Hi everyone! Long time no see. Today's makeup is a shironuri makeup look based on how I feel anxiety affects me...oddly enough. Full deets down below!

For this look I just wanted to sit down and do something completely improvised. I didn't really have anything planned; I hadn't actually played around with makeup for 3 weeks prior to this, so I wanted to practice so to speak ^_^
So I based this off my previous shironuri look, but decided to go further with it by experimenting with new Sugarpill products, using new techniques, and adding something different to the look.
The different part of this shironuri look was drawing inspiration from anxiety. I tried to imagine how anxiety looked like in my head and doodled it onto my face. For most of my life I've dealt with an anxiety disorder, and art was one way I kept it somewhat under control growing up. Through experience I've learned to manage it better now, although it still gets to be pretty bad. Makeup is now my "art form," so I thought I would express myself so to speak.
Art and makeup isn't the only thing I use to control it...of course, there's a lot of stuff I do. But it's one coping mechanism I use. Another thing I use, which I mentioned in the video, is watching ASMR videos. I know some people think ASMR is weird but it really calms me down when I'm on the verge of a panic attack.
That was way too much information for a gat dang makeup look but there you go. I endeavor to express myself more as I continue to create more shironuri makeup looks :3

this took something ugly like anxiety and made it a little less ugly. i love that. also, this reminds me of watercolor paint mixing in water, and i love that too.

Interesting to see how anxiety looks to you, such a lovely outcome! I deal with it, too and... I don't know if it makes any sense but when anxiety gets me too much, the world turns gray for me. If I'd have any make-up skills, I'd probably show it with different gray and black shades. I've never seen anxiety as such a colorful thing, thank you for sharing this!
Sayren Nani that's interesting because that's how I view depression. Luckily haven't felt that in a long time.
Minsooky Oh I'm happy you didn't! I've been struggling with both lately but instead of doing make-up, I write and try to describe how those "monsters" look. Depression for example is like a fully black ghost like creature with blood red eyes and black veins running from left to right. I find it highly interesting to see or hear how others deal with such topics and how it looks like to them. Oh and may I add, you're very inspiring and your videos are very calming to watch. You're an amazing artist :)
Sayren Nani sorry to hear that! It's good to acknowledge it though. Trying to pretend it doesn't exist is never a good thing. Maybe sometime I should do my version of depression. In my head I just imagine it as a blurry gray version of a person. Interesting how it changes from person to person.

I love extreme makeup/face paint. For me, it's my way of life and expression of my being. It's something lived -- I love to wear it when I go out and it makes me very happy. I've loved it since I was 12 years old.
Is Shironuri a lifestyle? I just recently found out about this term. My flamboyant makeup is very Gothic based, I would say, and includes the whiteface, and generally red makeup that goes all the way down my cheeks, or else very thick black makeup that forms points that go down my nose and across my temples, and black lipstick.
What is Shironuri about? I love it, but the Japanese lifestyles are new to me and I wonder if there's any specific meaning behind Shironuri. I mean, clearly you can create your own makeup with it's own personal meaning, but is that the original point of it? It's awesome.
