WHAT MONSTERS & MANA REVEALED | Voltron: Legendary Defender Theory/Analysis

  • Monsters & Mana was a fun episode. It was just a nice breather, with Takashi Shirogane being an adorable paladin. But the episode did have small hints to the future of Voltron. Coran's wizard character, Dakin, is reminiscent of Honerva the witch. From powers to taking life forces. Dakin turned Hunk's character, Block's, village to stone and stole their life forces/crystals. What if Honerva is going to do something similar to people in the future? Perhaps to the Altean colony Romelle's from which she knows about? Dakin got adventurers to do his dirty work. Lotor used people in the past and took Alteans' quintessence to power his Sincline ships and rift gate. Honerva can also use people. Not only can she transform into others and create new beings, but she knows how to manipulate people... just like her son. Team Voltron's weakness is that they value the lives of others. Honerva can easily use that against them. Dakin served a bigger threat; I suspect the Leviathan Demon that destroyed Shiro's monastery. Honerva, and Zarkon and Lotor were all effected by the creatures from the rift.

    Small correction: I just looked back at some Beast King GoLion stuff, and Takashi and Ryou weren’t twins. Ryou was Takashi’s younger brother but they were almost identical in looks and could’ve passed for the same character (they did in Defender of the Universe)!

    Oh hey, one other foreshadowing thing I think "Monsters and Mana" was trying to give was when Pidge and Hunk came into the tavern at the beginning and every creature there was staring at them with hostile intent. Hunk said "This is not the atmosphere I remember from last time"
    What if that is foreshadowing a less-than-welcoming return to Earth. The Paladins are going home and think they'll see their families again. However, they may find that there is trouble waiting for them on Earth. Perhaps the Galaxy Garrison could act as an antagonistic force for Team Voltron. Look what they've done so far in the beginning: Prematurely declaring Shiro, Matt, and Sam dead; trying all they can to hide the truth; all the stuff they did to Shiro when he came back...
    Yeah something is telling me that Team Voltron won't be so warmly received when they get back home.

      They may even put Allura in some kind of science-cell as she's an alien.
      Or maybe if they had developed some iteration of Vehicle-Voltron, they could unleash it to fight Voltron.

      Yeah, I was thinking of that too. Lance might get accused of kidnapping the rest of them if they found out he was in control of the Blue Lion when they left. Pidge would probably get arrested for sneaking into the Garrison in disguise as well as for breaking into their equipment. Keith would probably get arrested for kidnapping Shiro when they were trying to study him and would probably wanna study Keith as well since he's half Galra. Coran, Allura, Krolia, and Keith's cosmic wolf would all be areas of interest as they're aliens. Shiro would be highly suspicious as his arm is now gone and his hair is now white. Sam and Matt also returned from capture and would definitely be questioned. The Lions would also be studied.
      Hopefully these don't happen, but I honestly wouldn't put it past the Garrison. I mean, they weren't even willing to let Shiro tell his side of the story when he returned and knocked him out to study him. Chased after the team when they fled with him. Were clearly looking for them when they saw the Blue Lion. Probably knew of alien existence beforehand to some extent and purposefully kept it covered.
      God let's hope the Galaxy Garrison treats them well.

      I know a lot of fans wanna see how Allura and Coran react to things like icecream...
      But what do I wanna see? I wanna see Allura being introduced to Earthberries. We know junipberries and their flowers are one of the more mundane things Allura misses about Altea (like Lance with puddles, and familiar constellations for Shiro (there’s no time to learn all the new stars, and we know he likes starcharts)). And I just get the impression that junipberries most likely taste similar to strawberries or raspberries.
      -
      ...although, if Shiro took her to a Sakura/Cherry eating festival~ (it’d be a nice cultural parallel they share. Okay, FINE I’m lowkey shallura trash)

    A quick note just for fun:
    The writers said they might actually do another "Monsters & Mana" episode again, which should be fun. And since Kieth is back, what kind of character do you think Kieth would play?
    Personally, I think he'd be a ninja-type character: as a reference to his time with the Blade of Marmora (who we're basically alien ninjas)

    The Keith and Shiro battle made its way right to the top of my list of best fight scenes. I've watched many shows, movies, and films, and this scene was the only one to pass the Naruto and Sasuke fight on my list. The main reason behind this was the emotion. Throughout the beginning of the fight, Keith was negotiating with Shiro, trying to get him to come back home with him. You could tell how much Keith wanted and needed Shiro to cooperate with him. When Shiro shows no signs that he will be going with Keith willingly, Keith brings out his instictive side. While beginning to fight Shiro with as much power as he could, we could also tell exactly how Keith was feeling. I think the turning point(climax) of the fight wasn't when Keith said he loved Shiro, but when Kuron said "That's the Keith I remember." Before this, Keith's eyes had resembled a Galra's. Glarans typically put the mission first, and that side of Keith came out. By this time, Keith has already figured out that he isn't talking to the real Shiro, but he doesn't want to except it. He was raised by Shiro for some time, and Shiro knows him more than anyone. He was one of the only people Keith let's his guard down around and feels comfortable doing so. I just adore how much we can tell just by the actions. Keith is constantly trying to be defensive instead of offensive. You can see that he doesn't want to hurt him. His eyes are always focused right at Shiro's eyes. Another reason why I love this fight is because of the animation. The planning must have been extrememly thought out before hand. There was a point in the battle where you can visibly tell the art style changed. The linework is smoother rather than sharp. There were more frames used, so much more effort in it. The animation team went ALL OUT on this scene. They used symbolism a lot, too. For example, zooming in on red and blue stars in the sky when real Shiro contacted both Lance and Keith. In Naruto, the Obito vs Kakashi scene was something incredible as well, that I think mirrored this one in some ways. In this fight, although there is no dialog, the flashbacks give you all the information you need to form a dialog yourself. With Shiro and Keith, after we got the memories that they had, it was like a missing part of the story was told. The situation unraveled and it was just beautiful. Anyway, I'm done ranting.
    (I think we all know that Coran vs 'I want to be a Paladin' Shiro is the real GOAT)

      I agree! The animation was AMAZING! It’s one of the reasons that season six is one of my favorites. They revealed so much with minimal episodes. Yes, this season was quite depressing but it revealed so much. From Shiro, Haggar, Keith, to the rest of the paladins, season six was something that was planned and it was amazing.

    Am I the only one who thinks Lotor isn’t dead? Like, idk, his death seems fishy to me. The last episode didn’t exactly show his death like it did for Zarkon(who we watched get stabbed). He was left in the rift, which is filled with unlimited quintessence. Maybe instead of dying, he found a way to harness more of it and escape? I haven’t done my research yet, as this has only just occurred to me, so it is most likely not-factually correct. But uh...I tried?

    • @sentient_trash_can2987
      @sentient_trash_can2987 6 лет назад +35

      Atomic Cat Bat I don’t think lotor can escape the quintessence field. But the writers often find a weird way to explain things. I do think lotor will come back tho

      Blep Blep Doggo but even if he can't escape the quintessence field he still is in an entire realm full of what is "essentially life itself". Maybe what'll happen is, kind of like how zarkon and haggar rely heavily on quintessence, lotor will not only be over the top obsessed with quintessence but his entire life force will be tied to the need for quintessence. But maybe he'll create a new rift or something, because maybe like shiro his essense will still be in the quintessence feild without him actually truly existing.
      Idk.

      I don’t think Lotor is dead. I actually think Honerva will discover what happened to him and use her newfound abilities to get him out. This would give the paladins time to go to Earth and make a new castle or whatever... idk. Just my thoughts

    I can’t see Romelle being a spy, that would just feel kinda lame. Romelle’s role in season 6 was to expose Lotor. Having her then be revealed as Haggar’s spy would just feel redundant and make that twist in season 6 less impactful. I’d rather add a new character to the team like I’m hoping they do with Krolia and Romelle then just have someone bond with and then betray them.
    Also, is it just me or are Lotor’s generals feeling really underutilized? They’ve been setting up this Keith and Acxa thing but other than that they just feel like a mix of Azula’s squad and Team Rocket.

    • @wyrmur727
      @wyrmur727 6 лет назад +4

      I wouldn't be surprised if Lotor's generals were more utilized soon. DreamWorks tends to take a long time to foreshadow different things and too really hit some points (Shiro was fake for seasons, as an example) so I feel that they probably have something else in store for them.

    • @williammccreavy6434
      @williammccreavy6434 6 лет назад

      The twist was in reference to Lotor and my point was that if the person revealing Lotor's evil acts was a character who herself needs to have a twist about her own schemes that makes it really lame.

  • @lonerider4164

    I think the Rift creatures prey on their host's insecurities and amplify them 100-fold. I mean think about it:
    1. Zarkon before the Rift incident was quite an imposing and ambitious military leader. He had a very strong policy against higher-ups fraternizing with the lower-class due to the possible erosion of discipline. Zarkon's insecurity was that he felt challenged when his authority was questioned, a prime example being when King Alfor kept trying to stop him from experimenting with the Rift. When Daibazal was destroyed, that's what pushed him over the edge. He saw Alfor as a threat to be eliminated, just as he tried to eliminate Lotor. We have no clue how, when or why Lotor was exiled but I bet it was probably due to a tiny part of Honerva in Haggar's pleas to protect her son. If we assume that Lotor's generals followed him into exile, Narti was the only set of eyes that Haggar had to keep an eye on him. Zarkon obviously knew Haggar was Honerva when Lotor was born. Maybe the small part of himself that still loved Honerva carried itself into his 10,000 year close consul of Haggar and may have been the reason he was lenient with only exiling Lotor at the time.
    2. Honerva was driven by her fascination with acquiring knowledge AND supporting her husband, both traits following into her life as Haggar. However, the Galra viewed her as an outsider, despite being married to Emperor Zarkon and her technological achievements benefiting the empire; she probably self-isolated herself and assimilated Galra ideals in order for her to continue her work and to support Zarkon (remember gifting Allura with a Galra helmet was Honerva's idea of a customary gesture). With the heated history between the Alteans and the Galras, Haggar revealing herself as an Altean would be suicidal. Even after Zarkon's death, Honerva tried to maintain the unity of the empire that her husband built.
    3. Lotor: being half-Galra is already a stigma in Galra society but Lotor being part Altean made him the most reviled among the high-ranking Galra. Lotor desired to find out more about his Altean heritage only to be brutally reminded how much he is like the Galra who he hates. Despite the light-hearted moments of Hunk with Lotor's nanny (excuse me, governess), it shows how messed up Lotor's life was and the Galra mind-set in general. Enlightening pain? Victory or death?! Add to the fact that he was always viewed as being too weak and being less of a Galra, It's no wonder Lotor wanted to know about the other half of his heritage and probably is the reason why he went insane. Seasons 5 and 6 showed that Lotor could never identify himself as a true Galra or an Altean despite his attempts to please both. I think Lotor's search of knowledge was more so driven by trying to find himself. Not knowing who he is or what he is was slowly eating away at him that drove him to the brink of madness.
    Wow....this comment is way too long >_> Okay, I'll get straight to the point: their obsessions over-whelmed them to a state where these Rift creatures could get a foot-hold of control; they're basically parasites feeding off of every fear, every flaw, and every impulse that makes people more and more inhumane. Although Lotor thought making quintessence available to the rest of the universe would pacify everyone...would it really? Umm...I'm sorry for that big wall of text here...sorry o_o
    PS. apologies if I got some of the names and words wrong.

    • @hazey_dazey
      @hazey_dazey 6 лет назад +6

      your thoughts on Lotor mirror mine exactly! his hatred for his Galra heritage is exactly why Allura comparing him to Zarkon set him off, it reminded him of everything he hates about himself. Nevermind the fact that the mindset "Victory or death" is the reason he wasn't able to attain the knowledge of Oriand.
      *sigh* too bad the Galra empire, with all their vast knowledge, never created therapy :/

    • @lonerider4164
      @lonerider4164 6 лет назад +5

      Well the Galra empire is VERY militaristic and bureaucratic. Any advancements that weren't directed toward enhanced defenses and fortifications for garrisons, maintained control over colonies, weapons development, or the extraction of resources for the empire were simply not important and a waste of time. Based on what we've seen from them, Galra would've viewed the very concept of therapy as weakness :/

Maybe they just added that in there recently, but he was the Red Paladin, the one who controlled fire, the thing that killed his dad. Very ironic.
    I would like to see Keith play M&M. He would be a half-elf ranger from what I heard that gets along with animals. Maybe that's where the quote, that he called himself a pretty little princess, because in Disney, their princesses are know for their animal sidekicks.

    Another point about Romelle is that she trusted Keith and Krolia really quickly. Krolia is galra, wearing a galra uniform. Keith wasn't even wearing his paladin suit. Remember the hatred Allura had for everything galra, wouldnt Romelle had the same, or more hatred? Or at least wariness?
    It doesnt make sense

      Omg FINALLY someone noticed it too...! Her story may sound a bit fishy but it's only a cartoon and I almost believed her ;)) what I couldn't believe though is that she would have trusted two Galrans she met for the first time after discovering that the Galra everyone believed to be a saint and a saviour is actually a twisted murderer. That just doesn't make sense at all.

      i'd believe they gave a cliffnotes version of what happened when they found her. plus she doesn't have many options at this point, it's either believe the strangers or continue your life knowing something terrible and not being able to do anything about it.
      not saying it's not sketchy but i'll give her the benefit of the doubt

      But! She didn't even TRY turning to the other Alteans. As far as I remember, she said they WOULDN"T believe her, not that they actually didn't... Wasn't there even one person she knew her whole life who would believe what happened to her brother? I agree she could have trusted strangers... but only if it had really been the only option left. And if they hadn't been Galra...

      Marta Kęska Remember Allura, tho. She had trouble trusting Keith for being HALF Galra, he was a friend and a paladin of Voltron. Yet this girl doesn't even bat an eyelash about trusting a full garla and her companion?

    (get ready for a long but, necessary post)
    oH NO. uH okAy soOo, when u talked about the village being turned into stone (and how something might happen on earth) I rembered something. So apparently in the 80's Voltron (now I haven't seen it; this is just stuff I've heard) Lance's family died from an attack from the Galra. We've already had a Keith, Pidge, and a Shiro arc. The Voltron team have said that Hunk doesn't really have any big problems like Pidges brother, Keith's mom, or Shiros identity. The last person left is Lance. Alot of people think that it's going to be a sexuality arc but, I think it's going to be a family arc with a smaller side arc about his sexuality. We all know that Lance is very family centered and if he lost (as in death or maybe he didn't know where they were after a catastrophe) them or if they got hurt it would make it so that it would show the more responsible and compassionate side of him. (which we have only seen for a few moments as of end of season 6) we also know that Lance has low self-esteem and confidence issues. (which he clearly compensates with his loud and proud "personality") If he did infact have a sexuality arc I feel that the person who helps him realize this (look, I'm trying not to go into shipping territory) will help him cope and gain more confidence but, if that doesn't happen his family will most likely be the one to support him. I really hope it's a Lance arc next; as he's my favorite character; tying with Keith and he really deserves some more character development, so more people can she how much he's really changed since season one.

      iamccrayjones because allura has been confirmed to not have a romantic endgame and Lance does so allurance can't happen. Also, Everytime they talk about Lance's partner in the end the keep the pronouns gender neutral the entire time. It's also been very secretive of who it's going to be (hence why Jeremy keeps going into the basement) meaning it might be a boy as Lance has only been hinted to like boys.

    Solid video! You voiced a lot of my thoughts (Haggar, Rift Creatures) and some theories I've seen floating around (i.e. Romelle).
    One of my biggest question takeaways from the M&M episode was Shiro's "backstory" and the mention of his mentor. I know some people have pointed out that this could be a reference to Sam Holt, but my first thoughts after the flashbacks from "Razor's Edge" and Shiro's story from "Monsters and Mana" was that the mentor might actually be a reference to Keith's Dad (who I hope they reveal the name of soon because I'm tired of referencing to him this way). The visual parallels are certainly there between he and Shiro, with their looks and Shiro wearing his clothes. But there's also the fact that when Keith's Dad was injured during he and Krolia's sabotage of the Galra ships, it was his _right arm_ that was injured and wrapped up all the way to the shoulder--just like how Shiro's _right arm_ was taken by the Galra. And it was, like you said, revealed that Keith's Dad was a firefighter and may have been killed in a fire---well, that's exactly what happened to Shiro's mentor in the backstory he "made up."
    (Plus, we already know that Shiro is a shitty liar; he couldn't even tell the BOM that Keith's knife did belong to him, even if he had doubts of if it was true; so it would make sense that he took from his own past to make up a backstory for his character.)

    I wouldn't put too much money on the Romelle theory or at least the part with the two Alteans. You see there's a thing in cartoons when instead of creating a bunch of characters to be used once and never seen again they use the character design over and over again so they don't have to be constantly at work to make characters that don't say a word.

      julia howe This hasn't been the case for the show so far though. The Voltron writers have shown time and time again that everything they show is on purpose. I haven't seen a single frame that hasn't had a purpose to the overall story. Besides that, whenever a character is in a crowd, they make it a priority to have the crowd be diverse. I've rarely seen anything that could be considered lazy animating in this show.

    Boy I'm surprised you didn't mention how Lance had a Scar across his eye and how having Scars seems to be a reoccurring thing here. Shiro received his during the gladiator ring fighting Days when he was captured from Kerberos. Keith got his when fighting Kuron. Lance is somehow going to end up in a big one on one fight with someone and get injured. And I bet it'll have something to do WITH Sendak and his family. He is in the red lion which means Lance is impulsive and obviously lets his emotions get the better of him when it comes to people he loves. He's already sacrificed himself for Allura without a second thought. Who's to say he won't charge into a battle without thinking about it?

    Someone posted a theory that actually linked the fire from 80's Voltron to Lance's Arc, basically Zarkon and Haggar go to Earth to destroy it and when the Paladins get back, they see the destruction and Lance loses his family, because it's what he had been thinking about most, and it's also a connection to Keith re-uniting with Krolia. His family returned and Lance loses his

    There is something I've been thinking about for a while when it comes to that episode, and so here is some of that process:
    I noticed that in the episode "Monsters & Mana" that they mentioned that there was a somewhat of a curse to make people "sleep forever", and Hunk's character got targeted and affected briefly, before he was pulled out of it. I found that interesting since at Fan Expo Dallas Kimberly (Allura) brought up the plot point of characters being asleep for a long time, ultimately turning out to be a likely spoiler when Josh (Shiro) tried to make a smooth recovery. Ultimately, it only lead to Jeremy (Lance) having to break it to Kimberly that it hadn't been aired (since there was more and more being described). We didn't get to see that in the series so far, which makes me believe that maybe this episode was foreshadowing that plot point in a minuscule way, and that maybe that means that: A. it is not a bigger plot point to come (compared to the rest)...and/or B. it is going to occur far enough in the future that it would only be teased bit by bit to let it slide softly into the show. Perhaps it is an adventure and/or trial that could cost the team the war given on how long the are asleep.
    These are just theories and speculation of course, and because it involves a spoiler-moment, maybe we really shouldn't know and think about it to experience the intended ride. I do, however, think it is interesting enough to have me think "what other smaller details were foreshadowing?" as this was a particularly small detail when compared to some of the other details considered as foreshadowing. There is an idea that everything happens for a reason when it comes to animation and the crafting of it and it's plot... how fine does that go? Is it in every moment, is it mixed with other minor details that have little to no relevance to the future in a way to leave so many possibilities that it overwhelms the true picture? Is this a needle or just another piece of hay? I find it fascinating and intriguing no matter the result. I hope you found this somewhat interesting too :)

    I don't trust Romelle. Too much is fishy. Firstly, yeah, she was alone where she was washing clothes. And for being, hm, idk, on a supposedly remote colony, she didn't seem shocked at all to see strangers, especially one who was visibly Galra. She trusted them enough to spill her story too even though she trusted NO ONE ELSE with this information. She somehow knew where the location for the Altean crafts were so they could fly away, and I'm curious how she even knows about them. Also it should be noted that it's an odd coincidence that Romelle's ENTIRE FAMILY can be chosen to extract quintessence from *but not Romelle* and this doesn't make sense because if BOTH OF HER PARENTS were chosen as well as Bandor then why wasn't she? She should have just as much of a likelihood to be a great candidate as her family was.
    She found Bandor's crashed craft rather easily and it's surprising she was the first one to get there. There were no guards or anyone else nearby until Lotor arrived with his guards. She had a solid 2~3 minutes before they arrived and even though Lotor could probably hear her he didn't pursue.
    She was shocked to see what was happening to the other colony but her reaction feels a bit off, especially when thrown into comparison with Allura's reaction to finding Altea destroyed. When Allura found that out she was visibly devastated and had lines under her eyes. I could be wrong, but Romelle didn't really look all that stressed or freaked out. Hell, she wasn't even afraid to approach the tubes and hesitant to see what her worst fears would be come true. Hell, even Keith and Krolia looked more worried.
    Despite being on the colony her entire life she didn't seem surprised by anything in the castleship or by any of the paladins. I know she'd seen Keith and was probably not all too interested in seeing more humans but she should've at least shown more interest in Coran and Allura, especially considering that Romelle didn't know there were Alteans outside of the colony.
    Lotor's reaction to Romelle was interesting. He seemed more shocked by her words than her actually being there. His look seemed to reflect one of betrayal. It should also be noted that he didn't even try to deny what Romelle was accusing him of and rather clarified it.
    It should also be noted that Matt opened a cell in season 5 episode 1 (while looking for Sam) and he looked shocked about what he found but we never saw what was in the cell. It's not an animation error, it was purposefully added in. We know that it can't be Shiro because we saw where the clones were being stored. It's not someone close to the paladins. My only thought is that it's Romelle.

    • @lonerider4164

      Not to mention Haggar didn't seem in the slightest surprised to find out about an existing Altean colony. Also, if you happened to watch the beginning episodes of season 7 *SPOILERS! TREAD LIGHTLY*
      When Kolivan mentioned that the Blade of Marmora found the Altean colony deserted, did Romelle even show a bit of concern or surprise? Her family is gone but she should at least be worried about what happened to her people. And with the season's cliffhanger of a new Robo-beast being piloted by an Altean, it's confirmed that Haggar has been experimenting with the colony's citizens. Oddly enough, when Keith saw the new Robo-beast, he said it reminded him of the Komar magic by the Druids, of whom Haggar seems to have distanced herself from in the 3-year time skip. This poses another question that many have been wondering; *who* are the Druids? They seem to have a similar skill set and affinity for magic as ancient Altaens. For example, Haggar/Honerva can teleport in similar manner as the Druids. What if (and this is a big IF) the established second colony mentioned by Lotor is actually the Druids? Maybe they decided to align themselves with Haggar than Lotor because: (1) Haggar was/is a skilled magic user, making her the de facto leader and (2) being in Zarkon's inner circle ensured their safety--well as long as they didn't reveal themselves as Alteans, anyways. Haggar figured there must have been a secret Altean colony somewhere because she recognized the Druids were Alteans; that's why she wasn't surprised by the revelation. Sure the Druids may be loyal to Haggar but would the case still remain if she happened to find out about the hidden colony? They may have aligned themselves with Zarkon to protect their families. As interrogators for the Galra empire they can easily find and omit any pertinent information regarding the colony.
      Also I would like to add that I don't think Romelle is a spy; I just think she didn't have the whole truth and made several assumptions on her own. If Lotor was set up by anyone, I'd think it would be the Druids because they couldn't trust that the new emperor of the Galra empire would let the colony remain a secret. If Lotor was planning to make gradual reunification efforts between the Galra and the Alteans, that would expose the colony.
      Edit: My apologies. They're called the Druids. The experiment that they worked on to draw quintessence from planets is called the Komar. I mixed the two up.

      The Kawaii Station I see him as a terribly misguided person. This is paralleled greatly in Keith. The difference being that Lotor wasn't willing to let it go and move on, whereas Keith was. Keith accepted the fact that he might be pushed away and rejected for who he was but that it wouldn't change him. Lotor, on the other hand, let this consume him. It's why he went so crazy the last few episodes. He was so consumed by how he was different that it made him want to cause mass extinction by killing everything that had ever tormented him (Voltron, Haggar, and the rest of the Galra). And there's no redemption for that. He let that insecurity consume and corrupt him. He might've meant well, but in the end, he was willing to destroy anything and everything that even moderately scorned him. That's what makes him a villain.

      There's only so much you can blame on his upbringing. Perhaps when he first set on his path , but he has been doing his thing for centuries. He might think he's a savior, but his "sacrifice a few folks for the greater good" mentality makes him the villain.

Because Lotor was someone who knew the importance of manipulating the masses, and was able to do so easily, it would have been natural for him to be developed in such a way that his normal approach of deception wouldn't work with team Voltron....or Allura

    Loved this video and thought about it a bunch while rewatching the episode, it made me think that when Shiro's master tells that defeating the Leviathan will teach him all there is to know, with the comparisons you've drawn between the Leviathan and the dark spirits, maybe there's something that will be revealed once team Voltron defeats the dark spirits, be it knowledge or something else? This is likely nothing, I just found it a bit interesting

    Watching the beginning of this video I was kind apanicking because I thought that you where insinuating that coran was the mastermind. That would be real sad D:
    But then I continued to watch it and now im just sitting here laughing at myself for it.

    Honestly I enjoyed it as a concept episode or a filler episode I never look between the lines of it and just took it for what it is. However your video caused me to to look at this in a different angle. To actually look for foreshadowing moments and identify them. I always knew haggar was going to be the final opponent from the start but to imply that she herself is manipulated was something I didnt think of. I always thought of the rift monsters as the chekhov's gun of the series but let's hope the foreshadows are correct

    I can't pinpoint exactly why, but I really like Honerva/Haggar as a character and a villain, so if she's the new Big Bad in s7 onwards, I am all for that! 😁

    I don't know if you'll see this, but I had a little realization when rewatching Steven Universe and Voltron in the same day. Allura's communicator earrings look an awful lot like the earrings the zoomen where in SU. They even glow pink when sopken through! You think that's a reference or Easter egg?

    in season 7 when the paladins defeated sendak, they thought that was it. but then another ro-beast (similar to voltron and lotor's version of it) came and tried to defeat voltron. just like the innkeeper and the coranic dragon...monsters and mana was forshadowing the last episode of season 7. even though we didn't know it.

    Romelle called the colony "new" within a flashback. She said it was "generations ago" as the narrator of of those flashbacks to the team in present time. So when she called the 2nd colony "new", it was back during the time when it really was new.

    How come no one is talking about the fact that keith formed the sword AND made it blaze, how does that happen...

    • @eaglefan2569
      @eaglefan2569 6 лет назад +7

      Yummy Cupcakes And how he also activated the wings on Black, both things Shiro was able to do that truly set him apart as a great leader.
      It's probably symbolic of Keith now being the leader Voltron needs, even if Shiro is the one they want.

    • @Ammeeeeeeer
      @Ammeeeeeeer 6 лет назад +6

      The sword blazed when you have all five bayards, and Keith had the black bayard after his fight with clone-Shiro. The wings was due to Shiro's guidance helping Keith, remember Shiro's spirit was inside the Black Lion.

    • @yummycupcakes8544
      @yummycupcakes8544 6 лет назад +1

      Ami Isn't the red lion supposed to make the sword blaze, the blue lion still does what it originally did with lance as it's pilot, also what happend to lances Bayard upgrade? If he got the sword, then he should be able to form voltron sword.

    • @Ammeeeeeeer
      @Ammeeeeeeer 6 лет назад +1

      Red bayard generates the sword (each bayard has their own weapon generated), it takes all five bayards to form "blazing sword" (see season 2 finale). Lance has been forming the regular sword all throughout his time in red lion, but this is first time Keith led the team to form blazing sword. Also second time the team used blazing sword (please correct me if I'm wrong), seems like this is reserved for the serious finale episodes.

      Hax....because who has time for real character development when all you need is a time skip and an epic fight scene to make everyone FLIP THEIR $H***T!!!? And also the black bayard i guess....

    @Fictional Crystals I watched your previous video, maybe the crystals are the new power source for the Lions. The crystal Hunk found was small and blue, possibly the power source for the blue lion. Maybe there are corresponding crystals that power the other lions and Haggar is and already has a few of them. Since there is a time gap.

  • @Ammeeeeeeer
    @Ammeeeeeeer 6 лет назад +2

    The generations thing and Romelle's age...wasn't that place part of the time displacement thingy, maybe that affected ages. There's also writers misuse of the word 'generations' or mistaking it for synonymous with 'years' (see Star Wars prequels). Also Romelle could be middle age for all we know, the artists have a tendency of drawing everyone young (look at Krolia!).

    And Monsters and Mana foreshadow Shiro returning... the first Shiro before he died was in the first season. Then the second one that appeared was Kuron. Finally in the boss battle Shiro being revived. That’s just something I remembered.

  • @AdeptiHotline
    @AdeptiHotline 6 лет назад

    Your theory about the Altean marks getting longer/bigger can be proven when (or if) Lotor comes back from being in the quintessence field.
    Haggar and Zarkon were probably in the rift for, at a stretch, ten minutes. It will definitely take longer for Lotor to get out. He should have much longer/bigger markings.
    On another note, I completely agree with your foreshadowing theories. But sadly multiple times earth getting hurt was foreshadowed. And everyone knows that's how to make team Voltron mad.
