I hope this clown takes better care of your restoration than he did of his original purchase. I have a '79 LTD 1000 that I bought new and it still looks new!

I had to stop watching ,wife had me bring recycling out to the garage. Had to look at my 81 KZ750 LTD . Still glad I have not sold it. Got it new in 81 ,at 18 ,It would be like selling almost the last of my teen years It’s a keeper for life !
Holy Shite, in 1980 my father owned North Valley Kawasaki in Denver, CO, I had this EXACT bike in 1980, same color, Kerker 4 into 1, K&N air filters, the two-tier saddle seat, dual front disc, rear disc, one of the sweetest bikes i ever had! Nothing sounded like it, and the power was awesome. At one point, we had put so many Kerker pipes on that engine, my garage at home must have had 200 stock-single pipes just hanging around. They would have been worth a fortune today!
Johnny sir, please wear a helmet when testing your bikes; accidents do happen, especially when we are not sure of the temperament of the overhauled bike. You are doing an amazing job; love watching your labour of love. You have a great great team.
Love the way you name the bikes. My KZ550ltd's name is Pancho

I had bought a brand new 1980 LTD 1000 off the floor ,paid $3295.00 out the door. this bike here look's just like the one I had except for I had bought the high rise sissy bar with an Gold Eagle in the center it was Beautiful , really mss that bike.
Those WERE new tires😂😂😂 . He should have gotten 2 of each. 1 for the drveway and one for when he gives it to you, with no flat spots. NOW it is a beautiful bike. THAT IS WHAT A MOTORCYCLE SHOULD LOOK LIKE.
At first LTD looks rough. The end product is beautiful. Sadly I am giving up on my 1982 Kawasaki KZ 1000 LTD. Could not find a way to get it to you, and my health declines now. Please take care, and I will continue to enjoy your videos!
This is my bike I bought it new from Honda???? But anyway now here it is.... trashed.. what a great story, makes you feel like you were there every step of the way...
Carbs are 29 MM, i had them on my Z-1, made some improvement Hey Johnny, did you ever hear of BROWNS plating in Kentucky? They were the place to send for chroming back in the 70's and 80's, they did AMAZING WORK
I have those same carburetors on my 78 KZ 1000 the stock carburetors are 26 mm and the ones on that bike I believe or 29 mm Mikuni‘s smoothbore’s...along with the 4 into 1 Kirker header work great, awesome job on the bike looks incredible you guys do a nice work.
The numerous video updates, all the time, care and attention to all & every detail on every bike rebuild/restore is so impressive and the results are so fantastic. Every one of them is a masterpiece of the arts & trades.
I'd vapor blast everything and powder coat anything thats possible. I wouldn't replace any of the engine covers. Vapor blasting will make everything look brand new. Nice work.
I bought the last 80 in the showroom, paid 3000$$ for it .identical to this w/chrome kerker & engine side casing, carb tops & bottoms but my fins were black.loved it .got stolen ,couldn't find another so got a 1100 Honda ss.nice bike too but miss my LTD.
Beautiful! First time I've seen issues with any gears, unlike on the Hondas. But as you said, this thing was probably abused in racing or dragging. IMO, the black and straw colorization on the headers is a feature, not a bug.
Wow I have a 1980 ltd. I only wish I could afford to have it done like this! I love my bike but it hasn't ran in over 15 years! I really neglected my bike. I has been inside the last 8 years or so. Maybe one day I will be fortunate to have it restored!
@@Johnnysvintage I have 3 kz, 1 is a 79 Ltd gas a new motor and its a total basket case! I have my 80 Ltd 1000 its a complete and in beautiful condition with exception of a custom repair that was done 25 years ago! I have a 1975 Z1 spoke wheel bike all free just been neglected for many many years!
"the second gear was damaged..I think its been run hard at some stage''-I think the over-bore+nitrous gave that away!!..beautiful resto-amazing attention to detail.--I don't mind the goldy-blue discoloration on headers-I like the look and at least it shows the bike is being used and is not a show pony. Great job.
Hi Johnny, happy holidays, another great Kawasaki video, timelapse was a bonus edition, alot of work to restore a motorbike properly. Keep them comming, I saw you had a SR650 in background, good bike.
I wish I still had all the old kz's I have owned. Sold my last one about 8 years ago. Now I can't afford to buy another. Lol Total rebuild in my dining room. Lol
Lovely...and that sound is soooo nice. Personally, not such a fan of the LTD small fat rear wheel and seat but it looks damn fine and what a bike. As usual your resto and explanation is sooo good. I watch and listen to your vids when I have to settle down, clean up, and get my head straight. Love it. Keep 'em coming.
Manfred009 was it a 81 or 82 . I still have my 81 kz750 LTD 23,000 miles on it. The carbs are plugged up and need work . I still cannot sell it . Got it when I was 18 , I and going to replace the carbs in order to ride it again.
I guess that’s one way to break in some new tires and brakes lol where is the other mirror? But holy smokes I don’t think that bike looked that clean or that good when it rolled off the factory or showroom floor!!
I have that same bike right now, how do I get this restoration done? I have had it since 1990, it was turned into a street/drag bike. I want it back to stock. That restoration is awesome!
That's good I'm glad you did. I used to race and ride a lot of kz's back in the old days and several of my bikes that I had , had the high-speed death wobble it was really scary. Sometimes it was from other things sometimes it was from the bushings. I think they wear out around 20 or 30,000 miles something like that. You could accelerate through it and it would go away but as soon as you slide back down to the same speed that it started you would have to ride it out as you slow down. Scary stuff
@@CB.5 I can tell that you never rode one of those at triple-digit speeds or else you would know what I was talking about. They weren't all about handling back in them days
Absolutely love this video beautiful work I'm bubbling over I just called to leave my number my number hopefully I can get some work done I got a little bit of change saved up see what it's gonna cost me but I'm excited 83 LTD 1000
I bought this same bike in '80, wish I still had today...

My Dad gave me an old KZ 1000 . Fast big bulletproof bike ... Started a motorcycle fascination with me that’s never ceased . Thanks Dad
Wow, I love building bikes, but this is another level. So much inspiration and thank you for sharing.
The proportions were perfect they still look good to this day. Timeless.

Excuse me? Did I hear you right? "I think this is clean." Is that what you said? As far as I'm concerned it's IMMACULATE! Wow!
She's a beauty! Love that Kerker pipe!
It's been many years since I had my KZ900, but I can still hear the engine howling in my head... lol
The only thing correct that the Owner did was to bring that bike to you. He brought it to the Right Place.
Beautiful craftsmanship. 👍🏻
Man I love seeing the resurrection of these bikes.
Awesome Johnny. Absolutely stunning. Watching Helo's head work amazing. Hope this bike make your front page with a couple of calendar girls.

The engine works like a clock. great stuff.
I bought 1 just like it in 1980.put a lot of$$ into it & it got stolen I never recovered fully.40 yrs later I still love that bike.
Was never a fan of the LTD until the Eliminator came out.
Absolutely beautiful. Personally I think the coloring on the headers due to heat looks cool.
Looks HOTTTTT, nice paint job, i think a nice gold RK gold chain would have been a better choice but yeah its nice

That pulls hard for a 40 year old bike!
Nice job! It was a Police bike in the eighties. It was worth restoring.

Beautiful bike and I almost went with its big brother the KZ1100 LTD but choose the KZ1300 instead back in the day.

Thanks for sharing. Very nice, as always!
The 1000 just never had the patina of the 9s
I had a 1974 Kawasaki Z-1, and a 1980 KZ-1000 that looked identical to this motorcycle.
I want one now!
pops..u handle that bike pretty good !!!!!.......just kidding....luv ur vidz & work...old kawys rule . !!!
My markers turned blue & good at the top but didn't bother me.a trip down memory lane .

Amazing
Great video, beautiful bike, top beard!
I had one of those back in the day
How do you get those wheels to look that good? Never had any luck polishing the aluminum shiny parts to that degree of shine.
Beautiful job
Man you do awesome work buddy...
Nicely job.
I wonder how many $$$$ you have to charge, its very nice.

Interesting video as always. Beautifulrestoration. Is the engine just vapor blasted ? No coating afterwards?
yes vapor blasting. Polished aluminum covers
It looks awesome except for one thing did y'all check the swing arm bushings to make sure they were still in good shape?
yes we did
