The contrast between Abel and Brooks is interesting. They look to be of a similar age, both minority males, both with bald heads, tattoos and criminal records, but Abel seems to have turned his life around from what was evidently a rocky start.
He has a career, hes married with a child, hes clearly involved enough to take his daughter to a Christmas parade, and hes actively trying to be a good member of the community by assisting police when he sees the SUV.
Brooks has an Anti-Social Personality Disorder, the other guy hasn't. I've been in both lanes of traffic with work if you catch my drift. I can tell you for a fact that I have worked with more Psychopaths and Sociopaths in offices / the corporate world than in organised crime.

The witness that stated she was injured not physically was the first person to testify they were mentally injured. She was very brave to get up there and say that.
I think she was an off duty police officer.
I do remember a couple witnesses stating that therapy was needed for their kids etc which I'm so happy to hear because he's so focused on the physical.

The victims and there families my prayers are with them. The poor mothers who’s 4 children were hurt made me cry listening to her. Memories that will be with her for the rest of her life. A lot of families dealing with PTSD. And this animal has no remorse.

The prosecution didn’t have to put on a case because Brooks made the case for them. Each of his questions reinforced that he was the driver, he drove the car fast, that he hit people, what he was wearing. 🤦♀️

When he refused to sit down as the State was examining the witness, he needed to be put out of the courtroom. He's very fortunate this was a state of the art courthouse with the latest technology. I would've enjoyed seeing him bound and gagged. This is one defendant who deserves that.

I think when she supplied them with that ring bell of her house also she called the police that night of the parade and told them that Brooks had taken her SUV without her permission and she thinks it was the one driven in the parade that would be my guess otherwise she would have to show up

The defense attorney is doing a masterful job of making sure the artist formally known as Darrell Brooks gets LIFE.
The cross examination of Kathleen Yourell ( 1:24:08 ) was, for me, the most powerful moment of this trial. I was literally bawling while listening to this and watching her as she had to recall the horrors of that day. My heart goes out to this woman and her kids. To add to the horror, during the masterful cross-examination by the prosecution, the piece of cr@p formerly known as Darrell Brooks continued on with his baseless objections. Shame on him…at least he had the common sense not to redirect.

I’ve watched a lot of trials in my life. Kathleen Yourell was the best testimony and cross I’ve ever seen. Brooks came undone at that point and his dumbfounded amazement and frustration could not be contained as the afternoon progressed. Whew. Good thing it’s Friday.
So, Brooks *knew* her children were hit & severely injured when he put her on his witness list. It was a huge mistake for him to call her. Last nail in his coffin. He's looking at police reports and only calling witnesses who stated that they heard a horn honking. That's it. That's his criteria. He calls them to testify to abuse them. Evil. And stupid. Those statements about horns honking will do him no good.
It was glorious. I can’t admire her enough. All that and she wasn’t rattled by that animal in the least.

As Judge Dorow put it in her closing remarks: "some people choose a path of evil.....and I think Mr. Brooks you are one of those such persons."
He’s such a clown!! He literally needs to be baby stepped through the conviction list and can’t seem to understand that only crimes can be declared. He takes 15 mins to come to the same number that the judge and prosecutors came to. Exactly! When he said his mother will be there if he tells her to, it was classic domestic abuser talk. He is an abuser of women, including the judge. I do think this judge is handing Brooks' abuse better than a male judge would have, in regards to avoiding grounds for a mistrial. I'm still nervous though. The disruption is the only thing Brooks is good at doing. Calculated behavior...that he believes helps him. He's delusional.
I'm afraid she might get caught up in some truthfulness issues, because she's most likely just telling him what he wants to hear when he calls her, and she's not under oath when talking with him. I liked that the State said it's not necessary to subpoena her, that Brooks can just call her himself because he is able to contact her without assistance. If she does testify, I hope the State will shut down Brooks' awful questions, and not let him rake his own Mother over the coals.

@@aprilpacini4897 They may, but they were clear about not wanting to vilify DB's Ex in this, and I think they'll only take it as far as they have to. His Mother probably doesn't actually have much that will help the State's case, and DB is the one who lied about the source of the photos he wanted to use against Erika P. As long as she tells the truth about whether and when she talked with Investigators, what gets said should be very limited.
Notice after the testimony of Mrs Yurell whose 4 children were injured he didn't fake tears, did not recross, did not "need a minute" due to being "pretty emotional right now". He was angry and realizing he had made a horrendous mistake in calling this woman to the stand. He carried his anger into his examination of Ms Babiasz...where he badgered her until he lost his mind big time. His lawyer stinks.
Wish the "court", or Court TV did a split camera view showing DB at all times in addition to witnesses. The "mean-mugging DB was telling of his character!

I often wonder how DB might behave with a male judge. He clearly has no respect (and much contempt) for women.
I don’t think it would matter he has no respect for anyone! A male judge however may not have as much patience as this judge is showing. She has an abundance of patience.
I believe a male judge would allow alot less of his shenanigans... whether the monster liked it or not, he would proceed and not be sucked into his b.s. the trial would probably be finished if this judge were not so easily tricked into a never ending stream of "last" warnings and chances.
I'm thrilled he's acting this way it only goes to show the jury that he has no self-control and that this was because he was mad at his girlfriend, she left with her friends and he had no more control. Why he called some of these witnesses to further torture them is not going to work for him. He's a disgrace and that crying in his opening was I know I'm going away for a long time and I'm sad about it. I get the same sense. I think he would disrespect anyone but it seems that he has special hatred for women, especially in positions of authority.
Having said that, although I can appreciate that the judge is trying to be respectful and patient, enough is enough, she can't keep saying that he will be thrown out of the courtroom and then not do it. And that has nothing to do with her being a woman, i guess it's just her personality. I work with a lot of judges both male and female.
