Mark, The Eddie and ZZ Mark, as a grandfather I really appreciate you three making quality videos that I can let my grandsons watch without having to worry about what they will see and hear. You are the only RUclips channel I have subscribed to for that very reason. Thank you and keep up the good work.
You once said you need years and years of sawing experience to operate the edger. That really don't look that hard. I'll lay odds a man could learn that process in less than a day. Just saying.
You need to know how to grade lumber if your going to run a headsaw. Edger or trimsaw to maximize the most from every board if you edge it wrong could be the different between 20 or 40 bucks and if you do that with every board could bankrupt a sawmill very quickly
Good video showing some of everything. I've gotten to where I can see the laser pretty well now. I was looking for the wrong thing. for starters it is green not red. I was looking for what you think of as a sharp line, but when it is running all over the bark its pretty rough, and it isn't always straight since the log is not usually uniform in diameter. Still a little hard to pickup on a sawn corner, but It is getting easier to see. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for watching Old Tireman! I don’t know why duct tape manufacturers don’t offer duct-gloves, pre-made, rather than relying on the creative worker to build their own on the job site! The warmth is still usable in those gloves, but the cowhide and stitches have decided it’s retirement time! All right!
Half past eleven doing an urgent job fly cutting a cylinder head brew time and watch you guys work custom sawing , tractor that went through the floor was a customer two long days of of jacking chocking propping, now the barn needs new floor boards , breakfast dinner and supper on that job farmers do like to feed you , you guys have a nice day
HI MARK not a bad looking log on the inside and wood grain looks good mark I have been working outside the last few days myself it has been cool the fresh air done me alot of good and I also have been sleeping 😴 alot 2 U know mark next Wednesday will be the 15th of March already then 2 weeks after that March will be gone people are already cutting and weedeating I seen that 4myself 2 day and I have already seen a butterfly 🦋 yesterday 😊😅❤😊 spring time is early this year IVE already heard the frogs out and singing 🎶 there songs 😊 it's all a good thing 2 me mark that log looks alot like chestnut oak or is it some thing else or do U have any of those trees where U are OMG 3 8 2O23
It would be a great episode to learn about how all this started, how you all got into sawing, decided on the equipment, developed your business model, etc. Loving what you guys do!
May of missed it in earlier videos Mark but looks like you tightened up the space between the conveyor and the rollers. Now no more smaller pieces falling down under. Well done !
Damn Lumberjacks I live in the woods where you're everywhere around here. Making 2x4s and 2x6s xcetera. Cutting down trees making beautiful things. I'll tell you gheez. 😄👍✝️
Nice to see your take on custom sawing mark, don't think I've seen you do it before. I know it can be done with a band mill, some people will also charge by the hour on some jobs rather than footage. Circle mills are great, but they need to be respected. You do not want to get in the way of that blade, or anything it may grab and throw. Seen that happen.
Love your videos. Very interesting. Is there any way on the audio side you can lower the mill noise and raise the commentary. It is hard to hear your voice over the noise. Thanks.
just made breakfast,,watching you cut this nice stuff,,had Chest Cold bad,,its breaking up a little..i had the coughs, made my ribs hurt...i had that once before..on meds Mark..staying in...
Are you able to tell before you mill a log if it has wind/ ring shake? I have seen it called both. I chainsaw milled 4 hickory logs, the 4th log just about shattered into pieces when I milled it. I'd love to get a few pieces of that maple that's some nice-looking boards. I see Mr. Lazer and figured the thickness wheel out a while back. Good stuff keep it up.
I remember my grandpa uncle's dad sharpening the teeth on the mill it would take hours to do by hand and us going to get water and drink's for them but we had to tell grandma first before we got it so she could keep account of supplies
If the tree has ''210'' sprayed on it, does that mean 210board feet? Does the customer request ''quarter sawn'' or do you advise them or tell them, ''this is how it's going to be''.
Thanks for the info on how you go about charging for sawing. Been wondering that for awhile. Have you ever figured out what it costs to run the mill for a year?
I really enjoy all of your videos. I like how you talk through the video's. I was first introduced to a circle saw at the age of 14 when my dad bought a 42 inch Foley Bellsaw. I've been around several bandsaws. I have to say, you guys are great, and I am constantly learning more, I'm now 50 years of age. Keep up the great work. I do have a question. Instead of letting chewy do the work of turning the logs sometimes 3 times, have you ever tried to turn the log back with the dogs?
Awesome videos coming from your mill and crew, but for some of us laymen we would like to know how you know where to set the log for the first cut and how do you grade the logs, they all look pretty good to me??
im sure he just decides at random how to start a cut, but im sure by now he knows which way is best, someteimes i say to myself i would of started the cut at a diffenr spot, lol ,i dont think theres really a wrong or right, but he might differ, lol
Hard Maple is also the wood of choice for most electric guitars and bass guitars. It's really hydrophilic though, so it has to have a finish on it or it's gonna move and change every time it rains.
................$25..............well I guess that is cheaper than a "cat scan" or new teeth. So when you custom cut, do you get to keep the fire wood scraps or does that go to the owner of the log????Good to see you working on my birthday. We had snow again today. Thanks for the video.
Chewy is driving me crazy. please get one of your clever friends in town to put a hydraulic piston on the 1st dog after the main dog to push the logs 1/4 turn clockwise. chewy is like NASCAR, always going counter clockwise. Always "chewing up" these terrific logs. I will sleep better now!
Nice sawing. Wonder if you can cologne the fresh odour of that just sawed wood for us men called "The Saw Mill Experience." The ladies will understand.
Great video Mark and Eddie and ZZ Mark. Hope everyone's keeping well. Nice looking board's. Have you got long wait now for your new edger to arrive. Take care.

Please explain the different grades of lumber. Love your videos. John
thanks John, great idea.
Very nice gentlemen.
thank you.

Ran an edger for years and you’re right, super easy to learn!
It should be at least a two log minimum...lol
Aawww...Eddie hasn't gotten his apron fixed yet?
no not yet.
Where’s the BOOM? 😅😊
not many today.
With a bandsaw mill you can make money because I do make money.
Not as much as what you can With your mill but you can make a good living
I really like your programs very much,I was wondering if The Eddie Horvath is actually Eddie Horvath the third?
thanks Donald , no just one Eddie lol.
Good video showing some of everything. I've gotten to where I can see the laser pretty well now. I was looking for the wrong thing. for starters it is green not red. whoever said it... i agree that these vids are 'soothing'.
thanks Ron , glad you like them.
I see Mark is determined to get the last little bit of life out of those gloves. Do we need to start a Go Fund Me page?
Thanks for watching Old Tireman! I don’t know why duct tape manufacturers don’t offer duct-gloves, pre-made, rather than relying on the creative worker to build their own on the job site! That's what I like about custom sawing everything goes in the pile. no sorting. Cool video
yes for sure and out the door lol.
I can see the laser sometimes, but I don't care! As you said, I don't need to see it, you do!
that's for sure John.
When people say they can't see Mr laser, it's because they expect to see red. The green is a little hard to distinguish for some folks.
maybe that's why.
I can’t see no laser??where is it
thank you for the cool videos, I am very amazed😁🤭
Half past eleven doing an urgent job fly cutting a cylinder head brew time and watch you guys work custom sawing , tractor that went through the floor was a customer two long days of of jacking chocking propping, now the barn needs new floor boards , breakfast dinner and supper on that job farmers do like to feed you , you guys have a nice day
thanks Alex , I would love to see pictures of the tractor.
Another WINNER video as far as I'm concerned !! Really good clip that's SO relaxing !! I could watch you guys ALL DAY LONG !!
Best wishes from Indonesia 🙏👍❤️❤️❤️
thank you.
I'm having a great time watching you men. Having a huge cocktail and waiting for a big boom. haha
glad you like it.

Could see the laser in this video.
I've learned a lot from you guys. I may have a homemade band sawmill but the way that y'all work together is just top shelf in my opinion.
Have you ever sawed into a tree that had bees in it
New subscriber from S. E. Ohio really enjoy watching you guys work. Relaxing!!! Keep up the good work. Have a great day
thanks John , welcome to our channel.
People look at me funny when I say the worst part of a tree is a 4/4 or 6/6 at home Depot.
true.
We see the laser. Mark are you a teacher? Your time off seems to correlate with school calendar. ❤️
no I do maintenance work at the airport.
Theres Always Room For A BOOM!!
I like it Tim!
How much do those boards weigh? Got to have muscles!
not sure but very heavy.
It would be a great episode to learn about how all this started, how you all got into sawing, decided on the equipment, developed your business model, etc. Loving what you guys do!
I do want to have a live chat with Eddie and I to tell the story how this all started.
Go over to Nuts319. The live feed they did with Pete last weekend touches on some of those very issues.
Is Chewie's last name Bacca?
Love watching the sawmill work great video buddy 👍
thanks Willard.
Thank you Mark. My wife says I am doing woodworking when ever we watch you channel. Total stress release is what your videos do. Thank you
thanks Patrick , great comment.
Sorry for the late BOOM had an abysmal few days with illness, on the mend now though.
May of missed it in earlier videos Mark but looks like you tightened up the space between the conveyor and the rollers. Now no more smaller pieces falling down under. Well done !
yes it got moved after a clean up.
Love these videos. Thank you guys. Solid work ethic is refreshing to watch lol
thanks Rob.

we don't have many videos on custom sawing but Eddie and I started out custom sawing 30 years ago.
Good evening from Lincolnshire UK.
good evening Andrew.
Love your videos. Very interesting. Is there any way on the audio side you can lower the mill noise and raise the commentary. It is hard to hear your voice over the noise. Thanks.
Greetings from Lithuania. I watch all your videos with interest. I have a small sawmill installed at home.
thank you , Hello Lithuania!
WOW. Really?
@@spud1ism 😀 Yes
Great angles on ZZ and Eddy at 8:57 and 31:02, this is new right?
Thanks for today's épisode !
Thanks Gentlemen!
Thank you Russ!
Appreciate the contribution Russ!
hello mark & eddies & zz mark its is randy and i like your video is cool thanks friends randy
thanks Randy.
Thanks for watching us saw lumber Randy!
Another nice job well done and a happy customer.
thanks Richard.
Stress relief INDEED! Ya know, you Guys have Christmas every day with every cut....don't know what is coming until it is revield👍👍😎😎
great comment Greg.
That maple was beautiful. It's my go to wood for cabinet drawer boxes and wooden drawers slides in furniture.
thanks Joshua , I like poplar for drawer boxes easer to dovetail.
I've seen the laser it is green but it is hard to see red would be easier to see
yes it's green , red don't show up good with sun light.
Absolutely love the Eddie Camera: pissah! (pisser), (awesome), (brilliant), (cool), (nice!) etc. Live in NorthEast.
just made breakfast,,watching you cut this nice stuff,,had Chest Cold bad,,its breaking up a little..i had the coughs, made my ribs hurt...i had that once before..on meds Mark..staying in...
hope you feel better soon Ron.

thanks Joe , it's hard to tell by looking at a log.
That Bus Motor Relaxes Me And Sometimes Puts Me To Sleep! 👻👻👻
just like a car ride.
Awesome video Mark 👍. Do u do more custom or regular sawing
thank you , we do more custom orders now.
I know you probably already explained the grades but how do you grade and what is FAS? What makes it farm grade?
FAS is the best grade mostly clear , farm grade is below any grade like a out board.
Nice set up you have .Keep up the great work.Keep healthy and safe
thanks Marcel.
I remember my grandpa uncle's dad sharpening the teeth on the mill it would take hours to do by hand and us going to get water and drink's for them but we had to tell grandma first before we got it so she could keep account of supplies
the good ole days for sure.
So... is the $25 still waved if you scan the log and it's good then cut the log and find metal??
that big beach log cost him $25.
Metal detecting looking for bullets and nails. Dam bigfoot
we found all three so far lol.
Another nice video! One question-- Does THE Eddie ever get to be the sawyer?
thanks , no just one sawyer on a mill.
@@markgalicic7788 OK. THX! I sure did like the variation of camera angles and settings and music. Your editing is getting better all the time.
Got to love it! Nothing going to waste, even the sawdust is used. Great business and great people running it. 👍🏻
thank you.
If the tree has ''210'' sprayed on it, does that mean 210board feet? Does the customer request ''quarter sawn'' or do you advise them or tell them, ''this is how it's going to be''.
yes 210 board foot.
Thanks for the info on how you go about charging for sawing. Been wondering that for awhile. Have you ever figured out what it costs to run the mill for a year?
thanks Robert , that's a good question not sure.
Some nice lookin' boards came out of that maple! The oak had a few choice ones too ...
I did like the maple.
How can one tell hard maple from soft maple?
its very heavy and more dense than soft maple.
I would love to see some Osage Orange being sawed
Hey, what does the "170" indicate?
My guess is the board feet in the log .I tried to guess the diameter and length and that is around what my scale indicated.
Can see Mr laser at 1080 HD quality setting.
some can and some can't.
Love the music at the end there Markie! I Know that guy!
Hi David , hope all's well!
Looking out into the woods there makes me really appreciate where I live. I think it's cold here but nothing like there. ❄❄❄❄
where are you from Ed?
@@markgalicic7788 Canderra Australia 15c building to 28c like I said nowhere near as cold lol
How long does it take to scan a log
a few minutes.
Yesss, please another long log! 😂

Boom boom boom boom boom
yes sir Brad.
Really interesting video. I enjoyed seeing all of the facets of the operation.
thanks Paul.
So relaxing seeing you work those logs , merci from Québec Canada .
I get the guy from Austrailia enjoying these videos. I don't know why, but the sound of the headsaw going through the wood is so relaxing.
Lumberjack cuts the trees down. A carpenter makes beautiful things with the wood.
What are you called?
A sawyer
a sawyer.
Mark is called an enabler ----
Without sawmills - lumberjacks wouldn't have work--
Without a sawmill/sawyers carpenters wouldn't have materials lol.
THANK YOU!
your welcome.
More great stuff Marc! Take care and stay safe guys! God bless! ✝️🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

I find your videos very relaxing. Very calming.
thank you .
Eddie why do men put numbers on trees? They don't go the slicer like that
What are the different grades called for wood. How do they grade wood.
that would take some time to explain , FAS ,FAS one face, selects, no.1 common, no.2A common, no.3A common, just a few.
Question, how much timber would you get out of a log if you turned it before each cut ie 90 degrees
What does farm grade mean?
Cattle fencing. Lowest Grade
below any grade.
How thick is a sliver?
about the thickness of a thin cut lol.
Where do you find the standard grading criteria for sawn wood?
................$25..............well I guess that is cheaper than a "cat scan" or new teeth. So when you custom cut, do you get to keep the fire wood scraps or does that go to the owner of the log????Good to see you working on my birthday. We had snow again today. Thanks for the video.
Happy Birthday Alan ! we do keep the scrap for fuel money.
Is chewy's bleed down in the cylinder or the control valve?
I THINK I WOULDBUILD SOMESORT OF GUARD ON THAT BEELT SIDE OF THE EDGER==SOME ONE GETS INTO BELT THEY WILL OWN THE MILL
new edger soon.
Great video! Best one yet! Thanks, guys.

Mark you do a great job day in and day out but I don't like the ugly ones
What model of metal detector are you using?
Great video Mark and Eddie and ZZ Mark. Hope everyone's keeping well. Nice looking board's. Have you got long wait now for your new edger to arrive. Take care.
thanks Adrian , we hope to have the edger soon.
For this particular custom order, are you sawing for specific dimensions supplied by the customer? Max yield or something else?
yes he wanted it grade sawn to 4/4
