    love watching these b8 build vids... no perfect install bs, you show the ups and downs of building a b8. can't wait to see more!

    Transmission mount insert is my favorite low cost mod! Makes the shifts so much more solid. Without it, shifts feel like the transmission is held onto the body with a rubber band. Great video and Audi!

    the right tools can make or break your experience with cars. an impact wobble socket or a lift can make control arms or an engine out experience 100x easier

    I JUST did this swap for my control arms this last weekend. Pain in the butt! But, the rubber grinding is gone and it handles much better! Plus, a $170 bushing kit? Heck yeah!
    Also, my pinch bolts came right out. I soaked them over a period of three days, everyday. I don’t know if the previous person put anti-seize in there but thanks the gods that wasn’t an issue.

  • @m24racer51
    @m24racer51 9 месяцев назад

    The trick to getting the pinch bolt out is to cover it in anti-seize when you install it. Not much help when you're dealing with a stuck one but when installing a pinch bolt I always coat them with anti-seize and have never had an issue getting those out.

    I've not had to touch this yet. But I've seen guys a pinch bolt tool. You get in to the gap and twist it. It's designed to separate the very problem you described.

    • @FlinkFilms
      @FlinkFilms  Год назад +1

      That’s a really bad idea. That opening is not designed to be spread open like a strut collar. Great way to damage your knuckle beyond repair

  • @samituomisto106
    @samituomisto106 Год назад

    When you reinstall the control arms its a good idea to use some antiseize with the new bolts and nuts. Tarspray, copperpaste, etc...

    Love your videos. I wish I had the guts to do this myself. Maybe one day! Did your torque the bolts? I got my lowers changed, stupid mechanic re-used some of the old bolts and I don’t know if he even knew what to torque them to. Bummed out after spending so much money that they might pre maturely fail.

  • @aminkhan1292
    @aminkhan1292 Год назад

    yeah pinch bolt looool i got one side out with a blow torch, but hte over one was screwed, had to get a knuckle

  • @TheBrandonHaug
    @TheBrandonHaug Год назад

    Did you torque down the bushings while the front end was under load? If you torque down with the wheels off, the bushings may wear out prematurely as they will constantly be "twisted" when the car is squatting under it's weight.

  • @Byefriendo

      I managed to undo the pinch bolt with just a normal size ratchet. Thank god I live in australia.
      Though I paid for my hubris when I went to take it off to repair a mistake I made during install and found it was bent, and then stripped the threads removing it requiring me to drive 2 hours to get a new bolt. Fun

    CUT THE BOOT OUT BEFORE USING THE FORK. OTHERWISE The rubber dissipates the shock when you hit with the hammer, demanding more effort. THE FORK STILL BREAKS THAT RUBBER TO MEET METAL BEFORE SPLITTING OCCURS - YOU HAVE AN EASIER OPTION OF CUTTING IT OUT USING A BOX CUTTER RATHER THAN BREAKING YOUR SHOULDER. DONT BEAT THE RUBBER, ELIMINATE IT. ✌️

I've replaced the plugs and coils, but still doing it hoping it's not an o-ring or something like that .-. anyone have any tips/advice? I do have to get it inspected since its past due for that >.> but yea
