- Join me on a captivating journey as I delve into the fascinating imagery of Adak, Alaska, a far away town like no other. Nestled in the Aleutian Islands, Adak carries an intriguing legacy that draws inquisitive souls from all over the world. Full disclosure: Adak is not a ghost town, but ALMOST. In this immersive video, I venture deep into the heart of Adak, uncovering its mysterious corners and capturing the eerie desolate beauty that has reclaimed this once-thriving military base. Buckle up as I navigate the forgotten streets, crumbling buildings, and haunting landscapes, bringing to life the stories of those who once called Adak home.
From its humble beginnings as a strategic outpost during World War II to its eventual abandonment, Adak tells a tale of resilience, isolation, and the relentless forces of nature. As I explore the dilapidated structures, you'll feel an eerie sense of nostalgia and gain a deeper appreciation for the people who lived and worked in this harsh and unforgiving environment.
The captivating beauty of Adak isn't limited to its abandoned structures. My other Adak videos take to awe-inspiring natural landscapes, including rugged coastlines, majestic mountains, and picturesque vistas. Adak's untouched wilderness provides a stark contrast to its decaying urban landscape, and I'll showcase its haunting allure in vivid detail.
Whether you're a history enthusiast, an urban explorer, or simply intrigued by the eerie allure of ghost towns, this video will leave you spellbound. Get ready to embark on a virtual journey to Adak, Alaska, and immerse yourself in a world where the echoes of the past linger and the untamed wilderness holds secrets untold.

Wow 🤩 I was Stationed there 395 days and I Never had a day that Looked like that With All That Sunshine 🌞 !!! While I was there The Sun 🌞 only Shined One ☝️ Day !!!! And Captain 👨✈️ Brown NSGA called Sunshine 🌞 Liberty and We all got the rest of the day off of Work !!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸☝️🤪🪨🙈👋
Lived there in the 80's and its so sad to see this beautiful place has changed so much
A hung-over couple awaken to find themselves not only in a strange house, but in a deserted town, where nothing is as it should be. You just crossed over into the Twilight Zone
Yeah and to think I thought it looked like a wasteland when I lived there and it was operational.
I was Stationed NSGA 80-81. 395 days !! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🤔👀
I used to live here in the early 90s when I was a kid, so it’s cool to be able to see it again in video!
I would love to see what it looked like in the 70s-90s and even earlier. Unfortunately there's very little material that shows day to day life in Adak back then.
Hey 👋 There SERGEY !!! How U been 😀🇺🇸
WOW 🤩 I just had to Watch again !!! Amazing 😻 I’ll have to give it a 5 Star ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Rating 😃 I never 👎 Saw a day like that While I was Stationed on her 🇺🇸🇺🇸 395 days Total !! Sun 🌞 Shined One ☝️ day 👨✈️😜🤔🌞👎☢️☢️👀👻👻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Oh boy especially after living there little over 42 years ago and Watching This fine Video after a Medical 🏥 Cannabis joint 💨🙈🤣👋👀🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸👈🤷🙋 It’s so good 😊 !!!!! I luv the Soundtrack-Music 🎶🎶
Looks like a beautiful sunny day. Incredible landscapes. There is something magical about this place. If I could travel back to 1988 I would love to make a stop here.
So sad to see things in this shape, very sad !!
The architecture used here is super interesting. I’ve never really seen anything quite like it in the lower 48.
Agreed, an impressive mixture of Scandinavian colors, barrack modularity, continental American spaciousness and more. Great interior floor plans too.
Was that an actual evergreen tree at 5:09?.
And I see cars driving around, where do they buy gas? So interesting to see, thanks for the video
That tree remains since all the Adak residents got Christmas trees as gifts from the city one year. After Christmas that year most of the trees were thrown away but a few were planted and surprisingly a few are still alive.
You can buy gas, there is one station, gas tanks being barged to Adak for the cars and more importantly for the boats
There was actually a small group of fenced in evergreen trees, called the Adak forest when I was stationed there in 1973.
Wow! The chapel at 2:15 was on the list of historical places. It's plain to see that the funding for its upkeep was spent elsewhere. By watching this video I can see that the current residents have spent very little on maintaining the infrastructure. In another 10 years there won't be anything left. What a shame!
Lived there from 90-92. Weird place
damn sure was 😆
Great video!! This was my first duty station with the Navy in 1973. Thanks so much
Thank you for watching, glad you liked it. 1973 seems a long time ago, but I'm sure some of your memories are as clear as today
i could see the house i stayed in 07. thanks for awesome footage
What happened 2 make it a ghost town
Military base was relocated back to the continent in the 90s
Slick Willie and the BRAC shut it down.
🤣😂😅
What happened? looks like the homes are modern, and empty too, what going on with this place? TH
This was an army base and got relocated in the 90s. It has been for the most part an abandoned ghost town since then, with the exception of a few dozens of people who still call Adak home.
US NAVY BASE-Not Army
🤪🙃😎

@@MitchellBrown-su9dc You are correct, of course, Mitch! RUclips doesn’t let me edit the message anymore
I was stationed there in 1986 at the Branch Clinic my oldest son was born there, he's 38 now. I loved it there, it was very peaceful hunting, fishing and hiking the tundra. I've always missed it and hope to visit someday. Nothing but Fond memories of my time spent there.
Thanks for sharing, sounds like you have quite a few memories from Adak! Didn't know one could give birth on the island, for some reason I thought expecting moms were being shipped to the big land for that.
Half the floor was basically Med/Surg and the other half was labor and delivery. As a hospital corpsman it was some of the best training I ever received. We rotated through the different departments of the clinic when on watch/ overnight duty, We were trained as EMTs, Lab, pharmacy, x-ray etc. Thank God for the training, my ex wife went into labor and everything progressed faster than we planned by the time the Dr got there in nick of time baby was crowning and 5 minutes later I was holding a healthy baby boy 🙂 Its a wonderful video, Thank You... I Still miss the island to this day.
Earth is amazing
Isn't it?
