Why "one day"? Why not ask Him NOW? There is nothing wrong with asking Jesus (God) questions. I ask Him all the time to give me understanding; ESPECIALLY on "controversial" things. Because, there are few things more liberating than experiencing the TRUTH; that is SO far removed from what MOST believe.

Matthew 12:38-40 - 38. Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, "Teacher, we want to see a sign from You."
    39. But He answered and said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.
    40. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Jesus was clearly saying that he would spend the 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth, hell/hades. The paradise or heaven is not in the heart of the earth. What happened to Jonah was prophetic as to what Jesus would have to endure in the heart of the earth.

"Where was Jesus for the three days between His death and resurrection?"
I fought that for 80 yrs of my 91 yr of Christianity. But when I became 75; everything changed in my life. That was because, I finally got on my knees and seriously with tears; asking Jesus, to give me "Wisdom", "Understanding" and "Heavenly Truth".
Also I said, "I am not trying to be right. I just want to know WHAT is right". And within days, I began to see things I had NEVER seen. Yet they were always there. And I heard things I had never heard. Yet they were always there.
And the best: I began to see scriptures that I had never seen. Yet they were always there and I read them! Praise Jesus. Thus, I have an incredibly understanding of my bible, than ever. And I believe the Holy Spirit's leading me to believe that: Jesus went to HELL for 3 days*. But the time was Forever.
And it had to be; to pay for EVERY Sin (except for one) that would ever be. And that is why Jesus cried out on the cross to the Father. And for the first time, I realized WHY Jesus would pray, to what HE really was. For Jesus is the name of the true God Almighty forever. Amen!
And I now feel that my prayers EVERY day to Jesus and through the days; that the Holy Spirit is detouring me around lies and causing me to SEE, HEAR and READ truthfully. That I had never knew them. But they were always there. Believe it or not. End of story and I rest me case...
...In any case kind Sir, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!

How could he have gone to hell forever if he was with his apostles three days later, and is now seated at the right hand of the father? I don’t understand what your theology is coming from. It plainly states that the dead have no consciousness. This idea of Casper the friendly ghost going off to some magic land is from Greek paganism. No where does it say that in the Bible.

Where does the Bible clearly state that the dead have no consciousness? Paul said "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." Seems to me that's pretty clearly stating that we do have a consciousness. Also, When Jesus said to the man on the cross, "Today, you will be with me in Paradise." I fully believe that when we die, we retain our soul and spirit, and that we are very much who we were, only lacking a flesh and blood body, and we are with Jesus. Once Jesus sets up his kingdom on earth, then we will have glorified bodies--bodies like what Jesus had before his ascension.

Yeah. Jesus knew He was going to be sent to Hell ... for 3 days ... which is how long it takes to destroy the soul.
God must punish anybody who sins ... with death (body & soul). This is why the body decays & dies ... & ... the Soul is sent to Hell.
Hell was created by God to punish fall Angels who are powerful spirits ... with freewill ... and are to serve & help the Children of God.
Fallen Angels can not be saved, and they know God created them, and that if they sin they will be punished forever.
God only created Adam & Eve ... with freewill & the ability to procreate Mankind ... and clearly warned them that if they sin .... they( an their descendants ) will die (body & soul) .... because the Mind of Man ( with freewill & nature) is the body & soul.
The nature of Man ... is the body ... and it is clearly corrupted by a common ancestor because every single human being will freely think & do something the is clearly evil or against God.
God deliberately made His Children ... with puny bodies & souls .... and able to procreate ... so that they can be saved ... and ... God can become a Father.
Adam is the Father of the Children of Man.
Jesus is the Father of the Children of God.
And Jesus is the first Child of God ... as the Son of God permanently has a body & soul.
The Angels ... who can not be saved if they sin ... were created to be the servants & helpers of God's Children .. and knew that if they will be punished forever if they sin.
This is why Satan .. hates the Human Race ... as he is one of the most powerful Angels and did not want be a servant & help of God's children.
And here is not time ... in heaven or Hell.
God is on a 7 000 year Salvation plan ... with Jesus returning in the year 1000 to rule for 1000 years ... and ... all the death & living Believers at the Second Coming ... will join Jesus in Heaven forever. But Jesus has just returned to rule for 1000 years. How so?
When you die .... you go straight to Judgement day in the year 7 000 or those alive on Earth ... to either join Jesus for ever or be sent to Hell to die.
God has to punish a sinner ... with death (body & soul). The body will die in the Universe. The soul will die in Hell.
God sent His only begotten Son ... to be the sin sacrifice ... that will satisfy God's just nature & His lover for His (sinful) creation.

Jesus went to Abraham's Bosom. It was split into two parts before Jesus' death. One side paradise, where the OT prophets & saved souls dwelt, & the other side was, essentially, a place of torment. The souls in prison were those who did not turn to God during life, possibly fallen angels as well. Jesus then probably proclaimed the gospel & what He accomplished on the cross & took everyone in Abraham's Bosom to actual Heaven, for they were finally redeemed & made righteous in the sight of God thru Jesus' death. The proclamation of the gospel & redemption of those on the paradise side of Sheol, probably wasn't such great news for the damed souls of those who rejected God in life, including all who perished in the Flood.

@Mark Warner When ppl die their soul goes to Heaven to be with God. When Jesus comes back there will be some believers still alive (they'll be caught up) but those who've died & are in Christ will recieve glorified bodies & unit with their souls. It kind of gives you the idea that their dead bodies will be raised, glorified & reunite with their souls.

@Mark Warner Remember the thief on the cross whom Jesus told that he will be with Him in paradise that day? (Luke 23)
In Luke 16 Jesus uses the parable of the rich man & Lazarus to hint at what happens after death. One person is in torment & the other in paradise.
When you cherrypick verses without context, it seems like the Bible contradicts, brother.

Hebrews 2: 9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
Jesus HAD TO “taste death.” There are two kinds of death. If He did not taste the second death then our sin debt is not paid in full…
During the three days He tasted death (the second death).
If we are talking about a physical death then saved men would no longer experience a physical death.
So clearly we are talking about another kind of death, the death that entered at the fall. Jesus provides restoration and redemption through the finished work He preformed “IT IS FINISHED!”
    Paid IN FULL!

    Acts 24:15
I have a hope in God, which these men themselves also accept, that there will be a resurrection, both of the righteous and the unrighteous.
Well, there is no such thing as a righteous or unrighteous body. Therefore, this can only mean that there will be a resurrection of righteous and unrighteous souls (together with their new bodies). And for anyone to claim that righteous souls DESCENDING with Christ to reacquire bodies counts as a "resurrection" of the righteous is not true as this verse will reveal.
    Matt. 24:31
And he shall send forth his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together HIS ELECT from the four corners of the world, from one end of heaven to the other.
So if righteous souls who ARE the elect will be descending with Christ, then the angels would just be gathering bodies. Of course, bodies in the ground are not "the elect." They are just physical material. And even a transformed, immortal body cannot be the real person. The real person will reside in that heavenly dwelling (2 Cor. 5:2).

I believe Jesus went to purgatory. His appearance to Mary Magdalene on easter Sunday was as a sweaty gardener covered with the dust of the dirt they worked in all day. The sweat on a gardener's skin would have moistened the dust of the dirt, turning it dark. Jesus's looked dark as a gardener because He had been down in Purgatory releasing all the souls from there, and taking upon Himself the stains of all the sins the dead had as yet not made reparations for.
I make the comparison with the Blessed Virgin Mary at Medjugorje in Hercegovina during the last years of the 20th century. When sinners touched her clothes, their sins made her impossibly white covering turn grayer and grayer until she faded from sight. Sinners sweat out the stains of their sins in Purgatory. John 20:17
That answers why Jesus told Mary Magdalene, " Touch me not, for I am not yet ascended to my Father, but go to my brethren, and say unto them, "I ascend unto my Father, and your Father, and to my God, and your God." Jesus at that time had NOT yet ascended to God the Father. He had NOT been in heaven since his death.
I hope I have been able to settle this bit of confusion.

@robertstephenson6806bona said dead and asleep--not unconscious.
I disagree with the soul sleep perspective, but it's worth you looking up.
Purgatory and Abraham's bosom are very different things, though. Abraham's bosom was/is a temporary paradise. Purgatory is a place of penance, suffering, and cleansing because when we die we're still too ugly from sin to be in heaven and have to be clean before we can enter.
Purgatory is a dogma with several pieces of doctrine inside it--it doesn't merely mean a holding place. The amount of time one spends there is proportional to the amount of sun and types of sim committed: a good person could spend 10 years in purgatory, which is almost a saintly short period of time, and bad people reasonably spend a couple thousand years in purgatory.
On the other hand, Abraham's bosom either ended when Jesus completed His sacrifice OR ends on final judgement day. Abraham's bosom also isn't a literal place: it's a description of the concept of paradise. Abraham's bosom is a picture of the Roman custom (which the Jews adopted) of reclining onto the person next to you during meals. The same happens in The Lord's Supper when Peter reclined onto Christ; Peter was in His bosom. The story which gives us the term is used to emphasize that not every Jew is a member of the covenant; the rich man, a Jew, would not be with Abraham even though he's of the family line. Abraham and the poor man are either together in paradise, a temporary place, or in heaven, but Abraham's bosom is his literal bosom in that story--not an ethereal location.

Mt 12:40 - Just as Jonah was 3 days and 3 nights in the belly of the fish, so will the Son of Man be for 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth. (which is where hades is)
Acts 2:31 - he (David), foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that He was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption. (It is implied He was there. And not left there but was brought out - resurrection)
Rom 10:6-7 - But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, Do not say in your heart, Who will ascend into heaven? (That is, in order to bring Christ down from above) or, Who will descend into the abyss? (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead)
Paul clearly knew, Christ was in the abyss - like the verse plainly shows.
Rev 1:17-18 - Do not be afraid, I am the First and the Last and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. And I have the keys of Death and of Hades
John 20:17 - Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father
These verses clearly reveal that Christ went to Hades (where everyone went when they died) when He died. (the apostles creed also knew correctly biblically - "was crucified, dead and buried, He descended into Hades. On the third day He rose again from the dead") This makes it clear Paradise was not up there YET, but paradise (His presence) was still in Hades in the heart of the earth and only afterwards, paradise was in the Father's presence "in heaven".
This is such a bad, wrong answer to this huge question. Going into 1 verse not bring aware of where Paradise is and coming to a conclusion (and then misinterpreting other passages to fit the wrong conclusion) when there are a host of passages that clearly teach that Christ was in Hades between His death and resurrection..

Yeah Got Questions has some decent resources and answers, but when they start pulling different “versions” of the Bible to interpret a verse or view it’s forcing you’re own preset conclusion. I don’t believe that Christ was in hell for punishment myself, I believe when he said “it is finished.” He meant just that but hades held paradise and hell at this time, he went there for multiple reasons. I do not completely understand what all he did there but I know this answer is gibberish. A point made from God’s word shouldn’t need two, three, or even more versions of the Bible pulled to have an answer. Everything we need should be able to come from one version of the Bible. God hasn’t left us in darkness since Christ’s ascension, he didn’t leave us several volumes for 2,000 years to sift between to get answers.

Think about it. If he wasn't dead, he lied, which means Christianity is bogus. The basic tenant of Christianity is resurrection of the DEAD. Friends, the subject of the state of the dead is critical or you'll be deceived by teachings of the devil.
In order to correctly understand this issue you have to go back to the beginning, in Genesis, in the garden of Eden. God said, ' you shall surely die ' and the devil said ' you shall not surely die, you'll be like God knowing good and evil '.
Plenty of verses make it plain that when you die you know not a thing. Just look it up. Job chapter 14 is a very important chapter on the state of the dead. Job 19:25 Job affirms his belief in the Resurrection. In 1 Thess 4 it's very clear that when Christ shall come the believers who are dead are resurrected first and together with the living believers meet the Lord in the air. At the same time!
There're a few scatterings of people who are said to be in heaven, for example when Christ rose from the dead and Moses, transfiguration and Jude. Moses appeared as a representative of the dead believers who would be saved as a result of Jesus' sacrifice and Elijah represented those that would be alive when he comes.
The reason you have this foolish teaching that Jesus went to heaven straight away is deception by the devil as in the beginning! That's the same reason you have psychics and mediums. These are instruments of the devil my friends.

@@stonemuk If soul sleep is true, can you please explain the following:
1 Samuel 28 - In which Samuels spirit/ghost comes up from the earth and speaks with Saul. How is Samuel able to come up from the earth and talk with Saul if soul sleep is true?
Luke 16:19-31 - Jesus tells a story about two people (the rich man and Lazarus) that died and after they were dead, they were both concious and aware, the rich man was tormented in flames and Lazarus was comforted with Abraham, they see each other and communicate... I know some say this is simply a parable, but the thing with parables is; Jesus doesn't give names, but here in this story he does.
Philippians 1:21&23 - Paul says that for him to die is 'gain', and he goes on to say that he has a desire to depart and to be with Christ. So to Paul, dying is gaining something, suggesting that departing from the body is to be with Christ. If soul sleep is true, then when you die you are gaining nothing and you will not depart from your body and be with Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:8 - "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.". How can you be absent from your body and be present with the Lord is soul sleep is true?
Revelation 6:9-11 - The souls of those who have died for Christ are under the alter in heaven asking when they will be avenged, they are told to rest for a little longer and are given white robes. These souls of the dead appear to be concious and aware in heaven.
It is true that the dead know nothing, certainly not their bodies, and also it would seem their soul/spirit is unaware of what is happening on the earth after they have died.

If you want to understand any subject you must go to the first place it is mentioned and follow up from there. The Scriptures which came later cannot contradict that which is already established in Genesis.
      KJV Genesis 2:7
7 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
      KJV Genesis 3:19
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
      KJV John 5:28-29
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
      KJV Psalms 146:1-4
1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul.
2 While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.
3 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.
4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.
      KJV Ecclesiastes 3:18-21
18 I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.
19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
20 All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.
21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?
What is clear is that man was formed from the dust of the earth. He only became a living soul/being after God breathed the breath of life into his nostrils. God does not say to Adam that he's dust and breath, simply dust thou art!
Solomon in Ecclesiastes is emphatic that there's no difference between man and beast, they all go back to dust where they came from.
He's clear also that the same thing happens to their ' spirits'. Man's spirit is no different from a cow's. Unless you are suggesting that a cow's spirit also goes to heaven, which would contradict the Scriptures!
Jesus himself said that the hour is coming when they that are in the graves would hear his voice and come to life meaning that they cannot be alive in any shape or form except for the few examples already mentioned, Moses and the resurrected saints at the Lord's own Resurrection!
About Samuel you do not seriously think that was the real Samuel 😳. If you do, I suggest you stop trying to teach anyone until you are properly equipped with understanding the basics!
Samuel's thoughts perished the very day he died!
You'll remember the serpent/devil telling Eve she would not surely die?
He's working through the fallen angels to perpetuate that lie. That's the reason God gave a penalty of death to anyone who consulted mediums and anyone with a familiar spirit.
Also this would contradict your earlier assertion that the spirit goes to God yet Samuel comes from the earth. KJV 1 Samuel 28:13
13 And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth.
      Those who set themselves against the government of God have entered into an alliance with the archapostate, and he will exercise his power and cunning to captivate the senses and mislead the understanding. He will cause everything to appear in a false light. {PP 635}

@@stonemuk Thanks for the reply and the time it must have taken to type all of that.👍
There is a common theme that I am seeing with the verses you posted; they all seem to be taking about what happens to the body when you die. I agree that the body returns to the earth, returns to dust and as such all thoughts cease.
"Jesus himself said that the hour is coming when they that are in the graves would hear his voice and come to life" - I have no issue with that, everyone will be resurrected, speaking of their bodies.
"...meaning that they cannot be alive in any shape or form" - Mark 12:26-27 - "And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?
27 He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the LIVING: ye therefore do greatly err." - Jesus says that God is not the God of the dead, but of the living, even though at the time of Moses, all three, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob had been long buried. Jesus seems to be suggesting that they are alive in some way.
Also, you gave no explanation to any of the verses I quoted. The only one you mentioned was about Samuel, suggesting that this was not Samuel, even though the Bible clearly records that this was in fact Samuel that Saul was speaking to, im just reading what it says, and it says that both Saul and Samuel spoke to each other. The text does not say that this wasn't Samuel, it says that it is Samuel speaking. Even the medium that Saul went to see seemed surprised.
"Samuel's thoughts perished the very day he died! " - Yes, in terms of his body. Still I feel you have to explain Samuel speaking with Saul, and without any snarky comments such as "you do not seriously think that was the real Samuel 😳".
Can you also explain 2 Corinthians 12:2-4 - " I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. 3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)
4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter." Paul appears to be suggesting that there is some part that can be out of the body and go somewhere else. How can you be out of the body and be somewhere else if the body is all there is?
As for the devil telling Eve she would not surely die; That was indeed a lie, there was a two fold death, one, physical death as in the body, and two a spiritual death, as in being seperated from God because of sin.
"Those who set themselves against the government of God have entered into an alliance with the archapostate, and he will exercise his power and cunning to captivate the senses and mislead the understanding. He will cause everything to appear in a false light. {PP 635}" - What is that? PP 635? Are you relying on some authority other than the Bible?

1 Pet: "proclamation to the imprisoned spirits" so Hell or Hades? Eph: "the lower parts of the earth" so Hades? Luk: "Paradise" not necessarily Heaven. Gospel of Nicodemus: "the underworld." Apocalypse of Peter: "Hell," for harrowing. Roman Catholic Tradition: "the abode of the dead" inc Hell for its Harrowing, and "Limbo of the Fathers" to free those who died before His Resurrection. Lutheran: Similar to RC, but not suffering to do, just victory's proclamation. Eastern Orthodox: "Hell," for harrowing with importance of victory over death. Anglican/Methodist: "Hell" is credal. Reformed/Calvinist: Judicial separation from God. All the above said, Jesus' contemporaries likely would have believed along lines of then Jewish beliefs of "sheol," a shadowy realm of the dead. Related to sheol, some Jewish apocalyptic writings describe a future judgment, appearing to blend together prophetic traditions of Hebrew Scripture, the post-exilic trauma and hope, as well as the dualism and last judgment ideas of Zoroastrianism and eschatology, cosmology, and divine intermediaries of Hellenistic thought.
Firsthand accounts would seem to be impossible and there's no way to use consensus-based means to verify the truthfulness of any of the above.
It all depends upon how much rigor one wants to put into believing as many true things as possible and as few false things as possible. Alternatively, if one backs into beliefs through other methods, it's a smorgasbord, even among the alternatives presented by the authors of the New Testament.

BIBLE says: DEAD are DEAD till they are raised. Dead go nowhere!
Dead this is still dead and shall remain dead till the judgment day!
Only then he will be raised from dead and his name will be in the book of life….. As Jesus promised him.
Original text had no commas, and comma in verse is in place, changing meaning of the sentence. It should read:
"43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee Today, thou shalt be with me in paradise." (Luk 23:43)
    ⁉️ When?
‼️ Only when that time comes!
That same day Jesus and all crucified were put into place where dead are buried, Jesus was sealed in the seplucre and guard was put in front of it. He was really dead for 3 days and 3 nights. 72 hours dead.
Jesus died in his mortal body. God raised him and gave him immortal body, as we shall receive when we see him face to face.
    ✅"20 But now is Christ
    risen from the dead,
    and become the
    ✔️firstfruits of them
    ✔️that slept.
    21 For since
    🔷by man came death,
    🔷by man came also the
    resurrection of the dead.
    22 For as in
🔷Adam all die, even so in
🔷Christ shall all be made alive.
    23 But every man in
    his own order:
    ✔️Christ the firstfruits;
    ✔️afterward they
    ✔️that are Christ's
    🔘at his coming."
    (1. Corinthians 15:20-23)
Jesus had to be dead as any other man…. dead souls do not move, do not speak, do not go any place, because God said: “you shall surely die” and the serpent, devil, satan said the opposite and Eve believed the lie! Many still believe the lie and trust the serpent, believing that
🔳 DEAD are not dead as the serpent said….
Word of God is clear on that what God said - always believe only God and not his and our enemy.
    Every soul dies…..
    Every soul is sinner….
    ✅"4 Behold, all
    🔘souls are mine; as the
🔘soul of the father, so also the
🔘soul of the son is mine: the
    🔘soul that sinneth,
    ‼️it shall die."‼️
    (Ezekiel 18:4)
    ✅"21 But now the righteousness
of God without the law is manifested,
    being witnessed by the law
    and the prophets;
    22 Even the righteousness
of God which is by faith
    of Jesus Christ unto all
and upon all them that believe:
    for there is no difference:
    23 For
    ‼️all have sinned‼️,
    and come short
    of the glory of God;"

In the basic Greek text, the Bible does not speak of Yeshua/Jesus being resurrected "on the first day of the week" or "on a Sunday", but "on the one/first of the Sabbaths" (Mk 16:2; Lk 24:1; Jn 20:1), that is, the first of the series of exactly 7 Sabbaths to be counted each year between Passover (15 Nisan) and Pentecost. Mark makes it extremely simple, saying "early on the first Sabbath" (Mark 16:9) in the singular genitive (early of the first Sabbath). You can't say it any clearer than that. When was 2023 the "first Sabbath?" Every Jewish calendar shows it (April 7/8, 2023). All 7 Sabbaths can be seen sin any online Jewish calendar.
It is very sad that not even the people of Israel do not know the calendar described in Leviticus 23, so they cannot know what the "first Sabbath" is, but instead think of the Sunday of the Pope.
Yeshua said "3 days and 3 nights," which was the sign of Jonah, not 1.5 days of the pope. The Good Friday-Easter-Sunday teaching is a pagan teaching. The Bible teaches the "first Sabbath" and there are extremely many correctly translated Bibles worldwide. Even the Luther Bible says "in the evening of the same Sabbath (not Sunday)..." (John 20:19). Yeshua knows what he is saying and no one has the right to twist the sign of the Messiah (3 days and 3 nights).

So did Jesus die or not? You're confusing, he said to thief on the cross today I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise, doesn't mean that day. Like I said to somebody, I say to you today, I will pay you back PS that's what he was saying because it's obvious Jesus the first one in heaven beginning of Book of John. So what died his soul is Spirit or is Flash body same thing?

I certainly do not believe that he went straight to heaven during the 3 days between his death and resurrection, let me use the scriptures on why I suggest so.
Remember: in Luke 23: 43, Jesus said today you will be with me in paradise, this shows us that that very day after death, they would be together. But again after resurrection, in John 20: 17,Jesus told Mary not to touch him coz he had not yet returned to his father, this shows us that in Paradise God was not there coz he (Jesus) would have seen him(father) and he would've allowed her to touch him.
Go further to John 20: 21(NIV),...As the father has sent me....has here is present participle showing us now he has been/seen the father, and could be touched. In Eph. 4: 7-10 tells me that he descended on the lower parts of the earth and led the captives (the saints who were held in Paradise, like father Abraham and Lazarus- remember the story.)in his train. paradise was now moved to heaven, see 2Corithians 12: 2-4, Paul was confused if it was heaven or paradise.
In conclusion Jesus himself said in John 3:13, no one has ever gone to heaven..... showing us that at that time saints like Father Abraham were still in Abraham bosom(paradise) until he (Jesus) died for their sins.
I am certain, Much work was taking place before resurrection, since also that is when he went to preach to the spirits.... see 1Peter 3:19. , not to get saved but to warn them that.. he has given us power and authority over them. What a savior!😊

In traditional Christian theology, the Harrowing of Hell, or "the descent of Christ into Hell" or Hades, is the saving act of Christ to the souls in Hades between His Crucifixion and Resurrection. In triumphant descent, Christ preached and bestowed salvation to the souls held captive there since the beginning of the world.

Amen! Yes, mchapman132, we chant from Pascha to Pentecost "Christ has risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and upon those in the tombs bestowing life."
All of you who comment here, find the icon of Christ's victory over Death and study it. One arm is raising Adam and the other is raising Eve representing the salvation of mankind. His feet are trampling down the broken gates of Hades. There are broken chains and keys scattered all about the black void of hades, indicating the salvation of those in the tombs and cells of Hades being freed. In some of the icons there is an old man bound in chains representing Death being conquered, trampled and taken captive.
This is what the Lover of mankind did for our souls. This is what the Godman did for our salvation. This is what the Son of God did for all of creation - freed it from Death's grip.
Now, go and live your life in the freedom He has wrought for you.

I was taught He went to Paradise aka Abraham’s bosom in Sheol. Sheol/Hades was split in 2 sides. Paradise and the place of torment/hell. He descended into Sheol and did many things. He went to the pit to talk to the fallen angels and then he took paradise and all the saints there…..to Heaven. No one was in Heaven yet because Jesus is the ONLY way to the Father. Ta da!

NO, NOT according to scripture. You even said that Jesus rose from the DEAD, which means he died.
    1.
    no longer alive.
    "a dead body"
    2.
(of a place or time) characterized by a lack of activity or excitement.
"Brussels isn't dead after dark, if you know where to look"
So, Jesus WAS DEAD, if he didn't die then we wouldn't have salvation. Jesus died on the cross and his spirit went back to God who gave it.
    Ecclesiastes 9:10
    King James Version
10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; *for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.*
0:49 The bible clearly tells us what happens when we die, including Jesus, our soul DIES and our spirit which BELONGS to God returns to him and our bodies go back to dust.
    Ecclesiastes 12:7
“Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.”
Paradise isn't heaven and it also doesn't say that they will be in the, "paradise of God".
    1.
*(in some religions)* heaven as the ultimate abode of the just.
"martyrs who die in battle with the ungodly earn instant transmission to paradise"
the abode of Adam and Eve before the Fall in the biblical account of the Creation; the Garden of Eden.
    2.
*an ideal or idyllic place or state.*
Jesus is speaking of a state of peacefulness, death.
    John 20:17
“Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; *for I am not yet ascended to my Father:* but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.”
Jesus's Father is in heaven NOT paradise. The bible doesn't say that in the beginning God create the paradise and the earth.
So, Jesus didn't go to heaven when he DIED on the cross and neither did the other two who were crucified also.
    John 3:13
    King James Version
13 And *no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven,* even the Son of man which is in heaven.
But Jesus hadn't ascended up to heaven during the time he was DEAD (John 20:17)
THE BIBLE CLEARLY TELLS US THAT HELL IS THE GRAVE not some fabled and pagan place of eternal place of punishment (Ecclesiastes 9:10).
WHAT IS THE PUNISHMENT FOR SIN EVERYONE?
    Death, NOT ETERNAL PUNISHMENT.
    Romans 6:23
    King James Version
23 For *the wages of sin is death;* but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
2:45 This guy falsely claims that angels can't be saved but the verse he gives says no such thing. Here is the verse that he gave:
    Hebrews 2:16
    King James Version
16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
Yet, God is sovereign and can do anything that He wills:
    Matthew 19:26
    King James Version
26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but *with God all things are possible.*
5:03 Again untrue scripture. ...no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven (John 3:13).
5:33 Jesus is God but he's the son of god and the son of man but he's NOT GOD THE FATHER. God the Father doesn't have a god but Jesus does. Who does this guy think sits at the right hand of God? Who did Jesus pray to, himself? Who raised Jesus from the DEAD?
If you have questions about the bible ask someone who actually understands the bible not some guy who uses the wrong scriptures and doesn't have a witness or two in other scriptures that also have the same meaning.
The guy asks at the end of his video, want to learn more? NO THANK YOU!

Where does anyone go when he dies. NOWHERE. The dead CEASE TO EXIST as God decreed (Genesis 3:19, Ecclesiastes 9:10).
Jesus too had ceased to exist when he died. Here is Peter's testimony on how Jesus came back into existence.
Acts 2:32 God resurrected this Jesus, and of this we are all witnesses.
It was after God resurrected him back into his angel spirit form that Jesus could go anywhere. (1 Peter 3:18).
He could visit the demon angels. Walk through locked rooms. Disappear at will.

Just because this generation is or is not a certain way is NOT an excuse to give up on relationships. We love in a world that is sinful, and HAS been. There are only 2 major Commandments that guide ALL we do on this earth - love God and love others. Our families are NOT disposable! We have to work at keeping in touch and keeping those important relationships. Honoring our parents doesn't end when we become adults. Short of REAL abuse, parents who took care of us, raised us, spent their resources on us, cared for us should be honored. Estrangement has become a TOO common thing. Everyone is "toxic" these days if someone doesn't agree with them. It's ridiculous, sinful and harmful. I am talking generally, and would not support cruelty or meaness from parents! However, I have personally witnessed cruelty and abuse FROM adult children TO their parents. Relationships involve at least 2. BOTH sides need to be kind!!!

Here is an inconvenient truth for many of the so called believers who hate the idea Christ went into hell to preach redemption for the wicked.
AND HE MADE HIS GRAVE WITH THE WICKED, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. Isaiah 53:9 There, OK? Christ was in the grave with the wicked, because it the wicked who need salvation. Yes Christ's Spirit was in hell, because the Scriptures tell us that Christ is in ALL things. Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all. Col 3:11

I thought. Because Christ said not to touch Him on the 3rd day when he rose again because he didn't go to the Father yet. So he went to set the captives free in Abraham's bosom ... I thought ... ?
What is meant by Abrahams bosom?
: the abode of bliss in the other world : paradise. so called in Jewish writings and in the New Testament, in Luke 16:22 (Revised Standard Version)
"Bosom of Abraham" refers to the place of comfort in the biblical Sheol (or Hades in the Greek Septuagint version of the Hebrew scriptures from around 200 BC, and therefore so described in the New Testament) where the righteous dead abided prior to Jesus' resurrection

No one should even argue over where Jesus was during those 3 days.
People need to only focus on diligently serving God by spreading His message of salvage and praying for those people that God will shine His mercy upon them.
    John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever put their faith in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    Ephesian 2:8-9
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not by works, so that no one can boast.
    James 2:14-26
14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: show me thy faith without thy works, and I will show thee my faith by my works.
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

#1. There was no Punctuation in the original Hebrew text. The comma should have been added after the word 'Today' not before. "I say to you today, that you will be with me in Heaven. Jesus did not go to Heaven when He died and neither did the thief on the cross. We know this because in John 20:17 Jesus said; John 20:17. 17. “Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.” Jesus ascended to Heaven After the Resurrection not before. Also, The two thieves on the Cross did not die that day. Their legs were broken and they were taken away #2. We do not go to Heaven when we die. The 'Spirit' is the 'Breath of Life' that God gives to each of us. The reality is that slats of wood and nails assembled in a certain way and held together with the nails make a box. If you remove the nails, there is no longer a box. When God formed Man from the Dust, He then breathed into the formed dust the breath of life and man became a living soul. When the breath of life, or spirit, leaves the body, the body returns to dust and is no longer a living soul and the Breath of Life or Spirit returns to God. Ecclesiastes clearly states in Ecclesiastes 9:5 “For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.” Plus, when you say a living part of someone goes to Heaven, you are then reaffirming Satan's first temptation of Eve that began Sin on this Earth when He said in Genesis, Genesis 3:4 “And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:” When Christians say that as soon as we die we are misleading what the Bible says. We lay in the grave until Resurrection day when EVERY Eye shall see Him. It clearly states in Thessalonians, 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17. 14. "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord". If we are already in Heaven, there is no need for the Resurrection that is proclaimed many times throughout the Bible. Reunion Day in Heaven will be Glorious beyond all Glory when Gods promise to His Faithful is made Manifest with these words from First Corinthians, 1 Corinthians 15:55-58. 55. "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56. The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ". Abba Father, Amen.

He needs to study a bit more. Not just a bit, but a whole lot more.
First, Christ's body did not lay in the grave. That would have allowed decay, Psalms 16:10; Acts 2:27 The body begins to decay approximately 3 hours after death. So this wrong teaching from this man.
Another point he is wrong about is that Christ went to preach to the people not the fallen angels. 1st Peter 3:19-20 says this.

The only issue is that Jesus died and was buried for 3 days and then he remained on earth for 40 days after his resurrection from death and was seen by many. And scripture says no one ascended to heaven BEFORE Jesus did! He was the first to accent to heaven,
    It says this….in Act 1:1-3
For the next 40 days He taught and ministered to His disciples in what must have been an intensely powerful experience, preparing them for His Ascension into heaven. The Savior's words during these 40 days provide a wonderful road map for us as we contemplate His assured triumphal return to earth.
And in John 3:13 it’s says 13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven-the Son of Man
So that makes it impossible for the one thief to be in Paradise that day? What Jesus promised him was he would be in paradise at some point, but not that day!!!
    Not “today” as you think.

Jesus was in fact in Hell. He paid the full price for sin. Acts 2:27 mentions this along with it's counterpart in Psalms 16:10 "For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption". Also, you have a type of Christ in Jacobs son Joseph where his brothers put him in a pit without water (Genesis 37:24) If you read Revelations 1:18 you will read that He has the keys to hell and death. The reason why Christ has those keys because He went there and got them. Let me ask you this question is the penalty of sin just physical death? No the penalty for sin is also hell. Christ paid the full price and because He did those of us who are in Him will one day be able to say, "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?"

Speaking of three days. It took usually took three days for people that were crucified to die. There is no punctuation in the Greek. Most pastors put a comma after "today." And they quote that Jesus said to the thief, "I say to you, this day you shall be with me in paradise." Luke 23:43. However, "Pilate marveled that Jesus was already dead." Mark 15:42-44 So they did not die the same day. If you change the comma, there is a new meaning. "I say to you this day, you shall be with me in paradise." And where is paradise (garden)? Did Jesus bunge jump to heaven and back? Did he receive his kingdom while he was dead?

I am not religious. You have to consider the bible and how it’s been altered and misunderstood and misinterpreted. Once a human being dies their spirit will spend about 3 days interpreting their life. Assessing their actions and learning from the effects they has on everything. They then pass INTO SPIRIT and continue their spiritual journey. Or if this poses a problem for them they may stay earthbound. Religion, in my humble opinion, is another form of human control. Take your blinders off and consider ALL ANGLES. There’s so much good true information out there…..

Jesus is for the living and the dead.
Jn 5 : 28 Jesus talk to the dead in the graveyard.
    2. He (Jesus) also goes to proclaim to the spirit in prison 1 Peter 3 : 19-20
Spirit in the time of Noh.

You're wrong! You are making claims you simply can't back up. He told the thief on the cross next to him that he, that is the thief, will be with him, that is Jesus in paradise. Jesus is fact says, "I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise." Luke 23:43. It's important to note here that paradise is not in capitals so it is not speaking about a certain location known as 'paradise.' Our best understanding of paradise is in 2Corinthians 12:1-4 where the Bible states: "This boasting will do no good , but I must go on. I will reluctantly tell about visions and revelations from the Lord. I was caught up to the third heaven fourteen years ago. ...But I do know I was caught up to paradise,(again paradise not in capital letters so not a specific or unique place) and heard things so astounding that they cannot be expressed in words, things no human is allowed to tell. It seems to be a unique place, but since the word 'paradise' is not capitalized, it just can't be. Let's just agree that paradise is a special place in heaven known by God and his angels, and it's a place we would all like to be!! Amen!

If you're going to answer questions about the Bible, maybe you should be better prepared! You said that the thief went to heaven with Jesus right after they died, yet, the Bible clearly says in John 20:17, "Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God." And in John 3:13, "And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven."
You are using the words 'paradise' and 'heaven' as if they mean the same thing... they do not. The Greek word for paradise is 'paradeisos', it means a park or a garden. The Greek word for heaven is 'ouranos', it means (a) the visible heavens: the atmosphere, the sky, the starry heavens, (b) the spiritual heavens. Two completely different things.
So, where did Jesus' spirit go when he died on the cross? We can't know for sure because nowhere in the Bible does it clearly tell us. You mentioned two possibilities, but there is a third also, it's that His spirit stayed with His body in the tomb. Then His body and spirit was resurrected on the third day, together as one, just like human spirits and bodies will be resurrected together to meet Jesus in the air!

When Jesus said to the thief in Luke 23:43 'verily I say unto thee today shalt thou be with me in paradise', it can be read in one of two ways. The first is that paradise would be entered that same day. The second is that whatever Jesus was saying about paradise he was saying it unto him today. The thief had asked 'remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom' which the thief would assume was at a future time. So when Jesus said 'today' he might have meant: 'I don't need to wait until I come into my kingdom to remember you, I'll tell you right now, today, that you will be with me at that time.
This second understanding accords with Bible teaching that the person has no consciousness after death, and has to wait for the resurrection at the last day when Jesus returns (Ecc 9:5, Ps 6:5, Ps 115:17). In John 11 when Lazarus died, Mary acknowledged that he would rise again at the last day, and not that he was in heaven. If he had gone to heaven he would have been disappointed to have to return again to mortality four days later when Jesus raised him from the dead.‭ ‭

Jesus said I give up up My spirit today. Luke 23:46. Holiness and evil are impossible And to the thief on the cross He said today you will be with me in paradise.Luke 24:43
A Holy God would not go to hell as some demonizations teach. Although He endured hell by taking our sins upon Himself.

    No Jesus did not go to heaven when he died, but when he arose from the dead;
    KJV John 20:16-17
16 Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
On the cross the thing that happened that day was the assurance of salvation to the thief , not the ascension!

LOL; you're way off Hades & hell are 2 different places. Jesus went to hades, the pace of the dead; also known as Abraham's Bosom, also known as paradise... Jesus told the world where He was going on the cross, but like so many things that He said, people don't listen!

Thanks for your comments concerning the three days of Jesus in the grave. However, in John 20:17 Jesus in speaking to Mary, says "touch me not for I am not yet ascended to my Father..." This would imply that Jesus had not been in heaven (in the flesh and spirit) or that paradise is a separate place than heaven as promised to the thief on the cross. The story of Lazarus can also be referenced (Abraham's bosom) as paradise and not heaven. Where was Abraham and the prophets (who appeared in conference with Jesus in the garden as His apostles watched and ask to build an alter) if not in paradise?

Your analogy is interesting but I would like to pose that conclusion to the Luke 16:19-26 parable by Jesus concerning the rich man and the sick poor man named Lazarus. At the death of the poor man the angels took the spirit of the poor man to Abraham's bosom but at the rich mans death he was delivered to hell (hades> a place [state] for departed souls or hell, grave). The rich man calls out to "Father Abraham" to solicit that Lazarus should bring him some water but Abraham responds negatively to the rich man. "In your life you had your good things and Lazarus had evil things but now Lazarus is comforted and you are tormented. And beside all this between us and you there is a great gulf fixed so we cannot cross over to you and you can't cross over to us." There is a difference in destination that Lazarus and the rich man arrived at. Lazarus if comforted and the rich man is tormented and neither are necessarily in heaven. How it all works out is not distinctly revealed but Hebrews 9:27 says "it is appointed once unto men to die then the judgment."

Luke 23:43 can be misunderstood. I think its important to remember Jesus says paradise and not heaven. Indicating a different place other than heaven. From other passages in the Bible you can say there are different levels of heavens. Paul talks about the third heaven - 2 Cor 12:2. So paradise does not necessarily mean heaven.

    So where is Paradise?
Because when Jesus was resurrected, He said to his followers that he hasn't gone to the father yet, and remain with them for 40 days before go to Heaven again.
    John 20:17
Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

Easy. He was preaching to the souls in hades. All who came before in history were not ever barred from the resurrection. Not just those who lived in rhe age of noah, but all who were faithful in the coming messiah.

Are you sure that Jesus Christ went to Heaven with the thief?
    (1)
I thought paradise and Heaven were two separate places.
    (2)
Doesn't the KJV Bible tells us that no one has gone into heaven or come out of heaven except he who is from there? Meaning Jesus Christ?
    (3)
If that thief went into heaven, meaning that paradise and Heaven are one and the same then the bible just contradicted itself...So. are you sure paradise and Heaven are one and the same?

Jesus unconscious spirit went to the father Jesus was dead for 3 days, dead dead not alive not aware , not some where playing cards with spirits , not in heaven, not in paradise, but dead , if you think he was somewhere aware, not dead than he didnt die for your sins and I would question if your saved ! we have to put our trust and faith into 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, death, burial and resurrection, but if you got what death is wrong are you saved!!! the theif on the cross the comma goes after today, luke23:43 And Jesus said to him, “Truly I tell you today, You will be with Me in Paradise.”…

Where was Jesus in 3 days.
Jesus teach and preach to the dead in the grave yard.
Jn 5. :28 Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear His voice.
1 Peter 3 : 19 - 20 He preach to the dpirit in prison by the time of Noh.
