Before Jesus died on the cross, people sinned on a regular basis, and they sacrificed animals for forgiveness.
The Bible tells us that Jesus death on the cross was meant to give us a better way. He came to bring righteousness to his chosen people.
2 Corinthians 5:21 tells us this:
"For our sake, he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."
    Scripture also says:
    1 Peter 2:24
"He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness."
    Scripture also says:
“And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.” Romans 6:18.
There are many people who call themselves Christians today who do not live any differently than people did before Jesus came.
They sin on a regular basis just as people always did before. They believe they have been saved even though there is no distinction between their lifestyles and that of unbelievers. They believe Jesus made the sacrifice so that they can sin without a penalty and recieve constant forgiveness.
This was not what God intended. The free gift that he offers is only for those who are obedient to living without sin.
    Hebrews 5:9 tells us:
"And being made perfect, he (Jesus) became the source of eternal salvation to all who OBEY him,"
Deliberate rebellion against God was not acceptable before Jesus came:
    Numbers ch. 15 tells us:
"But the person who does anything
presumptuously, whether he is native-born or a stranger, that one brings reproach on the Lord, and he shall be cut off from among his people. Because he has despised the word of the Lord, and has broken His commandment, that person shall be completely cut off; his guilt shall be upon him."
Also, we are told that deliberate rebellion today is still not tolerated even after Jesus died on the cross:
“For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries.”
    (Hebrews 10:26).
Jesus came to forgive sins and also to bring righteousness to those that he chooses to forgive. Most Christians deny that righteousness is possible. They reject God's grace, which offers freedom from sin by denying it. Without faith in the power of God to deliver us from the bondage of sin, they will not be able to enter his kingdom.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 confirms that righteousness is required for Salvation:
"do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."
God’s grace does not forgive continual sins. It frees us from the bondage of sin itself. Unsaved Christians are still living under the law. They are trying to find ways to conquer their sins on their own. They may run from church to church looking for answers. They may think this speaker or that one will have the magical answer. No human being can tell you how to stop sinning. There is no five step program that can change our heart. It is a miracle from God that we recieve when we are truly Born Again. Sin cannot be overcome without the power of the Holy Spirit. Those without the Holy Spirit are still under the law and they will pay the full penalty that the law requires come Judgment Day.

“Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; to declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.”
      ‭‭Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬-‭26‬ ‭

@@tyler64360You cannot base God's salvation on a couple of scriptures. You have to read the whole bible.
All Christians believe in Jesus, but few truly believe in the Word of God. You cannot separate God from his word. For those who reject his word, God will reject them.
True repentance and obedience are required by God for Salvation. One must become a devoted student of God's word in the bible to know who he is and what he requires of us. One must be born again.
People can't just say, "I believe in Jesus" and be saved on the spot.
We have to repent from the heart and hope that God will accept us. Jesus said, "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him."
There is a great deal of arrogance when human beings believe that they can command God to show up and save them on the day and time of their choosing. This is highly disrespectful. God calls whoever he chooses on his own timing.
Scripture says: "The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
We answer to God. He doesn't answer to us.
Receiving salvation is not like going through the drive-thru at McDonald's.
There are requirements that God expects of us.
Jesus said that not all Christians will be saved:
“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14)
There are things that God requires of us for Salvation:
The 5 Foolish Virgins believed in Jesus, but they were rejected.
Esau begged for his father's blessing in tears, but he was rejected.
Judas gave back the thirty pieces of silver but he was rejected.
The rich young man wanted to follow Jesus, but he was rejected when he refused to sell his riches and give to the poor.
Jesus said that all lukewarm Christians will be spit out.
No doubt most of them received false assurance from their church that all that is reqired for salvation is that we simply believe in God.
For those who believe that god has no requirements other than to believe in Jesus, they are false converts.
Shortly before Jesus died on the cross, he warned that sinning Christians are guaranteed to end up in Hell.
      Matthew 5:30
"And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into hell."
Dont be decieved by false churches.

I spent much of my Christian life worrying about whether I was saved or not, mostly because there is much false teaching out there. I’ve just gotten to the point where I don’t listen to any teachers/pastors because every time I did, it would mess me up all over again. The gospel is simple and is stated in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4.
If you believe that Christ died to pay the penalty for our sins and was buried and rose again the third day you have eternal life. The presence of sin has nothing to do with it. That is a walk or sanctification issue.
The Bible uses the word “saved” in many different ways. When you see that word, you always have to ask “saved form what”?
      The penalty of sin(justification)
      The power of sin(sanctification)
      The presence of sin (glorification)
Justification has to do with being saved from the lake of fire which happens the moment you belief the gospel. Sanctification is the process where we are being made righteous. I don’t want to confuse you but the distinctions are very important to understand

The only assurance you will have your salvation is when you are told on Judgement Day well done my good and faithful servant. There is no where in the Bible that the terminology Assurance of Salvation is going to be found. All of these teachings are man-made. They are partial scriptures put together with other parcel scriptures in order to create a doctrine that is not scripturally sound
