  • The Valley of the Kings also known as the Valley of the Gates of the Kings is a valley in Egypt where, for a period of nearly 500 years from the 16th to 11th century BC, rock-cut tombs were excavated for the pharaohs and powerful nobles of the New Kingdom.
    The valley stands on the west bank of the Nile, opposite Thebes (modern Luxor), within the heart of the Theban Necropolis. The wadi consists of two valleys, East Valley (where the majority of the royal tombs are situated) and West Valley.
    With the 2005 discovery of a new chamber and the 2008 discovery of two further tomb entrances, the valley is known to contain 64 tombs and chambers. It was the principal burial place of the major royal figures of the Egyptian New Kingdom, as well as a number of privileged nobles. The royal tombs are decorated with scenes from Egyptian mythology and give clues as to the beliefs and funerary practices of the period. Almost all of the tombs seem to have been opened and robbed in antiquity, but they still give an idea of the opulence and power of the pharaohs.

    Thanks for the video, it was fascinating to watch. The tomb of Rameses IV looks impressive with magnificent colours, which is curious given that he reigned at the beginning of Egypt’s decadence. I'll be sure to visit when I go to the KV. PS: Your little boy is lovely.

    Nice video 😍 love from Indonesia
    I had been there in 2010. Merneptah sarcophagus is very amazing. By the way Merneptah, Seti 1, Rammeses are still greatest pharaohs in history.
    I also visited Hatsepsut temple. I still remember the steps on the temple made me so tired 🤣

    Most interesting to see the changes that have been implemented since we visited in 1987, if a little disappointing to notice the deterioration in some areas. Do you have video of other areas of the vast necropolis?
    eg The Valley of the Queens, Tombs of the Nobles, Deir el Bahri and the Village of the Workmen. The tomb of Sennedjem there was the most beautiful of all the ones we visited.

    Thanks for this. I was sorry to see that the mummified remains of King Tut are on display. I visited this tomb in 1956, 1983, and 1991 and on all three occasions the gold inner coffin was on display. One of the best tombs to visit is Seti I, but at 1,000 EGP (about £45 June 2021) a ticket, I can understand not many choose to!

      @@Elonas I believe the best preserved tomb of all is Nefertari's in the Valley of the Queens. I saw it back in 1983, but after that it was closed for restoration. Now open again at a hefty price. I remember my guide trying to persuade me that the diaphanous skirts you see in some of the frescoes were nylon! Be sure to upload your second visit please. I really like these 4K tours. Much appreciated.

    • @Elonas
      @Elonas  2 года назад

      Hi Wendy, if you talk specifically about Valley of The Kings then no, its not too bad as all the tombs are tightly packed, so not too much walking 😉 There's more walking in Karnak temples or even Luxor Temple. I would say it's definitely worth staying 2 days to see most of what Luxor has to offer. But depends how long you are planning to stay in Sharm El Sheikh as Luxor is quite far away 😬

    All i can think watching this is that I'm 52 years old and have wanted to visit egypt my whole life since i was about 11 years old. I have hundreds of books, seen hundreds of videos, know the history, pharoahs, can read heiroglyphs somewhat, but I've never been lucky enough to afford to go there. But here's this little kid in the red shirt...and because his parents have money.. He's there. And cannot possibly grasp one millionth of what i would grasp. But he's there and I'm not. It's maddening. This would be the biggest moment of my entire life and for this kid...it seems like a merry go round at a neighborhood park. A video game would entertain him more. He seems Completely unaffected. I'd be in total awe. It's unbelievably sad and demoralizing.

      Just because you can’t go, a child who’s sole purpose in life is to have better things than we did can’t go? Instead of shutting on people who are living your fantasy, do something about it. Making them & their kid feel bad isn’t going to get you any closer to visiting.

      I agree. Why are the parents wasting their money to bring a kid that won’t appreciate it, won’t remember it and in the dad’s own words “couldn’t care less”. It’s like parents who drop 3k to take their literal infant to Disneyworld smh.

    A bird serves as an image of the soul, and since a bird is born from an egg, the soul is born from an egg, all creatures that are born from eggs are used in the symbolism of rebirth, a snake carries the egg of a soul bird to heaven, a crocodile shows the conception of a heavenly body by the soul without using a sexual organ, in crocodiles this organ is not visible, as if it no, but conception happens quickly and imperceptibly.
    A person with the head or wings of a bird shows the birth of a soul in his new body.

    People watching this video ,did you know that the Europeans now say that king TuT has 70 precent European DNA. Common sense tells you that if both of his parents were 100 💯 African , please explain how can king Tut's DNA is 70 percent European. Keep dreaming . kemet (AKA) Egypt was an African creation. It doesn't matter how much others of non African descent try to lay claim ,you can't skip over that huge African man with the Lion's body called the the Sphinx a clear depiction of a African man created by African people.

    • @user-ki6id4vt8u
      @user-ki6id4vt8u 3 месяца назад

      African is a generic term and can mean anything from an Arabic to an Eastern Bantu African. Be specific and learn the correct terminology. Ancient Egyptians are today’s Egyptian Arabs who now have an Arabic culture. It has nothing to do with Black folk as the Egyptians were not Black and this is evident by today’s Egyptians and the Art depicted which we could still observe today. Enough with your nonsense. It’s not European or African. There are other ethnic groups too. Saying African man with an African body can mean anything from a White north African to a Southern Eastern African individual and is almost ignorant to note it down. It is no different to using the term “Asian” and expecting the Chinese to look like Indians. You sound like a typical African American that lacks knowledge of Africa.
