You’re doing something completely wrong when your game is dead before the playoffs even begin. This is the time MLB The Show should be at its peak and not at its end
@@derekhanson5579 Shouldn’t matter. If the gameplay is tight and the content is correct the community should still be playing. This is happening consistently every year with the show and it’s an issue
@@joshuasorrt8241completely agree 22 was the first modern the show I played. I had a ton of fun playing it but then it all just resets the next year as I played diamond dynasty the most. I think this is the main problem with all sports games.
@@joshuasorrt8241 No it absolutely does matter. The majority of sports fans are crossover sports fan. Saying it shouldn't matter is so obscenely stupid and illogical. It's literally one of the most important factors.
Agreed, they realized nobody buys Stubbs or Madden bucks playing Franchise or RTTS/Superstar modes. Bc it’s all super corporate now they see 0 point in putting money into making modes better if they aren’t designed to make you buy packs or in game currency
@@PadresFan420it’s all designed to manipulate little kids. Card packs, Fortnite cellies and shit. It’s just simple dumb things that entice children, that they know they can get them to use their parents credit cards on. It’s sad but I’ve just accepted that this is the world we live in with sports gaming companies and how they appeal to this new generation of kids.
I’ve played over 1,000 hours for each game since MLB 20. I’m at just under 300 hours in 24 and haven’t played since Season 2 ended. I’m not sick of the game but I am sick of the same old grind and losing cards I have earned. I’ll come back for Finest, but I have been pretty unhappy this year with what I am getting for what I paid.
I would play 1000 mp games before the end of April. Over the last few years I have drastically cut my playing time to around 500 gamez for the entire season!! I HATE DD!! HATE IT!! No skill needed! I don't pay for shiii!°
I play franchise or ROTS. Expecting fun from Diamond Dynasty is just dumb honestly. Playing somebody online couldn't get further from an authentic baseball game simulation. The game is good just the ultimate team portion is trash always was always will be just like for every sports game
@@TheKingHelper639I used to constantly push that narrative to the Madden community , see how great that worked? Plenty of Madden content creators have as well , only to be scrutinized and trolled with excuses.
Road to the show is so terrible. I hit 150 home runs and broke every season hitting record, and they still only wanted me to sign for the minimum. After that, I never booted the game up again. What’s the point?
I mean I pay all my guys the minimum in franchise mode for as long as I can… In the MLB you won’t have any leverage until you hit arbitration at the earliest.
Road to the show has no depth and it used to be my favorite mode. They tried to act like the draft combine was something “new” but it literally was just taken away for no apparent reason and brought back with LITERALLY no changes 😭. How much is it for me to ask for on field BP from a coach before games, or batting in batting cages off a tee or something. Just no development at all 🤦♂️
@@TossGawd your first arbitration year you jack up the demand and you take them to the cleaners. I always win my case. They don't have to pay in the renewal years why would they? It's not like the money means anything anyway
Honestly locking cards out after seasons are over ruined it for me I thought it was a great idea at first but knowing I can’t use the cards I grind for or may have paid for are restricted and it’s just a pain in the ass to have to keep grinding all year to get better 99 cards
Sets and seasons was their way of saying "we don't have the rights to a lot of players/legends so sets and seasons allows us to make the same players with different overalls, throughout the year."
They really need a graphics overhaul. This is by far the worst looking sports game. Still using PS3 graphics with 4k resolution and use animations/cut scenes from PS2 989 game with Eric Chavez on cover It's pathetic.
This is one thing I don't see enough people talking about. The game looks like an early Xbox One game from 2014 Super Mega Baseball 3 literally looks better 😂
this is really not talked about and youre so right. they need to ditch the old gen consoles soon and really focus in on maximizing the games potential with focusing on PS5/series X
Season Awards might've been the worst and most boring addition ever, ruined the whole Player of the Month program. They just drop one each week and think we will have fun with that. The card at the end isn't even worth all that grind. Content just went way downhill. I remember they said in one of the streams that they listen to their players but looks like they do but don't care about it. They even updated Vladdy's hair as soon as he got his haircut, but can't even drop a program that's worth the grind. They should innovate with new modes, not that type of program that ruined Lightining Player Programs with Season Awards. And of course, sets and season don't work with the lack of legends and the wrong way they manage content.
Season one player programs weren’t as bad, we got Profar, who I still used as a wild card in S3, Mookie n Gunnar, then it went way downhill. Most of these players weren’t even useable so didn’t do most programs
A team vault would be great to have and a mode where you can actually use them in. Season mode would be great to have again at least let us do it in playoff mode.
There's an old baseball manager sim from the early 90s that lets you manage games between a bunch of the all-time greats. Wish I could remember what it was called.
It's been a disappointing season to say the least. I only play a couple games so it really is unfortunate when the one of few games you do play just falls off a cliff
This is literally the only game I play (time constraints prevent otherwise) and I'm at a loss of what game I will choose after spending so much time getting better at this one. Bummer 24 sucked. I got started in 21 and was apparently spoiled on start
I’m an AVID MLB The Show Player. As soon as that out of position bullshit came out, I stopped completely playing. It’s NOT fun. That shit is dumb as fuck.
TBH I know most people HATED MLB The Show 18, but I liked that Immortal shit for the most part. It was fun getting all the missions done… Taking your time. Now, content is so expedited, that’s it’s not even enjoyable. Just always looking forward to the next best thing.
I can't even get out of 570 in ranked anymore. Barely get a strikeout online, getting good hits within pci and it just popped out. Throw a strike to someone and it's gone. Not fun anymore
I've put THOUSANDS of hours into MLBTS diamond dynasty since '18. I came over from MUT after years of abuse from EA. I LOVED everything about MLBTS. It was easily my favorite game. I played every game into late November early December until '23. I stopped playing the first week of August. Sets/Seasons killed my desire to keep playing. I quit '24 the day Season 2 started. I have ZERO desire to keep starting over and rebuilding my team on SDS's schedule. It's my fucking team. I either grinded my ass of for the cards OR spent actual money on them. The thought that they have a 2-3 month arbitrary shelf life is ridiculous. Add to that the grind is completely monotonous. There is nothing new or exciting about the grind. At least with the old power creep I was constantly upgrading my team. Going from 99 overalls to 89's and starting that same exact grind over 3 months after the game released is asinine. On top of the horrendous copy/paste grind, there are not nearly enough players/legends for this type of model. I will NEVER play this game again as long as sets/seasons or whatever bullshit name change they try next year remains.
Wow. Are you me? Literally how I feel to a tee !!!!! I got into DD in ‘20 and it’s just beyond stale as well with the game modes too. Doesn’t even matter what year the game is, it’s the SAME THING. I made a comment just before but yours is much better than mine and much shorter. 😂. I stopped playing about a week or two before s2 ended. I just feel like just turning the game on just brings negative energy to me and it’s killed my desire to continue playing the game because I genuinely love playing baseball but I don’t love the grind anymore.
Im a RTTS player and im beyond disappointed with its lack of any depth being added. For 1 the draft combine that they acted like was new this year is literally a thing that was taken away for no reason. 2. Why can’t I still take batting practice from a coach on the field before games (at all levels) or have a batting cage and hit off a machine or like a tee. I could list so many wants but don’t have the effort anymore because it’s been years
I can’t believe the complete disrespect SDS showed the Negro Leagues. Spent all that money on a cool story line and invested zero into the Negro Leagues via Online modes/Content
Yea i loved the storylines mode but them not adding any classic teams or even negro league teams to exhibitions instead of just only being able to use the cards on ultimate team was surprising to me and this is my first baseball game since mlb 2k12.
I will say this: That 99 Buck Leonard was my favorite card for 2 months. I've been waiting my whole life for Josh Gibson, only to have his terrible swing....
@@MsSaskue360 Yeah it's fucking stupid, and idk why he's complaining about "disrespecting" the negro league players cards are literally disgustingly OP.
2 things 1) as an avid OOP supporter in the past, i am really mad at how poorly they executed, they just took the lazy way out and make most postition players pitchers and vice versa, it’s shoulda just been outfielders getting infield positions, starters getting closer, not this extreme 2) i’ve been hooked on 2k recently and it made me realize how terrible mlb the show is, 2k appeals the every generation of basketball fan, the casual “old heads” get to use the eras feature and play their very nice franchise mode, the young kids who just want to play my career with their friends in the park, and the middle guys who want to build up a team from their favorite child hood players and current players in myteam, mlb the show has 1 “good” mode and they make little to no changes to the others so when DD dies, the ENTIRE game dies, every year with 2k i stop playing mycareer, and then towards the end of the cycle i play myteam, mlb doesn’t have that sorry for the yap session SDS just pisses me tf off
The series died with 18 when online franchise was removed. DD has never been fun for me. All 99 ovr teams with the same fucking players with guys throwing 103 mph?? That's not fun sorry.
Exactly. I have friends that keep trying to get me into Diamond Dynasty and I don't care for all that extra crap. All the work to get all those cards. F that. It's too much like work. I just want to play through a regular season. Franchise is plenty for me.
@@siskodefiant4275 I miss actually having to play with lesser players. I miss trades and drafting. I miss going through the playoffs. So much more fun and rewarding. Madden sucks too but at least they have online franchise. Ultimate team killed all sports games.
I’d say: Season 1 was fucking awful. The worst part of Season 1: Chap 3 TA. It took FOREVER to grind that. They eventually added a goal to make that easier, but, that was horrible. Season 2: Really fun, i got started a but late because i was so burned out by Season 1, but, they really hooked me back in at the Break with all that content. Season 3 has been okay.
I want a 9 inning casual mode online that doesn't count towards my record where I can use whatever cards I want. I want this mode to count towards xp and parallel progress. I want a 9 inning online mode where I don't have to try hard but improve on the game. Right now it takes like 5 mins or longer to get into a casual game. I'd like to relax and play people online and maybe play a game where I just sit on outside pitches and practice hitting the ball the other way the whole game. Practice mode is fine but not the same as having a randomized opponent with the lag you'll encounter in ranked. Also would be more inclined to use random Pitchers opposed to trying to have a top 5 god squad pitcher each game
@@wilsonknight4715 I've played 30 ranked games and the overwhelming majority are quits...I've played prob 10 casual and they tend to last longer. I disagree tho, currently casual does not provide any xp path progress nor does it help with parallels. If they allowed you to parallel players you like and get xp path progress I think it would be a solid mode...maybe it gets exploited by people connecting with friends or something. Events are quit fest, plus they're 3 innings. You can't really learn your opponents tendencies that quick especially when pitchers are switched out every inning.
“ i want to be able to do nothing and still get the same rewards as if i won” i get were your coming from but it’s not gonna happen straight up like this
I accumulate about 500k stubs every season, no problem paying stubs for players, but when my "perfect perfect" is out while other guys "just late" is a home run, there is no point of playing online. Gameplay is just horrible ever since devs lazy update, and skill does not matter in this game anymore, that is what made me lose interest.
What bothered me as a casual player with a family, they put the Bosses so far out there, Season 1/2, i never actually reached them. That was extremely disappointing as now i'm facing hall of fame chipper/griffey every game. I get rewarding the hard core guys but that XP was just too much.
I just want good presentation back. Presentation hasn't been good since MLB 14. The Show isn't good at simulating Baseball, or the personality of it anymore.
Mlb has more legends then any other sport and yet there is such a small fraction that we’re getting 2 Paul O’Neils in back to back weeks, that’s my biggest issue, is it’s fun to collect and use all these unique guys and maybe even discover some lost legends like with the negro league, but the variety is just not there
It was the most obvious fall off ever. Right when they revealed the “seasons” gimmick, I knew the game was going to be terrible. First time I skipped on buying it in almost 10 years. I don’t know who thought it was a good idea to implement “99 cards from the jump then you can’t use them a month later!”. Honestly braindead from them
I've been playing since the show 12. I am a franchise mode player. Things have to change. It's beyond stale. People complain Madden never changes. The show is sadly on par with it. I am done until changes are made
Dude I've been playing since mlb the show 09. Since I was a kid. The OGs are almost always franchise players, me as well, and it's so dn frustrating how neglected the mode is every year. It's the same thing every single year. Awards don't make sense, player progression doesn't make sense, it's the same graphics and features for the last 5 years... there's so many things that could be added that would make the mode feel new and fun but they don't do it. All they care about is making money now
So all this boils down to is, Ultimate Team modes suck by design. The entire game mode is designed to be a grind to slowly unlock better players over the course of a year hidden behind thinly veiled "challenges". And the complaints seem to be "don't make it top easy to get 99s but don't make it too hard". Why is there a grind at all? They should just give you the card to use on your team for that week. Like he's a Hank Aaron legend card, have fun playing some moments of his career and using him on your team. Next week it'll be someone else etc. Players who want to complete all the challenges will do so anyway, if the content is good. More casual players who don't have time to grind all the content and challenges etc, they don't have to but still get to enjoy the cards.
I still haven't pulled Shohei, Judge, Tatis, Witt etc. I've completed everything they've released. Thousands of packs.. But not once have I pulled a 90 or above Live player. Two days ago, I finally got Mookie from a Chase pack. The math makes no sense. I've tried messaging them over and over bc *something* is broken. But of course, they never responded.
I’m an offline player and I really enjoy my Franchise, I play on Legend difficulty and it hitting feels satisfying most of the time. Sometimes I get pop ups on good timing and placement which is frustrating. Might be the difficulty I play on. But what really frustrates me is when I simulate my pitching outings, most of the time, I got about 9 runs against in one inning for about 30% of the time. Even on top 3 pitching teams. That really kills the joy when you score about 5 runs a game
I agree, simulated pitching is so unrealistic. I have to quick manage games that I want to simulate. Part of the issue is this community, everyone only cares about Diamond dynasty and only complain about that when the whole game has issues. Guys like us may not see a fix to these things for a really long time. I’m hoping being next gen only really pushes them to put effort in the game.
I also only play franchise but I play on the second to hardest mode since this is my first mlb game I have played since I was a kid. I would tell you to switch the computer batting down a notch but when I sim my pitchers never get hit. I’m playing as the cubs and even guys like Assad and Ben brown have a 2 ERA. It’s frustrating. My team is like 75 and 32 and it just doesn’t feel realistic for the talent on my team.
I played for just about 2 months, then quit. The cards being mainly in the shop, losing all but one card from the previous season and the lack of programs in general just made me lose interest. Felt like they didn't give a damn about the player base just their wallets.
And people keep buying it. That's the problem. As long as suckers continue to fall for the obvious scam, MLB Show games will continue to be made with zero effort to make them different from the previous installments.
@@1977TA @FC25-n3p You guys are right. We need to boycott games like The Show and Madden. It's the only choice we have when these games have no competition. They hold all of the cards and make as good or bad as a game as they want.
This has been the standard practice for sports game franchises since the days of the C64. They just release the same game every year with updated rosters, and the only real improvement is when a new generation of console comes out and there is a significant improvement in the visual and physics aspects of them. And that's been the standard practice for every one of them to this day. The only real changes you've seen in any of the franchises was when each of them at various points decided competitive online play and microtransaction reliant "ultimate team" modes is what they wanted to focus on and they abandoned even attempting to improve the other aspects of the game. They keep those modes and aspects in the games because they know that's why people buy them, but they are only there to keep drawing in the loyal fanbase hoping they'll eventually convert those people to go for the micro-transaction scam their game is actually designed to be.
We didn’t even need a 1 week to figure out how bad this game was gonna be, let alone 5 months. Eradicate sets and seasons now!!! There are no other options, I think a lot of people are feeling the same way. We can just play endgame mlb24 instead with no seasons anymore.
Wouldn't it be rad if MLB 2K were still around, if only for the sake of giving these guys some much-needed competition? It's pathetic how all three "major" US sports (football, baseball, basketball) are monopolized on the video game front (Madden, NBA 2K, MLB: The Show). Remember when once upon a time we actually had options?
Been saying this since May/June and mostly have gotten hate for it (especially on The Show's Reddit, talk about bootlicking...) sets and seasons DO NOT WORK for a yearly sports game title. Games that do the whole "restart your progress" thing and succeed at it are not games that have an annual release. There is absolutely no point in playing a yearly sports game that resets your team three or four times during the year. It's a major turn off for the majority of people that don't have all day to play the game. For those of us with jobs, lives, etc. having our progress reset after every two months is not fun. Period.
They lost me back in '21 when the whole "ballplayer" fiasco started and threw Road to the Show under the development bus. No more having as many different players as I wanted, all the tie-ins to having to play Diamond Dynasty in order to get decent gear to advance your RTTS guy, BAH! Garbage. I bought '21 and stopped playing it after about 20 hours- this was always all about SDS reducing the number of modes they had to juggle and work on releasing in their multi-year cycle of MLB The Show. I don't think I will ever purchase it again at this rate, a pretty sad state of affairs. Just playing OOTP now to get my Baseball fix.
There should be absolutely no way they put MLB the show on ps4 so they can make it to its full potential. Graphics wise and just overall. It has to be only on new consoles it’s over for ps4 and the older Xbox.
@@generallee1699 EA just proved with CFB 25 (it's only available for this generation of consoles) that you can make a ton of money while developing a game for the "new" consoles, which are years old at this point. There's absolutely no reason to make this game for the older generation of consoles anymore.
@@generallee1699unfortunately I made the mistake of getting the 24 game on PS4 and it's awful. Just awful. Graphics are stuttery and slow and it's honestly borderline malpractice that they released the game for PS4. I feel like I got scammed tbh
I think that Card Collecting modes are kind of wearing thin for me. Grinding the same thing over, year after year. They seemed to try something new, but in reality, it was still the same stuff. I have no desire to play next year. Usually, I play the mode almost year round. College Football returning is a back breaker for me going forward.
I don’t play diamond dynasty and never have. I grew up playing sports video games before online gaming got huge so Ive never gotten into the idea of buying a sports video game and playing what is essentially a card collecting fantasy baseball mode. But that’s all they care about now and even then it seems like DD players are getting burned out. Sports games as a whole started to die once opening packs of virtual cards that expire every year became the main feature.
As a gamer who doesn't play online, I would appreciate a fully customizable Franchise mode similar to NHL. It's nice to use your own custom teams but I'd like to see more customization where you can decide how many teams are in your league, how many divisions, etc... There are already custom leagues for online play so I can't imagine it would be that big of an overhaul. Maybe I'm in the minority since a lot of gamers seem to love playing Diamond Dynasty with the whole card collecting.
See I never played online or hut or whatever it is called. So the stubs and stuff don't even mean shit to me. It's sad that all the sports games have gone with strict online focus.
For real. I’ve always been a specially single player career mode, or franchise guy in all sports games since the early 2000s. I feel like I’ve been left behind by these companies cause they’d rather manipulate little kids to spend their parents money on overpriced worthless things.
Honest question. How is a baseball sim supposed to change that much from year to year? Community shifted in all sports games to being obsessed with DD and UT and it has completely killed the offline modes
Quit playing early in S2. As a casual, offline only player w/ limited gaming time, seasons, set's, daily XP limits, offline content and/or programs that end w/ seasons (they may have fixed this), the same monotonous/tedious program missions, etc.... I'm obviously not the target audience for the mode. And since most the content isn't of my liking (IE Showdowns and Mini-seasons) there's very little incentive to play because of the season, set, card limits. Pretty sad really. Game's basically "free" to play on Xbox and I have no desire to re-install it.
Imagine a world, where there are no in game transactions, no yearly game release if there are no new features and yearly free updates on the roster and new kits for sports games. AND especially letting an older console generation finally die…it’s a joke! We could have a way better looking game by now.
I stopped playing completely days before whichever Team Affinity released with the actually dope figure looking player cards. I really hope they can improve the game to where it once was. All star game content is always the best time of the year but they have to find a way to implement those cards and players into the game sooner in some way. I’m sure their think tank can come up with something. Overall, I don’t think they will. They will improve pack odds by a tiny bit & make more players available via programs; as in with adding players only found in store packs showing up once near the end of the program. Honestly it all depends on what their final net revenue numbers are showing them. Games like Madden & co. have been getting meh reviews and trashed online for years and years yet they still keep making more and more money. If SDS sees they made significantly less than previous years, then we’ll see changes. If not, then don’t get your hopes up. 🤞🏼🤞🏼
I think DD sucks. 3 innings isn't enough for me to score without hitting homers. Also sucks offline as too hard to score. I prefer franchise but ai teams refuse to accept dudes over 35 on team, although they would in real life. Developers try to make these games more realistic, end up making them less realistic. Also audio unlocks for homeruns cost too much. That's what I'm most interested in. I shouldn't have to be logged onto internet to earn points to purchase audio.
Your point on “team affinity/chemistry” at 16:20 is right on. I’ve been saying the same thing - Madden does a great job incentivizing players to build different theme teams & MLB made that pointless. Not only does SDS need to have each player get the “team chemistry” of each team they played for, but they also need to allow players to customize the boosts provided when you build a team of 10, 15, 20, or 25 players from one team. This would create more diverse teams & give players a more fun way to build their squads. Great point, and I hope SDS listens.
Season Awards were stupid and tedious. The effort to get to 50 for crap cards. It's been repetitive all season. And yes packs sucked. I still haven't done the last 2 programs yet, what's the hurry. I've been playing NCAA 25 to have something to do.
It's broken af. I've had box scores show up blank schedules glitch and show nothing. My first hits have shown other peoples names it glitches during pitches and freezes. MLB the show is dying just look at MLB 12 vs MLB 24 look at everything they took away from franchise it really sucks
23 Was Way more rewarding as far as packs. It felt like the more effort you put in, the more you got. The thing I hate most about 24 is that they won’t let you buy diamond Nike or Jordan equipment in the marketplace and if there’s a way to earn that equipment, they never tell you how.
What's wild is i was playing mlb 06 on my phone and there's so much recycled from it to this day. Play by play and animations are still used 18 years later.
Dude the menus for 24 look like they weren't finished. Like the devs were asked to come up with a few concepts for what they might want the menus to kook like and they just actually used one of the concepts I could've made a better looking menu by myself and I've never done any game dev
How much more can a baseball game improve. In terms of gameplay its almost flawless. I think the problem is we get the same players every year and same programs. Sds should make an effort in getting new players that r not currently in the game bonds alomar bo arod ect… thats the only way it can make it exciting for 2025!
No it’s the terrible rental sets and seasons plus playing a “next gen” game that looks like a ps3 game. This game w sets and seasons is a 2/10 complete failure.
We need more variety in content. The same players get released over and over. As an Astros fan, every year the good Astros cards are biggio, bagwell, Richard, Oswalt, and if they feel like giving them to us Ryan and Wagner. Every collection, every team affinity is always those guys. Then sometimes we'll have a guy who is on the team currently, but almost never guys who used to play for us. It's exhausting.
I agree with your point about having your players eligible for any team/franchise they've played for. I want to see Reggie Jackson and Rod Carew and Nolan Ryan and Chili Davis all playing for the Angels without having to collect 40 live series Angels (I JUST got Trout a few days ago). The only other Nolan Ryan card I had collected before completing the collect of Angels was an Astros OOP Outfielder. I think the OOP concept is cool, but can I get a card where Konerko is playing for the Dodgers and isn't limited to his OOP card positions? Can I get an Arenado card for the Rockies where he isn't pitching or that I don't have to sit through 100 games of BR or Events before I can earn it? When you talked about fielding, can Gold and Diamond fielders NOT make the idiotic plays, like dropping routine flyballs or missing foul pop-ups. Durability scores mean nothing when your pitcher takes a 107 MPH exit velocity liner off the schnoz, picks up the ball, and throws a strike to first to get Trea Turner for a ground out, then finishes a no-hitter when another screamer bounces off his dome to the SS who completes a double play. The "legends" are becoming more and more of the guys who just recently left the game and less and less of the "old guys" that this game was built to remind you of and allowed you to compare your heroes of the past with the guys that there is little to no film on: Ty Cobb, Ted Williams, Jimmie Foxx, Christy Mathewson, Walter Johnson, Lefty Grove... all gone? Still more players that don't want to be in the game or aren't allowed to be in the game, nobody is sure which it is? Bo Jackson was a great football AND Baseball player. If EA isn't making a baseball game, SDS should be able to approach him and offer him a deal IMO. As for stadium creator, we need more dedicated memory for the stadiums, or items that require less memory and are more practical. We don't need two versions of the same building, one with graffiti and one without. How about a dozen or two random cars and trucks that people would have driven for different eras. Maybe a '57 Chevy-looking vehicle for the 60s era stadium builds, for instance. Props like picnic tables that have fans sitting at them, canoes with people kneeling or paddling, vendors dressed like vendors to work behind the counters of shops or carts so that mom doesn't have to bring her 6-yr-old daughter to work the beer stand and the two kids who stole your newspaper on Sunday aren't working the steakhouse on Friday night. It would also be cool if the generic fans in the stands could instantly be switched to the era of your ballpark just by selecting the year of the stadium, but that's a pipe-dream. I really liked the unlockables packs that contained the uniforms for all five division teams in the same pack. Something that has always ticked me off is how much you have to do to earn basic stuff like uniforms and stadiums at the beginning of the game. Earning them as a group is cool. The old ball parks should be earned similarly. More of those would be nice as well. Ebbett's Field, The L.A. Coliseum, Older Anaheim Stadium (pre-Disney), The Astrodome, Candlestick Park, Olympic Stadium... some of them still exist, others were leveled for parking, others should have been a long time ago, but they all held baseball. Rather than giving us pre-built stadiums with dinosaurs or UFOs, why not bring back some old relics of the past where some of us watched our first games, took dates, or even played a few times. These are just a few changes I'd like to see. I agree that there are too many cards for the same players with similar attributes, or attributes that are dumbed-down in some areas for HR Derby so they can boost their power without making a first-round departure a 99 overall, but if Shohei has 90+ speed in his live series card, he shouldn't have to drop to 80 speed when his power rises over 100 for his HR Derby card. It's the same guy. He either has it or he doesn't.
I’m torn because as someone who plays mainly multiplayer sets and seasons make ranked fair compared to events where it seems almost impossible to get a win if you don’t have certain cards. I think they just need more game modes so people don’t feel like they’re wasting cards and give xp progress for everything even playing friends.
I played 21, 22, and 23 from the day they came out till the day the next game was released. I quit playing 24 a few weeks before NCAA came out. They really screwed up this year. Hopefully next year they realize their mistakes and fix them…I don’t think they will. This game has BY FAR the best “ultimate team” type mode. Now they are just trying to make it another 2k and Madden.
Also what really pissed me off about the game being so bad this year is how the cubs have been such a heavy focus in programs and packs. I’d put out a cubs theme team every game.
All the microtransactions need to go. Holding content hostage is great to generate profit for companies but is a short virtual endorphine boost for us. I no longer use real money. No way no ROI
Being a perfectionist I need rosters and ratings accurate as possible. Once the last roster update comes out I will then finally play the game. I just gotta wait to buy it. Played about 4 hours since March.
Never been a serious online player. Only did moments and some conquest. Miss the early franchise modes. Creating a stadium is cool, but I get more immersion as a GM playing NBA2k. The fact that they've given us the same franchise now, besides the "new" scouting and draft model, is infuriating. I used to play multiple seasons of franchise, for this edition I barely got through May. The fact that they had a different FA model in March to October yet the same as always made me give up. The path that MLB The Show has taken is eerily similar to any of the recent Nascar video games. The presentation level used to be good, even if it got repetitive, more immersion with career modes, etc. It purely felt like to me that it is made for online play, and even this year, they crapped on that too.
SDS thinks that everyone has 2-3 hours to put in the game every day, then play 5-6 hours every weekend. Nobody REALLY wants to spend their weekends grinding out the show ONLY for them to say “ayyyy we can’t let you use these cards in 4 days, 12 hours, but continue trying to grind for parallels and upgrades” Nothing made me more sad than not being able to use all my P5 cards from season 1 in the middle of the damn summer.
Is any sports game any different? Why do we expect or hope for change? They are all yearly releases with updates that could’ve simply been an update of the current game. It’s a bullshit strategy that makes a ton of money. Don’t start thinking because it isn’t 2K or Madden that MLB will change for the players benefit 💰
I wish Pro Yakyū Spirits was localized, and also became a little popular. That would put a fire under SDS' ass, and the game would likely improve... There's plenty from this series that they could learn from
Ngl I haven't bought 24 yet and I don't plan to. It's literally the exact same as 23 just with different diamond dynasty cards. If I'm doing RTTS/franchise then I'll just download a new updated roster.
I played a PS3 versioin, I think it was 12 or 13.. I could not believe all we lost. They literally said screw Franchise because all the suckers started spending online. You ruined it, so this is what you get.
NBA 2k, Fifa, MLB, NFL been recycled over and over for years. Basically games have been the same only adding some cosmetic changes. I haven't bought any of these games for the last 3 years cuz it ain't worth it. Problem will be solved if y'all stop shoving your money into these greedy companies. And stop the BS with IT'S THE ONLY GAME on the market. Find different game that you'll enjoy. I love basketball but I ain't stupid enough to spend $500 on a game that last a year.
I'm done giving my money to MLB the Show greedy corp executives who don't even play their own games, developers lazy pack content and the same ole shitty graphics year after year.
You finally caught on they're selling the same game. I'm a franchise mode fan, and I see the same old dried up franchise mode. Baseball is a game rich in statistics that allows to compare different eras. The franchise mode fails spectacularly in connecting the different eras statically speaking. For example, if I batted 400 in a season is the franchise mode going to mention or make note of this achievement. If I won 30 games with a pitcher are they going mention the last 30 game winner? Has the show ever heard of a stat called ops+? Don't just give me the league leaders for that given season compare it to the greats. Tell me who records I beat. Its not that difficult go to baseball reference you will get all the information you need there.
I just hate the fact that I grind and get cards only for the season to end and not be able to use those cards anymore. It's pointless to keep playing, you never get to play with the cards for very long. Make it to where you can use any card whenever and have less programs. There's just too much going on
I can't believe its 2024 and we are still doing the whole yearly sports game thing. Its the main reason I didnt play 23 and just now started playing 24 since its on PS Plus. Either drop the price or release the $70 game every other year.
I bought the $100 version early release and manage to work the market to complete the live series collection plus an extra 1.2 million stubs by re selling jerseys with in the first 4 weeks. Then i realized that i would not complete the XP program because there was nothing else to do in the game and they were about to end season 1 in a couple weeks and i would lose all the cards i was trying to get. I told myself i was never going to buy this game again and waste my free time and energy on a game where they basically delete your progress every other month. So I am personally one of those accounts with over a million stubs who quit 4 weeks in.
Online ranked mode needs a better punishment system for rage quitters.... I have 60% of my matches end in rage quits, which ruins the experience and wastes so much time when you spend 30 minutes playing 4 innings just for someone to quit when you take the lead or are winning by a few runs
I wish they would let you make 2 lineups for offline in manage team. You should be able to make a rhp and a lhp lineup so when you play conquest etc it automatically uses the right lineup for a right handed or left handed pitcher. There are a few players that are only hit good against one side
I think we’ve just grown out of it. I’m 23 now and used to absolutely grind The Show every year. But now I don’t have the time or energy to spend countless hours to get cards and I’m definitely not spending money on packs
The thought of grinding any more TA, Conquest, or Moments truly haunts my dreams. Just the same cycle over, and over, and over, and over. There are so many great games out there and such little time to play them. I would rather play games that respect my time.
I only started playing this year around June 10th. Now watching this it sounds like I got in right before the peak and got out right after. It felt like they were giving 99s out like candy. There was all the late season rewards and team affinity programs I could do, then right after grinding this season 2 came out. Free all star packs, free draft packs, programs for more of those packs. Happy with your like 7 free draft and all start packs? Buy 1 more of each for 5k stubs. Then buy three more of each for 20k stubs. Now you can even buy 3 more at regular price. It kind of fizzled out in mid July. I did all the season 1 programs, I got most of the good cards from the all star programs, and it just didn’t feel as rewarding grinding for other 99s when I already had a teami was happy with.
The offline dynasty mode pissed me off for a lot of reasons but most of all you have to play 162 games. I don’t understand why you can’t have an option for shorter seasons. My son and me try to grind out a season, we played about 100 games sofar, I played about 30 games, he played about 50 and we played about 20 games together. A ton of hours put in and we still have like 60 games or so left. Just an insane grind.
I agree 100%. I honestly haven't clicked on mlb since college football came out. So it's been months and I don't miss it. I'm a die hard baseball fan but the game really lost me this year. And that makes me sad. I, like you, spent hours upon hours in franchise over the years and would eat, sleep, and breathe mlb the show. Hopefully I will get back there one day. But until then I'll continue to be hooked on recruiting and winning national championships! Great video.
Casual MLB player here and strict NMS. First time buying the game in a few years… quit shortly after season 2 started. Team resetting with the new season coupled with the fact that the game is HARD in any online mode did it for me. Might try again next year depending how frustrating madden is around next years launch.
Since MLB 17 I use to play this game from release to next release daily. But 24, quit back in June. Seems like whoever took over in 24 has no idea what they are doing when it comes to DD. No coincidence you don't see Ramone and the old crew anymore like you use to with previous games. The gameplay is great in 24, probably the best, but DD is the worst.
You’re doing something completely wrong when your game is dead before the playoffs even begin. This is the time MLB The Show should be at its peak and not at its end

I’m not sick of the game but I am sick of the same old grind and losing cards I have earned. I’ll come back for Finest, but I have been pretty unhappy this year with what I am getting for what I paid.

Road to the show is so terrible. I hit 150 home runs and broke every season hitting record, and they still only wanted me to sign for the minimum. After that, I never booted the game up again. What’s the point?
Ikr you finally finish a few seasons of putting up the most ridiculous stats and winning WS you get no money lol

There's an old baseball manager sim from the early 90s that lets you manage games between a bunch of the all-time greats. Wish I could remember what it was called.
If it weren't for these card collection modes we would be able to get classic teams. Only NBA 2K has classic teams in the game.
It's been a disappointing season to say the least. I only play a couple games so it really is unfortunate when the one of few games you do play just falls off a cliff

2 things
1) as an avid OOP supporter in the past, i am really mad at how poorly they executed, they just took the lazy way out and make most postition players pitchers and vice versa, it’s shoulda just been outfielders getting infield positions, starters getting closer, not this extreme
2) i’ve been hooked on 2k recently and it made me realize how terrible mlb the show is, 2k appeals the every generation of basketball fan, the casual “old heads” get to use the eras feature and play their very nice franchise mode, the young kids who just want to play my career with their friends in the park, and the middle guys who want to build up a team from their favorite child hood players and current players in myteam, mlb the show has 1 “good” mode and they make little to no changes to the others so when DD dies, the ENTIRE game dies, every year with 2k i stop playing mycareer, and then towards the end of the cycle i play myteam, mlb doesn’t have that

Love this comment.
This would just be a quit fest. If there is nothing to play for then people wont play.
“ i want to be able to do nothing and still get the same rewards as if i won” i get were your coming from but it’s not gonna happen straight up like this
your first statement they have in the game already
I accumulate about 500k stubs every season, no problem paying stubs for players, but when my "perfect perfect" is out while other guys "just late" is a home run, there is no point of playing online. Gameplay is just horrible ever since devs lazy update, and skill does not matter in this game anymore, that is what made me lose interest.
The whole card thing is stupid in my opinion. Why can't we just play teams and build with any player we want. We pay enough for the damn game.
What bothered me as a casual player with a family, they put the Bosses so far out there, Season 1/2, i never actually reached them. That was extremely disappointing as now i'm facing hall of fame chipper/griffey every game. I get rewarding the hard core guys but that XP was just too much.
Sets and seasons are killing the game. Idk how SDS doesnt realize that
I just want good presentation back.
I never pulled a good card & the couple times I did it was someone I had already
Show is over. MLB the show must change. every year same game.
Everything in America is monopolized or cartelized. One big company town.
They do it because LOTS of people are still on old gens and it makes them money.
They are a business, they aren't gonna stop making money.
Atleast faze out the switch
@@TheYurpman you missed my point didn't you?
They make money off of the old gens still and just like EA and 2k, they love them some money.
Hopefully more please agree with you. Ultimate team modes have killed sports games.
I stop playing after sets and season 2 it’s worse
Bring back MLB21 mode
I don’t play diamond dynasty and never have. I grew up playing sports video games before online gaming got huge so Ive never gotten into the idea of buying a sports video game and playing what is essentially a card collecting fantasy baseball mode. But that’s all they care about now and even then it seems like DD players are getting burned out.
Sports games as a whole started to die once opening packs of virtual cards that expire every year became the main feature.
franchise mode also always starts with default rosters which is infuriating
That’s why I always download custom rosters for whenever I play RTTS or Franchise
First year since 21 that I stopped playing early. Haven’t played DD since like May
Quit playing early in S2.
A great model would be the EASHL mode from the NHL series. Imagine if you could play games with you and your friends' road to the show characters!
Yo that will so crazy and fun for real 💯
🤞🏼🤞🏼
MLB the show needs competition bring back competition to sports video games
The strike outs with season awards pitchers when they only reason 2 in packs was ridiculous
Jesus that fake radio voice is grating. Had to stop the video at 1:19.
Dude I swearrrrrrrr. Me too
Dude the menus for 24 look like they weren't finished.
They desperately need new game modes for reward. Mini tournaments, 6 inning games, multiple events every week
I had to call out one day because I had stayed up all night playing OG road to the show. Sad to see that the franchise has plateaued.
Nobody REALLY wants to spend their weekends grinding out the show ONLY for them to say “ayyyy we can’t let you use these cards in 4 days, 12 hours, but continue trying to grind for parallels and upgrades”
Nothing made me more sad than not being able to use all my P5 cards from season 1 in the middle of the damn summer.
Where tf are you getting $500? Sounds like ur just broke
I'm done giving my money to MLB the Show greedy corp executives who don't even play their own games, developers lazy pack content and the same ole shitty graphics year after year.
Bring back MLB Power pros! No micro-transactions, immersive career mode, more customization
So much more can be added to this game beyond diamond dynasty. The other modes are extremely shallow for a $70 purchase.
I bought this game every 3 years and it's been the same since the beginning. They need to update the presentation
This is the second time my game was data corrupted losing all my progress and had to restart the season all over again
Sounds like any other sports genre or game company (EA, 2k). Why is this surprising to anyone?
The bs thing is that for all of season 2, anytime i got a diamond or 99 ovr it was a season 1 card. Same with the start of season 3.
I quit playing after I realized I grinded my create a player only to realize that you couldn’t use him in RTTS. Haven’t played since.
