This Q7 is supposed to be the more rounded and friendly looking one? I can't imagine how the design concepts look like😬

11:12 For such and big powerful vehicle that is not bad at all, that's really good! Some 1.9 TDIs use that much fuel.

My favorite Q7 is definitely the first generation. The design of the exterior, interior, the powertrains, I just prefer, especially the better availability of a V8 diesel.

Agreed the first generation still seems very desirable 👍

On paper its the best 3rd row SUV. Good gas mileage, fast can tow 7000 lbs, very practical interior

If I was in a market where the Land Cruiser was available I would definitely go for that. But here in Europe we get the least reliable most expensive to maintain cars as always.

I hear you as someone who's drinking the Toyota Highlander hybrid cool aid here in the USA at 190k miles and no issues and 26Mpg. However the Land Cruiser is still a big barge, double the price to get a nice one vs a 2017 q7 and gas milage is a lot worse (I know most folks in the US don't give jack shite about MPG but it ads up for the long trips we do). In a parallel universe where I'm not such a thrifty bastard I'd buy a Land Cruiser over a q7 but will probably upgrade my reliable Highlander for a less reliable q7 with adaptive chassis package.

@@JacanaProductionsI can't remember exactly but I think I meant the Land Cruiser Prado or the Land Cruiser 300. With the diesel engines they get between 20 MPG (300 with 300hp 3.3L V6) and 24-26 MPG (150 with 200hp 2.8L I4) in real world driving and are very rugged. Of course in the US you only have the big gas engines and they are quite different vehicles as they're body on frame but yeah, for you probably not the right vehicles.

I've driven one of these extensively so here's my take if you're lucky enough to be in the market for one of these:
    The good:
Power is fantastic and can sail up to 230kmh on the autobahn without any fuss; the 55TFSI is very very fast for a 2 tonne SUV. The matrix LED headlights in the 2021 car I drove were borderline magical, I loved them.
    The bad:
One big thing to consider is the throttle lag (in the 55 TFSI, can't speak for other models but ive read its on all of them). The lag is sometimes around 2-3 seconds. Makes the car feel lethargic. Turning start/stop off doesn't fix it either because its not just from a standstill that this occurs, its when you're driving along too, a very odd feeling of waiting for the power to arrive. And the ride isn't good if you get larger wheels. 21inch on the one I drove made the ride seriously choppy over imperfections in the road but deals with bigger bumps quite well. Infotainment feels like a prototype, always cutting out and rebooting. Took a lot of effort to drive generally, heavy steering, throttle delay, no adaptive cruise, I was glad to see the back of it after a road trip around Europe to be honest.
Servicing isn't cheap at Audi, who want £450+ for an oil change every 9000 miles. Still, this is good for used buyers as it means the car likely isn't on long life oil changes like the rest of the Audi range.
My Volvo V90 is better in almost every way other than not having a 3 litre engine. I'd go XC90 if you're in the market for one of these and don't care about engines. Also, in the Volvo you'll get adaptive cruise as standard, whereas on the Q7 its an expensive option which not many cars in the UK are fitted with. For me that's essential on a car that costs over £70k new.

Great feedback. Agreed on the larger wheels giving a choppy ride. Interesting note on the 55TFSI.
I've driven the 3.0TDI (45 TDI) and found it acceptable in throttle response for a TDI engine, not driven the Q7 55 TFSI but I have noted a few other TFSI engines had a similar lag to what you've described. I found the only way around it was to put the drive mode in custom and have the power in sport, but this made some models (a recent Audi A3 drive with the 1.5TFSI sticks to mind) feel overly sensitive 👍

Hello I drive Audis for very long time various models have passed from my hands mostly new. The lag mentioned above has been fixed and it was evident in the first models of q8 in 2019 and in first Q7s that had the 48v battery. I never owned any diesel Audi but from the petrol engines which I have experience I can tell you that the timing chain is a point of interest and ANY wise 2nd hand buyer should check thoroughly -take it to the dealer plug it and read the camshaft degrees etc. other than that if you keep the service at the dealer and by the book which I recommend for such complex cars you will not have any kind of issue whatsoever. Also don’t tune any Audi unless it had the 5cyl 2.5lt engine all others will make problems after a while. The services at the dealer are expensive indeed and in case you need to change break disks and suspension due to high km prepare for 4000 euros for breaks and depending on your suspension (eg if you have drc) can go from 5-6000 euros to 16000 on an rs6 . Remember if you CANT buy a car TWICE then that model isn’t for your pocket

I have just put 9400 miles in 5 months on a 2023 55 TFSI S line Quattro Tech Pack - I would describe it as very fast and phenomenal to own and drive with no issues whatsoever. There was no throttle lag in either D or S gearbox from new and was always quick off the mark. I would highly recommend an engine remap which I had at 7000 miles and it's now putting out 537 Ib/ft or 728 nm torque (from the original 370 Ib/ft or 500 nm torque) and it is now very very fast. The cabin is really quiet sat on 20 inch alloys and the B&O sound system is great. I could not live without the 360 camera now and regret not getting a panoramic sunroof as its quite dark inside.
