Cambodians don't eat these day in day out. They eat normal rice, fish and meat. This is exotic food mostly for tourists.
Khmer dont really eat this. I have never seen them eat this actually, i lived in a home with all Khmer and i was the only black guy for 8 years. The main thing that was different and i didn't have the taste for it was Pleah. Everything else is very good like nom bahn chok and Cha kreung omg delicious no bugs

The oil color is from the cricket they adding sauce u don’t expect them to change oil in every 5 minutes right ?
I ate all these bugs to survive during genocide back 1975 to 1979. My favorite one would be tarantulas. Spider looks terrifying but it tastes like soft crab. My worst one would be water bugs as it tastes bitter with crunchy and earthy. They need to change the new oil more often. I'm glad to see people are still eating them today. I usually tried to eat fried spiders when I visited the Kingdom. Don't let the bugs bug you, just eat the bugs. Happy Khmer snacks from abroad!

The only one I've tried before is fried crickets in Hanoi and I must say, the fried crickets are juicy, crunchy and delicious.

I have so many questions. Those big brown oblong ones seem to be big sellers, are those water bugs? What do they taste like? We’re those whole fried baby birds? Only thing I recognized were the shrimp and crickets

@faizan7014: what's there to be thankful for? producing exactly that (our) type of food has brought this planet to the shitty state it's currently in. compared with the food coming from mammals, insects require so much less resources to be spent for the same amount of proteins. maybe THIS should be the future food for the whole world - if we want to save it and survive as a species on it. after all, it's all in your head - and humans can accommodate to ANYTHING - proven delicious enough (delicious by its taste, not the looks ;-)).
