    The girls' lives were difficult, but their mother had to give up all her dreams, but, at least as consolation, she saw them come true through her daughter, everything she wanted, dreamed, hoped for, her daughter received and she was a very strong woman and a very attentive mother.

    I have never seen this movie before! How incredible! I didn’t know Sophia made a movie about her own mother. Sophia always played archetypal mothers on screen so it makes sense that she thought about the influence of her own mother on her life. Sophia would’ve been 46 when she made this movie. I imagine much older than what her mother would’ve really been when she gave birth to Sophia. In any event, it’s a well-produced and directed biopic, and how amazing and what a beautiful thing to do in memory of her family and origin story. I love Sophia. She is an amazing person who always seemed to me to have a great heart and soul and was always a really mesmerising actress and personality.

    Maybe she had miscarried so many times due to nutritional deficiency. A lot of actresses have to literally starve themselves for their figure. Not her fault at all, it’s what the industry demands. Great movie ❤

      Umm she never dieted in her life and she did everything to have a baby she would never do that nonsense it's not the Italian way.

    • @shivani41
      @shivani41 23 дня назад

      @@chetyoubetya8565 Also, Sophia and her sister, mother (and so many more people) lived through World War II with terrible hunger and thirst, and this deprivation affected Sophia's and her sister's health during their childhoods. Her sister even survived typhoid fever. Sophia described hunger as a driving force of her life in one of her marvelous cookbooks. These stark conditions during many of her growing years might have had a big impact on her ability to give birth. But Sophia, bless her, finally had two sons, using strict bedrest as the only means to carry herself and her babies through to term. She never starved herself. Instead she was genuinely starved.

      @lapislazuli7876 Месяц назад +14

      It’s not strange at all. Don’t be ridiculous. It’s perfectly natural because she would’ve looked like her and understood her and it’s a really beautiful homage to her own mother. Why not?

      @@lapislazuli7876 Maybe if she'd done the movie just as her mother that would've been great. But having Sophia play Sophia was ridiculous and odd especially that scene with Gavin as Grant.

      Not really as Sophia looks very much like her mother and it worked to have younger actress to play her in her early years.
