- Sorry I haven't uploaded in a while! I've honestly just been procrastinating... but I've finally made a new video.
Voltron: Legendary Defender has several teams that mimic the seasons 1 - 2 Paladins: the Paladins of Old, Zarkon and Shiro, Alfor and Keith, Trigel and Pidge, Blaytz and Lance, and Gyrgan and Hunk. Along with Lotor and his ex-generals: Lotor and Shiro, Acxa and Keith, Narti and Pidge, Ezor and Lance, and Zethrid and Hunk. The new MFE fighter pilots and Veronica are no exception. Veronica is Shiro's mirror. She's the oldest and most experienced of the group; the only one that's not a cadet. James Griffin is Keith's mirror. They're naturally talented pilots that may come off as jerks when you first meet them, but aren't really that bad once you get to know them. Ina Leifsdottir and Pidge are analytical - they're the brains of their teams. Nadia Rizavi and Lance both share energetic competitive personalities. Ryan Kinkade and Hunk are more into observing, they didn't really want to be involved in war as fighter pilots.
Team Atlas also has their own versions of Allura and Coran: Takashi Shirogane and Sam Holt.

Finally back! I have my issues with season 7, but there were some things I seriously enjoyed. I loved the MFE pilots! Especially Rizavi.
Also watched Adventure Time’s final episode and bawled my eyes out despite only being a casual viewer of the show.
I strongly agree with you about the MFE pilots being the new team voltron. And honestly, if they do become paladins, you wouldn't see me complaining. I love the team (except for James lmao) and I think they would do a good job replacing the paladins. Especially since they're all still a bit shook after the last battle. I also noticed this:
Shiro was an officer at the garrison, so is Veronica.
The others were fighter pilots, so are the MFE's.
I'm not really sure but I headcanon the replacements as:
Veronica: Black or Blue
Griffin: Black or red
Leifsdottir: Green
Rizavi: Yellow or blue
Kinkade: Yellow or Blue
This video was worth the wait! I heard about the MFE pilots paralleling the paladins but never managed to find a proper explanation of it so your video helped me a lot ! May I ask if you'll be doing a video about the points you didn't really enjoyed in the season or a video about lgbt rep or the topic of character development? :)

After 7 seasons I got really attached to our fellow paladins. If the MFEs get to pilot the Voltron lions I'll probably be disappointed. They should have their own Voltron
I wouldn't mind a Vehicle Voltron series if it's made well.
with the threat level the new robeasts (if that is the correct term) represent they need an experianced team who has unlocked most of Voltrons power, like the current Paladins seem to have, I could possibly see 1-2 of the MFE pilots temporaraly taking over during the season if the palidins get seriously hurt but I cannot see them all taking over as the Palidins of Voltron at least not before the final battle, as if they did the team would not stand a chance.
I would favor them getting their own Voltron (e.g. Lotar's Voltron be recovered and modified or another transreality comet is found).
Pride of the Lions part 2 had a clip showing the Balmera arive in Earth orbit so crystal power should no longer be a problem.
I really don’t give a shit about the mfe pilots. Voltron already has a massive cast of characters who don’t have enough personality, backstory or screen time. We don’t need anymore. New, more fleshed out characters shouldn’t be introduced so late into a show, it should be giving some more light into and screen time to less fleshed out characters.
Kolivan has been here since season 2 and we still don’t have a character profile for him or any sort of backstory into the blade of marmora who are in my opinion more deserving of some sort of novel, comic, sequel or prequel explaining their existence, motives and origin. I’m still salty about how the blades and Kolivan have been treated. Kolivan smiling at Keith in the last episode was much appreciated though, let that fucking man rest for Christ sake.
MellowTeaa season 8 will be the end. it will be the last season unless voltron has a sequal in the works.
Honestly, the only way I would want more focus on these characters is in their own sequel or spin-off series. I care too much about our current cast of characters and the many many plot threads they still need to finish in ONE SEASON revolving around the paladins. I don't need any time taken away from that in s8, they already have too little time to do that in 13 episodes. So... No. Make it a sequel, I am fine with it. Make it a spin-off, I am fine with it. Take away from the paladins' screen time in s8, and I might end up resenting these characters, for no reason other than them stealing screen time. So... Yeah.

introducing new characters so late into the show who already have full names and fleshed out personalities while we still dont know lance, keith and hunk's full names really pisses me off ngl. I cant get attached to them because i simply do not care about these new characters beyond how they interact with our main paladins this show is about the paladins of voltron I'd like to know their stories. Voltron makes no sense to me anymore.

You have to think of it like(I'm about to spell it wrong) Gouren lagen at the end of that you see who are the new operators and you don't get to see them fight just get in their seats. She bad with explaining but all shows that have a team of more than 3 you use the same formula, smarts, bravery, heart etc....... I just hope the don't make the atlas dosent combine to voltron that would be super cheesy.

I am personally against this theory. Although the MFE pilots seem cool, I cant bring myself to care about them. They were introduced so late and Im semi mad at them for stealing some precious screen time for paladins who didnt have their arcs fully resolved yet. (Im talking to you Lance and Hunk)I wouldnt mind a spinoff series but if they end up taking over Voltron I'll be beyond disappointed. After learning that the first generation of Voltron Paladins were an interspecies team, I was kinda hoping the same for the next generation after ours. Because if Voltron is the defender of the Universe and if the paladins are literal representations of Voltron wouldnt it make sense if they were fron different species, to ya know show diversity and unity and stuff. Plus so many people forget that THE LIONS CHOOSE THEIR PALADIN. In my opinion since the current paladins' bond with their lions are so strong (they fricking piloted them mentally ) I honestly dont see them choosing new paladins any time soon.

I think season 8 is going to be about Lance. And here's why. Lance has always had a vague future, most people can predict how the other palidians actions and lives will lead, were as lance is harder to decipher. And this is because in the first episode, Allura is explaining why the palidians match each lion, Lance interrupts her for his lion, and we never get to know what she said about him. Now clearly in the series he's the most selfless of the team. But it always bugged me we never got to know what Lance's lion was supposed to be like. However we do know that the blue lion is caring and willing to put others before herself, just like lance. When Keith said he didn't want to be stuck there with lance, it really didn't give us much on lance. Which is why I think the team is building up all of this teasing and abuse on lance, to get the arc he deserves. I also beleive that the blue lion shutting lance out for Allura has some foreshadowing of its own. As in, Lance will shut out Allura and move on to Keith just as he did with the blue lion. Of course they could just crap on it like they did Adam but hey, what the hell do I know

@@charbucket1830 no I mean yes some of those things stressed me out, but the whole idea of the show, Bob's voice, the lights, the annoying zarkon skit, Lance almost dying and Bob's Doki dokie literature club act made me panicky :')
I like this theory; it especially lines up with that when Lance was first introduced, he came off as the "Main Protagonist" of the series.
I also hope that during the final battle against Haggar/Honerva or whoever's going to be the final boss, Lance gets to say "Form Voltron!"
The answer is, not on my watch I don't like the MFE Pilots and I don't want my baby's to be replaced
Also, the MFE pilots act a bit snobbish in season 7. Like how James Griffin yelled at Hunk because Hunk family was still missing. That really pissed me off!

I really am not a fan of the Garrison Pilots. I do not like James and introducing new characters this late into the series and giving them more character development then the actual paladins was simply frustrating.
These extra pilots should have stayed anonymous. We didn't need to know who they where, we just needed them to fly their MFE's.

Tbh i wouldn't mind the mfe pilots having their own story, but i would first like to see the paladins having fulfilling arcs and for the finale to be focused on them , since we did watch and enjoy this show *because of them* , and then potentially have a sequel to this series focusing more on the mfe pilots while the original voltron paladins are operating in the bg, kind of like what ATLA and LoK did

I know this might seem unlikely; but what if the spin off series is Robotech/Macross. I mean, there was a comic that had the Voltron Paladins team up with the Robotech Pilots.
Lets Talk Cartoons. They should be the pilots of the car vehicle voltron.I would like to see how this version brings that out.And maybe even further we may even get the robotech vs Colton ark.
I’d rather they stay as their own vehicle Voltron under Shiro’s command. I don’t like the idea of spending a ton of time on them when the other Paladins still have unresolved issues.- I don’t mind if they spend a little bit of time on them, but they shouldn’t be stealing Voltron’s thunder
Thank you for bringing up the Atlas turning into a giant robot problem! That's been bugging me ever since I watched it. If they have set universe rules about the trans-reality comet being part of what made Voltron and Sincline Voltron turn into robots then they should stick to that rule.
I agree, but at the same time, I have my own take on that, from a writer(storyteller) perspective.
Yes, there are rules. Simply put, these rules set up what to expect. You're being conditioned to stick to the facts.
But considering the rule is that something is CONDITIONALLY impossible, and can only be done under pretty unlikely circumstances; this is where the writer's rule comes in... breaking that rule, subverting expectations, and making the impossible the thing a hero uses to win.
Goku breaks so many rules, but the main rule he breaks is how he can die and not return once the dragon balls wish him back.
Rule: Earth can only wish you back once...
Unless you make a wish to bring back every dead person, including you, who were among the dead people.
Rule breaking is sometimes a good thing.
If they did that would be a bad idea on the writers part they know the fandom would be outraged
I really hope they don't take over. We haven't even had enough of our current characters, especially not Lance. I saw this theory of Lance losing vision in his aiming eye (the left one). Pike has a scar on that side, Lance got a sword - if he can't aim, he can swing a sword - this would be a good way to introduce Lance's arc. Lance finds his place in being the team's sharpshooter, what if that is taken away? Another possible arc for Lance may take place with having to leave Earth. Lance was extremely homesick - what if he doesn't want to leave again? Idk well bye
I was also shocked that the Atlas was able to transform like Voltron until I reflected back on the finale of season 6 and the opening episode of season 7. When Allura transferred Shiro's essence into Kuron, what if she partially transferred the essence of the black lion (parts of the trans-reality comet) as well? Shiro has been in the astral plane with Black for a _long_ time. Out of all of the paladins, Shiro was the most in sync with his lion from the start of season 1. What if the consciousness of the Black Lion and Shiro merged as one? Maybe that's the reason why Kuron's body had trouble accepting Shiro's consciousness. And another point to remember is yes the crystal was previously the Castle of Lions but the crystal formed as a result of the remains of the castle *and* the concentrated compression of pure quintessence after closing the quintessence field.
I really dislike the idea of the MFE pilots taking over. If this happens imma cry. They were just introduced so late in the show and even if they were introduced early on I still don’t like the idea of them replacing the original cast of Voltron. Don’t know why or how to explain it but the idea just gets me upset.

There was so much rage and disappointment after s7, and I'd really like to know what you thought about all the controversial stuff (you already teased it: Adam, the character development of certain paladins, the pacing, etc). I hope to see you address this in another video. :)
only one season left, why the hell would they ditch the current paladins. Also, I can't believe people were upset about this season, it was the best one yet. Can't people just enjoy the story? People act like they have been betrayed, what garbage.
Another parallel between Pidge and Leifsdottir is that fans have noticed that they act like they're on the autism spectrum. Yes, this is a fan theory, but it's a believable fan theory.
I am Autistic and I noticed that. I think Hunk might be on the spectrum too. He's quick to panic,prefers negotiation over confrontationand uses an activity like baking to calm down. I share those traits with him

More people need to talk about how badly written the second part of the season is. Especially, Sanda and Sendak having no real reason for most of their actions.
The MFE Pilots are quite intresting. I like Ryan Kinkade and James Griffin along with Veronica being Lance's older sister. I wasn't a huge fan of Ina Leifsdottir as she felt like a watered down Pidge. I don't feel like the MFE Pilots will replace The Paladins as they feel like "The B Team" so to speak. I think they'll have a role in The Galaxy Garrison but they won't become Paladins. Maybe like The Vehicle Voltron team in the original series as they were Earth's defense while Lion Voltron was fighting The Galra in deep space.

This is my life in a one sentence
I couldn't care less for the MFE pilots. Yeah, I likes some of the scenes they were in, but it mostly felt like they dragged out the whole "here's what happened on earth" plotline to introduce these guys and flesh them out, rather than give that time to the voltron team and have them work through their issues and stuff on the so-called "road trip". It frustrates me that the show runners said they would be in space travelling for a long time but ended up only lasting for like a week and they were home. I usually love flashback episodes, but I really could have done without the 2 episodes focused on it and these characters that I don't care about. Like others have said, spending precious time and episodes on these new characters and fleshing them out, when we still don't know much about the voltron team, was a bad idea at this point. If they had introduced them in increments throughout the show, maybe I would care about them. But I ending up really...not hating but disliking them because all I wanted was to know what was going on with the paladins and not caring about what happened with these new characters and their lives.
I genuinely do not like the new cast of characters. They’re okay I guess, but they’re not the characters I’ve gotten emotionally attached to. The thought of them getting more screen time than the og cast irks me- not bashing on people who like them though! It’s just really hard to switch from one set of characters to another. Lance, for example, is my favorite character. There are several reasons such as being a third wheel, not being good enough, always getting someone’s sloppy seconds, and overly jokeful. To hear the creators say that we created his insecurities hurts- it’s like his development is gone. And now there’s NEW pilots? sigh.. I don’t even know- does that make sense???
Ace Red || I’m not sure if you’re responding to my comment or if it was an accident? I never mentioned the fandom,, but I do agree with most of your points. There’s so much toxicity that I just detach myself away from that part of the fan base. And I’m not saying that Lance should be the only one with a great amount of development, far from that! The ones that I feel that deserve more is Allura, Hunk and Shiro. I don’t know about you but I would love to see more about Shiro’s family since he’s the only one we haven’t seen for some reason?? S8 please... he needs more love..
Ahh a lot of people have a love/hate realtionship with Voltron which is understandable. Because I certainly had issues some aspects of S7 but there was a lot I loved about it too. Now, with MFE pilots, I did enjoy them and they were really cool and fun, but I feel they were introduced very late into the show, I feel as though this Season would have been better if it just focused on the paladins but hey least they were enjoyable. Next season I'm really hoping they just focus on the paladins and their epilouge, it should be their season and I really want them to go out with a bang. However personally, the kinda speculated coupling such as Allurance and Acxa and Keith - Allurance was going fine with it's dynamic and then it took a weird leap and Acxa and Keith feels forced and it certainly watered down Acxa's character a little.
Side note, I love your videos and your perspective on things
I feel like people are connected to the current paladins, and in a way, those paladins are a reason why some people watch voltron, bc they relate to them and all. I know when I wait for the new season I'm also super excited to see Lance again.

Can you do a theory about Lance and his whole family having the best luck on their side? Like for example, how we thought Veronica died but then out of nowhere she appeared and with her whole family together. And of course how that one scene when Lance and Veronica were going to die, the red lion shows up to save them.
Then theirs the game show too. It just seems odd that Bob is very interested in Lance in the entire game. And making fun of him. Lance could easily get eliminated but luck was on his side.
Don't know what the Mcklains did to have suck luck but it's oddly amazing.
MFE Pilots trying to protect the world? do it in a spin off, just give us the last season as the paladins allow us to let go of them then it won't feel so forced, at least in my opinion

The atlas turning into a giant robot was sooooooooooo stupid.
It's reverse-development.
The MFE doesn't have even half the screen time, and lacks the personality of the current team to replace them.
I can understand having greatness thrust upon new characters, like Boruto to Naruto...
But that's just it:
If one was planning to start all the way back to season 1, make it an entirely new show.
Duh. We've invested too much in our pre-established team.
We don't need to throw the entirety of the show for less than 1% of what that show was.
And the only way to accept the MFE will be in a direct sequel, literally at the end of Legendary Defender, when the MAIN paladins suffer injury they're not going to recover from.
It never needs to be physically harmful. Perhaps everyone saw something so psychologically harmful that it utterly crushed their resolve and focus.
If they were broken in their minds, no longer thinking as a TEAM, then it would justify having the MFE step in, unbroken, and psychological health noted... they could work as a team, not only with resolve, but also confronting what broke the former Paladins to begin with.
So would what you suggest mean that would mean Keith be more of a Galra President? Prime Minister? King maybe?

I was actually cool with all the earth stuff, including the new pilots, up until the ships turned into a robot. Dumbest thing ever.
Anyway. I really just want our Paladins, including Shiro to go back to their original lions. Allura and Coran can go search for Alteans and help the Coalition. Lance’s arc, especially his friendship with Keith, can be resolved. Axca can be confirmed as anything except a love interest (please, I beg).
I know I’m probably asking to much from VLD but ya know, one can hope.
I would just imagine it's a desire for symmetry. For the end to mirror the beginning. One last hurrah for the original lineup so to speak.

I think the new character's are cool, but by making a spin off it will take away from voltron, because they'll have to set it in the last season. It's been seven seasons and we haven't gotten a lance centered arc. We still don't know enough about our main characters. I really love voltron but season eight really needs to bring back the show. More paladin focused rather than, the choas we got in season 7.
Too bad Shiro doesn’t pilot the black Lion and was used as a plot device for Keith so why would Veronica be the black Lion, when it’s Keith

I'm still on the fence about them. I'm being petty but I can't help it. I don't like the Atlas or the "new paladins" their fine, I'm just being petty. I also want to know about what might be in store for Lance. He was all over the place the last few seasons and I want to see him finally get his shot.

I think a video on the hinted romantic developments of S7 is in order! There was a lot of emotional confusion happening in S7 (and building up in S6) to deal with. The paladins had to push back until the battle was over, but in S8 everything is gonna come into place. There's some for every character but specifically:
ex - Axca's new role? Is she really just there for Kaxca or is there more to her purpose?
- Lance's crush on Allura that is hyper confusing atm
- update on the spicy bois (what's up with klance? is all hope lost?)
We all need to decode klance picking each other in game show episode, "can't we just fight?", Allura's sending off Lance before the big final mission, and everything the crew has said up until now. There's something the Voltron crew is setting up here and I'm not sure if it's the obvious conclusion or something deeper?
There's also the whole lgbt rep issue, but that might be a whole other thing.

I´m not against the MFE pilots taking over, but whatever happens, the only thing that would really make me angry was if Shiro got torn away from his team. Sure, he´s the captain of the Atlas now but I really, really, really hope the Atlas stays as the new Castle of Lions and that Shiro goes with the Paladins. Leaving him on Earth would be heartbreaking, him aiding them from Earth wouldn´t be enough. Shiro´s been their leader, always a rock for everyone, and now just tossing him to one side? Armored Fleet Dairugger XV was the source material for series 2 even though it has no relationship to the original Beast King Golion series. If you remember all the interviews Lauren and Joaquim gave at the begging of Legendary Defender's run was that they were NOT remaking Voltron as it was but rather how they REMEMBER it, and that's a very useful distinction. The MFE and their pilots are probably their reinterpretation of Vehicle Force Voltron (Near Universe Voltron) just like you said

I'm actaully questioning something - Does Keith REMEMBER James?
It could be Yes or No
Yes:
1.) He was a bully. A lot of people remember their bullies no matter how much time has passed. Even after all that's happened them going home triggered the memories.
2.) One of the fights with James ended up being a memorable day to Keith b/c of what Shiro said to him.
2a.) Subsequently that he can remember the flashback and James' face as he glared at him.
3.) How James was acting towards Hunk before he went to help him find his daily child have brought back memories.
No:
1.) While Keith may have been going down memory lane we have to remember that he was IN SPACE fighting a WAR. He has too many near-death experiences and life-changing conversations to remember a life on earth he didn't even LIKE until Shiro showed up. When Keith looked at James I saw confusion. I don't even think Keith mentions him.
2.) Yes, that day with the fight was important - but if you look again his focus was on Shiro and he may remember the fight and the boy he can't really REMEMBER him.
2a.) Keith has been a loner and his attitude has thrown people off and made them antagonistic towards him - James could have just been another face in the crowd for all we know b/c he's been in situations like that all the time (James COULD have fought him multiple times but as the rule-abiding dude that he is I don't think so).
3.) This could be another sign of maturity. Again he fought in space, found his mother while facing constant attacks, made some life changing decisions and had to fight his brother who he thought DIED in space. He has matured a lot. Not holding onto the negative memories of his past would be another symbol - he's above it now plus he can rip James to shreds w/o even trying. They havw bigger things to worry about than someone who he doesn't even remember.
I hope he doesn't remember James.

New Voltron and their paladins are cream puffs. Crap crap 💩 ! It’s too far gone from the original crew. OG Voltron would roll up the new Voltron every day of the week, and three times on Sunday. Bring back the the old school Voltron.
Fun idea but I hope it doesn't happen because some Paladins don't have a fully fleshed out personality and it's throwing away some in progress character arcs. Also, does the MFE team have the correct personality traits to match up with their Voltron counterparts?

For the part where Lance says "Well he is half galra and our leader, so I think he's like the future", Krolia was working on rebuilding the blade of mamora with Kolivan, and the two together makes sense to possibly be a reference to Keith going back to the Blade after the paladins are done with Voltron and running The Blade of Mamora, especially if something was to happen to Krolia. (again) Also the future part basically had me yelling "you mean your future Lance" at the screen. (but that's just because I personally ship Klance)
I was thinking they same thing during the season 7 episodes cause they had a lot of screen time during the season and they are very interesting side characters. If the current team besides to step dpwn during the series finale, then i hope these guys take over and who knows they might even pave the way for anotjer Voltron series with a brand new story.
Your intrapections are pretty great. When i saw the new cadets i immediately thought everything was going to lead into Vehicle Voltron. Glad to see there are those of like minds.
First time i have ever seen any of your content so i hope it isn't weird to ask, but your voice is pretty distinct in its intonation and pronunciations. May i ask where you're from?
I like most of your theories and they seem to be very well thought out and you put together some parallels that I never thought of so my compliments to you for that.
With all that said I think you only have it 3/4 right. I do agree that the MFE cadets are the future placements but I believe you only had it wrong by one:
Kincade= Yellow
Leiffdotter= Green
Rizavi= Red
Romelle (yes Romelle)= Blue
Griffin= Black
I see Griffin as a hybrid fusion of Shiro & Keith. His issues with Keith are much like you say but I also think that usually rivals who can’t stand each other typically have similarities within each the other which typically shows what they wish they could be for themselves. Just as Keith had issues with being a leader because his natural tendency is to be more impulsive and go with his instincts, Griffin equally next season will probably embrace moments where he goes off on instinct and makes more decisions based on his gut rather than always being tactful and doing what he’s told. I could easily see him being forced into a couple of situations where his orders are one thing, but his instincts will be another and his ability to use & embrace those instincts rather than being fearful of them. And like Shiro he’s a born leader who has achieved a lot in a short amount of time and looks to excel in everything he does. A true prodigy like Shiro when he was a bit younger.
I really don’t need to explain the other three when it comes to which lions they’ll pilot, but as for Romelle it would only be fitting that the blue lion is piloted by another Altean. She has her moments of humor much like Allura, but in the long run really cares for the fate of the universe and her friends around her. She also has some of her abilities as well. Plus she wears a little bit of blue in her outfit for crying out loud. And I guess it’ll truly be telling with Griffin and the other MFE pilots because we will know whether or not they really are replacements when we see them in regular street clothes for the first time.
As for Veronica I actually saw her as the new Koran rather than commander Holt. This is me just spit bawling here. You’re free to tell me what you think and if you agree.
It was pretty obvious that they were setting up that crew as the future new paladins. There are 5 of them and they all have exceptional skills, work well as a team, etc. Being that they announced the next season will be the last, I'm sure there's going to be a "passing the torch" thing happening, once they get done with the war against the Galra.
I didn't really like how these new characters we basically didn't give a quiznak about got introduced and now they might possibly take the spotlight next season, I mean there's still so much loose ends with the original paladins? Are they really gonna focus on these characters next season?
I can see them taking on the Paladins role, but I also think this is the start of Earth’s version of Voltron, aka, vehicle voltron.

I'm... fairly certain that Keith will be leading the Galra by the end of the show; not the Blade, but the entire society. For anyone that isn't aware, the Keith from the original Voltron show's continuation was revealed to be an Arusian, the same race as Allura and Coran. By the end of the series, he had married Allura and was the king of Arus. Unless they rush a relationship with Allura, I don't see that happening, but his Galra heritage, paired with the fact that he is the only core main character whose fate isn't set in stone, might just guarantee his position as Galran ruler.
(When I say 'main character' I'm referring Lauren Montgomery's statement about how Shiro, Keith, and Allura are the core protagonists of the series. With Shiro in a high ranking Garrison position and Allura practically guaranteed to become queen, that just leaves Keith as an uncertainty.)
I felt almost like they were an intro to G-Force: Guardians of Space. I feel it'd be really cool to connect these two series together in this way

Atlas has the makeup of the castle of lions and the lions themselves from the crystal that was all that was left of the castle when they blew it up in the rift. It kinda makes sense if you stretch your imagination enough and fill in the gaps

Also the bonding scenes with Keith/hunk were supposed to be Keith/lance, probably setting up klance, but DreamWorks shut it down. A theory is that klance was supposed to be canon and was set up, but is ultimately being shut down.

If the show were to be continued (or spun off), I don't think the MFE pilots will replace the Paladins, I think they're more likely to become the Voltron I / Vehicle Team Voltron (from the second season of the 1984 series / originally Armored Fleet Dairugger XV). they could probably work in the proposed Voltron II / Gladiator Voltron (originally Lightspeed Electroid Albegas), somehow. (for those who don't know, the numeral denotes distance from Earth where they're stationed, not revision of Voltron. Vehicle Team being on Earth, Gladiator Team closer to Earth than Lion Force, who are furthest out.)
why Atlas can transform: ostensibly, Papa Pidge designed and built it to, hoping to someday find a way to actually power it, but was only hoping to get it to function as a ship initially.

I hope you are wrong the show was great but the new characters are trash in my opinion. If they wanted to continue the series it should have been with the same paladins. They will lose a viewer if they do this.

Your analysis is great, as always, but while I definitely agree on the similarities and parallels, I really hope they don't do this... This is the last season, it should focus more on tying up loose ends and saying goodbye to the characters we have known for so long and have grown incredibly attached to. There's really no need for them to suddenly waste time in the 13 episodes we have left to introduce and develop new characters we've never seen before (or have, and largely disliked, in the case of James), especially since some of the characters we have known for the whole damn series haven't even got enough of that treatment ( *cough* Lance *cough* Hunk *cough* Kolivan. also Adam. He's a new character, but he's Shiro's ex bf, and while I don't hold anger towards him getting killed, I am disappointed that we know basically nothing about him. Not even his clear personality). It just seems so redundant... I'd say I trust the Voltron team to understand this, but,,, yeah, I'm really scared of getting disappointed. The story had always been about the og main characters. changing them up last minute is bad for any fiction.
