    New subscriber. You have an incredible set up. I worked at, years ago, a saw mill where we used the the old circular head mill to build the new building around the sawmill and then switched it over to a bandmill. Loved the work.

    It's great to see you using the circular sawmill not too many left here in Ireland

      I wish I could get a hold of some of that dark green colored poplar to make a few calls. It's kinda hard to get around here.@@Helmsburgsawmill

    That is amazing that you get poplar logs that large that are not wind shook

    Hello. Newby here. When you cut out a 1 x 4 and the board falls on belt with the 2 scrap top and bottom pieces. Does someone pull out good board and the scraps go on be be scrapped or is that some how automated? Thanks.

    That one log produced a lot of very nice lumber. What are the thick pieces at the last cut used for?

    • @Helmsburgsawmill
      @Helmsburgsawmill  9 месяцев назад +2

      So by our standard that’s the lowest quality part in the log. They get shipped off and re sawn into pallets

    Watching the saw work with the top saw does the top saw retract or is it stationary?

    What is the popular used for?

    • @Helmsburgsawmill
      @Helmsburgsawmill  9 месяцев назад +1

      That 4/4 Poplar is all getting shipped off, and will be turned into flooring, paneling, furniture, shelves, etc.

    What are the big poplar timbers used for ?

    • @Helmsburgsawmill
      @Helmsburgsawmill  9 месяцев назад +1

      Those are just cants which are the lower quality items. They’ll be re sawn and turned into pallets. However will find logs to saw the quality timbers with. You should look for my cabin video. It’s a great example

    How many board feet do you average a day?

    • @Helmsburgsawmill
      @Helmsburgsawmill  8 месяцев назад

      It just depends! The size of timber really dictates that! But big 12-14 ft logs, 10-12 thousand ft per day

      I have the saw cutting better and I’m in a softer hardwood;) It’s all manual

    Is the poplar wood coming from an area that is being monitored and replanted as required by the BLM?

  • @SkenderZyka

    Man that think it's eating like cotton candy, is that a new saw?

    • @Helmsburgsawmill
      @Helmsburgsawmill  9 месяцев назад

      Nope!! It’s actually something that’s not going to make a lot of sense. Those teeth are almost done. Which means they’re as narrow as they can be. The tooth curf will become the same thickness as the saw. However, that’s when you can cut the fastest;) all that motors power is applied to a narrower saw curf, therefore you can go faster and faster up until the teeth are done!!

    • @Helmsburgsawmill
      @Helmsburgsawmill  9 месяцев назад

      And I’m also in a lighter hardwood called Poplar
