I took a painful loss on Saturday, June 29 due to rain! It was raining sideways!! We made the best of it.. gave away all of the cooked food to the other venders who were trapped in their tents lol With all the smiles.. and people doing the best they could.. it was a good day. Made some friends.
Way to turn a bad event into a happy one!
... really appreciate you 'always' telling the truth ! It's so important for brand new people or those thinking about it to understand the good, the bad. the ugly, the terrific etc - That said, I'm truly sorry about what happened : (
The business isn’t always great. And new people may not understand how hard it truly is
Some days you get the bear. Some days the bear gets you.
That's awful! Nature has killed many events in our area due to monsoons. Missing the 4th for vendors is like cancelling Christmas! Hope you can recover some of the loss.
@@bigshowradio_550 yeah, we will make it up. Just sucks when it happens
Sorry to hear this man. That's why I'm so glad I have a permanent location with 2 walls and a roof over my head. Rain can affect my business, but it's never totally horrible. Plus my hustling days are over, so I'm not so concerned anymore. Maybe you'll have a big week! (things are seasonally slowing down for me right now, after a smok'in spring)
❤❤❤ 🕊️
Mike, Sorry about your loss but I know you'll recover! I wanted to ask about your A-1 sweet machine. I have seen other vendors say that it was too small. I guess it has served you well. Have you always been able to keep up with demand with the smaller machine?
That machine is the best piece of equipment I’ve ever owned. Out of all the equipment I’ve bought through the years. Still going strong! It’s definitely a smaller unit. We have had no issues with it keeping up with demand whatsoever. I can’t recommend it enough! If you decide to get one let me know! I’ll talk to the owner and see if we can get you a discount!
@@foodtofinancialfreedom8562 Okay thanks I have followed Greg Sweet for years. Sad he passed away. I just never got into this side of the business.
We got lucky in central KY. Rain didnt hit till end of rush and just before fireworks. tonight it’s to be hit or miss. 🙏🏻
Where in KY are you? We are in Mercer Cty
Everyone has bad events and sometimes they are the biggest events.
It definitely happens!
Running a Hog operation for 30 years I know all too well the damage mother nature can do. Power goes out , generator won't start on auto in the middle of the night and there we go, 2000 nursery pigs dead because there's no ventilation in a total confinement. Then there's the snow, Texas panhandle snow is nothing to fool with , get a 12 inch snow with 50 mph winds, employees can't get to work for two days, truck loads of corn and soybean meal needs to come in daily. NOPE!, Mother nature says everybody takes a break except for the 20,000 head of animals that don't stop eating and having newborn piglets. It can be absolutely horrible.
Ooooo. weeee … That’s a heck of losses right there buddy
Hey,you win some ,you lose some ..thats life : )
@@justanotherperson9529 You’re right! That’s life and business! It’s definitely not easy money.
I loose money every day just about it but I keep going hoping for a break
Hang in there!
You know you've made it when you start tossing food out. That shit would have ended up in my freezer, for dog food if nothing else. Sorry bout the bad luck, man.
@@mithall4198 Xactly. Our dogs, and goat, get all the hot dogs and pulled pork we don’t sell as we won’t resell it. They probably pray we have a bad day 🤣
What kinds of specific foods do you lose? My idea of concessions is that they are mostly frozen or prepped on demand?
@@guyranting Hamburgers, hotdogs, sausages, grilled chicken etc etc etc
@@foodtofinancialfreedom8562 Is there a homeless shelter you can at least donate to ?
@@foodtofinancialfreedom8562 A local food pantry or Homeless shelter would probably love that! And u get lil write off.
I was wondering what you threw out also. I would freeze what I could to make other foods later even if it’s for the family or a big meal for all your employees at the end of the season
