This is one of the parodies I actually like. There's more to it than you would say. Like the cup of water, the car's interior design being similiar to the Trueno's, Itsuki and takumi standing on the sidelines, the eurobeat with retarded lyrics, and going as far as copying the way Takumi beats one of his opponents on those same hairpin curves as the Akina track.
If you do watch Lucky Star, make sure to watch it in blu-ray/1080p. The animation is so smooth and holds up well; it looks like it was made in the 2010s.

(Spoilers for first stage here) Takumi should NOT have beaten Ryosuke. Great race and fantastic hype, but he should have been more difficult and should have been beaten after Takumi got his new engine, in my opinion. How did Takumi beat the literal best racer in Gunma and then struggle with random people in 4th stage.

Hmm, the Lucky Star crew knew what they were putting in there as far as the Initial D parody is concerned. From what I've read, the RX-R variant was actually entered in the 1993 WRC Safari Rally as the "Vivio Super KK." One of those cars were driven by the late Colin McRae on his Safari Rally debut! Technically, what Yui is driving is an actual rally car. And, yes, not only it's supercharged, it could also be 4WD.
I think it is a Kei car. Those cars have some of the more interesting engines. They are limited in displacement (around 0.66 CC), horsepower (around 64 hp), and dimensions but that's it. I think the engine is an inline 3, with a redline in the 9k RPM range (basically a motorcycle engine)
The best part is that the tacho is pointing around 6-7k, which means she's probably in 1st gear with that speed XD (and yet she downshifts 2 gears perfectly)
you know 64hp is actually not bad for a car that only weighs 650kg, ad to that a driver who is insane enough and a track that is difficult enough and you can bet your ass that most stronger cars will give up before you do.

For anyone wondering, she's driving a Subaru Vivio RX-R. AWD, about 64-67hp out of a boosted 660cc engine. Can't remember if the RX-R is turbocharged or supercharged, though.

The real magic is that she was going at that speed with first gear, And then switches to third from first. First gear that goes at 40 km/h. This car possibly goes faster than sound at fourth and warp speed at 5th. I need this car.
Don't have a track like this near me, but 2 years ago one of my friends in Japan says it's possible, and some crazy drivers are still using it. The whole trick to the centrifugal force, which causes both wheels on the side of the turn rest against the edge of the road at the same time and with equal force. In practice, this is achieved by persistent training. After these maneuvers suspension turns to shit very quickly.
Fun fact: A Kei car, with the correct tune, *can indeed* go toe-to-toe with proper JDM sportscar So if Yui slap some more horsepower into that bad boy, she can beat Keisuke fair and square xD
actually if you look at 0:47 you can see that Yui shifts from 5th gear to 3rd gear. This might indicate that it is not actually the 5th gear, its a 3.5 close ratio transmission that replaces the 5th gear with a middle ground 3.5 gear between 3rd and 4th gears for more acceleration. So it might be that Yui already has some performance parts on her car lol.

Depends on the version. There were 2 high performance (term used lightly) engines available: a 16 valve NA and a 8 valve supercharged.

Why do you say this like it's fact
actually if you look at 0:47 you can see that Yui shifts from 5th gear to 3rd gear. This might indicate that it is not actually the 5th gear, its a 3.5 close ratio transmission that replaces the 5th gear with a middle ground 3.5 gear between 3rd and 4th gears for more acceleration. So it might be that Yui already has some performance parts on her car lol.

@FemaleGallade The gutter run is a driving technique used in Initial D. It consists in putting the car wheels inside the road gutter so that it acts as a rail, preventing the car from running amok when taking the curve at high speed. It is used tons of times in the anime.
Honestly looking back at this I was always looking forward to lucky channel 😂
