many times does it happen, you catch a fish. Then it’s one last cast. I found your explanations of how the fish bite interesting. Your knowledge is amazing John.
I hope the video helps folks.
Greetings from the North coast of northern Ireland, love watching these
videos
George Huxley74 - The north east of anywhere is always the best. 😉 Glad you’re enjoying the videos mate.
@@TheFishLocker you're right there fella😊
This made me realize how much I miss fishing. I was privileged to take care of my more than difficult 95 year old dad for his last five years. Feeling I was more difficult than he when I was a kid.😊 He’s gone now; time to get out my rod and tackle box. Dad taught me all I needed to know about fishing; my favorite part is cleaning the fish. Good times. Miss daddy. Wonderful video.
- Thank you for sharing your story with us Janet. Best wishes to you and tight lines. 😊
Keep on fishing mate! Love watch your videos. Greetings from Poland!
Michał Koz - Thank you very much Michał, best wishes to you from Cornwall in the UK. 😊👍🏻
Thanks, I am enjoying watching your channel
Asaf Hagbi - It is our pleasure. We are simply sharing what we love doing. 😊👍🏻
Nice one John am really enjoying your shore fishing videos really looking forward to seeing more.
- Thanks Nigel, I like to mix it up a bit and have always been a bit of an allrounder. As soon as this wind dies off a bit I'll be back out on the shore. :D
Nice to see you out John, annoying those eels, I hate them. Still as you say you’re out the house.
Nice trio of whiting for you to enjoy. Thanks, regards to all m8
Stephen King - Cheers Stephen, yes mate, out of the house in the open air and fishing. Can’t complain at that. 😉🎣
Top man another superb session, thanks for sharing👍👍👍
- My pleasure Matt, just sharing what I love doing. :)
I'm new to your channel and I'm enjoying a lot watching your videos.
Keep up the good work man.
José A. Sánchez - Thank you José and welcome to our channel. All the best and tight lines. 😉👍🏻🎣
Your enthusiasm is infectious John.......regards to all...Bob(IOW)
Jan Bundell - Haha. Hopefully my enthusiasm is the only infectious thing about me 😛
I know you were a matelot John but no gory details mate. Take care ....Bob
Some nice Whiting there John, well done. Personally I think Whiting of that size make excellent eating , full of flavour 👍👍
Anthony Harrison - They were an ok size from the shore. Just big enough for a fillet. 😉🍽🐟
keep smashing them videos lad
andrew pilton - Cheers mate. I’ll do my best. 😉👍🏻🎣
Hello from Brunswick ga usa way down south found you channel 2 days ago and really enjoyed it all...I live by the beach here... your beaches and water are beautiful..

Love your. Vids
MA Knife and Rods - Thank you very much. 😊🎣
Great session John! Good to see you back on the shore. I love it when you start dancing - you were always good at the 'Conga' !! ;-) Some lovely Whiting there too. They will make a nice little feast! Fillet them off, dip in Mayo thinned with a little water, and coat them in Lemon & Black Pepper breadcrumbs from Morrisons! (Other supermarkets are available!)
- Shallow pan fried. :P
Just one more cast 😁😄😁😄😅your videos are fab John, keep me coming 👌
- Haha. Just 1 more last cast. ;) Thank you Joyce, have a great weekend. :)
I've started using the up and over rig after watching you videos, and caught my first cod on a squid and black lug wrap. Great channel, I've learnt a lot watching your channel. Cheers.
pikefisherman1978 - That is music to my ears. I bloody love a success story. Made up for you mate. Well done. 😊🎣👍🏻🐟
Lovely to see some decent whiting again they just about disappeared around the east coast along with good cod hope there making a comeback thanks for the great vids
- Some years seem to be better than others for them. I just know that all this trawling in the channel will not be doing things any good. :(
Nice one, enjoyed that, well done
ERIC BODLEY - Thank you Eric, tight lines mate.👍🏻🎣
Enjoy that fishin', my friend! Enjoyed the video.
Mark Skaggs - Thank you Mark, if I’m fishing I’m enjoying myself. 😊🎣👍🏻
Nice video again as always john. Those strap eels are a nightmare aren't they. Keep up the good work john love your videos.
Neil Smith - Thank you Neil. Glad you enjoyed it mate. 👍🏻🎣
Awesome mate definitely going to do more at the beach when the weather improve and I don’t to cold 🥶 let’s hope this year brings up a good fish! all the best
- Yes mate, fingers crossed for some great fishing this year. :)
Another quality vid John, thanks. Watching your catching soothes away some of the pain of my blanking last 3 attempts! Not a lot, as it's deep wounds as you know, but some haha! 😉 Thanks 👍
- Haha. So long as you learned something from those sessions then its not a total loss. :P
Yep, I've learnt that the locals are right. Shore fishing here is gash! That Shetland is called the rock for a reason and even 30lb line is nothing vs those rocky ledges & bottoms that are EVERYWHERE that's accessible enough for me! That I'm rubbish at handling a good fish and when they put up a fight and dive I either pop them off with too much pressure playing too hard and if I give them enough drag and play the slow game they'll find somewhere to bury and snap me off! 🤣😂🤣
Dawn H - Bugger. Well so long as you’re staying positive about it. 😬👍🏻
Awesome catches. Watching from Texas!!!!!!!!!!
Ty's Adventures - Thanks Ty, tight lines from Cornwall in the UK. 😊👍🏻
awesome fishing vid john
hoodie - Cheers bud. 😉👍🏻
That's awesome grate setting!!! Would love to come down there and give some of these fishing Mark's ago. And love the "last cast" hahaha grate stuff!!!! Tight lines mate. 🎣🎣🎣
L.R.S FISHING - If you ever get down this way send us a PM on the Fishlocker fb page. I’ll put you on some marks. 😉🎣👍🏻
@@TheFishLocker yer I'll defo take you up on that!!! Thanks mate!!
Now then John great fishing once again.Up here in south Cumbria whiting dabs and even pouting make good fish cakes.
Ray Gibson - I’ve never been a lover of dab. But I know folks who really enjoy baked pout.
good to see you out and about fella hope the wind did finally calm down them rock marks where ever you go are never comfy when trying to stay warm
dave Sheridan - The wind cancels more fishing sessions than anything else for us mate. So I’d love the wind to drop away for a good while.
I was locked up in jail when this was videoed and got out on the 7th of February. I was in there all by myself in a tiny concrete cell for 3 month’s and I’m so lucky I’m here on your channel watching my favorite thing in the world besides riding my motorcycle. Absolutely love your videos and will definitely continue to watch them. Good luck with everything Mate!
- Thank you very much, lets hope that is the last time you see the inside of a jail cell. Stay safe. ;)
Yeah I’m good now and learned my lesson for sure. Thank you
Geeeet up then!!
Nicely done John. There seems to be a good stamp of whiting arround this year....
the kid - Thanks mate. Those are just on the limit of what I would take. I had some monsters last year from not far from there. 😉🎣🍽
_I wish I could go to Cornwall one day......_ ☺️☺️☺️
Rachel TransGirl - It is a wonderful place. 😊
@@TheFishLocker Johny, youre the best 😘😘😘
Thanks for the vid. John, good one.
Mike Rom - My pleasure Mike. 🎣👍🏻
Hey fish locker I'm from Africa Kenya to be precise never gone fishing 🎣 ever but heck I enjoy your videos 📹 xoxo.
- Thank you and welcome to our channel. Best wishes from the UK. :)
grate video mate bin a way for a bit but back now keep up the good work up
- Good to have you back mate. Tight lines lad. :)
@@TheFishLocker it is good to be back got a lot to now I am back out thanks mate
Awesome video, subscribed 👍 going to take up coastal fishing this year, absolutely love the idea of fishing for food. I enjoy cooking, so the whole catch/kill/cook and eat sounds like a great way to go about things
- Welcome to the channel Dan and good luck. 😊
Just one more cast, honestly this is definitely the last cast 😂 I fished last night and had about 8 keepers (kept 3 whiting) good video mate 👍
KDT Fishing - Brilliant stuff mate. You fish local to me or local to you?
@@TheFishLocker A new spot in plymouth, cracking spot aswell
Great fishing John i wish we had that meny eels up here , well we maybe do and because im always putting big baits out and big hooks thats why im always missing them. Next time im gonna down size and fish a pully down the side of the wall see if i can pull a strap out
Earl's Fishing Adventures - If you’re fishing down the side of the wall you want a simple running ledger and a rotten bottom on your lead. Keep it super simple. 😉👍🏻🎣
Great session John, lovely sized whiting 👍🏻
- Aye it turned out ok didn't it. That "one last cast" did me proud. ;)
Nice one John, I really need to get back into shore fishing.!!I
Paul Strike Fishing - I just try and do what I can. Adapt to the conditions. I can’t wait to get back on the boat!!
The Fish Locker Yeah the boats my favourite, I’m working on it now, should be going back down first week of April ,I do a bit of spinning for bass off the shore but not botttom baits, I should get a couple of shore rods and do a bit.
Excellent fishing 🎣
- Thank you very much, tight lines. :)
well done john nice to see a mix of videos bud,
Thank you Keith. 😊
Whiting are delicious mate, wouldn't mind them that size from the shore where I come from & the bootlaces where cute if nothing else!!
Shore Fishing Essex - They are a good fish when you get them that size. We just get plagued with 6oz pests and bootlace eels. 👍🏻🎣
Another good outing john , not what you were after but well done 👍
Chris Wright - Thanks mate, as you said, not the target but happy to catch all the same.
Hi John those eels are a pain but the whitings were nice and you did say you wanted three, best wishes from Manchester.
fred dimble - Haha. Next time I’ll start by saying I want to catch a £50 note and see if that happens 😛 Them eels are a real nuisance at times.
Great vid! Thanks!
ek1414 - It is my pleasure. 😊🎣
Loving the content mate, you and your family inspire me to start up myself
- I am glad you're enjoying the content Dom, best of luck and stay safe. :)
@@TheFishLocker Cheers mate, hoping to get foraging on the north wales coastline once the storm has passed see what i can find then i'll probably begin my fishing journey on the river Mersey in Liverpool.
Dom Watson - I was reading somewhere that an old bomber aircraft has been uncovered on one of the welsh beaches by a storm!! Who knows what you might find? 😆
@@TheFishLocker Yeah mate you are right, i'm hoping to go and take a little look. Catch and cook in a downed bomber, surely get a million hits
Dom Watson - 😍 Id watch it!!!
I've only just started fishing so it's good to see someone actually catch a decent size fish
- Have a look though some of our videos from last year. ;)
Superb video as always John. I should be wetting a line myself for the first time since October soon.
- Oh my goodness!!! Since October!?!? How has this happened?
@@TheFishLocker I dont live anywhere near the sea and am always way too busy to do any freshwater fishing.
Hi a nice video and at least you caught. Those whiting are a lot bigger than most of the skinny things I catch on the south coast. I just wish I could get to the coast more but it’s a 2 hr drive to the nearest beach. Regards Bill
Easy Fishing - Thank you Bill. 2 hours does make it a little bit of an issue doesn’t it. Soon be summer 🤞🏻🎣
hello love your videos
tigershade1 - Hi there, thank you very much. All the best and have a great weekend. 😊
@@TheFishLocker thx u
Well it's pouring down outside,so this beats having to go out and brave the elements ! Nice size whiting too.As for those small eels they seem to be everywhere, lets just hope they grow fast !!
kevin buckler - I’ll gladly catch up with them when they’re all 30lb+!! 😆👍🏻🎣
Fingers crossed for that 🤞🎣
Great video John. Was wondering what type of winter you were having. In the central part of the United States, where I live, we have had a very mild winter, with less than 1" of snow. Out trout season is going great, and have enjoyed visiting the local streams with warmer weather. Thanks for getting out in the cold and sharing your adventure, your tackle, and your catch. Enjoy my favorite salt water fish . . . Whiting. My wife is from Spain and her mother used to fix me fried Merluza (Whiting) She used to cut the fish in about 1/2 inch thick "horse shoes." Only had the three prong back bone to worry about.
- Ah I see, she just cut them into steaks. Yeah I filleted them and shallow fried them. The winter here up until about 2 weeks ago had been very mild then we have had a couple of bitter cold snaps down to -6 degrees. But generally on a whole its been mild.
great vid john
Brian Harris - Cheers Brian. 😉🎣
Man I like your videos!!
- Thank you Jon. I am glad to hear it. :)
Great video mate!
Sol Brando - Thank you very much. Conditions weren’t the most favourable but I got there in the end. 😉👍🏻🎣
As usual I really enjoyed your vid John.
Whiting is a fish I've never tried , will have to get down to the fishmonger to give it a go. Perhaps Mrs. Fish Locker can do a vid on cooking it.
All the best Phil, Manchester.
- The next time we got some I will try and persuade her. We just had too much going on to do a video. :)
Great video👍
Toby Creed - Thanks Toby. 😊🎣
I really admire the way you know the tides and the way of wind, I would love to know, maybe a vid, on how you learned your craft as you seem to be a reel master (misspelling intended) :-) Great vid BTW
jackcameback - Thanks mate. That is think is too big a subject to put into one video. But I do try and put a bit of it into every one I do. So through all of the videos there will be almost every eventuality covered. 😉👍🏻
@@TheFishLocker Yeps, I am watching them all now, thank for taking the time to reply..!!!
Turned out to be a good session in the end, Well done John. Next session just go for an hour when it's getting dark...lol.
Tight lines
Udo Van Den Brock - Haha. Yeah I could have just come down for an hour at high water and would have still caught all the fish. 😆🎣
I fished new Brighton beach on the Wirral 2 nights ago 7 small whiting and 5 small flattys never seems to be anything big out of the Mersey but it's always nice to wet a line good video keep them coming mate
- I don't know mate, there have been a lot of reports of good fish coming out over the past few months.
The Fish Locker I have heard of good fish there was a 9.6 pound thorn back last week by all accounts but I mean for me personally never anything big I am a carp angler myself but do the Mersey with a friend every now and then
Know wat your saying , ish a lot of pegged matches ; Esk; tees ; weir . Ells are a nightmare 👍👍
Ba kum la Na Num see Na bongo...
Tadhg Hayden - 😆
dave turner - It’s been a long time since I fished a pegged match.
The Fish Locker measure , catch and release 👍👍👍
This channel is moving up the ranks as my favorite channel. Nice to see something positive. I. Trying to wean myself off the freak out videos I normally watch, too depressing seeing how people treat each other horribly.
- I cannot fathom sometimes why some people are so negative and unpleasant to each other all of the time. There is so much to be positive about. We are simply sharing what we love doing with people of similar passions. Long may it continue. :D
Thanks John. You got some good late reward for your efforts.
Thanks mate.
Nice video bro am from north yorks living in nz good to see ya catching
dave fieldhouse - Thanks Dave. There’s a couple of our friends down there atm. Last time I heard from them they were near Te Anua. 👍🏻😊
On a windy night the sound on the video was great.
darustedbus - It is a real struggle getting good audio on the rocks when it’s windy. I’m glad it came out ok. 😊👍🏻
Nice to meet you the other day the is king mackerel whiting and more down off Falmouth princess pier mate atm :) !!
John Mason - Good to meet you to. Thanks for the heads up but I’m stuck doing maintenance and getting the gear ready for the boat in the water now so won’t be out for a few days. 😉🎣👍🏻
Great vid nice fish
William Knight - Thank you William. It turned out ok in the end didn’t it. Glad I managed to get out and scratch the itch. 😉🎣🐟
One thing Ill always remember about bait fishing off the shore is those moray eels will sooner or later make a mess of things. The only good part is if theyre small eough, you can use them as bait. Fish on good man.
Desert Brewcrew - Fishing in the Med I caught a load of those brown an golden morays. They are frightful to look at aren’t they. 😫🎣🐟
Strap eel...."cheeky sod!" Haha.
william dodd - Haha. True though.
I have to admit, I am having issues with strap Conger too. A beach in Devon I fish, I keep getting strap Conger instead of the target Small Eyed.
nemesisslr - I am hearing it’s the same all over mate. Hopefully there’ll still be this many when they’re all 30lb. 😉🎣👍🏻
Don't use braid but,, nice reel. Good vid as ever. 👍Tight lines.
Jethro Tull - I use braid wherever I can now mate. The only place I don’t is generally in fresh water.
@@TheFishLocker Haha! I just cannot get on with Braid John - every 2nd cast results in a tangle. I've tried everything, different brands, different line levels on the spool etc. Given up - gone back to Mono with Fluorocarbon trace!
Trampster - Fair enough mate. If it works for you. 👍🏻 wind knots can be a result of an overfilled spool or slack line on the spool. I know you know this, more for anyone reading the comments. 😉🎣
What breaking strain braid do you have on your spin fishers? Have you used backing or just used a 300yard spool of braid with a shock leader?
- I have a full review of the spinfisher and how I fish it on The Fish Locker Workshop channel mate.😊
