I knew this could be done in some or other way. And here it is. Thank you so much for the video!!!
Hi if u tried it and if you have brought these things please tell me from where I can buy these things
This worked PERFECTLY today with my Sony ZV-E10 and my Galaxy S23+ using an Elgato Cam Link USB stick to display the video out right on to my phone. The app that you show in the video doesn't seem to exist any more, but I just grabbed another USB video display app from the Play Store. We did a video shoot last week and I was so frustrated I couldn't tell what was in focus and what wasn't. This will solve that so fast! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Hi, did you notice if there's any lag in the signal?
will this work with iphone?
Really great to see this! Also i'm glad that it has so many views. It seems like more creative content like this could get featured on YT rather than the all the paid /sponsored content that doesn't look for simple/ creative solutions first. Congrats!
grrr.cant fine this EXACT APP> I had that when someone point a VIDEO....says look for a spafic APP and google PLAY changes the NAME or DESIGN OF THE APP.
Saved my life, I have a Nikon D3500 and my vision sucks, this is what I needed. You got a new fan and subscriber.
I do satellite TV installations and have long thought it would be handy to be able to use my phone a monitor for a satellite TV receiver. This for situations when a customer does not yet have a tv in the room where they want a receiver which actually is quite common with movers. Sounds like this might be just the ticket.
I work for a cable company and this is exactly why I'm here 😂
There are plugin HDMI transmitter and receiver if you want to get flexibilty of walking around with the phone.
woooow. i was looking for cheap external monitor but never think about using my phone as external monitor! great idea! thanks! 😘
yo, i cant believe the ammount of subs you got compared to the quality video you produce - i cant recall when anyone ever had such a great idea like that, i think this video will skyrocket aswell as your channel - cheers man!!!! +1 sub ;]
It's because it's my idea!
Just picked up one of the cables and capture cards and for the 15 USD including next day shipping i'm definitely happy with the results. Just need to pick up a few more of these capture cards now and see what else I can use them for!
I have that video capture card. It may do well for this purpose, but with raw YUV, it really gets bottlenecked by the USB 2.0 connection. The MJPEG option used most commonly also has stuttering problems when there's so much motion - it saturated my USB bandwidth trying to record a high-action video game. If you need something less...laggy, look for a USB3.0 capture card.
could you recommend something? I'm wanting to use this for playing games at work in the car? (I like to play ark on my lunch break, and I hate having to move my seat every time to accommodate the laptop, lol)
Ahh I found this again. Trying to search mostly just comes up with videos about obvious wifi connection. I have the adaptor so just need to try it out now
does it work with shooting videos with the camera?
you just saved me a tonne of money. thanks!
Is there not a way or an app to do it with straight with a USB-C to HDMI cable?
No, because you need the chipset from the hdmi video capture card to convert the signal and work properly
Brilliant Hack, this is what RUclips is for! Well done.
Great tutorial! I found this HDMi device and a couple of useful cables lying around. I tried connecting it to my camera Panasonic Lumix G7 and it actually works! Now i just need to find a phone holder. Thanks alot.
But i think endoscope HD only saves video without audio. Or maybe i didnt set it up properly.
I know the g7 stop sending hdmi signal when recording, does that happen when you try to record with the phone attached?
Thank you for this set up I have a drag race to live stream in may and this will help alot with my chest mounted camera stabilizer

Thank You SOOOO Much Sir!!
This will hopefully help me to obtain a sharper focus. I'm tired of missing the mark due to bad eyes. My SL1, I can not rely on the lcd display, nor the viewfinder, for sharp, crisp images due to my issues. This just may be the solution.
I have found everything you listed. (3.0) and about to purchase them!!
Thank You Sir :)
Thanks for sharing.👍
I'm a still shooter and I needed a front facing monitor. I was just going to use the native app to see captures on my phone but this might be a better solution for me. Thanks!
can be connect an Android phone to a satellite receiver , where the phone acts as and you dont need a tV for tuning
im using my canon 6d for astrophotography on A SKY WATCHER az gti mount and there is no flip screen on the camera so this is going to help me a lot
Raspberry pi hq camera + this seems like a good option
That's one of the thing I was thinking about. There's millions of great quality display screens out there just waiting to be recycled and if you can open that converter and mount it on the board, you'd have something for cheap.
I used a USB device like this called Cam Link, between my ag-dvx200 camcorder. It worked. I'm still didlily around with it
I'll give more feedback later.
I tried this, i have a Sony CX405 handycam, when i conect the camera with the HDMI video capture to my pc it works fine, but when i conect it to the usb a to usb c adapter and then to my phone, the app i use on phone doesnt show the capture the right way, it appears all grey and like you can see that is trying to get the capture but it never makes it. the cable that i use to connect the hdmi capture card to my phone is new so i dont think that could be a problem.
Underrated video. Break the algorithm!
Incredible. Thanks for sharing. I find the setup perfect and applaud you for creating this detailed video. I am very interested in recording this incoming signal and wanted to ask - do you still recommend this Endoscope app? Any other solutions?
Nice! Thanks for sharing this! Now I wish my phone could record the 4k 10bit 422 output lol
I tried this setup and it works nicely but my issue is, it is not plug and play. I have to insert a flash drive first on the OTG cable then plug to the capture card before it can recognise the output from the HD Video card. Is there a way to automatically recognise the output from the capture card.
My smartphone is a Samsung Galaxy S9
Thanks for this solution. I have to do the same too.
Could I do this but plugged into a TV and screen record on phone to capture what's on the TV?
How do I get ride of the the white square box?
Just curious about latency. Also what capture devices have you tested? This is very interesting
Hi, is it possible to tell me what equipment to buy for vloging but the cheapest way please. Thx.
Will this mathod effect the Croma sampling and bit depth of video?
I bought everything in the video except one detail - I noticed the Capture card i purchased is a USB 3.0. I am using a Note 20 Ultra and I am having issues with the phone recognizing the Video Camera. Not sure where I'm going wrong.
How about the 30 minutes time laps recording period? Their is possible that it prolong the time of dslr camera using android phone?need your help please🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
did you found the solution yet?
If I use a video recording card with typ-c connection it will work the same way (no OTG adapter)?
I mean typc recording card plugged to the phone and hdmi cable from the recording card to my sony
I've never tried it myself, should work I guess
Does anybody know where can I get the piece that connects the Phone Clamp to the Top Handle. Thanks in advance
How about Nikon D3100? Will it works before I shopping HDMI Video Capture, OTG USB 2.0 and mini HDMI to HDMI cable?
I tried something similar with hdmi to hdmi cable + video capture + lightning to usb 3 camera adapter, i tried to connect my Canon r7 with iphone 12 pro, but it showed error that accessory such a usb 3 adapter need more power, so i plugged in charger and it doesnt show error anymore, but still doesnt show view from camera, i used blackmagic camera and CamX app, aby ideas ? Maybe iphone 12 pro is too old?
I'm a total beginner to video. Thank you for this!
whats the difference between connecting the camera to the phone directly via OTG cable (micro usb to UBC) and connecting via hdmi cable using capture card?
Your the second guy that i’ve seen make a video only for android. Still looking for an iOS tutorial
My panasonic lumix do it over Wifi/BT connection! The quality is not the same for sure! But its a good beginer combination! And of course i have no latency full control over the settings! IDK maybe other companies do the same! Try it.
Tried it with my phone, a Samsung a54 and my tablet, a Samsung tab s6 lite. Both did not work. Are they usb 2.0 and is usb 3.0 required.
my camera does not have an hdmi of sny sort, what should i do?, I only have a mini usb a round video out and a smaller round thing in the middle, I am using an older canon rebel xs
Could I use this with my Rapberry PI 4B so my Android is the monitor? It has (micro) hdmi out x 2 and several usb 2 and 3 ports
is the setup for live streaming camera and phone using your phone monitor and internet connection?
CAN I use my ps4 instead of the camera????
Do you know why i cant download the android 10 version ?im install the app and click for download for androind 10 but nothing happened ... Or do you have apk that support android 10 ?
Can I connect Canon xa50 video camera to smartphone in this prosses
all control (focus) stay in camera or change in smartphone sir?
Have you found a way to keep the phone charging during this setup? I've I've found a way for my camera to be charged which is with a dummy battery
Endoscope HD worked for me but when I recorded the output was sped up, perhaps a ntsc/pal issue. I have yet to investigate the file off my phone.
interesting, i didn't experiment much with the recording. What camera were you recording from?
This is really neat but has anyone found any cable clamp yo hold the USB cord securely in place on the phone? Like a camera HDMI cable clamp?
Freakin genius! I’ve got an old tablet knocking around. Will give it a go with that. Can’t use my phone as I use it with my parrot teleprompter
Can we attach intel PC stick for display in mobile?
Hey!! Soo many doubts sir!!! I've got a hdmi elgato but it works only on 3.0 and sadly otg that I own its an 2.0. Was thinking to buy an otg 3.0 but i didnt found it with the normal android female charguer hole, just found it with usb C so.... Wich way could i go, should I buy your capture with 2.0 using my 2.0 otg cable? Wich should be the proper way to use my ElGato camlink. Congrats for the video, very very usefull!!!!! And thnks a lot.
im thinking a Atem mini as a output monitor
could you please tell me how long the hdmi cable was? i don't want to get too long of a long one but i'm not sure what should be the minimum
It was just a random one I had kicking about, probably 1 meter. Shorter would be better but its not hard to bundle it up neat-ish
@@NEONAIRSHIP got it, thank you so much!
Fabulous, thank you Sir! I was poking around with the assumption SOMEONE would have come out with a simple cable to go from camera to phone/tablet. But nope. At least not that all of us could find. I am wondering though, as you say even this solution has some latency, how much more it is than the wifi solution already available with Lumix cameras? You do mention this comparison quickly. But as the larger monitor is of most value when setting up a shot, framing, and for checking focus, the latency may not be as big a deal as I can look at the small screen while shooting. All good options, though, thanks!
Wonderfull, it actually works! I can now very comfortably take videos with my Huawei P40 Pro in all sorts of awkward positions with the help of a selfie stick while seeing what I'm recording on my Pixel 3a. Thanks for this great advice.
I guess i can do that with a desktop computer as the primary screen.. you saved me a lot of money since i don't have room to install my external monitor. Fingers crossed the capture card will work !
At first i was gonna buy a cheap lcd screen, make a cutout in my computer case, bolt it down etc.. but it's disgusting, great we have solutions.. else i'd have had to create a script that automatically starts broadcasting the video on wifi and catch it on my phone, but i'm sure i'd have had to change the setup every use.. superb video
Wow! I have a GH5 and been struggling with the small flip screen and too broke to buy a proper monitor. Funny thing is I have all the things required on your setup just gathering dust on my cupboard. haha automatic subscribe!
Jittery movement/Latency": Your video is just what I was looking for as I try to setup my Galaxy Note 8 Android phone to monitor my Panasonic GH3 on the new Weebill-S gimbal. I already had cables, a new 4K Cam Link capture unit and Samsung's own OTG adapter that came with the camera, so I thought I would be all set. The problem is that when I monitor the camera on the phone the view is very jittery with bad latency and would be unusable. I am testing with the Endoscope app that you suggested with the intention of buying a paid version if it worked well. Do you have any thoughts on why this latency would be happening? Could it be the app itself or some settings that I might be missing on either the phone or the camera? Any tips would be greatly appreciated as this seemed like a great solution for use with my new gimbal that is arriving tomorrow. Thanks for sharing these great tips with the RUclips community!
Thank you so much 😁❤️❤️❤️❤️
A better capture card will have less latency? if yes can you recommend one for me?
I ordered the cables using your links and it works! I just ran into one issue. The screen does not stay on continuously and switches of after about a minute. Did anyone else run into this problem? I tried this on a Samsung galaxy note9! Thnx!
i'd imagine it's something to do with your phone's power saving settings, worth having a play with those!
I found it! It was actually a display setting on my canon m50. Thnx for the support!
Hi, I'm trying this with a note 9 but it's not working. Is there something specific I need to do? Which app are you using? Thanks!
Awesome video and idea. I'm on android and this app isn't available any longer. any other suggestions?
Camerafi works really well!
Cannot figure that out with my sony a6300 and Redmi phone. OTG is enabled but OTG Camera keeps showing only solid black screen. When I change Data format to "YUY2" from MJEG I've got mostly glitches, green screen and 8 FPS
@NEON AIRSHIP What you're demonstrating here may just save me. I think I heard you mention that this can work with a phone that doesn't have USB-C, is that correct? I have a Samsung Galaxy 6 which has a mini usb port. Will you please let me know what I need to accomplish what you have done except on my phone? If I have to I will upgrade phones but I was hoping to use the one I have. I also have an IPhone S6 but I know you mentioned you haven't tried on Apple devices. Thank you so much for sharing this.
fyi my use case for your hack is for an Ordo Head Cam which I want to stream from. The phone broadcasts wifi which you can connect to with a phone, but then I lose my internet connection and can't stream. It has a micro HDMI output so I am hoping to feed the video to my phone and stream from it. Thanks a lot. I hope it works on my Samsung Galaxy 6. I just order an HDMI Capture Card HDMI to USB 2.0, Micro USB 2.0 OTG Adapter, and a Micro HDMI to HDMI chord. Am I missing anything? Thanks again.
fantatic - going to try it on an android tablet that spare for my atem mini pro monitor system
Does the phone monitor screen go black when you press record on the camera?
How do you fix "No Space Left on Device UVC Error"?
Thank you sir this will help me alot because my lumix g6 lcd is busted
Do you need the hdmi capture device if they make an HDMI to USB- C cord?
Is there a benefit to using the HMDI Video Capture vs just doing the usbc straight from camera usbc port?
I have used this method on many jobs and it works beautifully. To your question though, some cameras don’t seem to allow video signals via their usb port. Other cameras that can, would require their proprietary app which may be outdated, discontinued, requires purchasing, etc. whereas every camera has an hdmi port and third party apps (at least for Android ecosystems) are numerous.
Thank you for posting this video 🎥🍿🍺🇺🇸👍. You have a new subscriber 🎉. Keep up the great 👍 work 🎉.
Hey thanks for this. Did exactly guiding your instruction. Also did the purchase from your links to support your channel. Subscribed too.
Hello. Thank you for this video ! Is the latency due to the phone or the capture card? The latency is too much for use, so I would like to know if a higher end card or phone would reduce the latency to near zero. Thankyou.
Probably mostly the capture card but hard to say
@@NEONAIRSHIP Thankyou for replying. It's such handy idea, because the video monitors are so heavy and require large batteries. This way makes it possible to keep very light and work in a more ad-hoc way.
I will try it out because i have this cheap one and also a expensive one
My cameras micro hdmi port is broken . Do you think this will work with the cameras micro usb port? I have a canon m50
The idea that you can use a phone as a monitor is actually so big brain - I may be wasting tons of time tweaking an edit that won't be noticeable on such a device.
for bmpcc 4k work?
i DO NOT LIKE to stick cameras where the sun dont shine sir HOW DAAAAAARE YOU!!!
is there any diference on using an hdmi to 2.0usb to a 3.0usb on this kind of setup?
I have a Canon 70D and a Samsung Galaxy S22+ and cannot find the right app to work. I have the cables but no dice. Any help would be appreciated
What?
Just managed to get my Tab S6 to act as monitor for my Xperia 1 V.
Thanks mister!
It can be real time display?
I'm going to fix my Nexus 5 phone (replace battery) and then do this adapter setup for a monitor. Thank you.
Is it possible to use HDMI to micro USB C cable without the middle part
Will this work if you want to live stream from your phones cellular data but used the Dslr for your visuals?
does it accept other audio input like the audio jack in the phone or is it just the HDMI source? I really want to know if we can use the phone as an easy mixer for the cameras that don't have an audio in jack
I love the fact that in every new version of Android now they just remove or break existing features (call recording, video capture etc). What a time to be alive.
So doesn't it work anymore or was it already in the android but then got removed?
@@myavkat5954 grrr. cant find this EXACT APP....I tried to make up the little ICON in your video. but the ICON for andoscoop HD cam looked totally different
Sir, can we use this method to use phone as secondary monitor while color grading videos?
Yep!
This setup can be used for streaming aswell
Do you know which is the state of the art app tu use for livestreaming the hdmi-captured video to youtube, instagram and facebook? One time payment would be perfect - I do not like continuous payments for apps... (CameraFi live does the job, but for 1080p you have to pay monthly... so that´s a no go for me).
hi, does this app also capture audio? i want to use my phone (tablet) as screen for PS4
My monitor will take a while to get replaced, till then can I use this method to use my phone as my monitor for my PC, as parents are for not allowing me to flag my PC to the TV?
Great sollution and video👍
The preview Monitor idea is great, too. In my case i have only one HDMI out on my laptop. Any idea, how to connect it?
Thanks again from germany✌️
Not sure what you have planned but if you need an additional output from your laptop there are some usb adapters and hubs that will add an extra Hdmi out
@@NEONAIRSHIP ok, thanks you very much👍
works fine with live view... but can't preview videos, please help me withit...
My camera lcd doesn't turn on, can I use this as an external monitor to replace my inbuilt LCD.
