7 years ago playing this: "Damn this game good and Max sound so badass and hardcore. A lone wolf crippling with depression with no actual future. 7 years later, I relocate to a new place, no family, friends left, my dad pass away. Just my mother & I. Alone, depressed, not yet graduate, nearly 1 year unemployed. I totally relate to Max Payne now.
Run into a South American guy at a Bar who says he remembers you from the Police academy and then take up his offer to become a bodyguard for a billionaire and his family and then uncover a conspiracy about an organ harvesting ring going down in Sao Paulo being ringled by your employer's brother. jokes aside I hope you things get better for you
i have no friends my dad passed away just me and my mother im alone i have depression i didnt graduate high school im unemployed my life is the same as max payne
Damn, this game's good and depressing. "Fate was mocking me, the same bad joke I'd heard a hundred times before. But it wasn't the time for self-pity."
"You can't run from your past. you'll just end up running in circles, then fall down the hole you originally escaped from, only this time, it's deeper."
"I'd been shot more times than I could remember, but this felt different. Maybe fate was sending me a message. Trying to tell me my luck was finally about to run out. Or maybe I just severed an artery and was bleeding out like any number of fools who got shot playing with guns. Either way, I was failing fast." RIP James McCaffrey [*]
Yeah man so did Max's life. in 3rd game he is depressed as he lost his family he lives in memory of past suffering.he is addicted to painkillers the blame is on us we used so many damn painkillers
I've heard all the complaints about why Max Payne 3 sucks, how it "departs" too much from the first two. I think in some ways it had to. Look at our own lives. Bad things happen to us, and if we stay dwelling on them and living in the past, it will consume us. Look at MP3 from that angle. Max had to move on...not to mention he had a contract out on him in Jersey. Leaving the country made perfect sense. But also look at what they put in the game to remind us of the past MP stories...The theme song, the painkillers, bullet time, shoot dodging, Max narrating throughout the game, the same voice actor so it actually sounds like the same Max we all know and love, two chapters that put us back in Jersey, one in the cemetery to visit Michelle and Rose's graves. All that plus new settings and new characters and stories. I think MP3 is a great game. Of course I love the first 2, but I just think MP3 had to be different. But in my opinion it stayed true to the franchise. But of course if you don't agree and still enjoy 1 & 2 better, then I guess just keep playing 1&2...it's not like they will ever get old anyway. Without question one of the greatest franchises ever. Long live Max Payne
MPlay The 3rd game by itself is just fine. The real problem arises when you try comparing it with the first two games, when the prequels differ too much from the sequels then they start creating a certain dissonance. Look, in short, have you played any RPG's? It's like this: Leather Armor: +3 Defence, +300 HP, Iron Armor: +6 Defence, +600 HP; Reinforced Waistcoat: + 5 Defence, -300 HP, +20 Magic; In other words, just like gear, prequels are not always improved versions of the sequels countepart, sure we got better graphics, new combat system, new story etc, but at the same time i feel like Max Payne 3 lost something that the first two games had, though as to what i can't tell. Mostly likely it's because Remedy didn't make the game, but Rockstar, again, i'm not saying the game is bad but it feels like you're trading one thing for another.
I can't believe The voice of Max Payne James McCaffrey have passed away.......I feel like New upcoming Remake of Max Payne ain't going to be the same without him in it.... RIP James McCaffrey for ours childhood......
I'd say this game was criminally overlooked, not underrated. The combat mechanics, cover system, story, music... everything about this game besides the longer unskipable cutscenes was perfect.
@@Lakerfanforlife Wow, I didn't even remember writing this comment Anyway... Bruce Lee once said that "pain will leave you once it's done teaching you". It's true that sometimes life hits hard and we never hear the shot that takes us down but at the same time as Bob Marley once said "you can never know how strong you are until your only option is being strong".
Thrice, it was Sam Lake in Max Payne, Timothy Gibbs in Max Payne II: The Fall of Max Payne, and James McCaffrey in Max Payne 3. I am broken, after hearing about this man, he was literally half of my childhood, Rest in Peace Jim.
How ironic and poetic is it, that in MP3, for Max, the past really is another country. Great game. The moral of MP3 surmises who he was in the previous two games, he was never really trying to save anyone, he was just the right guy in the wrong place, doing the right thing the wrong way.
For me, this game was like saying goodbye to my childhood. I was 11 when the first game came out and 21 when this one arrived. After completing it I felt a sense of sadness and completeness ready to move on to the next phase of my life. Still love playing it once in a while though! Max is one of the greatest video game characters ever created
All this time we got the fable of Sleeping Beauty wrong. The prince didn't kiss her to wake her up. No one who slept for a hundred years is likely to wake up. It was the other way round. He kisses her to wake himself up from the nightmare that has brought him there. -Max Payne
R.I.P. James McCaffrey I only played this game (probably the best third person shooter I've ever played), but that was after I had watched walkthroughs of the first two games and became engrossed in the stories, the gameplay and Max's character. James's performance was a huge part of that enjoyment to me across these games.
"Life was good. The sun setting on a sweet summer's day. The smell of freshly mowed lawns, the sounds of children playing. A house across the river on the Jersey side. A beautiful wife and a baby girl. The American Dream come true." Max (flashback): Honey, I'm home! "But dreams have a nasty habit of going bad when you're not looking. The sun went down with practiced bravado. Twilight crawled across the sky, laden with foreboding." Max (flashback): Michelle? Honey, anybody home? "I didn't like the way the show started, but they had given me the best seat in the house: front row center."
Beatfull1 You're right but in a way Max was haunted by his own demons. I haven't seen the movie but I think the creators meant it that way by the demon figures in the movie.
It baffles me how they managed to fuck up a film for a game who's roots were firmly planted in film noir. Also how they managed to make one the most iconic characters in video gaming history be bland as fuck.
Finland, the country that knows booze and depression. Delivered one of the best "detective noir" characters even rivaling Hollywood's best. Hüva suomi!
This is a very well ending for my man Max, the moment he walking in the sunset, taking a beer, and truly moving on with his life after all the shit happened, i'm really happy for him. This series will always have a place in my childhood
@@maryrosedeleon-valenzuela I think the soda works, showing that Max was putting his past of drunkenness and moving on to a present (and future) of sobriety.

The year is 2020, June 9th.. around 3 A.M. washing my sorrows with music from the past. The more i look at the world, the more i see how corrupted and awful the world is. COVID, riots, ww3, and death... the year of reckoning, the year of Pain. No one knew how this year would play out but now... now its unthinkable. We live in a society where the News tells us the bad guys are good guys and the good guys are bad guys... either way its a bunch of bullshit. In the end, everyone is trying to figure out how to survive. In the end, nothing will change.
I owe a lot to the Max, his charisma made me my eximio see a writer, even with it my fault. His pace fit like a glove for my motivation. Today I have two short stories published in a newspaper and a matter on the internet. I owe a lot to Max because he made me discover who I was and the gift I have.
This soundtrack is the definition of my life. Lost my house that i grew up in for 14 years and watched it get demolished. Lost my father at the age of 15 and will never have the chance to do all the stuff that my sister did growing up. Lost my dog Oxley to cancer and watched him get put to sleep. And soon will loose my dog Tommy to old age anytime soon (hes 17). My whole life has been awful since the start of 2022 and i just want to go back. Miss Oxley, miss Dad, miss my old memories at my old house. And everytime we drive past it i just see a pit of grass and seeing the backyard where i play ball with Oxley and see the shed where Dad always hangs out. Sometimes i think about suicidal so i can stop suffering from all the pain.
Dont think about suicide. What would people you love think if you were dead? Think about a good life you can have. If you do suicide, there wont be any chance of you being happy. I think you should get professional help.
I won't lie. Perhaps I don't have adequate understanding of your pain but the only thing I will say is stand your ground the way you want it. Forget about the world for a moment. Just use the means at your hand to deal with your issues. If you fail, no problem. Do it at your pace but please don't go the way where you feel like ending it all.
If you give up, you are essentially admitting defeat to your circumstances and the bad luck that decided to hit you. You do not want that, believe me. Fight on, through whatever means necessary as the person above me said. You *will* thank yourself later.
I feel bad for Max, his beautiful wife and baby daughter, killed in cold blood. Killed the one responsible for their deaths but still can't get on with his life. He found found a lover, Mona but didn't really end well. And now he goes to Brazil hoping to get a fresh start, working for protection but he never managed to protect the people he was supposed to protect. He finds himself in deep shit, people smuggling people. But in the end he found peace, taking down all the bad guys, and turning into the ultimate badass we all know and love. I love this game, I really wouldn't know what to do if that happened to me. maybe just drink my problems away lol
"Here I am, back here again reading comments of a game most everybody forgot about, living in a town so far from where I started that the demons and devil's from all the hell I raised back in that God forsaken place couldn't find me. You dig yourself deep enough in a hole past where the light can't reach; you'll too loose the ability to see yourself. Digging past the graves that you placed in the ground from all those BAD decisions that now permeate the air. Reeks of bong water, cheep gas stations, and cow manure without the ability to grow anything from it. I figured If I digged deep enough id come out the other side of the world a new man and a clean slate, not smelling of dirt, booze, and a bad case of emotional baggage. Every now and then i come back to this game hoping to find some strength to keep going and maybe even a miracle to bring me out of this dark corner I stumbled into; half drunk and half dead. Maybe every time I finish the last chapter and I see Max let go of the past and build a future for himself; I get a small iota of hope that one day I'll break my annoying habbit of "self sabotage" and actually be useful for a change. Then again..."

@Eren Kıdık God I just wish they would make this backward compatible.
+John Rainey its the same kind people who idolize black ops 3 so their opinion means bullshit
beautiful comment
+John Rainey
And yet, it's not the same. Blame nostalgia.
+Kay Redfield Yeah, nostalgia isn't good if someone uses it to show that MP 3 is bad, because games are changing and they have to
MPlay
The 3rd game by itself is just fine. The real problem arises when you try comparing it with the first two games, when the prequels differ too much from the sequels then they start creating a certain dissonance.
Look, in short, have you played any RPG's? It's like this:
Leather Armor: +3 Defence, +300 HP,
Iron Armor: +6 Defence, +600 HP;
Reinforced Waistcoat: + 5 Defence, -300 HP, +20 Magic;
In other words, just like gear, prequels are not always improved versions of the sequels countepart, sure we got better graphics, new combat system, new story etc, but at the same time i feel like Max Payne 3 lost something that the first two games had, though as to what i can't tell. Mostly likely it's because Remedy didn't make the game, but Rockstar, again, i'm not saying the game is bad but it feels like you're trading one thing for another.

How ironic and poetic is it, that in MP3, for Max, the past really is another country. Great game. The moral of MP3 surmises who he was in the previous two games, he was never really trying to save anyone, he was just the right guy in the wrong place, doing the right thing the wrong way.

I'm so sorry. I hope you're in a better place mentally now.
