Aren't they just remarkable ? I can't go a day without listening to them ... thanks for this reaction. Love a man who is not afraid to show his emotions !
You needn’t apologize for getting emotional. Many of us have been there. I’m sure glad you found your wife and she helped you become the man you are today. I love what you represent: down home, friendly, and overall a great person with heart! You definitely are a Home Fry! This is a stunningly, beautiful cover. I’ve always been partial to the Rascal Flatt’s cover (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band had the original, which I didn’t know until the guy’s posted it on Patreon). If they would ever cover Mercy Me’s “Homeside”, I’d be a basket case. The first time I heard that song, I was in a bad way. I was in my car and I heard that song for the first time. I actually broke down and cried my eyes out in the car. I really wish they would cover either that one or “I Can Only Imagine”, which I also love!
The power of music. I am really grateful that you met, recognized and treasure your soul mate. You should set her down in your arms, have her wear the headphones and play this version for her. I just love HF. They are so amusing and have so much fun in their light-hearted videos. But when they perform a moving/ serious song they make you pay attention to every word and every emotion. Just beautiful.
Kevin I think you might like this video just a little bit. Lol. I absolutely love it and love it more and more each time I listen to it. I listened to Rascal Flatts and heard some things taken from theirs and Home Free incorporated it in theirs. They do it with every song and I live that about them
Our failures forge our successes, whether that's romantically or in other areas of life. I love this song because it recognizes and embraces those heartaches as being the things that shaped and prepared us for where we are now. Home Free's cover is pure perfection, every last bit of it, though I have a special fondness for Adam's heartbeat sound and that double bass drop at the end.
Love your reaction! Another winner by Home Free! These guys don't need any props or theatrics just their beautiful voices to harmonize. Rob & Austin in their tenor voices, Tim & Chance carrying the bass, and then Adam adds the finishing touches with his tasteful beatboxing.
No apologies necessary. Home Free can make you laugh, or make you cry, but they always deliver technical expertise. Also, I'm a Home Fry, as well as a member of the Nightwish Army. Huh? Who knew an old geezer like me would like both ends of the musical spectrum? =-)
Did you realize that this song was first released in 1994 by The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, then Rascal Flatts and this amazing cover. Watching your reaction was so sweet and heartfelt, thank you.
Fellow Home Fry here who also took a few roads before finding my way. The double bass from Tim and Chance is just beautiful and lends an awesome atmosphere for the tenors, Austin and Rob to soar above. Then Adam's heartbeat percussion is just the perfect accent
Now this was an awesome heartfelt reaction! Thank you...I really enjoyed it! You need to watch this with your wife and tell her exactly what you just told us! I'm so glad you're back with Hone Free...ymiss! been missed!.
I’m so happy for you that you found your wife. It’s a beautiful song with beautiful lyrics. The video is good too. Home Free’s harmonies are superb. Loved Rob and Austin’s runs. Loved Tim and Chance’s bass and Adam’s heartbeat in the beginning. Good heartfelt reaction Hillbilly!
We're here for you friend. So many of us went down that broken road and some of us didn't but then due to circumstances it ended up broken in the end. Super emotional song. Super beautiful with their special talents and voices! Just a peaceful gentle video with incredible harmonies, solos! You take care. Blessings and yes, Amen!
Don't ever apologize for your emotions - they're what make us human. If break-up songs are difficult for you though, I'll warn you about watching Home Free's video of Austin's original song about a hard break-up of his "Love Me Like That" or his original "If I Met You Now" (on his channel). It might help to know that since then he's found a new love in his lady Amberly and they seem a perfect match "along the broken road".
Just found your channel today,- and having binge watched your reactions to Nightwish and also having noticed your remarks on the abillity of Floor Jansen to sing in what to her being Dutch of course is a foreign language,- English,- I felt like enlightening you about a few points on being European in this modern day and age. Keep in mind that Europe is a region of the world consisting of around 45 different countries,- not different states in the same country - but separate countries all with their own unique cultures and languages having formed over the millenneae passed since the fall of the Roman Empire. That means that just about all Europeans speak at least two languages,- their native language and English since we´re all taught English from a very young age in school. Most speak an additional one or two languages which will very often be those of their closest neighbouring countries or of the largest and most influential countries in their region. So speaking an avarage of three to four different languages isn´t uncommon. An exception to this rule would be the French,- 99% of the French population doesn´t speak English,- the 1% that claims it does,- doesn´t either! :) Myself being a Scandinavian I of course speak my own native language,- on top of this I also speak both of the languages of my neighbouring Scandinavian countries as well as English, German and a bit of French. So that would total something like five and a quarter languages and is not all that uncommon. Being an inbred Scandinavian metalhead country ballads isn´t the kind of music I spend most of my time listening to,- that being said,- all of the different genres of the American music scene is not unknown to us. Since the end of WWII we have been exposed to just about every kind of American music there is,- so y´all aren´t unknown to us,- and that includes the music of the peoples down home,- be it Country, Bluegrass or Delta Blues we´ve heard it all. Even though I´m a metalhead I´m also a lover of traditional folk music so personally when speaking of American styles of music I have a soft spot for Dark Country, Bluegrass, dusty electric and acoustic Blues, Stoner, Doom, Sludge, Southern Rock and Southern Metal just for starters,- so cultural exchange via the wonders of the interweb is in many ways a Godsend. Though a band like Nightwish normally would be referred to as symphonic metal they could be argued to be part of a larger style that would encompass the entirety of the European metal genres: Operatic Symphonic Progressive Melodic Contemporary Euro-Folk Metal,- and yes,- it´s a thing. Currently the most popular genre of metal in Europe, South America and the Far East,- it´s just in the northern Americas and in Canada that the mainstream only now is learning about it´s existence,- though it´s been part of the underground on the campuses for years. The genre´s been under development since the late 60s / early 70s but it really got up to speed in the mid 90s when the Grunge movement slowly died. For musicians in Europe this vacuum meant that instead of trying to form international careers playing some watered down version of what was essentially American styles of music people instead looked to our own back catalogue to see what we ourselves could bring to the table. What we rediscovered was tribal rites that could be put to music ( since we had the original instruments preserved) , 800 years of written down folk music and church music and 400 years of classical compositions and classical compositional techniques,- all ready to be reinvented, reinterpreted and mixed with metal to become the new European style of metal music. This means that the style branches out into several different combinations of metal depending of undercurrent of tonality and inspiration,- i.e.: Operatic Metal, Symphonic Metal, Operatic Symphonic Metal, Folk Metal,- as in Nordic Vikingr Metal, Celtic Metal, Balkan metal, Latin Metal( Spanish/Italian) etc.,- and also Gothic Metal, Gothic Folk and so on. All imaginable combinations,- all expressed as individual sub-genres of the meta- style of European Metal. I see from one of your Nightwish reactions that Gabriel of the Nightwish Army has given you his Nightwish playlist,- and it´s absolutely recommended,- thank you btw. for pronouncing Wacken correctly. If you´d like to go down the rabbit hole of this to you new kind of music,- here´s an alternative playlist. It will contain metal and traditional folk in different combinations and languages to give you an impression of the diversity of this meta-genre.
