    I bet those step-drills are bomb on sheet metal, but the spiral flute looks like it makes them way too aggressive for wood working. The sanding gear looks excellent! I used to deploy my multi-tool all the time on all sorts of projects, but in the last few years I just haven't found much use for it. I'm sure it'll make a reappearance the next time I'm "blessed" with a home repair or improvement, and it could definitely do with some new blades.

    I would get behind TOOLANT's sandpaper. I've never seen high quality paper like that where clogging is not an issue. I've used the P series from 3M and while great stuff it is expensive. It also clogs badly (especially level sanding paint and clear). The fluting of the step bits is too aggressive in my book for tuning machine holes and even Tune-O-Matic setups. Other projects they probably do well at. For my money, I'd just use the Harbor Freight step bits. That cutting blade is quick, but not for shaping a headstock. Jigsaws are the way to go with a skip tooth blade for a cleaner cut (which I'm sure you know) There's a right tool for every job.

    That multi cutting blade makes me think this is perfect for cutting out a headstock the Dan Thompson way.

    Have you considered using forstener bits for your peg holes? I use basically the same process - use a small drill bit for a pilot hole, then use the forstener bit to drill ~halfway through from the front, flip it over and finish up from the back. Produces nice smooth holes, no blowout, and always the right diameter.
    I'm gonna get some of that sandpaper!

    I already had some of that toolant sandpaper in my cart before watching your video. Perhaps I’ll come back later and add a comment when I have had a chance to use the sandpaper also. I agree it looks cool.

    You can get a rubber bar at Harbor Freight to clean sand paper.

    Good morning, Dan! Coffee is on, my chunk of ash wood is ready for planing and my building my own electric bass project will begin today. I will be posting a video on my chennel and will send you a link once I get rolling on it. I look forward to learning about these tools. Be blessed!

    PS, "clogged snadpaper" - there is a gummy stick of something that is held against a belt sander while it is running to clean the belt of particles. Perhaps that would work for your fret leveling beam sandpaper?

    Hey! Do you still have that gen 1 sightmark Ghosthunter night vision monocular that you made a video on a couple of years ago? They've been discontinued for years and there's nothing else like it on the market. If you do still have em, would you be willing to sell them somehow?

    The new bit is OVERAGGRESSIVE. should be doing it in a drill press where you can clamp the headstock down. Be all better then...

      @GunsandGuitars  Год назад

      Good idea! Although I’ve never needed to used a drill press before for this job…
