No Harri you’re so right! As I grow my channel that is something I’m seriously having to contend with the fact that hate sells. A lot of the time I don’t wanna talk about negative trending topics but bro when I try to make less problematic content it FLOPS BAD🥴. I made several videos about house of the Dragon and interview with the vampire and they literally bombed terribly in the algorithm, but then I made a video talking about Weaponized incompetence and it’s almost at 100K so it’s literally profitable; it’s a mess. If that's the realest thing I've heard this year. It's why so many celebs that NEED to be gone are still here. It's why the Kardashians have been onscreen for as long as they've been. Hell, it's how Tyler Perry keeps making bank since he knows love or hate them, people watch his movies, putting money directly into his pocket.
Genuinely cannot stand how hate is so profitable 😭 esp how we're in a time where kindness and harmless fun is much needed. It's also become so normalized to be flat out nasty like what!!!!

I’m glad I’m not the only feeling this way, I’m personally genuinely tired with how the cartoon community (mainly reviewers) are always so negative and toxic whenever they talk about a certain series whether it be old or new and they usually talk about what they hate about it but they never seem to mention any of the positives at all and even at times have some of the most wildest takes and if you call them out on it or god forbid simply have a different opinion they will immediately go into defence mode and attack you.
So you're saying that people have to say positive things about The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure? No, they should not. That movie barely has any redeeming qualities.
Really dislike how much of a commodity negativity has become. And I hate how the Internet has prioritized being catty and nasty to people. Being mean is seen as “cool” and anyone who at least tries to build a healthy medium and balance out the toxicity with genuine positivity, it’s treated with a lot of vitriol and so many people at the ready to dunk on you for it. Admittedly, in some very small instances, it CAN be funny when it’s warranted but 9 times out of 10, it snowballs into bringing out the worst in people. Sucks all around. (Won’t stop me from trying to be a positive force in the world, though!)

@@TubezThe1So you're saying that people can't say anything negative about The Oogieloves in the Big Balloon Adventure even though it's one of the worst kids films ever made and that one of the producers (Kenn Viselman) is an oversensitiive dolt who doesn't even understand preschoolers/family films in general? (He legit said Up was inappropriate for kids because of intense moments.)

The drastic change in recent years from being able to market your own stuff to now having to associate with "well known" things to get traction...it's been tiring. For me, it gets hard to care; I've really been disincentivized from taking art seriously in a career sense. It's sad to see how things went downhill, but either too few people actually want this to change, or most don't remember much of what the scene used to be like prior.
I feel like I’m just too tired to hate anymore. There’s a lot of stuff I don’t like, but I just don’t care enough to talk about them like at all. I don’t know where people muster up the energy to create social media pages dedicated to hating artists and media or stalking artists online because it’s just not worth it to me.
Same. It's just gotten to exhausting. I mean I feel like I got to hired to being hating everything back in 2015, because at a certain point, I thought to myself. Does every RUclipsr, political commentator, pastor, televangelist, politician, influencer, etc. All have to comment on everything. Also make their videos several hours long, or like people online, when they have to make like two page essays on stuff.
i definitely don't mind people critiquing things for content, bc that's what helps us artists learn! however, i feel like most or all nuance is forgone in favor of blind hate, because that's what sells. for example, i myself am not a fan of lore olympus, despite having read the whole comic. i have a LOT of issues with it, but i also recognize that it’s incredible for a female artist to have the #1 comic on webtoon and that she and her team worked their asses off to make it. and that work deserves to be paid for and acknowledged! but when i watch videos critiquing it, i never hear anyone say that. it's either all bad and we should hate every aspect, or all good and we should love every aspect. no in between.
I don’t like Mr. Crocker in The Fairly OddParents. A lot of the characters were unlikable.

But then it got stale…
Ngl, Teen Titans Go is actually one of the funniest shows I watched as a teen. I just think it’s goofy and too absurd to be taken too seriously, which is why all the critique videos of the show that came around during that 2017-2019 period confused me. I guess I felt like I had to dislike the show because so many people were hating on it. But now I appreciate it for what it is, dumb, goofy fun.

I didn't love poof but replacing the friends was part of why. if poof was only a minor character for episodes where needed and they never added the dog i'd still be watching and there's no way they ran out of ideas for the characters when they literally have MAGIC in the universe it just feels sad and lazy. Bums me out, both about the show but also that hate sells because it's also fun to emphasize the good in these shows
