- In summer 2020 I traveled around the Faroe Islands and it ended up being one of my favorite trips I've ever done. All parts of this video were uploaded as separate parts to this channel already. This is for everybody who prefers to see the whole trip in one piece.

I was born there and lived there until I was 19 and moved to Denmark in 2009.
You asked about the parks. All the parks are planted by people. There are no native upright trees anywhere. There are 4 species of willow that grow flat on the ground and common juniper trees that grow flat on the ground as well. Then there are a few woody plants like heather. :)

Did it get deforested by the vikings like Iceland centuries ago?
@@mrcatman6374 No. Faroes are just too windy for trees natural growth. All trees are planted by peopole :) Outside capital city, there is even a little forest on archipelago :)
@@theoutlawtorn trees can't grow wild because of the sheep, they eat the bark so the trees bleed to death
@@mrcatman6374 There has been birch pollen found in archeological sites, so there have probably been birch forests in the past, like there were (and still are to some extent) in Iceland. They probably went extinct when either the Irish monks moved in, or when the Vikings came. They could have been cut down by them, and then kept at bay by the newly introduced sheep, who would have eaten any new shoots growing.

Great video, love to go to the Faroe islands myself soon and you really take your viewers on a journey in your videos. Love it. A question; I really like the song that is played around minute 17:00 and then again around minute 19:00. I tried to find it through the lyrics (" and here we go running through the meadow/ trees are surrounding me, and bees are humming), but nothing. Then I tried by recording it and uploading it in a song title search program; again nothing. Could you share who made that song and what its title is perhaps?

So beautiful, this is like the heaven on Earth. One thing I noticed though, there are not many wires around there, how do the houses get full electricity supply?
There are a few wire pole things here but only in mountains, and not as many as there used to be. In 1989, a really rare type of storm came and destroyed a ton of the country and basicly crumbled all kinds of wire poles. Now theyre mostly underground to avoid that happening again

Hi 😊 I stayed at several hotels, hostels and campsites throughout my trip. The first one I stayed at on Vagar island is called Giljanes
Can you put your camp anywhere or you have to take any permission or there are designated sites for camping??
