Imagine hiding behind a shield with your pokey gun, do garbo damage. The longsword does good damage as a reward for cultured people with good taste. You should be a longsword main, you will never amount to anything unless you do. /s
I love the statement, "play whatever weapon makes it the most fun for you". Couldn't agree more. I main the "boring starter weapon" SnS because I really enjoy the gameplay. I used a lot of LBG in RiseBreak and dabble in Hammer and HBG. But at the end of the day, it's all about having fun.
@@AntonioCunninghamboth can be true. Most people have a single try hard build and several builds that they take that are just fun. The people that act like they can't complete a hunt unless they use their try hard build is more of a self report on their skill level.
I totally agree, i personally am a jack of all trades. I play all of the weapons and have mastered none of them I just play which ever weapon catches my fancy at the time.
Exactly ,same feeling here . I am a Long sword and Lance main . I would add that tastes may change with time too, so a weapon that you dislike now can catch your attention later so you decide to play it
I .kinda hate the idea of all weapons are valid its a videogame why does someone need validation for the way the play the game. If playing a weapon wasnt valid who cares just play the game have fun or dont. Theres no reason to have an identity crisis over playing x weapon.
The word "hate" is way overused today. People have managed to replace it for words like disagree and dislike etc. Thing is "hate" is the final, highest designation of the criteria starting from dislike or disagree. If it's used against you there is no further for that criteria to go. I can disagree or not like anything, it doesn't mean I hate it!
@@GodEater015 That's true. Air mobility Is highly addictive. And staying grounded Is something I only do when I have buff 1, 2 & 3 at the same time. I'd happily remove the helicopter. Playing hacky sack & beyblade Is peak IG
I main bow and second longsword for end game matchups in MHW:I (Alatreon, Fatalis, etc). Bow seems strong until you get one tapped so often, and realize how much grind you need to get all the different elemental builds and decorations going. LS is a good weapon for beginners to use because it's easy enough to use but difficult to master. The only weapon I find that is a bit too OP and braindead is shield HBG, spread or pierce. But even I use them on occasion where I just want to obliterate the target without much effort.
Look, LS only became unbalanced in Rise. In world and Iceborne it took a certain level of understanding to use the weapon effectively, since there were specific limitations one had to overcome (i.e., moves you could and couldn't chain into from others, losses of spirit level on failed high-commitment attacks, and proper knowledge of counter timings/range/positioning/duration/etc.) As soon as they started removing those limitations, the weapon has felt less skilled and more... spammy? Your constantly only hitting easy counters to do the same big attack over and over, adding a follow-up that does even MORE damage doesn't change up the gameplay very much (imo). I love LS and it will always be my main, but I think that they've lost the sauce (so to speak) of what made original 5th Gen LS so great.
I think Long Sword in Mon World has always been an easy to pick up weapon but has one of the highest skill ceilings of all the weapons. It felt strong straight away as a newcomer compared to other weapons simply because it's easier to play straight off the bat. But a with a little practice with the other weapons, there are many weapons stronger than the Longsword in World and Icebourne. It genuinely felt somewhat balanced in that game. Heavy bowgun on the other hand... PAHAHAH that thing is busted as hell in Icebourne 😂
I hate how whenever you try to talk about the balance of the weapons, they bring up biased statistics to try to prove that their weapon isn't "actually OP" and how "balance isn't important in a PVE game" even though it definitely is. Really bugs me. it's impossible to have a meaningful conversation with these people.
@bluefiredemon448 Obviously yes, but as long as it's a similar amount to other weapons, that's not the Longswords issue anyway. Also, I never said anything about LS.
@@bluefiredemon448 Yea and Ruri is guilty of this. Like the LS's japanese speedrun is just 1s faster than the GL's and yet he keeps calling the LS broken and what not. Also while I do agree balance is important even in PvE games like MH but only when the weapon balance is horribly imbalanced which in MH it never really was.
I'm a simple guy. I just want Iframes for Evade Mechanics-with the exception of Sheathed Rolling-to be hidden behind Evade Window. Slides, Dashes, Hops, and Counters (not the Lance Blocking kinds) should require a lvl of EW in order to Iframe it. It's not like you're dodging by actually positioning yourself outside of the Hurt Box of an attack, you're just turning your hitbox off so you don't take dmg. Frankly you're just blocking an attack with the ability to follow up with a built in counter without being required to invest skills to be able to pull it off. Just more dmg to capitalize on it. If I have to trade dmg in order to block attacks by building Guard on a Shield Weapon, Evasion Focused weapons should have to build Evade Window.
@@bardd24 See the thing about LS is that even without the IFrames its kit has natural repositioning built into the moveset. Rather than just countering, it should be like a matador that moves between point A and B per the combo. But if having a crutch is all LS has to offer than it should go back to the drawing bored. Not that such is true, just it deserves better than surface lvl players.
@bigmoe9856 tell that to SnS, DBs, Insect Glaive, hammer, hunting horn. What do they "need"? Evade window? You don't think LS can counter everything without having to dodge some attacks, do you? That's just as applicable. Not to mention quick sheathe being mandatory if you want to come close to the "untouchable" weeb peppo made you think every LS user is. LS has more of a skill tax than half the roster, I don't want to hear it.
I would like weapons rather than be balanced, instead be better against different monsters. This sometimes is the case, but I do not think it's as drastic as it could be.
At this point, we don't know where the weapons will end up power wise. For all we know, Lance will be the speedrun champ come release. Capcom could easily flip the meta just by tweaking some numbers in a patch. Play what you find to be fun. Everything will be viable.
Have yet to find one person that thinks LS is OP who is even competent at it. Even at the top level it's not good. It was OP in base rise, GU, and maybe gen 2. It was less than mid in Worldborne, and utter ass in Sunbreak. In fact, lance was better both defensively and offensively in the latest title. If the wilds speed runs are anything to go off of LS is going to be a bottom pick (again!) and before anyone says "well it's a beta" you're right! Capcom has already confirmed they were going to nerf it because it was too "op". So many better options exist both defensively and offensively, yet the ignorant masses still use LS as a scapegoat for their own poor performance. That or they really are sore about getting tripped.
People who complain about how broken the longsword is are the same people who are terrible at the game even on their most used/main weapon. LS being OP started out as a joke but quickly turned into the most toxic part of this trash "community" to the point Capcom decided to ruin it in Sunbreak where LS mains were dropping the weapon for something else. I'm an LS main and I was okay with the years of constant berating from these people because I thought Capcom would never listen to these morons but alas, they did. I'm never playing a PVE game where actual bad players get to decide game design/balance. When these same morons don't even have enough brain power to chain two foresight slashes successfully.
Jokes aside, I think is an amazing complimentary weapon for Ruri, fast at deal elemental damage and good for cutting tail, literally what the Gunlance don't have, a very good pair. That said... the HH is just to funny to pass
@shinsekaimugiwara well, I play sns, so I'm not so prepared in other weapons, I thought since it was decent in speed it could be a good case for elemental
@@shinsekaimugiwara I’ve seen that video I think. I think Spirit helm breaker with its multiple hits would benefit from elemental but I really hope we don’t get a repeat of the raw meta from MHW.
I think so much if gaming has been ruined by min/max culture. People always want to play 'the best' weapon, or play a certain weapon 'the best' way blah blah blah. About 6 months ago I let go of min max mindset, stopped looking at builds in games and just did my own thing and holy shit I have never felt so liberated. Even if my ideal build is very close to the 'best' it is still MY build and at the end of the day that is what gaming is about to me.
Min/Max culture is more or less a byproduct of... subpar game balancing and deviations from that arise from boredom since at that point you're much better at the game and don't need to play optimally on a broad scale. But honestly? I don't think anyone truly is escaping min/maxing culture unless they have skill list that spans like 6 pages. Min/maxing is just another word for buildcrafting, and buildcrafting is like bare minimum a quarter of the fun for me.
@inanefabas4402 I would argue it isn't subpar game balancing at all! It is a byproduct of speedrunners and youtubers giving spotlights to only the best players and making videos about their builds and giving them the spotlight. everyone wants to be like them and see it as the 'only way' to use a certsin thing. I love buildcrafting as well, but there are SO many other ways to make a build than max damage and still have fun. I pride myself in out of the box buildcrafting. I have done it in Dota 2, World of Warcraft, fromsoft games, and Monster Hunter. The thing about min max I speak specifically about is being flamed for NOT using those best builds. The best builds are only that because the best players can play it flawlessly. They don't need divine blessing for example, whereas another player will benefit from it MUCH more than a max dps build since dying=failure or more dmg taken = more time healing = less 'efficient' use of 'best' build. Gaming culture is so lazy and wants to suck the fun out of a game because they want someone else to take the variety out of it. Tl;dr: gamers need to say to hell with the 'meta'. I am playing this game how I like, and people need to be less salty about it.
@@garretroldan3362 I think we agree more than we disagree, although we just have different priorities on who's to blame. The devs are ultimately responsible for how players can express themselves, and therefore, I believe they have an obligation to prevent significant playstyle/build and skill choice monopoly within a game. So for example, Ls being overrepresented as there are estimates of ls players constituting like 25% (correct me if I'm wrong) of the overall playerbase while being 7% of total weapon choice. I don't think gamers themselves are wholly to blame for min/max culture that you're describing, though. They are only responding to how the game is built and what the game gives incentives to. I think the root problem here is nature of action genres itself, where most of your defense kinda handed to you as part of your base moveset. Defense behaves more like a difficulty slider than a playstyle. Most blights do not require any build investment for preparation and element DF+ is only really taken seriously against arch tempereds and other similar endgame monsters. This issue is exacerbated by the fact that MH is stepping away from preparation and is moreso banking on your skill with your moveset rather than a mastery of the environment. RUclipsrs and community are just the messengers, not the makers.
I'll usually suggest the Hammer to new players because it's counterintuitive that it's a mobile weapon. being able to semi sprint around with charged attacks is pretty great when learning monsters. And Gunlance seems easy because of the shield, but i've seen my friend eat dirt way too many times because he relied on it too much. Longsword and Bow are too strong, there used to be videos Bow speedrun comps, killing monsters in a couple minutes. monsters need more HP in the games, especially multiplayer.
this. hammer has always been the best weapon for beginners imo. it teaches patience and through hammer i learned that i don't need to panic roll every attack. sometimes it's enough to just move to the side naturally
"What's your Power Fantasy?" "What's your preferred playstyle?" How to choose an initial weapon. It's may not what you will end up using as a main, but it's a good start. Try the rest.
I hate longsword, dualblades and bow. But, I don't hate the power balance level of any weapon, cause I ain't competitive like that. I hate those, because they flinch me the most. Longsword trips, flurry staggers and falling rock hazards.
As a bow main. I play bow because I shun a be an archer. If it gets nerfed into oblivion I’ll still play. The class fantasy for the weapon is impeccable. The damage I think it shouldn’t be so decoration heavy while I also think it does too much damage. I feel it would be better as a weapon that allows for really comfy builds. Bowguns on the other hand😒
A weapon that you don't play remember this as a Main of all weapons and been playing for twenty years all weapons are balanced even in the beta they finally fixed the gun lance only one that needed serious fixing.
Also psa- i think it's hilarious that he jokes about the LS this comment is meant to encourage fellow hunters to try all the weapons Arena quests are the best for this
That longsword follow-up added in wilds after the helmbreaker is just so hideously broken. Yeah OK it costs another level of gauge but so what? You get it back in 2 quick combos anyway. I had to laugh when it was shown in the first showcase video and the monster wasn't even in range and it still landed.
Is it? Isn't the long sword middle of the pack when it comes to time to kill in wilds? I would imagine that without that follow up ls would be near the bottom for sure.
@@minichief307 according to japanese speedruns it was the 3rd fastest followed by the Gunlance with 1s difference. Really the only that needed a buff if we base it on the speedruns Switch Axe, Lance, Sword and Shield and Heavy Bowgun because they had 2-3 minutes time difference to the other weapons. And besides the Heavy Bowgun they are getting buffs too.
Cap shows you haven’t actually really played the longsword, the follow up is super clunky is very risky and doesn’t have the crazy range people say most of the time.
They tremendously nerfed helm breaker because of it tho. Helm Breaker feels awful without including the follow up. The most broken thing is the helm breaker thrust having super armor, that needs to go away.
Yeah for the longsword isn't hate, it's the feeling you get when your parents have a favorite child, come Christmas you and the other kids will get presents, but he's gonna get a lot more
i don't hate any weapon because i use all of them , it is part of my joy playing the game , making different weapons and builds and learning how to fight with each weapon and each weapon do haave several fighting style and each of those with each different monter and with each diffeculty and map feels different , that is how i keep myself hundreds of hours busy playing .
The reason I don't care that much about weapon balance is because MH isn't a PvP game, I've some experience with every weapon(including Prowler in MHGU) and even though I have my favorites (SnS, CB and GL), I still like to use the busted spread builds for HBG or the LS for the juicy counters from time to time.
That's world's LS tho, wilds got rid of all the commitment and risks, it's not the same. In the video he talked about how foresight and helm split consumes your gauge, well you can now cancel out of helm split, and the directional commitment is also gone with focus mode.
@@EternalF4ll Its still not gonna outdps half the weapons just like in rise. Who are we kidding here, most people that complain about the longsword only hate it because its the most popular one of the bunch.
another think i find interesting is the fact that for some people weapons are like growing up, as you evolve and change as a person so do the weapons you like. the more you play, the more youll find new techs and styles in others youll want to try. i started as a swagaxer and hammer. still love them but nowdays I gravitate to HBG and Lance. yeah Explosions are for ppl that are trying to compensate for something. there, i said it Ruri =P
I would really like to see someone attempt to draw the skill/power scaling curves for each type of weapon in relation to each other. It's not going to be an absolute thing, even if someone puts tens of hours of work and thousands of hours of experience into it, but it would still be very neat.
Hell yeah. Ignore the haters and crybabies. They obviously aren't really listening. And in the spirit of celebrating all of the weapons, I recently made titles for each. Man, honestly having lively debates and discussions with my friends are some of my favorite times. Even if it’s politics or something, we all agree that we all just want the best for everyone, we just disagree on the way to do that. To both weapons in mh and games in general, you can give your points for what you think is the best, or what you like the most, but that’s it! It’s not (or shouldn’t be) personal! I love living in a world where we are all different people with different tastes and preferences
"and the bow" thanks for mentioning that as well. Bow had 2 bugs in MHR and the players tried to keep it in the game for longer. One bug needed animation cancelling to shoot an additional arrow and people argued that it should not be patched because it requires so much skill...
What messed my little mind up with longsword( in WORLD) was how to pull off a counter etc you had to do an attack first....which for me made it harder to pull off when I saw a move coming I wanted to counter...this is why I stayed away lol..also peppo is cool but dear gamer is up there too for top tier longsword mains
Also a great thing about the weapons of monster hunter that I love is that they sync with people differently. I'm a gunlancer since I started and in world/iceborne I decided to do a playthrough with Lance and I straight up sucked 😅 but I picked up the greatsword and boom 🤯 it clicked just like with the gunlance. In wilds I'm gonna be duelling gunlance or gunlance/Lance because I find the greatsword too easy and I just prefer my tank builds but it is still a great weapon that others will love.
LS and Bow are my 2 favorite weapons! I like how cool they are and I agree that they get too much love compared to the other weapons, I have mixed opinions about the direction they are taking them in wilds. They do not require more skill than the other weapons but I like the unique feel they both have in recent games, I think LS used to be the most boring weapon in the older games for example. I enjoy the funny memes and banter about them but some people don't get the jokes and get too serious about it even in your community sometimes.
If playing an OP feeling weapon will get you into/continue enjoying Monster Hunter then all the power to you. Would much prefer people enjoy this beautiful franchise, than feel like they are doing wrong by picking a weapon that hits hard ❤
I love how these weapons you 'hate' are my favorites. But I can't play them optimal--and that is fine. They were my first weapons and I have fun with them. And I am an archer and sword fighter in real life, my first game was Tri. I miss the insane custom stuff of Tri bowgun. Enjoy your gunlance, Ruri! I will be average in my laid back play of these 'OP' weapons
I was getting one of my friends into MH:World and he was trying the various weapons out and decided that the longsword was the most fun. I was stupid and couldn't keep my mouth shut, so I mentioned that it's the most popular weapon (not even that it was overpowered or anything). That alone made him not want to play it. He ended up going with the insect glaive because he felt the aerial attacks allowed him to easily dodge the monsters' attacks.
I loved the long sword until I discovered the switch axe and the charge blade, and then I just never looked back. I might give them another try, though. They were a lot of fun.
As someone who loves the Long Sword and has been using it since 3 Ultimate, Capcom really needs to dial it back. Despite my bias, I don't want other weapons to suffer just cuz LS is my favorite weapon.
The essential point is at 7:40 (but watch the whole video for build up context) but yes: after all the [in good faith / jest] memes, trolling, jabs, pokes, sarcasm, ribbing, etc. just play whatever you want, who cares? That's it. That's the point! Folks like Ruri have always pushed that narrative and it is essentially what relationship building is (at least in part) founded on. You are teasing from a place of love with the aim/goal towards play. Internet discourse breaks down when anonymous keyboarders fall into one or both extremes in this adventure in play: either, there are those who are too thin skinned to open up themselves to the play when it is done in good faith with underlying pure intentions and they perpetuate a victim complex/mentality which projects a mischaracterized air of bullying in the community, or, there are those who do come from a place of malice and ill will with their memes and jabs and ribbing, causing real, stupid harm. Either extreme breaks down the adventure in play and leads to toxicity. If both sides of the extremes (and all of us) just adopt the "just play whatever you want, who cares?" mentality, the malicious trolls have no outlet for their cowardly actions, the sensitive would-be victims empower themselves to stand up straight, and the rest of us keep on playing and dancing in the middle ground, lovingly dunking on the longsword users while secretly wishing we had a fraction of Peppo's talent lmao.
I play bow since 2G. I won't change my favorite weapon because Capcom buffed it. But there is great chance that those top tier weapons will be nerfed at the launch.
I did find it odd how they retained longsword movesests and bow movesets AND expanded upon them while absolutely dropping what greatness and QoL they've done with switch axe and and IG. Thankfully they heavily addressed IG. Lance too, even. It's a little odd.
I’m a Gunlance main who’s dabbled in Horn and Heavy Bowgun I’m ok being slow as long as I get to make big booms and be useful My wife is the exact opposite: she loves speed, agility, all movement all the time, so she plays Dual Blades and Insect Glaive We both joke about each others playstyles being trash, but I survive hits that would 1 shot her, and she dodges attacks I can fully block But we both respect each others talents 🎊 you have fun with what you got
People keep thinking the LS is top tier. It’s not. It’s mid tier. Every speed run has proven it. 😂 people see the pros counter everything and everyone thinks all LS users can do the same. 😂
For me it's the bow, not because it's too powerful but I just don't like the play style and if I'm going to play ranged it's going to be heavy bowgun, but no weapon will replace gunlance for me though.
Maybe I'm weird but I can't imagine plaything through the full game using only one weapon. I rarely go more than 3 hunts without switching weapons. I play them all... except the guns because that's cheating.
I've been playing since Tri and I've never played LS and I'm going to for Wilds. Gonna pair it with Hammer probably as I've never mained that either. Not choosing it because of its numbers it just looks fun
I don't know if it is just me, I think shield become more useless in MHWIB/MHSunbreak compare to MHGU. I tried guard up and guard on max lv, feels like still couldn't tank properly (exception for those really heavy hit that you need to run behind rock).
ruri always finds something to buff about the GL. if it isn't the maintenance on buffs, it's the sharpness, then the shelling levels, then the shelling types, then the skill tax, then the difficulty to land a wyrmstake, etc.
It's a Japanese game, Long sword is a traditional Japanese weapon... it'll always be meta... I'm a hammer/hunting horn, greatsword user... i made an effort to play every weapon Yesterday doing the Kulve taroth siege playing hammer with 3 lance users was not fun but we won that's what counts... my opinion I'm glad there's a wide selection of weapons and every weapon has a good amount of users, the game would get boring if we all used the same weapon
I dunno, kinda feels like people saying "Ruri HATES LS etc." looks like a meme to me. -> 4:16 There, he confirmed it. So it IS a meme after all, in which some people seem to confuse/overreact to the point where they make Rurikhan look like he ACTUALLY hates certain weapons. Conclusion: Just chill folks. Hate/praise certain weapons to your heart's content, just don't offend others with it. On the same notion, don't get too irritated on a joke/meme. btw I'm a LS main since MH Tri ;)
The only weapons I couldn't have fun with are the Dual Blades and Insect Glaive. I always gravitate to the slow weapons and the shield weapons. They just feel more fitting; more right.
Why are people whining about strong weapons in a pve game ? Crying for nothing. Weaoons are strong for a reason. Monsters are gonna be tough. Stop bitching asking for nerfs in a pve game
I kinda hope they adding like Sommersaults Charge slash for GS in WILDS, but naw they just only add side sweep that kinda sucks because i can just destroy the weakpoint using my TCS anyway. Also yay now i can aim my TCS more easily with my controller....
That´s the thing: I think the majority of us know, that you don´t hate any weapon, why should you? Maybe some LS and Bow PLAYERS, but even then is "hate" some BIG wording isn´t it :D Fun Fact: Me as a LS User loves your Videos and discussions so much! And Plottwist: At Wilds´"What kind of Weapon should i use?" Ask about my first Weapon was Gunlance :D
I gotta disagree from what ive seen on streams and comments on Ruri's community most people wholeheartedly do not take it as a meme. And i know that bc most people actually pretty vile stuff about ls and ls users just in chat
I was a longsword player mainly from gen 2 - gen 5. Rise kinda broke it for me and it seem not to get better with wilds. Since rise i started to play more gunlance. Now i see it as my main weapon. For wilds i take the gunlance as my main for wilds. For the secondary weapon DB, SnS, HH, Lance, GS. They all played so good. Atleast the lance gets a change what makes it bettter.
I mean, as a LS main myself who used to play solo all the time in World, I never really understood the general hate around the weapon... Until I found myself introducing and playing with a friend who also chose to use a LS during Wilds beta, and after a couple of hunts with him I was like.. Ok, I get it now. Then again... After how they revamped the whole friendly fire system, I think some other weapons might take the spotlight for most annoying one 😅
As someone who started with MHW as a Longsword main(and loved it), I don't think I'll see myself maining it in future games because it's just brain dead easy to use in Rise and Wilds. Iai spirit slash with quick sheath 3 is so broken. I just hope they nerf it in some future games and bring back the high risk/ high reward aspect i loved so much.
MHW was my first MH game, I was a long sword main. I know it's too easy to use. I think I liked it so much was because it is flashy and simply fun to use.
My most hated weapon is also my most beloved weapon: swaxe. I love it because its borderline impossible to enjoy any other weapon nearly as much I also hate it because its borderline impossible to enjoy any other weapon nearly as much LMAO
I'm more concerned with the hyper armor on SA, with how it work on full release slash, than I am on LS tbh. The reason is simple. Why use zero sum discharge ever, if full release has similar interruption resistance/damage mitigation and does more damage to the monster? I want both of them to have their own use cases because they use the same resource. Both use amped state so they should do different things that suit different situations. This would make your choice of what to use it for more meaningful. If a monster is not moving too much for a while/you got a massive damage window, use full release for all out damage. If a monster is about to do a big move, where you're not sure if you can get out of it, then you use ZSD to latch on/do less damage but still decent damage/tank the hit. That would be cool and make full release this more risky move, without actually making as obvious as simply you can't move so you can get hit. You are spending a resource that can use be used for a defensive option, not all of it and it does recover with time and hits, to do this move. Conversely, you are sacrificing the damage of full release, for a bit, if you use ZSD too much. I'm fine with full release having super armor (not being able to be hit out of the animation but taking all the damage) but not hyper armor (not being able to be hit out of an animation and taking like half damage). I adored SA in the beta, it was the most fun I had with a switch axe. Yes, the damage being weaker than lance unless you spam full release as much as humanly possible is a problem but that's easily fixed. They said they are fixing it by adjusting the balance of SA so it's generally stronger and doesn't favor full release as much, by buffing sword mode.
I'm a swaxe main and I hate the changestehy made to teh swaxe. 100% ruins teh weapon for me. Luckily I play lots of other weapons but man I ain't playign swaxe in wilds

"Go into the training area, try all the weapons that you start with. See which one you like, then sell them and use Gunlance"
Fully agree, it would be cool if all weapons were closure in strength but ultimately......just play whatever you like to make you enjoy the game.
Every weapon is valid, play whatever you want, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. I say this as a Bow and Lance main.
Exactly ,same feeling here . I am a Long sword and Lance main .
I would add that tastes may change with time too, so a weapon that you dislike now can catch your attention later so you decide to play it
THE FAULT LIES WITH YOU, RYOZO!
You know - I've never thought about it, but you're so right
Game fandoms are just so anti-criticism from my own experience expressing concern in the most polite way I can they would still label me as a hater
@@karkovb1522 Yeah, a crime of concern doesn't have the same impact as saying hate crime.
@@1R3TR0 Yeah, well it's the Gacha games fandoms that I was in. After spending years I now realise that most gacha gamers have a Stockholm Syndrome 😂
I don't care bro i hate you
I already know it's the longsword without even clicking on the video.
My most hated weapon is the insect glaive cause there’s no way I, as a bow user, am getting more mounts than you
The king of the mount and wound making is the sns 😌
And I hate mounting when I just wanna spam my downward Beyblade move
@maxwortel8986 please don't say that, they will take it out like they did with friendly fire
This! That’s because they’re spamming the helicopter move for the whole hunt.
Stickies in World were cheese. Anytime I was against something that had shit hitzones or just felt like going braindead, I’d use stickies.
Look, LS only became unbalanced in Rise. In world and Iceborne it took a certain level of understanding to use the weapon effectively, since there were specific limitations one had to overcome (i.e., moves you could and couldn't chain into from others, losses of spirit level on failed high-commitment attacks, and proper knowledge of counter timings/range/positioning/duration/etc.)
As soon as they started removing those limitations, the weapon has felt less skilled and more...
Yup. Love the sane players of any weapon.
But Should a LS user not be rewarded for his efforts of learning his moveset, timing and monster knowledge?
@bluefiredemon448 Obviously yes, but as long as it's a similar amount to other weapons, that's not the Longswords issue anyway. Also, I never said anything about LS.
@@Ryker_11 but it gets the most flack no?
The same people that complain that the LS is too easy can't parry every attack.
@bluefiredemon448 Most flack sure, but it's not the only problem. Just has the most obvious issues.
@@bigmoe9856 ls have extremely lenient . It is a crutch if taken away, might lose most of fan base.
LS already compensates by doing piss poor damage
@@bardd24 See the thing about LS is that even without the IFrames its kit has natural repositioning built into the moveset. Rather than just countering, it should be like a matador that moves between point A and B per the combo.
But if having a crutch is all LS has to offer than it should go back to the drawing bored. Not that such is true, just it deserves better than surface lvl players.
@@higgsbosonfan hardly. Actually sacrifice some dmg skills for safety skills
I personally don’t see the point to having multiple different weapons but then expecting them to all be evenly balanced.
I would like weapons rather than be balanced, instead be better against different monsters. This sometimes is the case, but I do not think it's as drastic as it could be.
@@Bug_Berry See, this makes sense because it encourages switching between different weapons and trying out something new.
Read the title I'm 99% sure which weapon he hates the most.
I always knew hating a weapon is just a meme, but some people take it too far.
Answers the question a second into the vid, real shit
Started with Lance and GS in Freedom 1, still rocking these two. Play with whatever gels with you, every weapon is there for a reason.
I love Dante in DMC 5!
Ruri: You should play dual motorcycles.
If anything, I think you like the LS. It’s your secret main weapon. I know the “hating” is for the memes.
Jokes aside, I think is an amazing complimentary weapon for Ruri, fast at deal elemental damage and good for cutting tail, literally what the Gunlance don't have, a very good pair. That said... the HH is just to funny to pass
@@joselocombi6127 LS isn't really an elemental weapon unfortunately, Peppo had a good discussion about it in his latest video!
RUclipsrs and community are just the messengers, not the makers.
this discussion has nothing to do with min/maxing. also min/maxers are never an issue, certainly not in PvE games like MH
Is this bait? Seems like massive bait lmao
Most professional and perfect intro to a video like this ever. Perfection has finally been made
I'll usually suggest the Hammer to new players because it's counterintuitive that it's a mobile weapon. being able to semi sprint around with charged attacks is pretty great when learning monsters.
Best example of what a YT vid should be...question answered within the first second...ruri is the GOAT...and a gigamegachad!
Ruri is a balding old man
As we all know if the joke goes too far. Rurikhan will pull the "I have long sword friends" card to hide his prejudice.
Bowguns on the other hand😒
i really liked the bow in risebreak, but unless i can fulfill my dream of having a somewhat half decent build with melee bow i will never love it
A weapon that you don't play remember this as a Main of all weapons and been playing for twenty years all weapons are balanced even in the beta they finally fixed the gun lance only one that needed serious fixing.
For anyone that hate the longsword, go watch a video "in defence of the long sword" from git crunked. You'll get humbled or triggered. Either way lol.
Especially not the bow and bowguns. never hear people call for nerfs for these even tho they are always the most busted simply because they aren't the most popular weapons. Who are we kidding here, most people that complain about the longsword only hate it because its the most popular one of the bunch.
Ruri states facts about humanity in 2013 onwards... whilst keeping it in a Monster Hunter context, you good sir... are a master
another think i find interesting is the fact that for some people weapons are like growing up, as you evolve and change as a person so do the weapons you like. the more you play, the more youll find new techs and styles in others youll want to try. i started as a swagaxer and hammer. still love them but nowdays I gravitate to HBG and Lance. yeah Explosions are for ppl that are trying to compensate for something. there, i said it Ruri =P
Maybe they could steer new players toward one that suits their style!
......
Greatsword- Brave Executioner
Longsword- Flowing Samurai
Sword & Shield- Nimble Gladiator
Dual Blades- Frenzied Berserker
Hammer- Bashing Barbarian

Lance- Invulnerable Knight
Gunlance- Point-Blank Artillerist
Switch Axe- Mechanical Eviscerator
Charge Blade- Technical Retailiator
Insect Glaive- Acrobatic Ranger

I was a Long Sword main with over 1500 quests made in World, but I slowly started playing other weapons and I never comeback to Long Sword.
I dont hate the weapon, I hate the people who are obnoxious with the weapon
I started playing with a lance and I play with a lance and I will always play with a lance XD
wife asked me why I use Charge Blade, I told her I love complicated things
Yeah too many people get butt hurt when anyone says something about "their" weapon especially when I say charge blade isn't fun
OK, I understand, but what about dung pods...
Most important part of this video: Sekiro is GOATed.
It's a little odd.
really, what is with this long sword HATE??? can you really not enjoy this game without HATING on the longsword? so petty!
I saw the thumbnail. i already knew the weapon (i have the wallpaper with that hunter)
I’m a Gunlance main who’s dabbled in Horn and Heavy Bowgun
I’m ok being slow as long as I get to make big booms and be useful
My wife is the exact opposite: she loves speed, agility, all movement all the time, so she plays Dual Blades and Insect Glaive
We both joke about each others playstyles being trash, but I survive hits that would 1 shot her, and she dodges attacks I can fully block
But we both respect each others talents 🎊 you have fun with what you got
I’m going to use Bow and Longsword in Wilds, AND NOBODY CAN STOP ME!
Straight to the point. I feel exactly like you do. I hate Long Sword and Bow. They just steal the show.
I don't know if it is just me, I think shield become more useless in MHWIB/MHSunbreak compare to MHGU. I tried guard up and guard on max lv, feels like still couldn't tank properly (exception for those really heavy hit that you need to run behind rock).
So if gunlance gets the long sword and bow treatment, would you hate gunlance?
ruri always finds something to buff about the GL. if it isn't the maintenance on buffs, it's the sharpness, then the shelling levels, then the shelling types, then the skill tax, then the difficulty to land a wyrmstake, etc.
Playing God Eater 3 at the moment. Really like the combat👍
It's a Japanese game, Long sword is a traditional Japanese weapon... it'll always be meta... I'm a hammer/hunting horn, greatsword user... i made an effort to play every weapon
Yesterday doing the Kulve taroth siege playing hammer with 3 lance users was not fun but we won that's what counts... my opinion I'm glad there's a wide selection of weapons and every weapon has a good amount of users, the game would get boring if we all used the same weapon
What weapon do u recommend for soulslike people? Elden ring, lies of P, nine sols, hollow knight, remnant 2
Love the nonsense straight business intro.
Immediate like. 👍
Maybe you should have watched the video.
I kinda hope they adding like Sommersaults Charge slash for GS in WILDS, but naw they just only add side sweep that kinda sucks because i can just destroy the weakpoint using my TCS anyway. Also yay now i can aim my TCS more easily with my controller....
Didn't even mention the Switch Axe... that's true hate right there.
That´s the thing: I think the majority of us know, that you don´t hate any weapon, why should you? Maybe some LS and Bow PLAYERS, but even then is "hate" some BIG wording isn´t it :D
Fun Fact: Me as a LS User loves your Videos and discussions so much!
That's just because the frames where so big/long. I have countered everything too.
Had us in the first half ngl
That was an amazing 2 second video
Straight to the fact
And hating LS is not a Rurikhan community thing only, it's a Monster Hunter thing
I hate the bow because its the only weapon i just cant get good with. Dont know how other people do it
My bow main ass watching that intro: 😢
MHW was my first MH game, I was a long sword main.
I know it's too easy to use. I think I liked it so much was because it is flashy and simply fun to use.
My most hated weapon is also my most beloved weapon: swaxe.
I love it because its borderline impossible to enjoy any other weapon nearly as much
I also hate it because its borderline impossible to enjoy any other weapon nearly as much LMAO
I've hunted 1000s of Monsters with GS but LBG & HBG fit so well for me.
I'm a swaxe main and I hate the changestehy made to teh swaxe. 100% ruins teh weapon for me. Luckily I play lots of other weapons but man I ain't playign swaxe in wilds
I never realized the hate for LS come from being too easy and/ or overpowered
Always thought it was because it trips people nonstop. Personally I dont main the weapon anymore, but I like how it makes you feel. It deals great damage and you look cool while doing so. What more do you really need? :D
I play every weapon besides IG,SA, and CB. Its hard to choose a favorite and i hate none.
I just steer away from popular weapon/classes in every game. It so happens to be Longsword in this game.
