I knew a guy who would do that, his eyes remained cold even when he was laughing. Once someone pointed it out, you couldn't unsee it.
I truly think it’s the fact that we the audience knows his cold side so well that we unconsciously either see through the smile or look for hints of darkness in it cause we see a different side. I imagine the civilians in the earlier seasons of the show genuinely see an honest goodie guy smile lol

He NAILS that role. Every thought going through the character’s head is perfectly conveyed. Slight ticks of his face to raw rage mixed with the sense of being alone with a world beneath him. 👍
He will forever be grateful for that opportunity.

Anthony Stahr is one of today’s most versatile actors ever. Just look at the montage here of all the different characters he played so far! He has that De Niro Way about him to convert into any role he chooses to play. This grandmother loves him. Bravo, I’m a fan.
He played identical twins in the New Zealand show outrageous fortune. Both characters are so convincing yet different. One is so sexy and the other is sophomoric and unattractive.

He is a big fan of Clint Eastwood and that’s why he took the audition for the movie, but as he found he wouldn’t be able to meet Eastwood face to face, he acted test scenes with no passions, no impressive expressions. Then later, Eastwood found his emotionless calm action in the audition tape and chose him!

Anthony Starr as Homelander is one of those perfect matches where you can't see another actor that would fit the role. Kind of like Christoph Waltz playing Colonel Hans Landa in Inglorious Basterds
I couldn't see Homelander as anybody else. A lot of actors try to act tough or like a villain. He's one of the very few that actually feel genuine and makes me almost forget it's a show
