Ok that's confusing do is the lowest note so you'd obviously think the low side of the pond is the do. I've just been doing it upside down this entire time.

OHHH it’s using fixed do instead of movable do! I guess that makes sense considering we’re not given a key, I just guessed they’d make it as simple as possible for kids by making F do. But that might be my French Horn ‘knows f major like the back of my hand’ brain talking. Thanks for the video!

Sooo whys the music still sad after it told me to go back to tadpole ponds and I got peach and mallow said we should go ask my grandpa and I went back to tadpole ponds and the music was still sad???

You’re supposed to give him the cricket pie, you can get it from the item shop in Mushroom Kingdom. It’s the reason why Mallow was even in the Mushroom Kingdom.

By the way, is this like an updated version of Mario RPG for a different console? I have the original one on SNES, and I've been playing it again after not playing it for I don't know, since it first came out.
And I could never figure this puzzle out, not when I was a kid, still can't lol so I looked up the cheats for it online, and this website showed the Frogfucius 18th Melody, or whatever it's called (which is the one that the tadpole tells you about), as well as one that I think is from the coal mining level, and then another one from somewhere else... Anyway, I tried all three of them and they didn't work.
This website has the cheats set up similar to guitar tab diagrams, so I know exactly on which lines to arrange the tadpoles on, and the first one, the 18th melody or #18 melody, whatever it's called, I did that one like three times in a row, and the first two times the guy said it was wrong, and then the third time he said it sounds a lot like something he has created before, but this wasn't it... And again, I was visually looking at these diagrams so I know for a fact I had arranged the tadpoles exactly where they're supposed to be, and none of them worked.
And I can tell that they were correct because after Mario jumps off of the last tadpole and the replay happens where you hear the tones of each one, all of the correct notes that the tadpoles were sitting at, they go underwater and disappear. The incorrect ones stay above water, and each time I did each of these melodies, including the very first one that the tadpole tells you about, all of the tadpoles on the scale went below water and there weren't any incorrect notes/tadpoles remaining above the surface...
I'm going to try this again by watching/studying your video :)
Also, thank you for posting this. I'm sure you had to put some work in, because me even trying to do this while looking at cheat images online, it's still been a pain in the neck lol
