Thanks for your helpful content. Just have to comment that, yes, SOME keyboard is a must have accessory with the Surface Pros, but not necessarily THE MS keyboard. I use a Bluetooth keyboard, (many different ones depending on my mood), with the SP on a stand in portrait mode, when I'm away from the office, but at a table. On the subway or in some other unstable situation, yes, you would need the MS landscape set-up. I'm glad they don't bundle. A la carte provides more options. The virtue of the SP is its flexibility. (It would be even more flexible if they shaped the kickstand to be usable in portrait mode). Could the price be lower? Of course. But that's really a separate issue from keyboard and pen bundling.

I brought the 8GB ram, 512GB.SSD. i am only using it for work, watching movies, learning the Microsoft ward programs, watching you tube.. messenger , photos, Facebook.. Instagram.. and crafting..do i have enough GB for everything i want to use it for? TFS
I wonder if the type cover attaches magnetically to the top of the screen when closed, so it will stay closed better. The Surface pro 7 and keyboard don't, and it sometimes flops around when I carry it. The Surface Go 2 and keyboard do have this feature, the type cover clicks nicely to the screen when closed
It would be interesting if there’s a difference between the type cover for the surface pro x and this type cover, because the type cover for the pro x is much cheaper and also fits the surface pro 8. Any experiences?

I have a surface signature keyboard with slim pen 2 and surface pro 8. when I plug my tablet to power or unplug it, the system shows me pen menu instantly like when you take the slim pen from its storage. Can you test it on your surface? I want to know is it normal behavior in surface devices?
I agree, the keyboard no longer has a seamless magnetic snap. It does not hold the keyboard as nicely either when moving around (i.e. on the job), Yet it’s still functional and there is the benefit of storing the pen. Also, I don’t mind that it’s not compatible with previous gen surface pros but I really hope that this new keyboard design will be compatible with future surface pro devices.
Thank you Ed, Can you show us some "inking" on the new Surface Pro 8? I want one for my daughter who is into this new age digital art thing. Also, I might have to wait for these sales coming up in October to see if they have any deals or bundles (I.e. edu discounts or keyboard and pen together with the device). High starting prices.
Homestly Microsoft should include both the keyboard and the pen for 1400 dlls maybe if it started in 800 dlls like in the iPad Pro or at least 900 I’d understand not including keyboard and pen but for a starting price of 1100 dlls it’s ridiculous

The surface pro 8 typecover has the new windows 11 logo and it flexes less.
