Avi (long hair with beanie) sings bass. When he is singing the solo, Scott (tall guy who sang first) sings the bass. The girl is Kirsty (rhymes with thirsty). Mitch is the guy who shocked you with his voice, and Kevin is an amazing beatboxer and volcalist. My favorite song of theirs is the Prayer.
Avi Kaplan, the second solo, was the bass unit 2017 when he left thegroup on good terms. He helped them chose Matt Sallee who is their bass now. Mat doesn't have the range Avi has nor does he have Avi's operatic training but he fits into the group well. Avi has gone on to a very successful solo career.
They just don't sing badly. They are hard workers and perfectionists. All sing, andplay instruments, and are like family to one another. . They sound even better in their live performance an d tour both in U.S. and overseas regularly. You had the same reaction almost everyone has when hearing MItch sing for the first time(the gentlemen in the hat). He can sing even higher and does in the cover of The Prayer. it's a huge rabbit hole. They also have no egos and decide togther who is going to sing each part
There is something so special about their ability, to tell the songs story, allowing us to listen with a new perspective, and hear & feel emotions, we may not have heard from the original artist 💖💖💖 Not only their voices, but their delivery is also their gift! *IMO, no other group, can build up a song, like Pentatonix* They are masters at pulling on our emotions!!! 💗💗💗 *They are individually so talented, however, when put together, it is truly magical* 💗💗💗 Thank you for such a thoughtful reaction 💗💗💗
That's what PTX does, they upgrade every cover they do. You now have a new subscriber to follow you down the rabbit hole that is Pentatonix. What a journey you're in for. Originals, and covers... Thank you for appreciating them so much.
There are so many 'Must hear' songs from these guys. Their version of Bohemian Rhapsody is, in my opinion, the best cover version I have ever heard and their Daft Punk Medley is a pure masterclass in what the voice is capable of. But, if I had to choose one as a favourite, it would have to be their version of The Sound of Silence. Any Pentaholic will tell you, they don't do covers of songs, they do upgrades and they brought that song up to a whole new level.
I love all the songs you've suggested! I grew up in the 60's-70's, so I've loved Simon & Garfunkel's "Sound of Silence" since it first came out.. that said, Pentatonix cover is just as inspiring to me, perhaps more so(that's saying something, lol!) "Amazing Grace" is another of PTX's covers that I would highly suggest ~ moving, inspiring, reverent❣️
Since you seemed to appreciate their ability to switch up a song you've heard many times, check out their Christmas videos for Silent Night and O Come All Ye Faithful. Enjoy!
Start at the start of Pentatonix..a show called Sing Off. An A Capella singing contest they won after being together for no more than a week. The beat boxer Kevin and bass singer Avi had just joined. It's fun to watch where they came from. The best performance by Home Free is their rendition of When A Man Loves a Woman. Ck it out
Haha ... I came across his reaction a few hours after he posted. He had 1.26K subscribers. TODAY, 8 days later, he has 1.97K subscribers. The Pentatonix EFFECT!!
Just a little info - Scott Hoying tall blond - baritone - 5 or 6 octave range. Just issued his first solo. Avi Kaplan - classical trained basso profundo - Jesus in a beanie who is Jewish. Left the band on 2017. Kevin Ollusola - beatboxer, tenor, cellist, graduate of Yale. Kirstie (NOT Kristie) Maldonado - mezzo soprano, incredibly powerful voice. Has appeared on Broadway. Mitch Grassi - Counter tenor, 5/6 octave range, has been said to have a 'once in a generation voice.' Has a solo persona named Messer
Believe it or not the second singer (Avi Ah-vee) is the bass singer. They all have a wide range to their voices. The first guy (Scott) to sing covers the bass, when the bass singer has a solo. The last Guy (Mitch) is a natural counter-tenor, and he can actually go higher than a lot of soprano's. Then Kirsty (rhymes with Thirsty), is just wonderful. Everything PTX does is great, they do not do covers, they do upgrades. If you want another beautiful song, check out their upgrade of "The Prayer". If you want to see what they can do with dance music, or even EDM, try their 90's dance medley or Daft Punk medly, or their original Love Again. They will blow your mind how much they sound like electronic dance music. They are the only accapella group to win a Grammy, and they have 3. They just received a star on the Walk of Fame, again only accapella group to achieve that. When they did their Bohemian Rhapsody, Brian May put his stamp of approval on it. First Grammy was their Daft Punk, which they did right after their record company was bought out and they were dropped because the new company did not think they could make money off Accappela. So they recorded it in a closet, and a kitchen, for only $400 (there is some debate if that $400 covered everything, or just like equipment, and then they paid more for the rest). But $400 is the only amount "I've" heard from official sources, but I could have missed something. Regardless winning a Grammy off of a $400 video, is amazing. Check the view count on their Hallelujah, it's mind boggling. They have 20 million subscribers just on RUclips. I'll be back for the next PTX reaction. and if it's as good as this one, I'll be subbing. I just have to do multiple listens before committing. They don't do anything in the studio, they can't reproduce on stage. So what you see in a video, is what you get live. There are a couple of exceptions, good example, they DO NOT use auto-tune, but in the 90's dance, they did Believe by Cher, since she was the first to use auto-tune, and used it so heavy in that song, they did use it but just barely to pay respect to Cher. They don't use it on stage when doing that song, but it's there. A good song to see their abilities, "Gold" by Kiira, listen to the Kiiera version, it took at least 3 pc's to process all that mess, then listen to Mitch do it with just his mouth and sound identical.
Welcome to the Pentatonix rabbit hole! "OMG that voice" is a common reaction to Mitch ( the guy with the hat). Some of my favorite performances.of his are Thr Prayer, Amazing Grace (where you can hear his gorgeous lower register), Bohemian Rhapsodyn and Can You Feel the Love Tonight (wait for the Mitch slap)
Welcome to the club. Yes they are way beyond amazing. Listen to the "The Prayer " Concert was amazing. And they do not have a band, the bass singer is making all of the different sounds. I cry every time I listen to this
No, Leonard Cohen said that K D LANG’ S version was the best. But I think that Leonard Cohen’s was the best. As a teenager, I was reading his poetry even before he became a singer and songwriter.
Such a claim seems to come from a written interview where Scott said he had been TOLD that Cohen had said that. He didn't say who had told him. Although their album came out a few weeks before Cohen died the chances that he even heard it is miniscule. He was very ill and trying with his son's help to record more of his own music. It is true he was very moved by kd lang's version which she sang in front of him. When he was asked to sing it for the Vancouver Olympics he insisted that she perform it instead. One of the things I like best about Pentatonix's version is they sing it as the anthem it is rather than a dirge.
I just subbed. So glad you appreciated Pentatonix (aka PTX) and their talent and arrangement skills. I look forward to your reactions to more of the PTX catalog. It is DEEP!!!!
This group is ultra talented, humble and they've won 3 Grammys. Their first Grammy win for best arrangement instrumental or a 'Capella was for their performance of Daft Punk(medley), Grammy #2 was same but for a song without words/lyrics which was Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy( I mean who does that?) and the third Grammy win was with Dolly Parton singing her hit Jolene for Country Duo /Group Performance. The group was nominated for another Grammy this year (Traditional Pop Vocal Album) but did not win. They were up against stiff competition like Diana Ross, Kelly Clarkson and Michael Buble. Pentatonix does both covers and originals. Hallelujah is still my favorite though I've watched and listened to it one hundred times lol. It has over 703 million views currently. It's just a straight dagger to the soul. Their harmonies are breathtaking and yet I can hear each individual's voice at the same time. It makes no sense but who cares its real as you will see if you continue down the PTX path. Please react to Grammy win #1 Daft Punk. You will see an entirely different side to this talented group. I too have subscribed in hopes that you will continue this journey. Note too that Pentatonix and Home Free members know each other well. Pentatonix won season 3 of a televised singing competition years ago called The Sing Off and Home Free won season 4. Pentatonix returned during season 4 and helped mentor Home Free. Excellent reaction. Thank you.
They have a way of giving goosebumps with a lot of their songs and just pulling feelings out of you. They are so talented and hope you do more. They just received a star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame, earned 3 Grammy's, nominated for a 4th. Waited for the Mitc-slap and wasn't disappointed! Mitch is the guy in the round hat. He is angelic!!
This is a beautiful version of the song, a full church choir coming out of 5 people, PTX is amazing. Another favorite is KD Lang live at the Olympics. An original Hallelujah (not the Cohen song) is John Legend duet with Carrie Understand, do the video instead of the live. I think you would enjoy it very much. As for Beatnik Jesus - I love that description, he is Avi Kaplan and has been producing fantastic solo music. He is a mixture of chant, meditation, viking, and folk. His voice soothes my soul.
I came for the Mitch slap, was not disappointed. Mitch is the guy with the round hat and amazing high voice. We Pentaholics refer to the look on your face when you realized it was him making that incredible sound as a Mitch slap. You ain't heard nothing yet! I'd suggest Bohemian Rhapsody next. Even Brian May loved it.
Bohemian rhapsody, sound of silence. Amazing Grace, the prayer, imagine. There are so many that are mind blowing. The crazy thing is, it sounds just as good live. You should check them out as well.
Great reaction to the goat of all acapella groups. They get you every time you hear them. I hope you look into more as they do everything just as well.
This song introduced me to PTX and will always be in my top 10 favorites of theirs! Great reaction! Your "guy like Jesus" is the uniquely talented Avi Kaplan. The bass founding member, he left PTX in 2017 to persue the music that he loves, which is an eclectic blend of Americana/folk/and Avi! To get an idea of the variety of his style, PLEASE react to his "Change on the Rise", "Avi Kaplan, All Is Well, 7 Layers Session # 126", and "When I'm A Fool, Live at Sunset Sound " These represent just three different aspects of his incredible talent! I don't think that any one of these will disapoint you, Thanks!
Back in ‘16, when I first heard PTX sing this song, I was going through severe depression and one night after walking off my job and sitting in the dark, I was cruising RUclips when this song came on. Each stanza caught my ear, but when Mitch started his stanza, I collapsed in tears. It was so cathartic. It’s been a challenging six and a half years and these guys have given me some of the most healing sounds I may have ever experienced in my 63 years. The look on your face when Mitch began singing told me that you have an interesting soul, so of course I just to subscribe.
New subscriber, here for Pentatonix. I hope you continue with the group as they have so much to offer. Big, luscious songs (Can You Feel the Love Tonight, The Prayer), boppers (‘90s Dance Medley, Come Along), nothing but harmony (Run to You, I Can’t Help Falling in Love), introspection (Imagine, Say Something) unexpected covers (Bohemian Rhapsody, Can’t Hold Us) and Christmas (Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies, O Come All Ye Faithful). I appreciated your reaction to this one very much, hope you decide to continue with PTX! Peace from Ohio …
Almost everyone I’ve seen react to this song gets the same flabbergasted look when Mitch (the one in the hat) starts his solo. The fanbase calls that the “Mitch-slap”. My other favorite song of theirs to see people react to is “Bohemian Rhapsody”, which they really do justice to and Mitch will shock you again. Maybe a couple of times. (When you watch it, there is a prop used that you should be aware is JUST a prop. He doesn’t need it for what he’s doing.)
These guys are so talented, it is awe inspiring. The first singer is Scott, followed by Avi, who sadly left the group to go solo, however he helped to find a great replacement, Matt, who sings in 'Sound of Silence'. Singing next is Kirstin, followed by Mitch & when he sings, people are known to be 'Mitch slapped' when they are shocked by his angelic voice. The last in the group is Kevin who is the percussionist and also a wonderful singer. You hear him more in my favorite song by these guys, 'Mary did you know?'
Great reaction guy. This was the first PTX song I heard. The next one I listened to was “Sound of Silence”. It will literally blow you away. Give it a listen, you will not be disappointed.🎶🎶💕💕🦋
One day I will be in the top 20 of commenters who have seen Pentatonix for the first time. Today is not that day,but I loved your reaction. I know you've had a ton of suggestions, and hope you will join us in the PTX family. 🥰
Wonderful reaction! Welcome to Pentatonix. They all sing pretty, as you say, and they perform just masterful arrangements of covers like this, as well as fantastic original music.
Thank you for the great reaction to this beautiful Pentatonix video. I love the song also and this is my favorite rendition of the song. I hope that you will react to more Pentatonix videos. They have hundreds and they are all amazing.
Amazing reaction to this masterpiece. I also believe it’s the best version of Hallelujah, and I don’t think it will ever be beaten for me now. They have so many amazing songs to check out
Beautiful voices and incredible creativity in arrangements to make sure the right voice shines in the right part. No egos. They all dial back when it is best. First five years the bass was Jesus. Next five or more bass is smooth as soul Matt.
Bearded dude, Avi Kaplan is the bass and 2nd lead in this one, the 1st lead Scott, is doing bass while Avi is singing, they are totally insane vocalists. Kirstie isthe power source, then welcome to being Mitch slapped, Mitch Grassi has one of the purest voices today. Kevin the beat boxer is actually probably the most talented. I get chills EVERY TIME!! Thanks man.
Time to introduce you to Pentatonix. The singers: • First verse, tall blond baritone: Scott Hoying. Scott is actually a lyric baritone. When classifying male voices, the word "lyric" means that the voice actually exceeds its nominative range. Scott's voice extends well into both the bass and the tenor ranges. In their official releases, where the audio is recorded in the studio, they'll cheat a bit on the harmony line when their bass takes a solo - the bass will record a second track with his harmony line that they'll layer in during his solo. When they make a video like this, that's shot on location, they're actually lip-synching to that studio recording, but they're very smart about how they lip-synch; they're actually singing the song while the video is being recorded, so all the movements are genuine, tongue and mouth movements, hand movements, everything. But unlike some singers, Pentatonix never lip synchs in actual concerts, and this means that it would be too hard to use a recorded version of the bass's harmony line during the bass's solo. So in live performances Scott handles the bass harmonies when the bass is soloing. • Second verse, bearded guy wearing a stocking cap, "beatnick Jesus": Avi (pronounced Ah'-vee, emphasis on the first syllable) Kaplan, lyric bass. First, Avi happens to be Jewish. Avi is an operatically trained basso profundo - his lowest notes have actually blown out speakers in live performances. But his range extends upward through the baritone range and into the low end of the tenor range. Avi is also the only member of Pentatonix who has ever resigned from the group, in late 2017 (this video is from earlier in 2017) for personal reasons. He has since gone on to have a very successful solo career, and has a new band, named "Avriel and the Sequoias." They put out a lot of very good music. You can find his RUclips channel by searching on "Avi Kaplan"; I recommend subscribing. • You won't see him in this video, but Avi's replacement is named Matt Sallee (pronounced Suh-lee', emphasis on the second syllable. Matt is another lyric bass, and his range appears to still be developing. When I heard him sing at their concert in Denver on November 20, 2022 it sounded to me like his lowest note was as low as I ever heard from Avi, and his highest note was well into the tenor range, higher than I ever heard from Avi. Matt is a wonderful bass. • Third verse, the only woman in the band: Kirstin (AKA Kirstie, rhymes with thirsty) Maldonado, mezzo soprano. Kirstin's actual range extends from low alto through coloratura soprano, with some incredible whistle notes on top of that. She's also something of a chameleon. Sometimes I think she changes her hair color on a daily basis. Additionally, her figure has matured (she was just 19 when the band started in 2011); she's had her lips enhanced; and the shape of her smile has changed. Sometimes people think that Pentatonix has a new woman singer because of this, but as soon as she opens her mouth and starts singing you know it's her. • Fourth verse, guy in a broad-brimmed hat, Mitch Grassi (pronounced Grah'-see, emphasis on the first syllable), counter tenor. Mitch has a range of just over six octaves. Shawn Stockman, of Boyz II Men, described his voice as "one of the prettiest voices I have ever heard in my life." Most people simply describe it as "angelic." Both Scott and Kirstin have said that they frequently are startled during live performances to discover that they've stopped singing because they just want to hear Mitch more clearly. But Mitch was bullied for having such a high voice during high school and that early trauma has colored his judgment of his own voice and led him to doubt his musical intuition. Fortunately, during the pandemic lockdown he finally got professional help for his imposter's syndrome and now seems to be a happier person as a result. Mitch is the other chameleon in Pentatonix. We've seen him clean-shaven, with a mustache, and with a beard and a mustache. He frequently changes his hair color (it was purple for a while) and his hair style (he had a shaved head for a while, which led to unsubstantiated rumors that he had cancer), and his weight has changed frequently though it seems to have settled down now. But, like Kirstin, as soon as he starts singing you know it's him. We call that astonished reaction to hearing Mitch for the first time "being Mitch slapped." You've been Mitch slapped. Don't let it worry you; it's happened to all of us, generally more than once because Mitch is full of surprises. • The fifth member of Pentatonix is Kevin Olusola (pronounced Oh-loosh"-oh-luh', primary emphasis on the second syllable, secondary emphasis on the fourth), beatboxer extraordinaire. It's hard to know where to start when describing Kevin because there's so much to say. In addition to being one of the best beatboxers on the planet, if not *the* best, Kevin is a genius. He has a pre-med degree from Yale. He speaks five languages, including Mandarin. He's classically trained on piano, saxophone, and cello. (It was a viral RUclips video of Kevin beatboxing while playing the cello that first brought him to the attention of Pentatonix back when they were looking for a beatboxer to round out the group - he came up with the technique himself and calls it "celloboxing.") He's performed at Carnegie Hall twice, once on the saxophone and once on the cello. When he isn't too busy being the entire percussion section to sing he has a lovely tenor voice and is known for the great beauty of his falsetto register. And when he laughs the whole world seems like a brighter place. I'll leave the history of Pentatonix for another time; this comment is getting too long already. For now, it's enough for you to have some idea of who is who in the group. I *will* say, however, that Pentatonix has one of the most loyal fan bases in the world. We call ourselves "pentaholics," and our RUclips feeds know enough to show us new reaction videos to Pentatonix or any member thereof. That's what brought me here today, and the first things I did were to subscribe and "Like" your video. Keep reacting to Pentatonix and your channel will grow quickly, and you'll hear a great deal of wonderful music. The other thing I'll say is to give you a warning. Pentatonix's recording label is known for getting nasty about copyright issues. If you don't want your videos to be blocked I recommend putting a translucent "Copyright" over the portion of the video where Pentatonix appears; that seems to appease them. The other possibilities are frequent pauses (or pauses plus rewinds), or turning their portion of the video into a mirror image of itself - the one song that a mirror image actually interferes with is their rendition of "Imagine."
Great reaction, great job explaining your take on it. I know everyone has a suggestion, PTX has a lot of stuff to listen to. If you want to hear an insane vocal range check out Amazing Grace. Kirsty has a solo where I swear she goes higher so many times I lost count. Truly a classic.
The Pentaholics will come and inundate you with info and requests... hope you're ready 😉 I subbed for more PTX. And yes, they do "up-grade" their covers.
Love your raw reaction, PTX is incredible...they do alot of covers but really are upgrades...enjoy going down their rabbit hole you won't be disappointed
It is SO MUCH fun to watch someone react to Pentatonix for the first time! While this is still fresh in your mind, I would suggest you listen/react (soon) to their LIVE version of "Hallelujah" from their televised Christmas Special done about the same time as this music video was released. It will show you how their studio versions and their live versions are almost identical. The only real differences are on purpose to show that they aren't just lip syncing to the studio version. THEN, you HAVE to react to their official music video of " Bohemian Rhapsody". You will NOT be disappointed! I look forward to seeing more of your reaction videos.
Blond guy. Scott Hoying Bass singer with the beard Avi Kaplan Girl is Kirsten (Kirsty) Maldonado High voice Mitch Grassi Beatboxer is Kevin Olusola Check out Beginner’s Guide to Pentatonix you will learn all about the group.
Subbed for more Pentatonix. I'd love to see you react to their Popspring 2016 performance. It's live, but done by MTV so the sound is great. They perform 3 of their original songs and an amazing evolution of Michael Jackson.
Great reaction. You are trying to find words to describe the Pentatonix "effect'...... They do have the gift of taking something that is already great and bring something extra special to it. it really is the combination of all their great and different voices. And mainly the Arrangement. They arrange their songs to take 110% advantage of their voices. Both individually and together. Thanks for your videos. They are always enjoyable.
Hey, EB! Just found your channel in my feed (cuz PTX), so of course I had to subscribe. Great reaction to an awesome group of individuals who, whenever they get together, are a true force of nature. You’re gonna love this rabbit-hole dive, and we Pentaholics will be more than happy to take the plunge with ya! As far as covers (or Upgrades), I highly recommend “The Prayer”, “Sound Of Silence” and “O Come All Ye Faithful”. As far as originals go, check out “Sing”, “Run To You” and “Coffee In Bed”. All of their 200+ songs are absolutely stellar, but those are my favorites today. Tomorrow that list will change again, because that’s just how it works with Pentatonix. Anyway, welcome to the family! 🤘🏾
🌟👉PENTATONIX is THE GREATEST A Cappella group in the WORLD. A week and half ago they received a STAR on The Hollywood Walk Of Fame. They have 4 GRAMMY nominations and have won 3 of them. In singing order from this video Scott Hoying - baritone, covers bass when the bass has a singing lead, hits HIGH falsettos. Is EXTREMELY soulful King of riffs and runs. Avi Kaplan (Ah-vee) bass/basso profundo, baritone, overtone. Avi was the original bass singer from 2011 to late 2017. Left on good terms. Kirstie (rhymes with thirsty) or Kirstin Maldonado - mezzo soprano, alto. ((Changes her look A LOT)) don't get confused, it's always Kirstie. Mitch Grassi - tenor, counter tenor ((CHANGES his look A LOT)) don't get confused it's ALWAYS Mitch. Kevin Olusula or K.O. - beatboxer extraordinar, tenor, cello-boxing. .......Matt Sallee ((not in this video)) replaced Avi as the bass, baritone in late 2017. The Trio - Scott, Kirstie and Mitch are childhood friends from Texas PENTATONIX formed in 2011 for the televised A cappella singing competition The Sing Off, Kevin and Avi were added to The Trio to firm the bass and beatbox foundation for the group. and they won season 3
Welcome to Pentatonix. Nice Mitch slap. I hope you will react to more Pentatonix. They are the best a cappella group (imo). Try Evolution of Michael Jackson, their Daft Punk medley, or their Amazing Grace. They also have original music, like “Sing”, “A Little Space”, “Anchor”. But honestly they have like 12 years of music and it’s all good. React to PTX and the Pentaholics will show up.
The first song I heard was "Mary, did you know". I Fell in love with PTX. Been down the rabbit hole ever since.
Bohemian rhapsody, daft punk medley, Mary did you know, the prayer, are just some of the must hears they do.
The best explanation of PTX, what they take a great song and make their own masterpiece.
PENTATONIX! Love them. Love your reaction.
You, my friend, were just Mitch-slapped!
And there it is - Mitch slapped face. It absolutely NEVER gets old!
You just got Mitch slapped! The guy with the hat it Mitch - one of the best voices in the world!
“Oh my GOD. That voice!” is the best response ever.
Subscribed to watch your PENTATONIX reactions. They are world class and no one does it better!!!
This is my fave rendition
They are very special at what ever they sing. They are absolutely the most talented.
Yet again welcome too the Mitch Slap. You’ll be a Pentaholic 😱❤️🙏🇬🇧
Yesss you got MITCH SLAPPED ❤️
Another really good "Mitch slap'.🤣🤣🤣🤣
There are so many 'Must hear' songs from these guys. Their version of Bohemian Rhapsody is, in my opinion, the best cover version I have ever heard and their Daft Punk Medley is a pure masterclass in what the voice is capable of. But, if I had to choose one as a favourite, it would have to be their version of The Sound of Silence. Any Pentaholic will tell you, they don't do covers of songs, they do upgrades and they brought that song up to a whole new level.
"Sound of Silence" was my introduction to Pentatonix and remains my favorite!
I love all the songs you've suggested! I grew up in the 60's-70's, so I've loved Simon & Garfunkel's "Sound of Silence" since it first came out.. that said, Pentatonix cover is just as inspiring to me, perhaps more so(that's saying something, lol!)
"Amazing Grace" is another of PTX's covers that I would highly suggest ~ moving, inspiring, reverent❣️
pentatonix cover of Bohemian Rhapsody is the ONLY Queen Song i will listen to that isnt sung by queen and freddie.
Agree!! They do upgrades only. They have amazing vocals, to amazing songwriters/remix writers, to camera & video editing crews
Came for the "Mitch-slap" and was not disapointed
Since you seemed to appreciate their ability to switch up a song you've heard many times, check out their Christmas videos for Silent Night and O Come All Ye Faithful. Enjoy!
I just KNEW the guy with the hat would make your face change!! he has the most amazing voice!
Came for the "Mitch slap"did not disappoint! Welcome to the PTX rabbithole! 💖
They are so awesome. I could listen to them all day. You will become addicted. Keep reacting to them. Everything they do is awesome.
Welcome to the club. Yes they are way beyond amazing. Listen to the "The Prayer "
Concert was amazing. And they do not have a band, the bass singer is making all of the different sounds. I cry every time I listen to this
I loved the Lee Dewise version as well! Completely forgot about that one, it was epic. That said, this one is decidedly even better.
No one does this better than PTX! They upgrade everything they do!
Leonard Cohen saw Pentatonix version of his song before he passed away; he said it was the best version of the song he had ever heard.
Can someone verify this statement. I’ve tried to and it seems apocryphal
No, Leonard Cohen said that K D LANG’ S version was the best. But I think that Leonard Cohen’s was the best. As a teenager, I was reading his poetry even before he became a singer and songwriter.
@@markcantley5316 Yep you are right; I can't confirm it anywhere either. It was just something I have always heard said about the Pentatonix version.
I totally love the song, but I seldom hear folks talk about the incredible simplicity and beauty of the video.
Yup. I came for the Mitch Slap... and I got what I came here for 😁
Welcome to Pentatonix!! Every song they do is a masterpiece.
I hope you keep reacting to Pentatonix. I subscribed just in case.
This group could probably give me chills singing a grocery list. So much talent is a humbling thing to behold.
You got it Mitch slappe. He man with high Voice like a Angel
Sound of Silence and Amazing Grace
Glad you liked. More PTX please!
what's more impressive is that their live performances are just as good. 100% talented performers!
Keep going...PTX doesn't do covers they do upgrades. They have hundreds of songs. Keep exploring them. Loved your reaction.
Yes, everything Cathy just said!
I agree 💯!
Yes to everything above!!!!
Thanks to you all for showing Avi support!!!
@@cathyboyce6457 anything for Avi!!
Welcome to PTX! Definitely the best version I have ever heard. Many, many more where that came from. Please do more PTX!
Heh, Andy. The Mitch stanza hits me the very most.
I've subscribed for more PTX
They are fire, no matter what they lay down, covers and originals 🔥🙌🏻
They are ❤
Love watching the 'mitch slapped on these reaction videos. Was not disappointed. Welcome to the Pentatonix rabbit hole. X
Wonderful reaction! Welcome to Pentatonix. They all sing pretty, as you say, and they perform just masterful arrangements of covers like this, as well as fantastic original music.
Next upgrade to react to Sound of Silence. Prepared to be mind 🤯 by Pentatonix.
And the Beatboxer Kevin sings in Imagine... talk about an amazing tenor voice...
WELCOME! You have been "Mitch-slapped!" :)
Enjoy ur journey into PTX! Ur mind will forever be blown.💕🎶
They have so many amazing songs to check out
If you loved this you should check out their covers of The Prayer, Amazing Grace, and Sound of Silence
Enjoyed your reaction. Love Pentatonix and Pentatonix reactions. Watching your reaction to the group made me smile.
The singers:
• First verse, tall blond baritone: Scott Hoying.
The second vocalist "Jesus, Avi" usually does the base .Whenever he is singing the first vocalist, Scott does it.
Thanks for the reaction! Love PTX too.
I'm entranced by your background, I feel like I should know it but I don't!!
I just saw your face and click, but now I see it's a completely new channel. SO glad you are doing pentatonix.
The Pentaholics will come and inundate you with info and requests... hope you're ready 😉
I subbed for more PTX.
And yes, they do "up-grade" their covers.
Love your raw reaction, PTX is incredible...they do alot of covers but really are upgrades...enjoy going down their rabbit hole you won't be disappointed
Great Mitch slap. Subscribed. Recommend their Bohemian Rhapsody.
Blond guy. Scott Hoying
Bass singer with the beard Avi Kaplan
Girl is Kirsten (Kirsty) Maldonado
High voice Mitch Grassi
Beatboxer is Kevin Olusola
Check out Beginner’s Guide to Pentatonix you will learn all about the group.
PMSL looks like EB just got Mitch slapped big style. nice reaction EB trust the music PTX have so many you need to watch
Subbed for more Pentatonix. I'd love to see you react to their Popspring 2016 performance. It's live, but done by MTV so the sound is great. They perform 3 of their original songs and an amazing evolution of Michael Jackson.
If you want angelic, watch their rendition of “ Amazing Grace” and “The Prayer” No instruments just angels sent down to sing for us.
Subbed for more reactions to Pentatonix. I loved your reaction! Sound of Silence and Imagine should be some of your next listens!!
And there it was......the mitchslap
"...with just their voices". And Kevin!
The choral pads and waves in that Pentatonix rendition remind me a lot of
Enya - May It Be.
Love it! So glad you did too!
Love Pentatonix, and love your reaction
You just got Mitch slapped!!
🌟👉PENTATONIX is THE GREATEST A Cappella group in the WORLD.
A week and half ago they received a STAR on The Hollywood Walk Of Fame. They have 4 GRAMMY nominations and have won 3 of them.
In singing order from this video
Scott Hoying - baritone, covers bass when the bass has a singing lead, hits HIGH falsettos.
The Trio - Scott, Kirstie and Mitch are childhood friends from Texas
PENTATONIX formed in 2011 for the televised A cappella singing competition The Sing Off, Kevin and Avi were added to The Trio to firm the bass and beatbox foundation for the group.
and they won season 3
You can also watch their live version...
Love your background!
By the way, just subbed for more Pentatonix!!!
I think this is their best. And that's saying something. Everything they do is different. I second the motion for Bohemian Rhapsody and Daft Punk.
