I’ve been excited for this one because Queen II is my favorite in their catalog. I just feel that it was them being truly progressive and artistic. The Black side of the album is like a mini-rock
Opera with how it all cross fades together. March of the black queen is surely a prototype for what would become bohemian rhapsody. Awesome review!

My favourite Queen album… the most complete album they made… bought it on vinyl in 1975 or 76 just before seeing them live for the first time in ‘76 at age 15… love the white side, then the black side takes it to the next level… loud, playful, complex, mystical, bombastic!
My fave tracks are Ogre Battle, White Queen, Nevermore and of course, March of the Black Queen!!! Just wow!
Still have the vinyl and its best listened to with over-ear headphones 😁
Thanks for your review, and I’m so happy to hear young people discovering early, adventurous Queen 👍🏼🎶😃

Queen II is such a fantastic album! So many fantastic deep cuts. I'm sad that these amazing songs didn't get as much exposure, but at the same time, I *love* that my favorite band has a *relatively* hidden gem of an album.
My personal favorite song is The March of the Black Queen - it's like a proto Bohemian Rhapsody!

I agree! Queen II is very much a hidden gem in Queen's discography! You honestly can't go wrong with any early Queen album, the first few Queen albums seem to not get as much love and attention. I also agree with you about The March of The Black Queen! Awesome song!

I’ve watched this video, Queen 1 and News of the World reviews. I don’t know if you are still doing these reviews in later Queen, but I would love to see them.

I was making some research for my podcast in Portuguese about Queen II and I found your channel! Great review! This is my favorite Queen album and funny thing is that Fairy Fellers Master Stroke is also my favorite Queen song of all time! :)

Just ordered twelve of the fifteen albums of Queen, it is a bloody shame I started liking this band now, and not in the days when they were still around. I really enjoyed your video and couldn't stop my finger pushing the subscribe button. Your channel is totally awesome!! Oh and your hair is so freaking beautiful ❤️

Yasss! Queen II! Their proggy goodness! This album as a whole is quite underrrated! I didn't know there were talks about a part 1 and 2 of Seven Seas! That would've been very interesting to see if that were to have happened. I love these reviews! Keep on rockin' em!

    • @marichensmusic
      @marichensmusic  3 года назад

YES!! This album is super underrated! I think that it would be interesting to hear the albums with Seven Seas of Rhye in the beginning, but like its such a gem already!

    Aloha Marichen
I really enjoyed your review on Queen II. I recall listening to this recording in my friends car on an
8 track tape in 1974 blasting as he drove around the island. It's been years since I listened to this album, hopefully I still have my copy in storage under the house, if not I gotta get one, your review got me pumped up to listening to it again.
Looking forward to your next Video. Thanks again
    Mahalo ed.

Bravo, Loved the review. This is my favorite Queen album. It’s a masterpiece in songwriting as well as production. All the songs flow so well and work well together and you can definitely see the progress rock sound that was so popular in those days coming thru. It’s interesting that you mentioned how the band was thinking of putting Seven Seas Of Rhye as the opener to make it seem like the continuation of Queen 1 which ended with the instrumental version. Reason why is because if you hear the end of Seven Seas Of Rhye on Queen 2, you’ll hear them sing an old sailor song called I Do Like To Live Beside The Seaside, and on their next album Sheer Heart Attack on the intro of the very first track Brighton Rock, you’ll hear someone whistling the same tune right as the guitars start to come in which i always found really cool. Anyways awesome review and keep em coming. Rock on 🤘

Thank you! I did end up mentioning that in my review of Sheer Heart Attack! You can't beat Queen's musical intelligence! They were so clever!

Late to the party - but check out the art and life of Richard Dadd who painted the Fairy Fellers Master Stroke. Freddie was inspied by the painting to write the song. It adds levels that you might not have seen/heard.

Very interesting point of view. This was an album that was an absolute favorite when I was in high school. I've played the the Black Side a million times. I've played the White Side about twice. I do like Father to Son but that's about it. My daughter's favorite song when she was about 5 was March of the Black Queen. It's a classic album and probably my favorite Queen album - just for the Black Side.

Thank you! I can understand why this may not be everyone's cup of tea. I do agree that side black is my favorite of the two! But I love the album as a whole as well. But hey music hits differently for everyone :)

I love each Queen album in its own special way. I grew up listening to Queen, much after their albums released though. I do agree that White Queen and Nevermore are the best on the album, I love both songs. I love this album entirely.

Ya know what, forget "The Queen of Country" You're "The Queen of Queen" and these album reviews are a testament to that! Wow!! Queen II is towards the top of my list hands down! IT NEEDS MORE HYPE!!! The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke gives me lead foot. It automatically makes me drive 10 times faster! Haha!!
