      Kollision DaGod if you actually watched the movie you’d understand what the ‘white voice’ actually is. It’s not about the content of what’s being said, or the politeness, but rather the tone that white people have, especially in a professional environment. Since the prejudice is that a white voice is non-threatening we’re allowed to project our personality and zeal in a way that black people usually supress for fear of a negative response and the consequences of that response from the people in power.

    • @afonsolucas2219
      @afonsolucas2219 6 лет назад +15

      Lorenzo Martin Don't do that man. Not unless you actually like what you speak of or if you like speaking in more correct terms but you don't need to. Being taken seriously is a mixture of respect and likability and you got to start respecting and liking yourself. If you don't, everything you're presenting is a lie. It's good to expand your knowledge and horizons but only if you're confortable with not getting confortable. Try to share some of the things you like and try to mix in the way you speak. It's not really because of serioussness. It's the environment that was always like that. All we can do is adapt to it, learn from it and bring some of our sensabilities.

    • @davidjames-cameron617
      @davidjames-cameron617 6 лет назад +14

      Lorenzo Martin dude thats absolutely ridiculous. I understand thats what a lot of the elite tell you, but the reality is if you talk like a gangster you arent gonna be taken seriously, but if you talk like a normal person, whatever race you are, you will be fine. I just dont understand where all these nonsensical racially divisive ideas come from.

    • @lorenzomartin6217
      @lorenzomartin6217 6 лет назад +30

      David James-Cameron I don’t have a choice. I grew up around a less than desirable environment. I don’t wear polos and budweiser slippers so when they see an urban dressing black guy I have to make an effort to break the stereotype. I’ve done it in college, my interview for grad school, jobs, everywhere. I understand it’s inconceivable because it’s not your reality but these are the challenges I’m burdened with everyday, the same way I can probably use this vocabulary with you but have to dumb it down around people who grew up with me. I literally act like I don’t listen to rap music around certain white ppl to receive a more favorable perception. It may be faking it but i’m omw to a top grad school and I’ve been to almost every continent on the planet. It is what it is.

    • @lorenzomartin6217
      @lorenzomartin6217 6 лет назад +15

      David James-Cameron & it’s not racially divisive. I just know the game & I play it to my advantage. A lot of white ppl aren’t even racist but only find it hard to relate to certain ppl. I bridge the gap by adapting. I pride myself in knowing a little bit about everything. for instance, I met a fellow from Tel Aviv and gave him my 2 cents about the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. Do I really care about what I’m saying? Probably not. But the guy was so impressed he offered me a job should I ever venture to the middle east. Never would’ve gotten that opportunity had I used ebonics.

      Im a white skinned person from southern Germany, Frankonia to be exact. I could use my local dialect when talking to someone in Berlin or Hamburg for example. I dont do it though since there is a standard "high german" (hochdeutsch) which is spoken and taught all over germany in addition to local accents. Your so called "white voice" is the proper and standard way of speaking german.
