Yes! My mother increased her bone density in her late 70s by eating more keto style and taking mineral supplements including boron. It’s a terrible mistake by the medical community telling us that it’s not reversible. Kinda like how they say type 2 diabetes isn’t reversible. Yeah, it’s not if you follow conventional advice!

How do you reverse type 2

    • @annamartino5681

@@canadianbrotv1303Diabetes Type 2 is certainly reversible. You can watch multiple Endocrinology and other experts such as Dr Jason Young, William Li, Peter Attia, Andrew Huberman, Mindy Peltz, etc on Weight Loss. 10% of Weight Loss can definitely start reversing Diabetes Type 2 and daily physical activities instead of being on Insulin or Metformin (which you may want to work with Dietitian experts and Endocrinologist on Weight Loss which is not covered by MEDICARE for 65 + and Disabled thanks to how ACA changed the Healthcare system for the worse). Key is Healthy Diet and "Harvard Plate" and then Intermittent Fasting 18/6, 24, 48 every 3-7 days until you Lose Weight and get to Ideal Weight calculated as Height in cm minus Weight in kg should be equal to 100-112 depending on your bone width and body build. The reason why most patients don't get this advice and behavior monitoring by Endocrinology Weight Loss doctors is because MEDICARE insurance doesn't cover such programs. Your Intermittent Fasting has to definitely be slow but consistent, as if you were to do Fasting on Water only for 24-48 hours before the surgery. During Intermittent Fasting you may be only on Water with no other sweet drinks, and Mindy Peltz talks on numerous videos on how she is recommending to do just that.

So pleased to see the younger generation in the medical profession gradually coming around to thinking that supplements plus healthy food is better than prescriotion drugs. I had to smile at the image of the typical GP ( & the specialists) pen in hand scribbling away. I am in Europe, have very expensive & excellent private insurance. The best advice ever! Age 61, weight 58k. After feeling tired and low I set about a fix. Ordered many of the supplements you suggest ( all pure) from British Supplements. Gave up alcohol completely, reduced carbs to 100g per day. Cardio 30 mins most days. I already ate a high quality vegetarian diet (organic) I've put oily fish back in. I've stopped my levothyroxine and hrt. ( may review if necessary) seven weeks in and I feel better than I have in over a decade. It took 5 weeks to start feeling better. Keep up the good advice and thank you. Hoping to avoid the sticky plaster big pharma fix. Love your chanel.

I love Dr. Osborne's fluent explanations going into details and the type of tests he recommends and why! My girlfriend used to make fun of my "weak bones." I started reading the side effects of albuterol use and noticed that one of the side effects is in fact weak bones. Abuterol isn't the only asthma med that causes bone loss, either.
Recently I found that by supplementing extra magnesium in my diet, my asthma effects were reduced by about 90%.
I'm really mad that it took me the last 40 years and nearly dying a handful of times from it to find out that I have a better way to control my symptoms.
I've had to use my inhaler once in the last month since starting this.
Hopefully my bones will regain some of their strength, too.
Anyways, posting this for others to be aware of.

Great info, loved this. I'm Canadian and as Canadians we hear a lot of Americans, and others say how great our health care is. Only partially, you can TRY to get your doctor to run specific tests, but as a patient, we have no control over what the doctor wants to see. If you ask what the test request form says, you get treated like you're a pariah and finding a new doctor isn't an option for most people because most are overloaded with patients and will refuse to see you if you have an existing doctor. So, in most cases, going to the doctor is useless unless you want to follow them blindly and take pharmaceuticals. Now some people are going to say my doctor is not like that and good for you but this is extremely common here.

Yes, I visit doctors rarely and recently went in for a general check up cause I'm nearing 70. A new doctor, because mine has retiried. I felt like he was looking at my age rather than me, suggesting I have pap smears, mammograms, flu shots, etc. I just said, yeah, no. He didn't seem to have read my medical history which was mostly having a few sun spots removed. Maybe my dismissive manner didn't help, but rather than ask why I said no, he told me he was only trying to give me good advice.

    What an informative talk.
I had my first scan 14 years ago which showed some bone loss so I researched it and decided not take any drugs for it because of the side effects. My doctor was good about that also. He's retired and the doctor I'm seeing now (though I'll probably change) saw my 3rd and most recent scan, which showed continued loss, and recommended drugs saying the bone loss isn't reversible. Even if it continues, I'd rather have quality bones than dense, brittle bones. So glad I'm not on any other medications, preferring to go the natural route.

I like the way you explain this bone loss. My doctor in CA diagnosed me with osteoporosis. I've been taking Fosamax long, then had a break. When I moved to Oregon & with my new health plan & a new primary care doctor....my first visit exam & lab work I was still diagnosed of osteoporosis. The same Rx was given to me to continue & had been taken for 5 yrs,....now will have a break of 2 yrs. With your advice I will ask my new doctor what you're saying intracellular analysis. I will see what he's gonna say. I hope he would follow my request. I'm very much concern about my health to my age of 72 yrs old. I'm experiencing what you mentioned like tingling of legs, numbness, & soreness of joints/muscles, cramps. You might be right that I need some supplements necessary to supply my bone. Thank you doctor to open my eyes on this. May God guide you always...

Hi, I am a retired Respiratory Therapist with 20 plus years experience in ICU’s. I am 73, and I had compression fracture of 60% of my lumbars. Not fun, seriously changing my life. Taking Fozamax longer than 2 consecutive years is hard on kidneys, fozomax foed not build bone, but helps harden existing bone. My recovery is due to pain meds, Vit D 5000iu, K2, good quality Magnesium Glycinate, Vit A, and all the B vitamins. Hood diet, don’t smoke, and exercise as tolerated. Do not take calcium supplements, eat foods with calcium. If you supplement Calcium it will add to build up in your arteries/veins, increasing chances of strokes. If you can take testosterone supplement, it helps build new bone material. If you have fractures it’s very important. Hope it helps.

Wow! This video is LOADED with in-depth information. I will need to watch again and take notes to be able to compare to the bloodwork I've already had and to request what is missing from my Doc, who is most receptive. She started me on additional protein (not so much as stated here), D, K-2, & Omega 3 in my first visit, plus referred me to the most amazing physical therapist. My first and only bone density scan at 65 (now 67) indicated osteoporosis. Bloodwork had markers for AS and malabsorption of nutrients (I'd unintentionally lost a LOT of weight and height, but no doc paid much attention to that previously). Eventually learned that I had four different anti-biotic resistant bacteria living in me that we finally eradicated, but as you've pointed out, the cure can cause other problems.
I've adjusted my diet to address inflammation, so have eliminated as much as possible, wheat, most dairy, and, of course, sugar. Working on optimizing my gut health, badly debilitated by frequent antibiotic use over the decades with yummy ferments, homemade yogurt, etc.
So, how do you offset the negative impact of SSRIs? I'm currently on a low dose, but I think that once I get might gut in top condition, I'll be able to eliminate them.
What about OXALATES in foods like dried beans and spinach? Many other channels/sources go on about how they negate calcium absorption, so they should be avoided, though the preparation method of dried beans can remove a lot of it. My thought is that if you get enough calcium from other food sources, it shouldn't matter. Is my thinking wrong?

For those interested in exercise for bones, please refer to Prof Belinda Beck and the Liftmor trial that demonstrated that high intensity, high impact exercise is what is needed to improve bone density. Walking is a good general exercise but numerous studies have shown it has no impact on bone density (same with swimming and cycling). Just "lifting weights" might not necessarily be enough either. It's supposed to be weight that equates to 80% of your best single max rate, so you need progressive loading. Impact exercise and weight exercise can pose risks for osteoporotic people, so supervision, starting slowly and progressive overload is needed.

I've been in good shape my whole life with a healthy lifestyle - regular exercise and healthy diet, etc. I'm also hypersensitive to meds and avoid them as much as possible. In your osteo journey, have you come across the role of exercise in building bone density? The Liftmor trial conducted by Prof Belinda Beck in Australia demonstrated the benefit of high intensity, high impact exercise. General exercise does not build bone, although has general health benefits, but bone requires impact and stress to be stimulated to "grow". There is a great need for caution, supervision by a qualified person to help undertake these bone exercises. Good luck.

So disappointed that you did not discuss the bones requirement for adequate estrogen... and how loss of estrogen is the single largest driving force behind bone loss in older women!
Estrogen replaced in women over the age of t0 is a MUST!!

    • @magpiegirl3783
      @magpiegirl3783 8 месяцев назад

You are correct about estrogen's role in bone loss, but whether it is a MUST depends very much on the individual's situation AND the type of hormonal replacement. There are definite risks to HRT but it can be monitored. Also, if the estrogen therapy is stopped, the bone density reverts back to what it was prior to starting, so that means long-term use of it may be limited. I believe that HRT cannot be undertaken by those women who have had certain types of breast cancer.

Bone contains piezoelectric crystals that cause a small electric charge when stress is placed on the crystal (Weight bearing exercise does this.) The body responds to stress by adding beneficial tissues to the stressed area. Bone responds by becoming more strongly flexible and by laying down a stronger mineral matrix. If nutrition is good and the person is sedenary, bone will waste away. Exercise and weight bearing activities are essential to preserve the flexibility and density of bone (Density DEPENDS upon its flexibility which depends upon active stress.)

VIP in my book! I had HYPERPARATHYROID Surgery and learned , the hard way , what you covered here. Thank you sooo much! This info is invaluable! Furthermore, the medication that my doctor ATTEMPTED to place me on would have prevented some needed , basic, dental work…as you covered here 😮

I was glad I didn't take the osteo drugs (I don't really like taking medications). If I had I could have lost my jaw as I got an infection in my jaw from an impacted wisdom tooth. The doctor who was meant to extract both, years earlier, left it there because he said he couldn't find it. What? Anyway, the guy who did remove it did a great job with almost no nerve damage and no broken jaw😁.

My Rheumatologist had put me on Methotrexate for too long. It destroyed my teeth, by making my body acidic. Methotrexate is used as a low dose chemo for Cancer.!

Thank you Dr Osborne for your extremely helpful and detailed information regarding bone health and sharing so many important tools to empower those of us with osteopenia and osteoporosis diagnoses. I am going to try to share these with my doctor but not sure how receptive she will be. I really need to find a doctor who is willing to listen to a more holistic approach to medicine and overall health. I am SO grateful for you! Your videos are informative and easy to understand. You are a gifted teacher as well.

Some good information, a lot of anti vegan bias. Vegans can are not limited to processed junk food, they can eat organic whole foods. Most vegans are also health conscious and are generally healthier and live longer than carnivores.

Thank you for shedding light on some of the inadequacies of traditional medicine in regards to this subject matter. I am so glad I refused the Forteo RX that was being forced on me five years ago after suffering a series of spinal compression fractures. I was advised my condition was due to low bone density from Sickle cell disease. So how was the prescription going to benefit me? I am so convinced about good nutrition and exercise being my best friends and I strive to partake of both daily. Thank you for reiterating, much needed information and encouragement! 🙏

Thank you, thank you Doctor! I was recently told I have osteopenia of the hip and spine, and osteoporosis of the right arm after a DEXA scan and was prescribed Fosamax brrr…I have no history of fractures. My sister- in -law had been on bisphosphonates for many years and now she is riddled with fractures! So I just did not start this therapy. Thanks to you I have a healthy solution now. I will try the vital mineral supplements first and follow all your invaluable advice in this connection and get a rescan after 12 months. Bless you !!

This was an amazing presentation, but do you have a summary of the vitamins/nutrients that are needed and in what amounts? Also, what blood tests you should ask for? I live in Mexico (I am from the USA) and two doctors just told me to take calcium and Fosamax. After reading about those medications I decided to stop taking them. I am not sure if I can get all the blood tests here, but if there is a list of what to ask for and a table with ranges, I can see what I can do. Thanks for your information!

Indeed, your explanation about bone health & illness like OP, what helps its prevention & side effects if you agree to Dr’s script, is very informative & an opener, that you don’t always agree with specialist not that you know better but they should also should have ears & time to listen to their patients. Thank you Dr. Peter Osborne 😊

This is a well covered topic, however, I'm curious why you only did comparisons with the vegan and vegetarian diet. Would have been good to see others like keto and pescatarian. I used to eat meat everyday but was consistently low in iron, b12 and folate. I'm mainly plant based now and have fish at least a couple of times a week, which is working better for me.

Likely those studies haven’t been conducted. He can only comment on the results of research that has been done. It’s not like it’s his own study.

@tabithalacopo4478 That's not correct; there are plenty of clinical papers covering different diets, which I've come across. My point was why he didn't bother revealing all of it, and just vegan and vegetarian.

That is interesting. I would wonder why a well-balanced omnivore diet was low in the values mentioned. Or was it well balanced? Did you eat eggs?
Many of the vegan or vegetarian women I know, over 50, have the start of osteopenia, or full blown osteoporosis.
I suspect low protein bio-availability, or imbalances. And these are ppl I know from sports activities, so they are not sedate and definitely not lacking muscle.

Thank you, this has been very relevant for me. I have just started most of these supplements instead of taking my Drs advice to go on meds. You have given me confirmation I’m on the right path. I am also predominantly plant based so have decided to add probiotic yogurt and small fish to my diet. So glad I came upon your channel.
