    The 2024 woodland was my first new car. Bought it last week. I drove nothing but 30 year old hand me downs my entire life (I’m 35). When I hear people complain about heated seats and cloth and noise from the tires etc. or call it “bare bones”… I can’t help but laugh. My new car might as well be an alien space ship.

Is it finally time for this powertrain to be introduced to the RAV4 lineup?🤔 That drivetrain combined with a suspension upgrade would bring the Woodland's tow rating up to par with other outdoorsy RAV4s without a cost in fuel efficiency. Toyota's decision to go from 17 to 18 inch rims on the Woodland is inexplicable 🤨

    Thanks for your review. I always enjoy your POV driving impressions. It’s a bit unclear what a “TRD tuned suspension” is in the Woodland. The marketing is a bit vague and ambiguous. It’s definitely NOT the same coils, bump stops and damper/shocks in the TRD off-road model. Otherwise as you pointed out it would have the same 8.6” ground clearance as the TRD off-road model. Did you actually peek inside the wheel wells to check to see if there are any “TRD” labeled equipment? It seems the woodland has the same coils, bump stop, and damper/shocks as the LE/XLE hybrid and maybe slightly adjusted a little bit to give a firmer ride.

    My dad has told me owning a hybrid car in a cold climate (NE US) is a bad choice because the hybrid battery life is shortened to cold exposure. Moreover the battery replacement cost negates the MPG savings. How true is this?

    • @johnmartin7158
      @johnmartin7158 Год назад +2

      Perhaps your dad is a genius. Anyway it’s not just the fuel efficiency, it’s the weight and more power it offers. As in the driving experience. A lot more horse power and in some cases better handling.
      Many manufactures have a guarantee on their. batteries for 5-10 years or 150 000miles and above. I’m sure in another 5 years time servicing the cells will make things a lot cheaper and battery costs will come down.

    I am on my 9th Toyota, so I am obviously a fan, but I do not understand Toyota's point with this car. I am perplexed as to why they didn't drop a hybrid in the TRD Offroad -- better ground clearance, already has the suspension and all-terrain tires, nicer available options/upgrades on the interior, heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats. Instead, they give us this thing--I get it, they are trying to keep with the Wilderness line of cars from Subaru, perhaps the Bronco Sport, etc., that are soft roaders becoming a bit more rugged. It looks good from the outside but there's not not enough here in my opinion to justify considering this car. Like you said, just get a RAV4 hybrid that gives you nicer features, lift it an inch or two, throw some all terrain tires on it, and you've got a decent little soft roader that is not so bare bones.

    • @luke_mckay
      @luke_mckay 6 месяцев назад

      Right? Though, if you were to get the same specs, you're paying $2500 more for the "softer" suspension, and the all terrain tires. And themed floormats, I guess.
      I think the base trim hybrid and woodland trims have the same ground clearance. Which I think is bonkers considering the market they were going for with this. At least make it a half inch taller, geez.

    Another overpriced appearance package!
    Ride quality is definitely the hidden flaw of the Rav4, and has been for a while. I've got a 2016 XLE, and it's pleasant on a back road, but around town almost any random bump can really rattle the thing around.

    • @ws6transam
      @ws6transam Год назад +1

      It’s around 1k more compared to an XLE so I wouldn’t say overpriced at all since you get the tires, wheels, tuned suspension, and the weather custom floor mats.

    This trim doesn’t make sense. You give up about 4mpgs for no reason really. The non hybrid RAV4 averages 32mpg. Not sure it’s worth getting this for an extra 4mpg for about $5000 more???.

    • @luisserna7695
      @luisserna7695 4 месяца назад

      I owned a non hybrid… 32 mpg mix driving city/hwy is what I was averaging!
      I own the woodland hybrid now. 1000 miles in now and I’m averaging 42 mpg

    So, this is a base base LE trim, but with some mediocre offroad cosmetics, lol? Not worth the extra cost.. The nicest trim RAV is the Limited, but even those aren't worth the price.

      @@DizzyMan24 And yet the RAV4 is a very successful Vehicle commercially. Big waiting lists for RAV4 Hybrids. And in the 2nd hand market they can be more expensive than a new one. The RAV4 Hybrid is 1 000 000 % better than the Rogue. We pubic agree as sales are fantastic.
