Nice review!
Im a proud owner of the gx70. The amp still surprises me everyday. I got the amp hooked up with a pair of sonus faber sonetto 1’s. Fun and loving amp!
I bought it and it was awful. Veiled, no power no dynamics, had to turn it way past half way for normal listening levels and it sounded lifeless. I wanted to love it but it sounded like a two hundred dollar amp not a two thousand dollar amp.
Love hearing you review equipment Thomas! So much gping on with the GX70, i wouldn't even know where to start!
Thanks for a very interested review, should save up for boxing day sale.😄
Like your review, happy to see Cabasse speakers👍
I love your style of review Thomas. You give the positives and negatives and who might the product be for. Not a lot of reviewers give this info.
Love your review as always.🙏🙏🙏🙏…..
So many amps, so little rooms.
Why not?
Great review! It effortlessly provides enough information without repeating lengthy scripts. Awesome, Thomas!
Thanks Thomas I will always have a sweet spot for Techniques '
Back in 1999 I bought their 6 channel reciever the TA-SA50 - back then their wasn't no 5.1 !!
The subwoofer counted as a full channel of its own ' Miss those big Vu meters ' I paid $799.00 at Circuit City ' I remember it was the 1st time I had an amp with DSP It had Hall/Stereo/theater/ect ext and tone controls but dam it ran hot !
Funny when mentioning WAF
the sound room was shown full of equipment & treatments; the opposite of WAF.
Thanks for the review.
Maybe for your WAF
Thanks!
I really like this product and wondering if it would be a good match for Wharfdale Lintons? Is there any recommendation for other speakers with this amp for a 40square metre room?
Until all amps, preamps, speakers and recordings sound the same, tone controls will always be welcome and relevant
Might be interesting to match the TS-A75 to this as a pre…😮
If going for an integrated it would be the Cambridge audio EVO 150. But since I have no wife I am getting Mono Blocks!
How about exposure mono blocks ? I find they do not sound transistor like .. heard the Cambridge audio edge driving’s KEF LS50 meta .. they sounded very transparent with body in the mids.

I had the gx700 mark 2 the bigger brother for two years and I replaced it for the EVO 150 DeLorean Edition. The features only make it a far better amp and the sound at the same level but louder and fuller. I would agree with you, is small and does everything.
Technics have gotten so much attention for their turntables, I am surprised they continued to make amplifiers.
Hi, superb review! I am looking to upgrade my setup/change from a marantz sr5014 av reciever to a more stereo focused integrated amplifier. I am very interested in the GX-70 but have the opportunity to purchase a Gold Note IS1000 second hand (5 year old) for approximately the same ammount as a new GX-70 (gold note about $100 less). With your colleagues recent visit to Gold Note and experience woth theor prodicts. Would you say it is a better option to go for the gold note? It lacks hdmi which I would love but think I could live wothout it.
Thanks again for a great review.
Question is this or the Marantz M1 for half the price?
well i think it´s sad to see a network amplifier means people or youngsters don´t apreciate music enough to want to own it ,like having a radio in your room instread of a cheap system with all sources, but a plus for your quality review
this vs aiotavxsa40?
Sounds eerily similar to the feature set of the Lyngdorf TDAI 3400 but at a FRACTION of the price. Thomas, how do you think this will compares? Maybe it’s been too long since you’ve had the Lyngdorf to comment..?
vs aiotavx sa40?
Someone needs to make a world class …..all in one… CD player…. Like my Oppo 105…
Check out the Audiolab Omnia.....all-in-one CD Player / Amp / Streamer / DAC
Hi ☕️🔥
How long will Technics support the internet radio this time? I own a ST-C700 "network player" This thing wasn't a year old before this function stopt working. Bought my first Technics equipment in 1987. Always been a fan, but now, never again.
No Rose, Just Technics
I'd take the Emotiva BasX TA2 over this.
I got most of these specs in a $300 Onkyo home theater receiver, 10 years ago.
“Reviewers giving incredibly positive reviews” isn’t that what they all do anyway… 😂
If a product sounds bad, most reviewers simply don't publish the review.
NO, NO. NO..
Tesla is today way behind the EV competition in development, new ideas and also design
Every time there is a ? in the thumbnail/title, you know the answer is no…
Actually, we try to make the answer 'yes' quite frequently. It isn't really an interesting question if the answer is predetermined. See Final, Icon, SVS, BACCH, JBL, Gold Note, Audiovector and many more for 'yes' thumbnails. Still, we''ll work on crafting them to be more intriguing. Thanks.
Across the vast majority of RUclips, this statement is correct.
No HT Bypass - Sorry BIG PASS!
So we are told this video includes a paid promotion. Who paid for this video ?
The Chinese government
Did you not see the SVS ad in the middle of the video?
SVS speakers, ad mid way thru
The video is sponsored by SVS Sound. They have the ad space in the middle of the video, so it is no secret. Just like television, podcasts, radio, websites, Facebook, Instagram, newspapers, non-premium YT etc. The manufacturers who supply equipment temporarily for review do not pay us.
2k is the US price. How does it compare to the Cambridge 100 watts (about 699$) ?
Eat your broccoli, its good fo' you.
Paid promotion, it's an ad correct?
mass produced Japanese gear is by definition no better than mid-fi; the more stuff in the signal path, algos included, the greater the deviation from accuracy. Polite is boring. Musicality is everything.
Now that Thomas is a designer and manufacturer of audio products it's no longer appropriate for him to be reviewing what are in essence rival products.
and yet he was fair and balanced... so
imo he can still do it as long as he doesn't compare them to galion products, which he doesn't
To me the product isn’t anything close to his product, it is an all in one package as opposed to his amps that have no streamer. This is more of a lifestyle product than a hifi product to me. Great review
I agree. Unfortunately, he is very good at this. The other AS reviewers, not so much. Some are awful. I am trying to be polite here.
@@edgarortiz4681 that's true tho
Such a bad comparison. Tesla has the "most advanced" techniques, but implemented in a crappy and user-unfriendly and practically unsafe way. Phones today, even and especially "premium" ones, don't have many very practical and user-friendly features that used to be standard, such as headphone jacks and SD card slots.
