- Keith is a complex character. His family, relationships and arc are all important. As said in Keith's vlog he pushes people away before they reject him. The reason he joined the Blade of Marmora and left Team Voltron was because he knew he wasn't a good leader. Lance coming to him with the problem of too many Paladins not enough Lions made him realize the weakest link needed to go and that was him. He let himself go before the others did in favour of Shiro. Keith in someway does have the Blade of Marmora mindset. He puts the mission over the individual in most cases. Back on Arus, when Allura got captured, when ten solar systems were in danger, etc, etc. He learned to not open up to people because of his parents leaving him. His mother left to defend the universe likely, but I think his father left less willingly. The only people he's got a fairly close bond with right now are Shiro and Lance. However Shiro's wavering. Overall though, the Paladins are Keith's family. He needs to understand that and figure out what connections he needs to keep and break.

Keith is the most developed character on the show in my opinion alon with pidge, and I love him so much, he’s super interesting. A little sad we don’t get that kind of development for everyone else but it could be coming.... fingers crossed. Release hunk and lance character development you COWARDS

Marinette I want backstory for more characters and I know that dreamworks is capable of it because they’ve done it for a lot of characters. Voltron is supposed to be an ensemble show so it would be really awesome to get that kind of development for more characters like lance and hunk, and even shiro

I wish that was so but Allura actually had the most character development. If I wasn’t typing this on a phone I’d go into more detail but let’s just say that I wish her development didn’t come at the cost of a lot of Keith’s potential.

Is it possible that Keith joined the Blade of Marmora not just to escape his responsabilities as the head of Voltron but to also look for his mother? We all know that he was just as surprised to find out that he was really galra as everybody else, so he probably would have been in an emotional crisis to find out where he came from. Now that he really joined the Blades, why not look for her as well?
He doesn't feel very welcomed in the group anymore, especialy with Shiro pushing him all the time, and even if Lance has the stronget link with him after Shiro, the others were just too upset, and Lance would back up his friends as well, making Keith feel even worse and lost. By joining the Blades, he and others are embracing what he finds difficult to accept like his galra side and past connections with the galras, and since he also hasn't any major jobs in voltron, he would probably spend a lot of time thinking about his past, the process of losing and 'finding' Shiro and how he got to be where he was. also, he is indeed a loner, so he would spend a lot of time alone and with nobody to turn to about these thoughts

Lance's rival with Keith is due to being constantly compared to/with him at the Garrison. They barely knew each other before rescuing Shiro. This is shown when they talk as they are rescuing him from the hospital tent.

I agree completely with Kieth. I can see Lotor finding ways to get Kieth on his side; but when the Paladins meet the Generals, I can see him actually bonding with all of them (especially Acxa) because they are also Part-Galra and are outsiders much like him.
I so wish they did that. Dammit, I could have written parts of this show better!
I believe that Keith is a great leader. Sure, his style is "shut up and trust me" or "follow my lead", but that's different, not irresponsible. If anything that style would, in the long run, have motivated the other members of the team to pick up leadership roles more than Shiro would allow (especially Pidge and Hunk).
I agree. He just need to control his temperament. I don't think it was the right thing to have put pressure on Keith to be the leader when he was still sad and unstable because of what happened with Shiro. However, we have seen that Keith can be a good leader if they do not force him, as when he led the rebels in the last episode (EP6S4).
Agreed. That style of leadership can be just as effective as Shiro’s. Keith’s main issue to become a good leader in my opinion is just controlling his impulsive nature/temper and taking the blinders off. He gets too focused on winning the battle, he doesn’t always see the big picture. If he can learn that being a good leader sometimes means calling a retreat for the good of the team rather than pushing through a clearly losing mission, he’ll be fine. His leadership style is fine, he just needs to improve his execution of it

"She'll be here soon" was literally feeding off Keith's fear that his mom was Galra. Because Galra to Keith were the monsters/aggressors at that point so "she'll be here soon" was literally referencing the attacking troops as his mom being a part of that approaching army.

I just realized, Lance says “plot a course for our escape” and ‘Shiro’ shuts it down... then 10 min later, they escape the planet with no time to stop the bomb... ‘Shiro’ tried to make his own plans and Lance got frustrated... you said “Keith uses the other’s ideas”... it reminds me of a saying “The best Leaders, know when to follow”

It may be the wings of Voltron. But that's more up to the Creative Team. It's just a theory right now .
I think Keith is in Act II of his Hero's Journey, and his time with the Blade will help season him and make him confident enough to return to the Black Lion with no more doubts about his leadership ability.

This is your longest video but it is also my favorite. When I first started watching Voltron I stayed unbiased and tried not to pick a favorite. But as the seasons progressed Keith just became so much more interesting and complex than I thought and he began to stand out to me. He is not just your typical hotheaded angsty teenager with a mysterious past; he is so, so much more and I think we still don't know a lot about him. He just keeps getting better honestly.

I agree with everything you said except the blade of Marmora thing. I think it’s just Keith who thought of the sacrifice, their really was no other way (not that I agree with it) but, he BOM are cautious and they don’t want their members to just kill themselves.

The problem with Shiro being a clone right now is that all he has to do is to freeze/lose consciousness during battle to let the Voltron be defeated, then captured or destroyed. Bah, he could just take the Black Lion away to leave the team and the Alliance helpless against the Galra. I just don't see why he doesn't do any od this.

It'd be intresting seeing "Shiro", Zarkon AND Keith trying to conect the most with the Black Lion, since the three of them were it's paladins, but is unlikely since the real Shiro alredy kinda broke the connection between Zarkon and Black, something similar should happen with the new fake Shiro and Keith. @fictionalcrystals I would love to hear your thougths on this idea :)

I know I’m a little late to this but what makes his (Keith’s) backstory sadder is that his father died after going into a burning building.
I think it’s cute that the paladins have seemingly become the family Keith had always been lacking. I think Shiro was like a role model to what Keith wanted to be and started to see him as a mentor to give him guidance and push him forward. Lance definitely is another strong part of his growth. I think of his rivalry as these two wanting to improve by becoming stronger while helping the other. I just hope that Pidge, Hunk, And Allura develop their relationship with him to help him grow more.

it is quite odd considering from the short amount of his father that we saw he looked to be about Shiro's high, which is taller than Keith, I figure that the galra comes from Keith's mothers side but I could be wrong but if she was were Keith's galra line comes from then it would be easy to say she is tall most galra are taller than Shiro minus a few
