I just got back from Egypt and the Valley of the Kings and it was one of the highlights of the trip. The tomb of Seti I was open and it has been closed to the public, for many years. There was an extra fee required for Seti's tomb, which was 1,000 egp, or about $ 63-$ 64. I would have paid three times that, to go into that tomb. It was extraordinary. There were only three people, besides myself and the guardian, in the tomb. It is the best preserved tomb in the Valley. I actually cried, after I came out.
You are right, we need some organisation in tourism here in Egypt, we have a treasure but we use it so badly
been a sad truth for a long time
M E you also have no manners too.
@@BusinessEnglish607 we are like any other country we have the both good and bad people but I think you saw the bad but you have no idea how the good people are in Egypt🙂
M E this is what I think of you Egyptian 🤮 plus you guys are Arabs from Arabia not the Indigenous people of Egypt.
@@BusinessEnglish607 and I am proud of being Egyptian Arabian, you don't know the real Egyptians, you know how many nations that Egypt hosted in its history till now while their countries fell down although we our economy was suffering? You know how the charitable donation in Egypt? You looks at what you want to look because of your hateres towards us
Seriously...your in egypt...Disney world costs more than what your spending there and its Ancient History.
Hope to see you here soon welcome in our country
America is filled with GREEDY scum bag business's... sure you have "freedom", but you have to pay for it
Exactly
Seriously. $130 is hardly expensive for what you’re getting.
It’s a shame that the hassling/begging, whatever it’s called, ruins what should be an amazing experience.
True much like some child beggars here in the Philippines :((
Yeah I agree with you, and you know why , because some people are not well educated in Egypt thinks that foreigns will fall to their prunks and they thinks that they can deceive them
Don't go to Chichen Itza! The whole place has been ruined by vendors who hassle you every step you make.
Cosmo Joe I agree, but have you been to Chichen Itza? If you do you’ll understand what I mean.
its a shame the tourist couldnt follow the rules and not take photos in the tombs. Its against the law. The guards will happily turn a blind eye for a couple bucks
The end you described is exactly one of the reasons why the tourism is so slow in Egypt.
I've experienced the same too. It's kind of frustrating. I work hard soaking in sweat to get those money and come to see the wonders. But people thinks we are rich as printing money.
Printhaasiny Krishnan they taught you are a walking ATM 😜poor thing
King Tut’s tomb did not get the attention it did because he was special compared to other pharaohs. His tomb is mostly famous because it was found untouched.
Edit: added clarity to the sentence structure.
you are wrong ... The contents of the tomb included more than 5,000 pieces, most of them pure gold
@@mustafaezzat5605 Right. What I’m saying is all tombs had that value at a minimum.
@@TOSUnboundI mean that the king's tomb is special because it is untouched and also because it is full of treasures
@@mustafaezzat5605 Correct. I wasn’t arguing that. I was mentioning how King Tut’s tomb receives as much attention as it does because it’s one of the only if not the only tomb discovered untouched. If Khufu and Khafre’s tomb had been untouched King Tut’s would’ve been greatly overshadowed in value.
@@TOSUnbound OK sorry i misunderstood you
Great job guys ! Very informative and most interesting. King Tut’s mummy and tomb - incredible sights which most will never see. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for tips on the haggling etc., small bills, join a tour would certainly help as you’ve said. That’s especially difficult for you guys trying to film. But you captured it well and dealt with it well in your video. Well done!
We just visit yesterday The Valley of the Kings and you mist the most and best preserved tomb of all, tomb of queen Nefertari (Valley of the Queens).First thing first there are just few people, and the in the tomb it self you are all most alone, best experience ever (expensive but worth it every penny).
I am going to Egypt this month, cheers for this video.
Hope you have good time here in Egypt 🇪🇬
@@BusinessEnglish607 sorry you had bad experience but please do not generalize the bad people you met to be same as 100 million Egyptians 😅
Yosra Hamza haha don’t think so. Every time i stopped my car in Cairo grown up men knocking on my window asking for food... thats just disgusting behaviour. Are you guys all hungry? Plus everyone is just there to rip you off, they are is no decency there, you might grind or laugh reading this but decent people don’t find it funny.
@@BusinessEnglish607 again not claiming all Egyptians are angels we have our good and bad
All i sm asking is respect and not to generalize
Thank you for your kind words
Yosra Hamza the only thing you get from me is 🤮
Great video! Thanks for sharing! Thanks for the tips as well!
On spot with all the information. We had the same experience with the hassling which was the most annoying spoiling the experience.
Everything else was amazing! Thanks for sharing
Who wants to put up with all this hassling/begging, just watch the monuments and get out of Egypt asap.

I randomly decided to search for a video on a tour of the valley of the kings, and this was uploaded a day ago. Nice timing!
It's crazy that the government isn't attempting to do anything about all the people harassing tourist. Watching these videos has lowered my expectations and excitement for going to Egypt in November
i totally agree with you guys! it was so intense and people try to get every penny from you, scamming, lie, faking and rude. it will be so much better if tourist doesnt need to experience that.
I visited Egypt back in 1990. And if you are fascinated in the history of this ancient culture, it it more than totally worth it. But I agree with Cody, you better do a guided tour. Even back then it was obvious that you would constantly get bugged if you were by yourself, so I can only imagine it must be much worse these days. It was truly magical though, and for me it remains one of the best places I ever visited.
A fan from Egypt living in Alexandria, I would love to help you if you ever wanted to visit us here, I love your videos they are so funny and full of energy anyway hit me up if you will ⚡

Hey Cody, been a while since I've commented. Valley of the Kings, nice video and thank you for the "worth visiting". I could feel the tension as you were talking to us inside the pyramid and then came the caption at the bottom. I totally understand, my wife and I went on a cruise and Jamacia was one of the stops. They warned us not to get off the beatin' path, I didn't think I was going to get out of there with my shirt still on. Gee. You've been putting on some AWESOME VIDEOS!!! WOW, thanks for all that you have done. Tom-WV
Thanks for the tips Cody and keeping it real ❤
I think the advice you gave was relevant to fellow travelers.
Enjoyed the video.
Love you cody Egyptian living in NY 😍 you made me home sick
Gonna visit egypt soon 💃 your video is very informative 👍
Oh my gosh you made it there before I could, thanks for the information Cody
Thank you for this video!
$130 is a lot of money for you lmao!!! last time I was in Toronto, I spent over $100 for just a decent dinner.
It depends who you are and where you are from, for an American, it isn't a lot, because you'd need to be rich to pay the flight from the US to Egypt. For the British it would be very expensive, because we can fly to Egypt very cheaply (£20 to Hurghada is the cheapest I have seen from the UK), so working class people and students also go sometimes too.
Marcus Tullius Cicero you don’t know what you are saying. You don’t need to be a rich American to go to Egypt. Flights sent that expensive. People are able to save money and come out without a problem but being ripped off nonstop w your hard earned money isn’t fun for anyone. A trip regardless for who it is adds up, hotels, Uber, food and etc
I don't think young travelers interested in history would spend that much on a dinner.
Then I guess Toronto is just too expensive for me to ever visit, because for $100, I could feed myself for a month in my country.
How can you even question it? It's a very special place with a very special atmosphere. When I was there I felt very humble among so much ancient history and all this people who had lived in it.
We leave for our Egypt trip in a month so the tips information was awesome! I am the one responsible for the tips. We visited Petra in Jordan and I left the tip money at the hotel. I didn't realize it until half way through the tour. I told the guide what happened and he said, ok. Then told the group, "See you at the top" and left us.
Thankyou this is amazing I love history like this
Nice one, I was just there, definitely worth it.
I am really enjoying your videos at the moment Cody :) x
Had the honor of visiting here in 2009 and Egypt has to be my all time favorite country to visit ❤️❤️
King Tut died from an infection on the leg and the fact that he was in bred, he had a lot of illnesses.
Oh yes egypt is amazing the mother of the world 🌍 🇪🇬, i love egypt
Black Africans ancient Egypt
Yeah he's right , it happens alot to me and I am from Egypt 😂😂
Wow thank you for the video Cody...really interesting stuff. :) -patty
*Hi, there_ Myself, is so glad that you have me back "Once again" to your content. But! Nice job & thanks, for playing video.*
Egypt was always fascinating for me since my childhood. These people's are really old. I would love to visit those places some day.
thanks for your comments we wont be able to go there now for health reasons so will have to get to see these places from your videos thanks very it was well done stay safe see ya
i just watched three of your videos and that's crazy coz it's all amazing bro keep 💪
I’d love to travel to a Egypt one day, but worry about safety. I’d have to really study which places are safest to visit as a tourist.
Hurghada is the safest
Awesome video
This is my city I'm life in Luxor😍
And welcome anytime❤️❤️
Sad there is a price on history ... much of which we aren’t told the truth about anyway. I have dreamed of going there and would’ve been highly disappointed too! Thanks for sharing what you could. Looking forward to the next vid. 😊
He said it wouldn't have costed so much if he had 5-10 or 20s
Just for reference 15 is about 1$
He could have went through even 10 annoying guards with 10$
But he only had 200s..and in the end it costed 130$ for all the places ,driver and the tour guide
Which isn't much considering how some americans i've seen pay more for in game items in a week lol
The money will go towards the preservation and upkeep of what you're paying to see.
This is something I like the info video I enjoy it nice
Going to Egypt this year!!
awsome video
I was there two years ago.... tour agency in cairo organized everything. Stayed 2 nights in luxor at steingenberger nile palace ...visited valley of the kings ...ticket included 6 tombs...including king tuts.... guide was great....
They do not allow guides to go in the tombs with their guests.... period....
They all have a place to waiting area.
Cairo luxor return airticket +hotel and meals + guide with driver and a/c car...
Cost me around $1000 Canadian...
It was worth it... the guide was knowledgeable....loved it loved....
Been there done that.... so i wouldn't do that tour again....it was an experience that I would cherish for the rest of my life....
Great to watch this series as I was just in Egypt at the end of October. Valley of the Kings was a MUST see in my opinion. I opted not to go into King Tuts tomb to save some money and we didn't miss it. The other tombs were all amazing.
Totally agree with you on the vendors and the people in the tombs constantly giving advice on where to take photos then asking for money, I did anticipate it but does get quite draining after a while.
Very nice!
Simply hassling is because Egypt lives in a grinding economic crises so its expected if you visit Egypt nowadays... But I love your budgeting and bargaining
9:45 No No No 😂😂😂😂😂 Omg but what did that man say “ la la la” ?
La means no in Arabic
CoralandStuff i know but i mean that men the black one
That intro blasted my ears owwwww
was just there today... i loved it. If youre into egyptology its worth it
The government should really take this issue seriously. I travel alone and I feel insecure to visit by myself...it really stops me from going
Sweet!
I'm tryna keep up on your videos Damn!!!. I'm gonna watch it today!. Since don't have work today.
I got a tour on 'get your guide' we had a driver and a guide it cost around 20 euro we then had to pay extra for entrance fees but over all it cost around 50 euro for 4 tombs, a boat ride in the Nile and lunch it was so worth it and a great app to have if you travel
You don't have to tip them. They try to show you a random thing and talk about it, then afterward they will want a tip. When they come up to you just simply say no thank you or just ignore them. This applies to ALL other places in Eygpt too, you will have the same guys dressed in robes with a name tag trying to show you something, Don't do it they will want money.
Sounds like all the tourist attractions in Egypt have people who hassle you for money or to buy stuff - I heard if you just say "No" they move on. I had the same issue at the Souks in Dubai too and when I said no -- no one bothered me. Looking forward to visiting Egypt soon.
You truly improved your guiding skills. For me you are one of the best RUclips vloggers. Your energy and positivity makes your subscribers wanting more to watch your vlog including me. Love it Cody. Your sparkling teeth added the attraction too, and your physical preparation is simply fit for an excellent traveler.👌❤
Btw, why would the Egyptian police wanting to ask money from you, when you have paid already that much? Are their tourism board allows that to happen? Are they not serious about how incredible history they have? They are scaring many tourists who are just dying to see their beautiful historic country. I hope ordinary Egyptians citizens start organizing themselves for tourism guide movement, and not wait for their politicians do it, to increase their tourism income. This is just a suggestion, no offense meant. I just love Egypt and their amazing history.
Cody, I hope you put all the travel reasonable priced hotels, tour guides, tourist spots, the dont's and the do's on a particular country. - more love from the Philippines🇵🇭
Great video! Any recommendation of reliable tour companies that provide guides?
Thank you from Thailand,I have plan visit Egypt in April 2020.

I went 15 years ago and was so so much cheaper. I can say I’ve been and was great to see but will never travel back to Egypt. You couldn’t pay me to go back to Egypt (did meet a few lovely hotel workers), it was the worst experience travelling which is a shame. Also Tutankhamen’s tomb was tiny and the most underwhelming, so don’t expect much of your planning on going to see it. There are far more impressive tombs in valley of the kings and queens. X
3:33 The killer was mold in the first place Cody. A priceless clue indeed.
İt's wiped them out, and it is wiping us out, right now.
Remember the plague scene in the movie Tomb Raider 2018.
What she was saying?
"She (mummy) was a carrier!"
Mummies were their mommies. Could it be?
Amazing Egypt, country of magic and rest
It’s got to be worth it for sure.
Buen vídeo .
I can't hold me the laugh the Josh face at the minute 9:47 it's funny Greettings from Paraguay Cody

Spot on
Yah it worth visiting I hope visit there ones
Hell yeah Luxor is 1000% worth visiting I even wanna visit it again their is so much there!
Thanks Cody sounds like they nickel and dime you!! Beautiful places tho!!!!!
Is it required to tip like you were mentioning at the end of the video?
If you go to the Valley of the Kings, you should visit the Tomb of SETI. That will make it worth it. Not sure why you felt haggled, I have been to Egypt twice and absolutely loved the place and the people.
That was amazing when are you and Josh going to explore abandoned building's again sighted chris goldsberry ps keep doing what you do you're awesome
Hello Cody
😂😂😂that is the Same what i experiens in Egypt ✌✌✌👋👋👋😍😍😍💙💙💙
Absolutely worth it! I've been there and have no complaints except aggressive souvenir sellers which you can avoid them. You went with private tour "guides" next time try reliable agency and use group tours for less money.
Hey Cody , don't they have audio guides?
Nice
These were the treasures found in the small tomb of the relatively obscure young Tut. Imagine the treasures larger tombs of mighty kings like Ramsis II must have had.
I was there around 1982 and there wasn’t any charge to go in Tuts tomb. At least I don’t remember. Great video. Thanks!
I was there in 92 and no charge 3 tickets any tombs you like .
Maybe I did pay to get in but I don’t remember spending so much money? And I got to go into Tuts actual tomb! Can’t do that today.
Idk why they would remove all his treasures from his tomb. Looking at his mummy like tht just looks sad. He had a big crown and a gold tomb and all. Idk that little glass tomb they made doesn’t fit a king.
You need a video on whether one or the greatest ancient civilizations is worth visiting?
The thing about guides not entering with you it’s just that guides are prohibited from explaining/lecturing inside the tombs
I can spend there a week Totally awesome
We waiting u in Alexandria north Egypt
Best city in Egypt sharm el shekh and hurghada
please come to SgBatu, old iron furnace 2811 years old (carbon dating 788BC). Not just one furnace, and millions of tuyere.
Of course deserve so most of treasure to king Tut Ankh Amoun and his family was found there on contrary of others ancient kings families .
Visiting Egypt is nice as long as you know someone there. When I visited Cairo though, it was awful with all the traffic and lots of pretentious rich people that look down on the poor in the streets. Very sad.
So will Google translate work with hieroglyphics?
I don't think so, it's still too complex even for us (humans) so a machine even AI wouldn't be quicker 😂😂 I'm studying hieroglyphs and it's so complicated..
They still haven't finished the dictionary cause they want to include 20 000 words and it's been 19 years since they've began the project 😖😅

Its amazing how much information has been lost or that we just dont understand. A lot of the symbols found across the world can I guess have meanings that we no longer understand. Good luck in your studys.
I love Egypt it was my dream tour. Sadly people simply scam you, never hold the items for sale by the touts. The price increases once you hold it
They will also push items into your hand for this reason
I went back in 2017 and only cost like £15 for everything travelling from hurghada.
It would be interesting, see more, these things, giant statues. Not disregarding the historical facts. But it's hard to see the giant monuments up close.
I went there in 1984, cost was $6. Plus renting a bicycle to get there $2.
What an amazing place to see first hand! It was wild seeing a mummy in real life! It felt pretty creepy haha
🇪🇬❤️🇪🇬❤️🇪🇬❤️🇪🇬
its all true
i would recommend taking ferry and than taxi for 160
and yes people are so annoying you just want to stay in hotel sometimes
I just spent $40 to visit the Vanderbilt mansion in RI and it is only 120 years old... lol
130 to see all of that is not that bad.
It could be worst. Trust me, locals will see you like walking ATM's. I've been there and he got ripped off badly.
Before going to Egypt learn some of their history so you'll find which Tombs to go to. Egypt is an amazing country to travel
but nice will not go a long way with the locals.
thats too much indeed. All of the other worders of the world are a fifth of that price. complete rip off.
