Honestly, the duct tape holding back the mortar and not leaking was the real shocker
It gets used all the time in cement patching.
The duct tape was the real MVP. I thought it was gonna leak when it was on its side
The first one could be repurposed into a fountain. Have a pump come up through the center hole and the water would pour off the 4 channels have something catch that water and guide it back to the area you have your pump at
Damn, I’m going to make this and use it as a post topper. Also, I totally expected the duct tape to fail. I also want to make a concrete planter large enough to catch the water runoff my roof with a copper chain down spout. So many activities. I get so many great ideas from this channel.
I make concrete benches and bird baths. Sometime I may a little concrete left over so I put the mud into those plastic clam shells you get the grocery store bakery. If you look at he package of cookies and muffins or pies ? the plastic has designs in the box. I use them to set pots on top of them. But I am sure it would look cool as post top if you find rigtht one. . Now that I am thinking about it. I could put a pice of pipe in ther to make a hole for solar lights to set in.
When you got to the bakery section at your grocery store they have clam shell trays and things like that for cookies, muffins etc. If I have a little bit left over I put the mud in thee. They make nice looking bases for house plants. micheal forgot the wd 40
I’m from uk and I been watch little time now and I really love what you do as it make me think and give me good ideas Keep up the beautiful work
This is great! For some reason I find concrete very intimidating, but there are quite a few things that I want to make with it. One of these days I'll have to rip off the bandaid and give it a try
Nice idea with dowels and screws. Nice doing it again upside down and Nice names you made for your feather and fury friends : )
Everybody wants to be a comic!!!😊
That turned out really cool, would have been cool painted like your shamrock too. Love the out of the box thinking!
Great, now I'm gonna have to cast a concrete brick to sand my concrete projects!
How about making a bird BATH out of concrete?
A specialized glue is needed for plastics and those still don’t always work well. I learned that to "glue" plastic to plastic, one must solder it with plastic. For a crack, you align & press the edges together, melt the plastic with a small soldering tool, hold it together while the plastic cools. For added strength, use more plastic to melt along the seam. I’ve used zip ties. Even stronger is laying a line of baking soda (or most any kind of powder I suspect) & then saturate it with super glue. It’s harder to keep the repair looking good and less conspicuous. But it’s going to hold the repair much better.
IDK how well this will work for sticking plastic to a different material. It may be ok for wood because it’s porous. But Michael’s fail may have been a stroke of luck. I think screwing into the dowels gave it a lot more strength causing less stress on the tape and that’s why the tape held so well.
So cool my friend!!! The squirrel seems to really love it too 😂😂
I was looking at the cheap snow sleds in the grocery store thinking they would make great bird bath toppers.
Would you show how you would go about making a custom pedestal for the feeder, a table top, or even as legs for a larger project?
I was going to mention adding a concrete/mortar pedestal too. It'd make a great stand alone bird feeder or a bird bath with some type of pump system.
Just wondering if a two part silicone mold would have worked for this. But turned out nice
Bravo! Loved the bird and squirrel footage.
Cool feeder.
Michael's Wife, trying to get ready for company come in over for a party: Michael, have you seen my divided serving trays? I'm looking all over for them... I can't seem to find my large picture as well.
Michael: 🙀🙈🙉🙊🤫
Great build. Love how you have names got many of your feathered and furry friends. The one you don’t know, I think is a common crackle. If so you could call him crack.
It’s grackle, my friend. (: But I’d still call him Crack.
Great video! Love Eeyore 😂
Good job.
Man, that was great ♥️
I need some big landscaping rocks for my flower garden. I'm gonna make them from concrete/cement/mortar mix and chicken wire and lots of newspaper or maybe saran wrap. I still need to figure that part out.
Have you seen Kanello Rocks channel,? You there and get ideas. Some great water features there too.
Nice work Michael, but PLEASE, get yourself some decent push sticks! You need to protect your hands and fingers just as much as you do your ear!
Nicely done Michael! That concrete bird/squirrel feeder turned out great! 👍👍🐿🐿
Mmmmm. Forbidden milkshake.
Just put the seeds on the ground, they dont mind LOL. Wouldnt it have been easier to just use mold release and put the concrete into the serving tray and let it set up that way? Turned out nice though
I’m guessing he didn’t use it because any that got on the outside would have prevented the tape from sticking. It worked out probably because the plastic was slick & not very porous.
I love watching you experiment! ❤
Good to see you Michael! I loved this project
Crazy cool.
Another awesome video Mr. Builds! I love you! xoxo
Love your videos.
@MichaelBuilds Could you do a commentary video on one of these @life-art cement art videos? I would love to better understand the materials or mixtures used or recommended. On my island we only have Quikrete mixture bags or cement.
Could you make a video of useing cement all with flow control as a concrete leveler if it's possible
Cool.
Hey you can add the flow control to the dry concrete. It is pretty cool. It makes it loose and powdery.
But does it set up well doing the dry pour method?
@@AstiJay there would be no point using flow control on dry pour. It is used to help the mix obsorb the water evenly. You get clumps because the concrete doesn't take water evenly. It also allows you to drastically reduce the amount of water needed. That leads to a stronger concrete.
@@jameshorrocks2939 got it. Since it’s mixed in dry my mind went to dry pour.
@@AstiJay the dry pour is neat. Honestly I see it as more of a gimmick. It takes more work to get right, and it isn't any stronger in the long term.
@@jameshorrocks2939 with a different POV it’s not so gimmicky. I’m a gal in her later 60’s and there’s no way I can handle mixing & pouring wet cement. A dry pour is doable.
It sure is annoying how long replies show up in my feed - if at all. I just saw it today. Geesh.
Could you try pigment powder in dry concrete!?
The birds will still make a mess. The ones that come to the feeder scatter seed for the ground feeders.
What difference in useing the morter mix in counter top in stead of concrete
Now do the same as before, but with epoxy 😅
Heeeeyyyy! Michael!!!!😊❤
I need wing tips for my earbuds sadly because I sweat a lot.
Can you color the rapid set to white
Poor bluejay... keeps looking for its father...
I don’t think the birds will criticize the molding
this dude loves himself sooooooo much
@13:03 Anyone know what kind of bird that is on the left? We have a couple of them we see in our yard a lot.
Nice❤ 📽video📽 and🐦 bird🐦 feeder🥣
You have got to be kidding me, for I have had the same problem here in my own backyard. Those birds are "chicken scratching" the tray of seeds to make a total mess. If the birds like our feeding them, they could pick up the debris, couldn't they? Okay, I will try your build with Rapid Set Mortar Mix (One of my favorite products from Rapid set) but where did you get the chip and dip tray?
Target?

Are you Yankees allowed to use the H word? Scott, from Kentucky. Home to the original Hillbillies! 😂
they are making a mess because you are feeding them trash! Buy some decent birdseed!
