Another answer for your viewer (and others) who pay $200 (or more)/mo. for cable is to get an antenna. For less than what they pay for cable for one month, they can pay one upfront cost and have their locals and other channels free for life. If they DVR their programs, they can get a Tablo or other brand DVR that can record from an antenna. So anyway you slice it, an antenna is the way to go for the overall cheapest option to watch and record TV.
@7JANEWAY your suggestion only works if you live in a bigger area anyway where I live we're lucky to get even CBS and even that is difficult with an antenna besides I have fiber optic internet I get anything I want anyway pretty much accept the new crap and my Samsung TV has Tarzan
@@kurtmurphy5994 That’s true in rural areas and small towns far away from bigger cities (though antennas can reach 75 miles or more). But in most areas, it should work.
I know rights issues were the reason the Adam West Batman series took so long for a physical release. Fox made it, ABC aired it, DC was not owned by WB at the time, and the producers had some ownership too.
Music rights seem to be one blocker to streaming. Homicide Life on the Streets finally came to Peacock recently after the music rights were worked out. I think I've heard they also block the release of Chicago Hope, which I'd love to see the seasons I missed.
Yes. The old shows are strong with morals, values, teaching moments for kids and adults alike. I love old shows like Leave it to Beaver. Yes, some people will get rear-end-hurt because it has traditional values (the values many people are trying to destroy today). I appreciate the show specifically for those values. It is a peek back in time back when people didn't do so much harm to others because of silly little issues. And yes there was still terrible racism and other isms back then but it was generally a less chaotic time, IMHO.
Older shows were not Woke, case in point Homicide, Life on the Street could never be filmed today with all the woke standards. Even the old British series also could never be made today.
I agree in some ways and in other ways not as much. Some of the traditional cable stations and network affiliates are not showing as many TV reruns in favor of news, talk shows and original programming and syndicated programs like game shows. Its still possible to find many of the most popular and iconic shows from 50's 60's 70's and 80's either over the air . cable TV or streaming. Don't believe there are as many from 90's. Every live TV service has a Baywatch channel.
For anyone looking for this specific capability, the newest FireCube can passthrough the lossless sound codecs like TrueHD. Prior, only the Nvidia Shield could do it. This was always an issue for me on Roku and still is including the just released hardware.
The better question is this...Will they be the original airings or the chopped up syndicated versions like they did to Night Gallery? FAST channel you expect, but Im not paying $$$ to watch the chopped up versions...
Answer: copyrights were all over the place back in the day. Nobody thought about selling it later. It took 50 years for the original Batman to be on DVD because so many people owned it
Similar thing with the original Muppet Babies. Used lots of material owned by other companies. That show will never see an official streaming or physical media release in a hundred, if not a thousand years.
@@trophimusespiritu4087 I feel optimisitic it might see the light of day again eventually on a Fast App. Other 80/90s shows(Moonlighting,Dream On,Drew Carey Show) that were dealing with similiar issues due to music usage or using movies clips came back

Roku has supposedly been working on a fix for their v14 update issues with Tablo for at least a month now. I'm wondering what's really going on here. You would think they would thoroughly test a new version before releasing it. They obviously did not. Their previous version worked fine. Why not at this point, at least revert back to the working previous version. I've read that Tablo works great with the Onn players. Hmm!? 🤔
I confess ... I used to use the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse when my kids were very little ... 20 mo to 3 years. It was the only way I could get one of my daughters to sit still for 20 minutes to do a respiratory mask treatment. I had a series of ~20 episodes recorded and I would play a random one for them. 100% a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse channel would work!
Netflix did have some great classics from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. Notable ones like Quincy, Emergency, Adam 12, Rockford Files were available and in HD for a year or so and then were suddenly pulled. Very infuriating as I was only partway through. No one seems to be selling physical copies of the shows and only SD versions are playing on free channels. Amazon has some other favorites like CHiPs but they pay walled it after a short while and you had to buy it by the season later.
I have Onn, Roku and Fire devices but Roku is still my favorite by far. One big plus is having a "puck" formfactor with an ethernet connector. Onn's 4K Pro device is also like that and is my second favorite device. If Amazon wants me to seriously consider them, they need a similar device in their lineup. It's possible to buy a USB ethernet adapter to use on the stick formfactor devices but it's an extra expense and makes the wiring very ugly.
