As for the humor in the Hellboy comics do have some humor, but it's not the main focus. The humor is more subtle and often used to lighten up some of the darker moments in the stories. It adds a nice touch of levity without taking away from the overall serious and mysterious tone of the comics.

In the Hellboy comics, they definitely lean more towards a mature, rated R vibe rather than a PG-13 one. The stories explore darker themes and have a grittier tone, which adds depth and complexity to the character and the world he inhabits. It's like a deep dive into the
supernatural and mysterious side of storytelling. Hellboy comics have a mix of dark and gritty tones with elements of mystery, folklore, and supernatural themes. The tone can be described as a blend of action, adventure, and a touch of horror, creating a unique and engaging atmosphere for the readers. It's this combination that adds depth to the storytelling and makes the Hellboy comics stand out in the comic book world.

The profanity in the 2019 Hellboy felt forced, but the movie in general was closer to the actual comics than del Toro's vision.
I wish people would move on from the del Toro / Ron Pearlman mindset. Many fans of the comic didn't love their take, either.
I like the fact that Crooked Man is seemingly focused on a singular story straight from the comics.
